This a small cute cafe at the edge of Gold Coast and river north. The menu is very middle eastern inspired. The seating is ample and the menu looked exciting.You have to order at the kiosk and they bring your order to the table. The service isn't great though and the staff seemed a bit unfriendly. We ordered the Dubai chocolate iced latte and the star flatbread. Our order took ages! The Dubai chocolate latte was totally worth the wait though. It was chocolate, nutty and they didn't skimp on the nuts or the chocolate. The Zatar flatbread was a bit of a letdown, they overcooked it and it was too difficult to take a bite out of and although the seasoning was there, it lacked salt. Taking two stars off for the super slow service and the zatar flatbread. I will definitely be back for the Dubai chocolate latte! read more

Food - 3.5/5 The food was made to order but on the greasy side. Service - 3/5 Super slow service. I will say that this review comes the day of the Chicago Marathon so the influx of customers is probably outside of their norm, but still it was really slow. They look like they really have 1 tiny grill for any of their hot sandwiches. Ambiance - 3/5 No frills. Few couches and tables for groups and a high top counter for some. Few tables for small groups also but overall not a super big space or anything special. I stumbled on this place bc it's close by and had to go back! The staff is really nice and it feels homie but also cute and clean! Absolutely nothing impressed me -- the ingredients didn't seem fresh, the pre made sandwich combinations all seemed exactly the same, it wasnt really "toasted", etc. The coffee also was not great, but coffee with oat milk and vanilla syrup being less than $2 is an absolute steal... so I guess a star for that! This is a cozy place and is casual with comfortable seating and tables. Ordering can be done at a kiosk order station or directly at the counter. Whether you dine in or "take out" you pick up your order at the counter-no table service. The food is sandwich focused and is made on order which allows the customer to select or deselect or substitute items as they wish. The sandwiches are hand crafted all with local Chicago Street or Neighborhood titles-clever and fun. I ordered the Chicago Style Hot Dog which was standard but had a nice twist of pickled red onions! Delicious. My sandwich was also hearty and "on point" and I substituted Chipotle Mayo on the side. This deli/cafe recently opened and appears to be in "the soft" opening stages of operation. Bagel was great. The sauce was delicious and was toasted well. I'd say the bagel was solid 8/10. Ordered a smoothie, however, they were out of ingredients. Finally got the blueberry smoothie which tasted mid. Service wasn't horrible, the food came out within 10 minutes. Ambience was pretty nice since it was modern and had seating areas. Overall a 6.5/10 since the bagel was good but service and other stuff wasn't the greatest. read more

Very mediocre food for above average prices. Wanted an "all day breakfast" sandwich but I was told they weren't making them at the time, so ended up getting two make your own sandwiches. We ordered on touch screens and paid there too. The ordering was quick and easy, but once we paid we were told some of the ingredients were out. The sandwiches were not toasted, and the ingredients are pretty low quality. One sandwich had lettuce on it which was not requested so I had to pick off the lettuce mixed in with the sauces. The staff was pretty standoffish but that didn't affect my experience. Our total was $35 for two sandwiches and 2 deli pickles. I would rather spend that at potbelly's or jimmy John's or even Quiznos versus come back to this deli. read more

The Gold Coast finally has a deli in the neighborhood and it's a good one that's worth a try. I got a bacon egg and cheese on a bagel for $7 and it was about as good as it could get. The bacon was crispy and not fatty and the eggs had the perfect amount of runniness. My only feedback would be to cut the bacon egg and cheese on half and to offer rolls in addition to bagels. I will definitely be back to try their lunch options. read more

I used to love getting sandwiches at Gold Coast market, but have been real disappointed by the cafe. The first time I received a sandwich with only half of my requested ingredients, far lower quality than the market used to make. This is now my second time stopping in this time just to grab a coffee and there is only one worker. I have now been waiting 10 minutes to get an ice coffee before running to work. I got the Chicago Avenue sandwich of Black Forest Ham and Hard Salami this week. It was dry as can be. Fortunatley, I brought it home and put some kind of sauce on it to try to help it. I finally decided to give this place a try after realizing L'Appetito was closed on Sundays... and in all honesty it was disappointing. The sandwich (the Chestnut St) left a lot to be desired, it was a basic turkey sandwich I felt K could've made at home and not spent $13 on. There was very little flavor, cheese was hidden under everything else and by the time I got to the second half the ciabatta was weirdly soggy?? Overall the sandwich was a 5/10. I will note however that the man who made my sandwich was very friendly and the service was pleasant overall.
