I have been coming to fairgrounds for years and both of their locations have really great coffee. While the loop one is more grab and go, this one has lots of seating and is a good place to work. Their breakfast tacos are very tasty, and all of their coffees on tap are fun, unique and good!

I stumbled across this little coffee shop and it was absolutely adorable! I met the sweetest lady named Iris, who was so kind, informative, and helpful. She recommended their new Pumpkin Cold Brew, which was delicious--and even better, I got to see that they make their pumpkin and banana date syrups in-house (so much better than the artificial stuff). The seasonal drink was amazing, but honestly, the true highlight was the hospitality from Iris. She's the reason this place is an easy 5 stars!

I stopped in to grab a quick beverage. The spacious coffee shop sits on a corner with floor to ceiling windows all around. The room is stylish and offers plenty of seating. The food and beverage selection is diverse. I chose a cold can of tea. It tasted great. Unfortunately the girl at the counter did her job but nothing more. No smile. No greeting or thank you.

They say open till 8 pm. This was the scene inside at 7:13 pm!!

Their sign and their employee confirmed they close at 8 pm. Well we walked in at 7:13 pm and all the chairs were up on the tables. I ordered a Vietnamese coffee and was told they can't make that since it's so late. If you close at 8 pm then close at 8 pm not 7:13 pm! No thanks!

Aubri the best cup of coffee I've ever had! Excellent vegan and gf breakfast! Quick and courteous service. Perfect ambiance for a coffee shop!

I checked out this coffee shop while I was on the area. It was crowded which I took as a good sign and ordered a vanilla latte. It came out quickly and I was able to find a place to sit and enjoy it. Unfortunately, the latte was way too sweet and not that great. Wish I'd enjoyed it since I've heard good things about the coffee here.

cute spot with a nice interior and it is good for working remotely although the music can be a bit loud at times. there are a lot of snack options and even some merch. the drink i got was the honey lavender latte, iced with oat milk, and it was VERY concentrated in terms of sweetness. i didn't love it. the baristas were nice however.

Met some friends here on a late Saturday afternoon and had such a great time. This coffee shop is cozy, but not too loud. It was a bit tough to find seating for four people, but luckily someone was leaving a big table so we snagged it. The staff we interacted with throughout ordering and receiving our food were all very friendly and answered questions about the menu. They were also accommodating when my friend noted an allergy and took time to break down the ingredients used with her. I had the turkey club and iced green tea (which I forgot to take a picture of the tea) and was impressed with the quality and price for both items! The tea was not overwhelming or watered down. The turkey club was well portioned and very tasty. Plus, in my book, getting tots with a sandwich is always fantastic! I almost couldn't finish all the food and shared some tots with my friends. I can't wait to come back here and try more of their drinks and food. Everything my friends had was also great. Whether you're looking to spend time with others or get work done, Fairgrounds is definitely the spot!

    Latte with oat milk

Great Latte at a Fair Price I had a very solid iced latte with oat milk here. At $5.50 before tax, it's reasonably priced for the quality. The service is quick, and the drink is consistently well-made every time I visit. Definitely a reliable choice for a good latte in River North!

Swee Peach Blossom White (Bb), sweet potato salad

Super yummy sweet potato salad!! Took less than 10 minutes too. The place is very aesthetic and has a lot of spaced out seating. Open until 6:30 so thats nice. Prices arent bad too! Also love that it sells looseleaf teas.

When your barista just wants you to leave they put forth zero effort.

Absolutely the worst, bar none, cafe in the city. The baristas hate working there and there attitude is atrocious. When i walked in the barista didnt acknowledge me. I had to greet her. Basic customer skills.... just not there. I ordered two double shots and a pour over for my partner and i. The barista starts making my shots and instead of serving them when she is done. She puts them in paper cups and holds it behind the counter. Then she proceeds to start my pour over. She is rinsing the filter and has a puddle of water at the bottom of the bee house dripper they use. She dumps the coffee on the puddle and put a cup under it which is dripping dirty water into the cup with no coffee being extracted. As i sit and watch, she turned away to wash caps to syrup bottles as this pour over is set up missing half of the grounds. When i ask for her to come and check on it, she decides its good enough and just wets the rest of the grounds. I told her she can keep it because it is going to taste like garbage. Absolutely worst service, barista and coffee experience i have had in Chicago. I am a barista myself and give a ton of leeway but this isnt the first horrible experience but i promise it will be my last. Also how can other coffee companies let fairgrounds make their coffee? Their employees do not care about the product making other coffee companies look terrible. If i was a coffee provider and i was selling to fairgrounds..... i would reallllllly really rethink why and if the money is worth the negative impact. I would say not. Do not go here. Do not support them. Spend your money anywhere else and i promise you will have a better experience and coffee.

Good ambiance and service, poor food, left of heating rack too long and stale. Would not go again. Also the $13 burritos was pretty small!

They have won several awards for their sandwiches and are said to have the best Italian Beef in Chicago. With all this being said, this was certainly a must eat on my trip! Their menu consists of their famous Italian beef, along with Chicago dogs, burgers, sausage sandwiches, chicken, and fries. There is definitely something for everyone here. The inside is casual and reminiscent of a fast food eatery. Really liked the yellow accents throughout the restaurant. I will also note that it was extremely clean inside, which is always appreciated. Ordering is simple and they will call your ticket number when your food is ready. All the food is served made to order and very fresh and doesn't take too long to come out! I ordered the Regular Beef, wet, with both hot and spicy peppers per the workers suggestion. Ordering the sandwich wet simply means the bread is dunked in the gravy/aus jus. If you want the real deal, this is how you order it. The peppers are optional as well, but complete the sandwich. The sandwich consists of their famous Italian beef roasted and sliced, served on freshly baked French bread. I can see why this sandwich is so highly regarded. The Italian beef that is made in house each day is tender, flavorful, and just perfect! It isn't chewy or tough either. The sweet and spicy peppers paired nicely with the savory beef. And the fresh French bread covered in the gravy--phenomenal! The gravy adds a lot of flavor to the sandwich. You do have to eat it quickly, otherwise the bread will fall apart, oh but it is so worth it. I got fries with a side of cheese sauce to go with the sandwich. By far some of the best fries I've had. Not super crispy, but not soggy either, the texture was just right. They were salted perfectly and dipping them in their velvety cheese sauce was a treat! A regular sub is roughly 6 inches and quite filling. The sandwiches are stuffed with ample amounts of beef. The price is also excellent considering how much you get. Overall, I would say Al's Beef lived up to all its praise. My sandwich was very memorable and was like nothing I'd had before. Everything is so fresh, between their beef, bread, and fries, it is all made in house. This isn't just some fast food spot, it is an institution. I was impressed with everything I ordered, especially the fries. They take a lot of pride in what they serve. This is evident in their customer service. If you are visiting Chicago, don't think, just go--you won't regret it!

Kinda skimpy on the fixings on the Chicago dog, but still gets the job done if you're craving a Chicago dog. Fries are the type that are greasy to the touch; not my fave style of fries but I know it's a well-liked one to others. Super friendly lady at the cashier (all smiles, patient, and offered menu help)! Also fast service (got my order within a few minutes). I visited on a Saturday late afternoon and it was very chill here (also shoutout to the early 2000's era music playing :p it was a vibe). Overall I'd say it's not a bad food spot at all if you want a quick bite and want to be a little away from the Magnificent Mile crowds.

Food reviews: Truffle and mushroom tavern--light and well balanced. Delicate sweet notes from the red onion balance out the earthiness of the mushroom, truffle and charred crust. Cheese doesn't overwhelm the pie and compliments all ingredients with a salty bite Spicy vodka and sausage--so different than the first pie but equally as delicious! Vodka sauce has a deep flavor with only subtle heat. Sausage packs a ton of flavor. Heavier of the two pies since it had more cheese on it but my husband enjoyed Chocolate peanut butter sundae--birthday celebration treat brought by our server! Wow it's a must order. The puppy chow was an insanely smart ingredient to add for texture and bit of chocolate. Can't wait to return to try another specialty pie!

I added peppers to the beef sandwich to give it some spice but besides that it was bland! I was disappointed but I thought the Chicago dog would make up for it but the bun was soggy. The best part of my order were the cheese fries and I got a free slice of chocolate cake since it was my birthday month! It's located in a busy part of River North with minimal parking options but I do believe they have 1 or 2 parking spots in the parking lot they share with the motel. It gets pretty busy on the weekend so I'd recommend going early or be prepared for a line. Ordered online the night before to take to a friend's for brunch. When I arrived to pick up my order, disappointingly, I was told that part of my order wasn't available because they hadn't been set aside in the morning. They offered to replace it with a different flavor and add a free schmear, but I'll admit I was super annoyed. I ended up getting some everything bagels to make some lox sandwiches with. Unfortunately the bagels were very mediocre (a step or 2 above a store bought bagel). I like my bagels chewy and moist, but these were dry and too fluffy for my taste. And weirdly enough, they were salty yet didn't have a very strong everything bagel flavor. To be fair, Chicago is severely lacking in good bagels, so not sure if I should fault Schneider's for that, or wherever they source their bagels from. Either way, I hope they get their online ordering system straightened out.
