    cappuccino with oat milk
    Alanah H.

very basic menu, was disappointed with the amount of options. No sugar free syrups, no 2% milk, no skim milk. Also, took a very long time for coffee to be made. My cappuccino was bad - not worth the money

I had a hot decaf latte and studied inside for about two hours this evening. All aspects were great: taste of coffee, seat is comfortable enough for long time work, good vibes, and nice baristas. No wonder so many people recommend this coffee shop!

The atmosphere is perfect. If you need a spot to work, it's quiet and calm. The staff is very nice and helpful in giving recommendations. And of course it's delicious.

    Smoke Salt Maple Latte (iced)

Stopped by again and tried the Smoke Salt Maple Latte iced, Avena Latte, and a Fruit Danish. Big fan of the Smoke Salt Maple Latte and the Danish was surprisingly good, flaky and sweet. The Avena Latte didn't really give off much in terms of flavor, mostly tasted of oat milk.

Kind of weird vibes inside but the matcha was great! The fruit pastry was also pretty good

I've been to other Intellegentsias in the city and they've all Ben consistently great. It's unfortunate two more locations are closing, and hoping that this one sticks around. I ordered a latte through their website and was getting placed on the counter right when I arrived. The guys here were very friendly and got me on my way. The latte was delicious and will be coming here more often.

London Fog w/ almond milk and chocolate croissant

Not a "typical" coffee shop feel, a little more cafeteria vibe esthetically, but decent space. Quiet enough to read or work a bit. Staff was very friendly. I ordered a London Fog w/ almond milk and a chocolate croissant. The tea came with a small carafe with remaining tea in the side. The tea was absolutely delicious! I'm a fan of London Fog's in general but this may be my go to spot for them going forward. Croissant was huge and ended up saving half for later. It was light and just enough without being too sweet.

    "Large" vanilla latte

Paid for a large but my cup was filled as a regular size anyway.. I've been coming here for months and this is the first time I was left unsatisfied. Bad way to start a Friday morning nonetheless!

by far one of the best matcha lattes i've had in chicago!! perfect balance of balance of grass-ie taste and sweetness, pumpkin bread was great as well! the interior is cozy with plenty of tables, didn't see alot of outlets though for those wfh or studying.

This coffee is so delicious!!! I ordered a hot vanilla latte and it was perfectly sweet The baristas are always friendly and the coffee shop has plenty of room to sit and do work or hangout outside while sipping your drink

My go to neighborhood cafe for a solid cappuccino and some productive work time. Their coffee is more on the pricey side, but it's good. The music is always fire too. Don't bother with the croissants though.

Decent coffee, but the barbacoa breakfast taco was just bad. It was dry barbacoa in a pita with egg.

The Turkey Turkey sandwich is still my favorite, they also have good soups (great tortilla soup), cakes and pies also. I love that they kept the original decor, wall art and interior over the decades which gives it a nice 90's look and vibe compete with 90's-00's music. I almost expect Meg Ryan from You've Got Mail to walk in.

I went around 6:30pm on a weekday and things were pretty quiet- although this seemed to be popular for takeout, the interior was very cute and there was ample room for seating. They have an extensive menu of delicious sandwiches on homemade bread, so it was hard to pick just one! I opted for the roast beef sandwich, and it could have definitely lasted for two moderately sized meals. It took a bit longer than expected to come out, but it was perfectly toasted and truly made to order. The unsung hero of the sandwich was the rosemary ciabatta bread, which added that subtle extra flavor that would remind you this is a speciality spot. The avocado and grilled onions with melty cheese made for a well rounded rich flavor. I do think the beef could have been a tiny bit fresher and think a more flavorful aioli would have upped the sandwich, but overall it was still tasty and satisfying. I would definitely return to try more of the sandwiches and recommend paying a visit! I

I've been a customer of almost 10 years and have been obsessed since they first opened their doors at a different location. I literally live an hour away without traffic and even longer with traffic, but I make sure to stop by or send someone else to get it for me at least once a month or more. I love the amazing cakes that are so delicious and unique but on top of that, it is Asian owned, LGBTQ supporting, etc. A lot has changed since their little storefront with no seating. The bakery is now a full on cafe and I'm so happy to see how much they've grown and how successful they are. And while it is glorious, I will say I miss the sweet neighborhood charm and great customer service it used to have. Getting in touch with the bakery through phone or text can be tough and to be honest, sometimes one of the people working there is kind of...very mean. It had me questioning if I should keep coming back. I just love this bakery so much though and being raised by parents that had a small food business, I can't help but want to support. I had a particularly difficult last minute request for the bakery a few weeks ago and I was reminded why this place is so great. It had been YEARS since I made this specific request, which was an order for a slice of cake for every flavor and a cupcake for every flavor. This is a BIG and time consuming request, especially if it's last minute. Unfortunately I come to the city whenever the traffic isn't atrocious, so it's always last minute. Dom absolutely pulled through though. Even though there were other employees there (I saw two others but one disappeared and then another male was kind of walking around the cafe and such), Dom took this giant request and fulfilled it himself. The other gentleman (not the mean person previously mentioned) was actually who I made the request to, but he told Dom to do it. I was kind of confused why they didn't do it together but idk, maybe the other guy isn't allowed to handle food? Who knows. Regardless, this request obviously took a long time and the line was getting longer; people were getting a little restless but Dom stayed calm but was swift. I swear he was moving faster than most people in the industry could with a cake knife like that. He was not impatient or rude to me at all. He was just there to do his job as fast and well as possible. It's so rare to see that type of work ethic. He is also so obviously proud of the bakery and the food they serve which makes you feel good about being a patron there. So although I continue to have an unpleasant experience with one particular employee there, Dom keeps my love for this bakery alive. He reminds me of what this bakery was like when they first opened their doors. I hope Dom is cherished there and I bet he is considering his work ethic. I will continue to support this bakery and I recommend everyone else to support as well. It may not be that small little shop anymore but Dom is a reminder of the heart of the place.
