Apple coffee cake
Rachael S.

This unassuming cafe located in the back of a high end clothing and gift space is beyond what you would expect. Serving breakfast and lunch, the Lunchroom in Space 519 is such a treat. We visited on a Tuesday morning around 10:00am and were seated right away. The menu focuses on farm to table California style cuisine and it certainly delivered. I usually go for savory breakfasts but love a sweet treat mixed in here and there. We started with their apple coffee cake which was crumbly and gooey at the same time, with perfectly cooked apple chunks, a delicate, crumbled topping and a perfectly oil-glazed exterior. We each ordered their daily quiche, one vegetable based and one meat based. Truly my only complaint was this was more of a frittata than quiche given there was no flakey, buttery crust to support the eggs, however, the dish was still delicious. My red pepper and white cheese slice was hot, rich and bouncy with impeccable flavor and texture. The meat quiche was well received by my dining partner as well. And how can I forget the side salad? Probably amongst the most impressive I've tasted...shaved brussel sprouts, kale and cabbage make up the simple base with a caper vinaigrette that provides a umami hit to balance out the soft, rich egg bake. On top of it all, the woman who managed the cafe popped by our table a few times to ensure we were enjoying our meal. I would say a must try if you are in the area, and would make reservations on a weekend for sure.

I want to start off by saying that the Black and White Cupcake from the bakery section here is phenomenal- one of the best cupcakes I've ever had. The gluten-free sprinkle cupcake looks amazing too, but beware that it's very dry and lacks flavor. I also tried the cinnamon roll which was very good, and for my dish I ordered the Farm Table Burrata. In terms of the restaurant itself, there's very limited seating. Tables are close together, it can get very loud during lunch, and you are basically looking into the kitchen while also inside of an expensive store... it's odd but eclectic. The manager woman is extremely friendly and you can tell that she cares a lot about the customers and their feedback. I thought the food was tasty, but I will only be coming back for that black and white cupcake!

Top notch service at this Gold Coast spot. The tomato basil soup was great and I don't even like tomato soup! Has the taste of a light, tasty marinara. Bbq chicken flatbread also had very good flavor. The bread is on the thick side and it needed a bit more bbq sauce, but that was quickly provided when requested. Note that the flatbreads take a little while to make. Oh, and if you have a few hundred dollars to blow they have some fun clothing items.

SPACE519 is a cozy and stylish place--perfect for a relaxed lunch with friends or a solo salad-and-coffee kind of afternoon. The menu leans toward fresh and healthy, with salads and light plates that are satisfying, though not particularly mind-blowing. Still, everything tasted fine and the service was upbeat and attentive, which added to the overall vibe. What makes this spot stand out is the curated retail area attached to the café--think Neiman Marcus-style pieces, from fashion to gifts--which you can browse while waiting for your food. Great for a casual yet elevated daytime outing.

So delicate classy place ! The waiters and hostess were friendly and warm . There weren't rushing you . The food was melting in our mouths! Loved the potato salad ! Didn't have room for desert but it looked delicious. The latte and tea with honey were perfect. There are stairs to go up into the resturant. The shop is really classic . They hang up your coats . Make a reservation . Charlie and Drew were great No sur charge tips gratuity on 5 or more

This place is super chic inside and a great one-stop shop to browse the store, grab a coffee or bite, or sit down for a meal. The patio is lovely especially on a sunny day. But honestly it was a weird vibe at first. After we were seated outside, I noticed that the staff were spending more time at other tables explaining the menu and such but kind of being standoffish towards us. They also didn't offer water or anything for my tired, thirsty puppy, which is a first. It got the job done though.. I forgot about the weird vibes for a while when the food arrived though. I ordered the avocado toast club sandwich. It was on perfectly crusty bread with fresh chicken breast, bacon, avocado, Mayo, and tomato. It was yummy and filling, but I wish it had a more flavorful sauce like a Chipotle, aioli, or pesto though. I appreciated the flavorful watermelon salad on the side. My boyfriend ordered the multigrain pancakes, which were like homemade with the hint of cinnamon.

I recently stumbled upon a hidden gem that combines my favorite things - a cute cafe in an apothecary store. From the moment you step inside, you are welcomed with an apothecary with the modern appeal of a trendy café. I went there for a late brunch with a friend. And we ordered Avocado toast, Bangkok bowl, Cappuccino and Chaider tea. The tea has apple cider (which is quite healthy) but a bit too sweet for our taste and it was a part of a special menu. The star of the show, of course, is the Bangkok bowl. Even though on the menu it says SPICY. It wasn't spicy. Everything blended togther so well and nothing was overpowering. The chunky peanuts were adding it to the flavor. It was served with lime wedge which we didn't need to use as it was perfectly flavorful already. I can't help but sing praises for their avocado toast. The toast is perfectly toasted, with just the right amount of crunch, and the avocado spread is generously creamy, and they used the most perfectly ripen avocados. It was a bit on the expensive side as the cost was $20.95. But what truly sets this place apart is the apothecary element. The store boasts a wide range of herbs, teas, candles, skincare, stationary, and wellness products. Might add some therapeutic dimension to your visit. The service was overall satisfactory, with an attentive staff. Overall I will recommend The Lunchroom. Whether you're seeking a delicious brunch or natural remedies to enhance your well-being, this place offers the best of both worlds.

Food (5/5): - We ordered the Carolina bbq chicken flatbread and the avocado toast club. I also ordered an iced latte with oat milk - Carolina bbq chicken flatbread was delicious and generously portioned. I loved the tangy flavor of the bbq sauce, especially when paired with the cheese and red onions sprinkled on top. I would say it is shareable between two people. - Avocado toast club sandwich was also really delicious and refreshing. The avocado was so nicely creamy and refreshing. The bacon, chicken, and tomatoes complemented the avocado well. In terms of portioning, I would say it is best suited for only one person. - Iced latte was pretty standard. Nothing too special but I did enjoy the creaminess of it Service (5/5): - It seemed that they were a bit understaffed but our server did his best and seemed apologetic when mistakes occurred. Overall, I have no complaints and thought they did a great job Ambiance (5/5): - Very aesthetic restaurant. They have an store right next to the dining area where you can buy a bunch of special food items - Great for brunch with friends - I don't think I would bring a date here as it doesn't feel as intimate. It is very aesthetic though

Cute breakfast spot right in the middle of a shop! This is in the Streeterville/ Gold Coast area. A little pricey (for breakfast) but very tasty. Recommend the pastry sampler as your starter! You can shop when you've finished your meal. Service is great and attentive. Recommend you put in a reservation #chicago #breakfast #brunch

Perfect place for lunch! Service was good and the food came out fast. The avocado toast sandwich was great! The restaurant itself was cute and tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the mag mile.

We stopped in to get a few to go items. After we purchased we thought about sitting in the dining area and was told by slightly pretentious cashier in the front that the restaurant doesn't allow this. While I understand the theory behind this I think exceptions need to be made. We were there at a non busy time. There were plenty of seats open upstairs and our purchase was almost $40. The cinnamon rolls cream cheese frosting was good but the roll itself was extremely dry. The zucchini and kale muffin was the best item out of the 6 different items we tried. I was also told they do not serve decaf espresso

In browsing through the pictures of Cindy's Rooftop, it looked like it hit that criteria spot-on. The pictures did not lie. When entering the restaurant, the views of Lake Michigan through floor to ceiling windows were amazing and it was nice to enjoy the bright natural light from the glass roof. Once seated, I told our server, Gerardo that it was her birthday and he immediately got her a glass of bubbly on him! He was positive and easy to talk to. This was quite the contrast with the service at Bar Mar for dinner the night before where the server made no attempt to make the night special. We ordered the Blueberry French Toast and the Chilaquiles. The french toast was superb, being thick, fluffy and sweet. The Chilaquiles were pretty average...what I'd expect at a cheap Mexican joint so at $25, it was quite pricey but I will say the over-medium eggs were cooked perfectly. Throughout brunch, Gerardo checked on us frequently and when I asked for the check, he came back with a dessert and a candle as a final gesture to making my girlfriend's day special. I am so glad we came here because it truly was an experience, thanks to the great service, beautiful rooftop, and good food.

Guess you're paying for the downtown rooftop views with your food Our server was nice and attentive and my water glass was never empty.
