This place is beautiful inside! It has a vintage art deco vibe & a beautiful place to catch up with friends. It was crowded on a Saturday afternoon. I ordered an iced white chocolate mocha with almond milk. The coffee was okay but I could not taste the white chocolate, it just tasted like regular iced coffee. read more

Cafe Deko is my favorite coffee spot in Chicago! This was my first time at the Diversey location, which is also nicely decorated in art deco and funky interior design- so my vibe! My hot latte was divine here and the vegan scone was also a great addition, I loved how it didn't feel too heavy, and seemed to be made with healthier, more whole ingredients without compromising on taste. The service was super kind and fast as well, I highly recommend checking out Cafe Deko! read more

Updating my review quickly to say the matcha is delicious! My colleague and I needed an afternoon pick me up and Cafe Deko was near so we stopped by. I got an iced vanilla latte and oh my gosh this tasted like melted ice cream in the best way possible? Sweet, creamy and so delicious. I think next time I would get it half sweet just to cut it a little bit but it's so good and I've been dreaming about getting it again! read more

I had heard of Cafe Deko, seeing many posts on social media of the Victorian inspired cafe. Upon entering the cafe, you definitely feel like you are transported into a different place and time. The black, white, and lush deep green interior design and bold art deko give the space a cozy and sophisticated vibe. Despite it being a very busy Saturday afternoon, the staff was very kind. I ordered an iced honey vanilla latte. The espresso was strong and smooth, balancing out the sweet notes of the honey and vanilla. Cafe Deko has an extensive coffee and baked goods menu. I The menu items all look solid, but the vibe is what appealed to me the most, definitely a place I can see myself getting some work done! read more

Cafe Deko is such a great addition to the neighborhood. I am a big fan of their on the go window on the side of the building, which is perfect for catching your morning coffee on your walk over to the El! This spot makes a great brew and have plenty of fun syrups to jazz up your go to! The place is a popular remote work spot and is themed like the 1920s in art deco fashion. read more

Checked out this coffee shop Saturday afternoon after a day walking around the neighborhood. The cafe was really pretty and had a lot of seating. My sister ordered a coffee, she said it was okay. I go an Apple Danish (they offered to warm it up for me and I was really happy they did); it was pretty tasty. Wouldn't make a special trip but if I was in the area again I wouldn't mind stopping in. read more

Stepped in into Café Deco for a quick coffee and was pleasantly surprised! The interior is absolutely beautiful, it gives up strong, great Gatsby vibes with elegant and art decor. The service is warm and welcoming, and the coffee was excellent. It's also a great spot to work remotely, comfortable, seating, good lighting, and the noise level was just right definitely a place I'll be revisiting. read more

One of the most beautiful and aesthetically pleasing cafés I've ever been to! The decor, the furniture, the ambience, the music, all of it was amazing. My latte was great as well. Fun spot to grab coffee with a friend or date!! The decor is so cute, love the gold and green and tile theme they got going on. They really went all out!! There's a fair amount of seating considering the size of the place. Wasn't able to get a spot today unfortunately, but we did go at a busy time on a Sunday morning. I got the honey and lavender specialty latte with soy milk. I get mixed feelings about lavender - sometimes it tastes pretty soapy to me. I thought this was delicious! I'd definitely order again and recommend it. Overall, definitely recommend this spot especially if you're able to get a couch or table to enjoy the space! read more

I went to cafe Deko twice during my short trip to Chicago because I loved the atmosphere and my Americano. They had a lovely selection of baked goods. I also had a breakfast bagel that was nice, but I wouldn't go for the food. The service was great, they brought my drink to me and I sat for a while and used their wifi to get some work done on my laptop. It was spacious inside and had a nice outdoor seating area as well. read more

I have been dyyyying to check out Cafe Deko because helloooo how cute is it!? I've seen so many photos and followed them on instagram for a while, so I was thrilled to find myself in the area with a couple free hours one day. I was surprised the inside wasn't larger, although they really do pack a lot of (beautiful) tables inside! There's counter seating, booth type couch seating, and cute little tables. The chairs were especially comfortable, which is always a bonus when you will be working for a couple hours or so! Worth noting, however, that the WiFi went out multiple times in the two hours I was working from here. This caused the music in the cafe to stop entirely, their pay system goes down so you can't order/pay, and, of course, it affects the work flow! That said, I was a bit disappointed because found the product to be just okay. The coffee itself wasn't anything to write home about. I got an iced white chocolate mocha. It was fine. I also grabbed a sandwich for lunch and was very underwhelmed. It was a chipotle chicken sandwich (chicken, bacon, Gouda, roasted peppers and chipotle sauce) and while it sounded tasty, I thought the chicken looked funky (see the pic and let me know what you think, maybe I'm just being weird?). I also noticed the staff often just stands around behind the counter on their phones, when they could be refilling the empty water canister, or clearing plates from people. I just thought that could be a nice above-and-beyond customer service touch in their down time. Overall it's a nice looking spot, and a comfortable place to work from, but I wouldn't recommend the food, and I'd just get a coffee without high expectations. read more

I'm a regular at the Printer's Row location and I'm glad I got to visit this location too. Beautiful decor and tasty drinks. Friendly staff and comfy seating. It definitely got crowded in the late morning. Lots of people working at tables. I almost didn't get a seat at first but then I got lucky, and it thinned out more in the afternoon. Good beverages. I enjoyed my iced hazelnut latte and my iced matcha latte. The temperature was a bit too warm for me inside but it was overall a pleasant experience. Lovely cafe and lots of natural light. read more

I will admit, I went to this coffee shop based off of the beautiful images I saw online! I came across Cafe Deko on Instagram, and as I was coming to Chicago for the marathon, I added it to my list of places to visit. The decor alone is really beautiful, and I wish I had had time to sit inside and enjoy it more. I got a coffee to go, and the service was friendly and warm. The coffee was really delicious, and as someone with a dairy allergy, I always love when shops have nondairy options. If you go for the decor alone, I understand, but the coffee is worth it as well! read more

4.5 stars due to a very foamy latte top. The latte itself was good, the espresso was smooth and the milk was well frothed aside from the top half inch. I got a guava and cheese pastry and it was phenomenal. I need to ask who they source their baked goods from next time I visit because I might need to buy them in bulk! Ample seating for such a small spot, restroom was available, decor and ambiance was relaxing and tranquil. The music has french jazz sound, think "the original L Word intro" song. I sat on one of the couches which would make a great spot for a date. You know what, they can have the half star back since they have a super convenient, walk up window. I'll be back. read more

Cafe Deko - Tiramisu and honey lavender lattes. Everything and Asiago bagels. - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

I visited this coffee shop yesterday after wanting to try it out for a long time. It's out of the way for me, but I've heard good things so I wanted to give it a try. I was super excited to go and have a coffee and a bite for lunch as my mother in law was watching my two young children, allowing me to have some "me" time for the first time in a LONG time. I ordered a chai latte and then tried to order a sandwich from their list of delicious sandwiches. A red haired barista from the back heard me order and turned to me and said "I'm sorry., we're not doing sandwich orders right now. We are under staffed and I'm about to leave. I could get you a bagel or something but no sandwiches." So, confused, as it was lunch time and there were 3 people behind the bar, I decided on a croissant and sat down. Meanwhile, the women sitting at the table next to me each had sandwiches and chips. The barista was there the entire time I was at the cafe, so we wasn't "leaving" as she said. No reason I couldn't have a sandwich. She clearly just didn't want to make it. As I sat there, I noticed another barista leaning against the counter on her phone, and a new barista come in and introduce himself to the crew. But still, no workers left and I felt very disappointed and cheated out of a meal while watching other customers enjoy theirs. I won't be coming back. read more

I went here with a friend the other day and we ended up spending a good deal of the afternoon just relaxing and catching up. Even though we were seated at a regular table, the place had a comfortable vibe and it was easy to settle into. The counter women were efficient, nice, and filled our orders promptly. They did give my friend the wrong size coffee at first, but corrected it quickly and without any problem. One thing I didn't love: my cappuccino was served in a Styrofoam cup while we were staying there. If you're drinking in, it really should come on a ceramic cup and saucer. Save the Styrofoam for takeout! The best part was that we stayed for a couple of hours and no one hovered over us, or made us feel like we had to leave. As for the coffee itself, it was just okay. Not bad, but not memorable either. That's a shame too, because the space is so comfy. Still, there are plenty of other coffee spots on the North Side - and this just gives me a reason to explore others in the neighborhood. read more

Cafe Deko is a whole vibe, from the bold art deco interiors to the delicious tiramisu lattes. You can order a quick pick-me-up at the service window or inside at the counter, where there is plenty of plush seating. It's the perfect place to study for a few hours, but I'd recommend bringing headphones as it can get pretty busy on the weekends. Overall, Cafe Deko remains a jewel among the city's coffee scene! read more

Stepping into Café Deko felt like walking into a time machine straight back to 1833 during the World's Fair (with better coffee, of course ). The décor is absolutely stunning old-school speakeasy vibes with rich gold trim, elegant touches, and a vintage charm that instantly sets the tone. I ordered a simple iced coffee, and it was spot-on smooth, bold, and refreshing. I also tried the chipotle chicken sandwich, which was pretty solid and hit the spot. The front staff was warm and welcoming, which made the experience even better. It's the kind of place that makes you want to come back just to soak in the atmosphere again (and maybe post up with a laptop for the day). Plus, it's right across from a fresh market major bonus if you're looking to grab a bite and then shop. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. I'll be back soon to try more of the drinks! read more

I love the vibe and the variety of seating options - tables, booths, and high bar seats. I was lucky enough to get a small table for me and three friends on an early Sunday afternoon. I'm not a coffee drinker and wasn't too hungry so I bought a buttery croissant which was good and perfectly flakey. Customer service is quick and friendly. Cafe Deko is on a busy corner but they offer a window where you can order/pick up orders. My friends ordered the lattes and liked the flavors. read more

Love love love this place!!! Went here with my girlfriends on a short trip to Chicago and the coffee was delightful. When we ordered, the staff was super friendly and immediately struck up conversation with us. Coffee and Matcha tasted lovely and was so quick to come out. We didn't end up trying any of the food, but saw others eating and it looked delicious. The place itself is so cool architecturally. They had signs out indicating that this was a screen free zone, at least the day we went, and it created for a super lively environment. Will definitely return if we are in Chicago again. read more

Charming space with good coffee, however - beware you are not allowed to use your laptop (I'm not sure about cell phones). My usual go-to coffee (which allows laptops) is across the street. However, you want to support your local business right?. In my case, there were a few emails I needed to get out and a good cup of coffee (which they have) would have been perfect - while getting a few emails out. Yet, I was politely told "no can do". There was a sign posted near the door (inside the cafe); which I saw after being reprimanded. Had I seen the notice outside the door, I would not have gone in (with the intent to get a few things done). I believe I understand the rational - and now understand this is a screen/safe cafe. What are the odds it will remain that way? Time would tell. On the flipside, it is charming and hope it goes well. You get 3-stars because I didn't know before entering. read more

Lovely space and staff though too many people are fully camped out for work so finding a spot to sit is extremely challenging. Cute decor, amazing chai, and friendly service. Highly recommend if you are in the area or looking for a new coffeeshop to hang out in.

I ordered a white mocha latte and honestly, it was pretty mid. The coffee itself was good, but the flavor was on the lighter side and the milk came out a bit watery. On the plus side, the overall aesthetic of the shop is nice and the music gives it a good vibe, which definitely adds to the experience. Not terrible, but not my favorite either. read more

I like my Americanos hot. Like, where I need to blow on it to cool it down before I take a sip. Had an Americano here this morning and it was meh.
