The owners and staff at Lunch Heroes are so nice and most importantly amazing public servants. They more than regularly donate meals to people in need throughout the Chicago community. They also are near DePaul so they hire students to work there as well. I have been here twice and really like the sandwiches. I like to take it home and add my own oil and vinegar. The inside of the business is always clean and has some seating as well. If I'm ever in the mood for a big sandwich I go here because I want to support local!

There's so much I can say about this place, it is truly amazing!! The staff here is incredibly nice and the food man oh man it is good! I love this place , I travel all the way from the South Loop just to eat here! The vibe inside is so welcoming! 10/10

Butt Kickin' Chicken - unique, but bland chicken salad sandwich

I appreciate the idea behind this deli - or what I think it is - which they donate either funds or sandwiches to local schools. As for the sandwiches? I found them to be just ok. I got the chicken salad sandwich and while the salad itself had a unique, fresh flavor, I found out to be pretty bland. If you're looking to eat inside, The seating and space is quite small, and the seeing isn't comfortable (think patio chairs and the tiny patio table). Outside seating is bit more spacious, but same seating. Overall, my visit was just a lackluster experience.

This spot might be my new favorite sandwich in Lincoln Park! I had the Gobbler and added arugula and banana peppers- could not believe how good it was. The fresh ingredients on top of the fresh crunchy bread made for my ideal sandwich. Will be back very soon!

What a great little find. The owner, Claire, was so awesome. Friendly, kind and they make sandwiches for charity every single day. Besides being great human the sandwich was amazing. Tons of meat and toppings, very fresh and delicious. The ambience of it was whimsical and inviting. What a great addition to the neighborhood. I'll certainly be back.

Came to try San Francisco's famous Dutch crunch bread. Let's just say it did not disappoint. The store has a fun superhero theme, but is very small. Also, the staff were so friendly. Went with the butt kickin' chicken as it was calling my name. The bread was the best sandwich bread I've ever had. It was light, airy, and fluffy with the crunch on top providing a great textural contrast that didn't take away from the softness. The chicken salad wasn't too wet like a lot of places, but could have been tastier. I couldn't really taste the hot honey or Calabrian chili. Lastly, the veggies were spot on with just the right amount. I wish the bread was sold by itself as it alone will make me want to come back. And after speaking to the owner, next time I will try their sausage breakfast sandwich as it comes on an everything bagel seasoning Dutch crunch. Overall, super solid sandwich shop but a tad pricy.

$22 for a 12" sandwich and a place that doesn't accept cash. They won't be around for long.

Super friendly lady at the cashier (all smiles, patient, and offered menu help)! Also fast service (got my order within a few minutes). I visited on a Saturday late afternoon and it was very chill here (also shoutout to the early 2000's era music playing :p it was a vibe). Overall I'd say it's not a bad food spot at all if you want a quick bite and want to be a little away from the Magnificent Mile crowds.

Ordering is straight forward with lots of customizations. Picking up your food is a bit hectic as there is a main pick up counter and a separate area for pick up if they are swamped. It'll be announced on the speakers. Took close to an hour for our order to be called, customers crowd the pick up counter even though they just ordered so be prepared to squeeze past people to get your food. Tables are also taken up by customers waiting for their group to grab their food. Seating is on both levels and outside so it's somewhat plentiful but expect some issues if you go at a peak time. As for the food we got the Italian beef, Chicago hotdog, fries, chocolate cake, and the cake shake. The Italian beef is amazing! Would recommend getting that along with extra peppers! The peppers really bring it all together. The Chicago dog was alright, it is good, fresh, and different from your normal hotdog. Fries were fries, they accommodated the meal well but wasn't anything outstanding. Our uber driver recommended the chocolate cake and the shake. I would say the cake is just average, it was a little under 'moist' status and the fudge icing is a little too sweet but maybe that's just how you would picture chocolate cake. The cake shake is the better version of it, mixed with their chocolate shake it felt nicer to suck it up through a straw. If you sign up for their rewards you'll get the cake for $1 Overall not a bad experience, they are opening a new location by the river in downtown so that might help with wait times. Highly recommend that Italian beef!!

Two of us shared a half pound pastrami on rye with a side of hash browns. The rye was pretty decent but the pastrami was sliced far too thick and the meat was lean. That is not a good thing when it comes to pastrami and I attribute the lean meat to the deli catering to its hipster-ish audience. Although the flavor was decent, the sandwich was dry and difficult to eat. We disagreed on the generously sized pickle. One of us thought the flavor was just right, the other not so much. We both agreed on the hash browns. It's a no-go. They were well fried but entirely unseasoned. I understand the lack of schmaltz but there was no onion or salt or anything else. Waffle House has nothing to worry about. (IYKYK) Service was fast and polite. The space is tiny, but it works. Prices are okay for this area but if you want traditional deli in Chicago, go to Manny's.
