This place is yummy, this is the second location in their family of "Breakfast House" spots that we have tried. All the food is really good, the service was spot on! They really know how to cram the tables in there so be prepared if you have a big group! Portion size is hit and miss, some plates are packed to the gills, other plates are skimp sauce and that's comparing a favorite from both locations and also two plates at the same time. If I could rely on this consistency I would have given 5 stars but since I was still hungry after my dish, even though it was good I am settling at 4 stars, because hey, you're allowed to have "one of those days" Do I recommend? I love Breakfast House for a casual Sunday morning breakfast! It's always full so I recommend going earlier than 11am if you don't want to wait 30+ minutes. They currently don't take reservations of parties under 5 people. I got a traditional breakfast with scrambled eggs, bacon, and breakfast potatoes. Everything came out hot and had big portions. I always get chocolate chip pancakes on the side. They were fluffy and the chocolate chips were mixed into them instead of just being placed on top. First visit to Breakfast House location. Everything was fine, nothing screamed "wow" or stood out to me. Our server was nice and patient while I decided what to order. I eventually chose the Chefs special granola. I've been to a lot of breakfast joints in my time. While I think you'll be able to find a dish that speaks to you, it felt on the average side for me. It wasn't terribly crowded on a Tuesday morning, and the noise levels were good, allowing for easy conversation. Recently moved to the area and tried this place on a Sunday morning. We came right before the rush, but still took a while for someone to acknowledge us after we were sat. They were not busy by any standard. If I had to time it I would say it took 5-7 minutes. Which feels like a lot but I digress. The food was great! Went to Chicago for Halloween, and Breakfast House was our final stop before heading home -- and I'm so glad it was! The hostess was incredibly kind, especially after a random older man yelled at us for letting in the cold air (there isn't a waiting area, so that's really my only small complaint). The space itself is cozy and narrow, but we were seated quickly and the staff was super attentive. Most importantly -- the food was delicious! I have been here twice since they opened at this location and each time my food was stellar and the service great. It is a small, cozyrestaurant so I can imagine that it gets quite busy on the weekends. They also have a patio, weather permitting. My recent visit was on a weekday and there were several tables that were occupied. Both their breakfast and lunch menus are extensive with something for everybody. I love that the eggs are perfectly cooked, not over done like many other restaurants that serve breakfast. The have a good selection tea, and offer espresso drinks along with drip coffee. The have a small bar selection, but it should suffice for almost everyone. If you find yourself in Wrigleyville, just a hop, skip and a jump from the Sheridan Red Line train station this would be a great place to check out if you are hungry and/or thirsty. And when it came time to pay our tabs individually, Zuly, got upset that we realized our tab already had applied gratuity and she didn't inform us. Delicious brunch at The Breakfast House! It's right next to the Sheridan stop of the red line and holy sh* it's sooooo good. We've eaten here many times and every time it bangs. Waitstaff is always super friendly and on top of everything. The vibe is very typical brunch spot and there's always a cute artwork featuring all of the workers on the wall. Just a few blocks north of Wrigley Field right next to the El. We liked it so much we came back the next day - it was just as enjoyable! We walked in and were seated right away. We had coffees on our table almost immediately. The crowd was a mix of locals and Cubs fans grabbing breakfast before the game. They had a chalkboard with drawings of all the employees on it, as well as Wrigleyville themed art on the walls. There is also a nice outdoor seating area. The food was fantastic. You could tell they put some thought into the flavor and presentation. It's not just diner food slapped on a plate. The first day I had avocado toast with poached eggs that were perfectly cooked. My wife ordered a bowl of granola cereal that was huge and loaded with fruit. The next day I had the chorizo hash. It was a huge serving - I ate it all - and regret nothing! My wife had lemon ricotta French toast and it was also delicious. The staff was attentive and offered coffee top ups. It was getting busy as we were eating so there was a short line to get seated, but it seemed to move quickly. Was in the area for a Cubs game and met up with a friend for brunch before the game started. This place was exactly what we are looking for. Decent service, friendly staff, and overall good ambience for a casual breakfast place. They didn't make it to 5 stars for me because they never asked us about splitting the bill. They just put everything on my card without any discussion. That was no big deal but I think it is definitely noticeable mistake on the service side. And if it was not me ( a generally easy-going person) then I can see someone getting upset about this. Besides that, everything was pretty solid and I would recommend this place. If you are eating with a group of people, and you do want to split the bill, I would make it known before the bill actually comes because they seem to be struggling with that part. read more

The best chicken and waffles in the area! Seriously, I wouldn't expect to find such delicious chicken and waffles at a random breakfast spot. Like many people I was excited to try out Breakfast House when I saw they were opening up in the area. I really liked that they offered a large outdoor sitting area and the inside of the restaurant is large. They have ample sitting for solo dinning to large groups. I would recommend calling ahead if you plan to have a size-able group and come earlier in the day because this place is always busy over the weekend. The chicken and waffle, mainly the chicken, has a hold on me for the moment. I've mainly ordered that dish during every visit but I've had the chance to try their chilaquiles. Surprisingly it was not great. I wouldn't recommend ordering them when you have the chicken and waffles as well as other items available. Truthfully I haven't found any chilaquiles that beat Tizal Cafe. I have also been able to try the sour cream pancakes and I am not a fan but I love the compote that comes with it. They have an acquired taste and the texture is to squishy for me. Anytime my husband orders them I take his compote and pair it with the waffles in my dish. I really wish I could just order a side of the compote because they pair so well with the chicken and waffles. Typically when I visit the restaurant I easily get two full meals from my order. I've seen a lot of their dishes and they are a nice size. Do not be surprised by the prices because they align with Lakeview prices. read more
