Strawberry crepes

Nookies on wells offers a dining like menu in the big city of Chicago. A locally and family owned restaurant offering breakfast with unique menu items. Like Mexican chilaquiles and offering many different pancakes and crepes options. They have everything from smoothies, juices, and all of your traditional and non traditional breakfast options. It can get quite busy on the weekends so I would try to go as early as possible. Definitely a spot I would go back to again.

Tried this place on a random weekday because the line is always out the door on Saturdays and Sundays! I've gotten so many recs from people to go here, and it looks so cute but haven't been able to get in before. There's a lot of seating indoors and a cute patio outside. We were seated immediately and didn't have to wait long at all to be served. I ordered an orange juice and a chai latte. My boyfriend got the chicken and waffles and I got the pesto egg scramble for my main. I will say I was a little skeptical of how the scramble would be, but I ended up really enjoying it. It was a very filling meal for a busy day that we were about to have. I tried the chicken and waffles as well and also really enjoyed them. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place if you like breakfast foods, and to sit outside if the weather is nice!!

Gyro Omelette

I stopped by Nookies on Wells this past Saturday around brunch time, and I was a little underwhelmed. When we arrived, the restaurant was pretty busy, but we were seated immediately. I ordered the gyro omelette w/ hash browns & sour dough bread. I also ordered a strawberry orange OJ (not pictured). The server first brought out my OJ. It was so delicious & tasted fresh & pulp-y. My only critique is that it was unfortunately warm/ at room temperature. The server eventually brought out my food. I immediately was wowed by the portion size. The omelette was quite big & also came with sides, which was amazing. The omelette tasted pretty good... you could definitely taste the gyro. However, the hash browns & sour dough toast were so bland & flavorless. The sour dough toast also just tasted like plain toast, so I was very confused... Overall, I had a mediocre experience at Nookies. Not sure I would return.

Please help me understand this Just Eggs item..I did not get hash browns and was told that was extra..very confusing and ridiculous explanation from staff. Will not go back

Chicken noodles soup

The chicken noodle soup was super salty. I shared burger with my cousin wasn't that good and tasty. The service was poorly, I had to go to take a spoon since I didn't got one for the soup and nobody was near to ask. The place it's cute but that's it. Don't think I'll ever get back...

One of my favorite brunch spots in Chicago! They have a huge menu and every dish is a huge portion. Definitely recommend sharing multiple dishes with people. Everything on their menu is good and you can't go wrong with whatever you choose. They usually have a wait but it's not super long.

There were four of us in our party and we stopped in for breakfast on Saturday, around 10 am. There wasn't a wait to sit inside when we arrived, however there was a wait to sit outside. Immediately upon sitting, we were given waters, which is always nice. Shortly after that our waiter stopped by greeted us, asked if we had any questions and took our drink orders. It took us sometime to figure out what we wanted, everything sounded so good. So we all ordered various breakfast entrees, but we also ordered something to spilt as an appetizer. On the specials menu was a trio of "sweets" it had two different french toasts, and one stack of pancakes. Man were they tasty, totally worth it. I think the cinnamon roll pancakes were my favorite, but honestly they were all amazing. For my entree, I had a Gyro omelet. The omlettes are made with three eggs, so they are rather big. The Gyro omelet comes with everything you'd expect on your favorite Gyro, and they were not shy with the ingredients either. It was really good, and I get it again and recommend it to anyone who likes Gyros. Everyone else commented on how good their food was and how much they liked everything. Our server was on it and was very attentive. We would come back again and recommend Nookies to anyone in the area.

Went to Nookies for brunch! It's a really great spot for a laid back Sunday brunch with your family. Great options on the menu. We got the green skillet. There were a lot of greens and we got the eggs done sunny side up! Well cooked. Wish the sourdough bread was a bit fresher and more toasted so that it would go better with the rest of the dish.

This is a great place if you are looking for breakfast or brunch outside. Their patio is a nice tree-lined spot between two buildings. It's very shady and very cool. I really enjoyed hanging out here for brunch. The food is decent, large portions, and the service is quick for a weekday morning. It's a great place if you are in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. The eggs Florentine and the veggie omelet are tasty, but the hash browns leave much to be desired. The hash browns are the consistency of a mashed up baked potato, so I would skip them. Be careful if you ask for salsa. I requested it, and they brought me two bowls and they charged me $2.50 for each bowl. This is just highway robbery.

Breakfast Bar

Nookies on Wells is all about the food; the creative breakfast dishes, portion sizes and variety with something for everyone. Whatever breakfast dish fits the appetite at the time, whether it be pancakes with different ingredients, egg dishes, omelets and skillets, Nookies chefs do it right. So I ordered the Pesto Scramble made with Pesto sauce and goat cheese. If you like pesto and goat cheese this is a treat. Soft, fluffy egg dish with amazing flavor. It is nothing like I've had before. We also split (4 of us) the Banana Nut Pancakes o and the seasonal Pumpkin Pancakes. Large thick soft pankake portions and both not subtle tasting but full of flavors. Also other egg dishes we ordered over medium. All these breakfast dishes were served with delicious Canadian Bacon. What a treat. The menu has a huge creative variety of Omelettes, Skillets, Pancakes, Frittatas, Egg dishes and breakfast sandwiches. It seems that no matter what we ordered, they cooked it better than anyone. Nookie's service and cheerful attitude added to a great experience. Our waiter was very enthusiastic when explaining the choices we made and he was right on. There is a coffee bar you can sit at in the middle of the dining rooms and added to the atmosphere if you want to get served there. Nookies does not take reservations so there could be a wait (unless you read this and decide to get there early). We will definitely be coming back and because there is so much more to try we will come back often.

Gyro Skillet, sweet trio, Vegetarian Omelette with bacon added

Delicious and cute no frills breakfast spot. My only complaint is the price - though the portions are big, I was very surprised that our bill for two came out to about $90. We came on a Wednesday and enjoyed sitting at the breakfast bar stools. The vegetarian omelet (added bacon, chose mozzarella cheese and a biscuit and hashbrowns as my sides) was absolutely divine and not too dry like baked omelets tend to be. I also got a fruit cup, which I realized I didn't need but probably paid about $6 extra for a very small portion. My fiancé's gyro skillet was also tasty especially with the tzatziki sauce on the side. Of course we needed to try something sweet, and the sweet trio was just too good to pass up. I'm not sure what the difference was between the first two French toasts, but both were so soft, sweet, and piled with a delicious sauce and berries. The cinnamon roll pancakes though were still my favorite and also delectably sweet and soft. Everything was great, as was the bottomless coffee and service. I just couldn't believe the price for breakfast - could've paid just as much for a fancy dinner.

Croissant French Toast Napoleon
Nichole X.

Since they don't take reservation, we didn't have a chance to try until today. The service was fast; however, the food was about average. We got the French toast, Croissant Napoleon and enchiladas. Everything was in generous portions! I had a higher expectation for croissant napoleon. It was tasty, but I wish the croissant layer be more flaky/crispy. Although the corn flakes added some crunchiness to it, the croissant layer was mostly gooey. I'm planning to go back for other dishes and maybe I'll find a favorite one.

A great neighborhood brunch spot. We stopped by around 1:00pm and the place was packed. They seated us quickly and took our drink order. Our waitress stopped by shortly after to take our order, we had the Steak & Eggs and a Chorizo Omelette. It did take a minute for our food to be ready, but I can't fault them for how busy they were. The place has been around for over 51 years but the interior must have been redone recently because it feels very modern.

Overpriced for basic breakfast food. The outdoor patio is cute but I wouldn't go back for the food.

But it is seriously just a greasy smash burger. Their fries are good, and actually stand out more than the burger. Everything is overpriced. I don't know why people complain about the wait; do some research like a responsible adult. I never just walk into a place and expect to be immediately seated, I call first - like anyone who has some sense. If they tell you the wait is 2 hours and you have 2 hours to kill, there are a bunch of bars in the area where you can have some drinks and an appetizer (and not feel like you're stiffing Au Cheval; they're the ones with the 2 hour wait, what do they expect people to do?) Not much to say about the decor or ambience; it's a typically loud West Loop bar with mostly 20 - 30 somethings all trying to one-up each other with their trendiness that instead makes them all basically clones of each other. It is crowded, and you're a moron if you think any place like this is suitable for your 5 year old. That's not the restaurant's fault - it's not Chuck E Cheese. Often I wish Yelp offered a 1/2 star option, because there are places that are a 4.5 or a 3.5. Not in this case. 3 stars is spot-on.

When I asked about the wait time, the host joked that it was two hours. Under normal circumstances, I would have laughed and played along. Given what had just happened minutes earlier, it did not quite land... but to their credit, the moment I explained the situation, everything shifted. They sat me promptly and turned what could have been a lingering bad night into a completely different experience. Julio, my server, set the tone immediately. Julio was professional, attentive, and generous. He brought out meatballs on the house, which were excellent. I ordered calamari, rigatoni alla vodka with shrimp, and what I believe was a chocolate torte for dessert (also on the house, which I was not expecting). Everything was spot on. The rigatoni in particular stood out. It was made in house and had the kind of texture and quality you notice right away. The Manager (Lance) also stopped by, having been present when I explained what had happened earlier. That kind of awareness and follow-through matters more than people realize. It what separates a place that serves food from a place that understands hospitality. By the time I was finishing dessert, I found myself watching pizzas go out to nearby tables and immediately reconsidering my menu choices for the evening. That's usually a good sign. The host who initially joked about the wait time also came by at the end of my meal. She was polite, thoughtful, and clearly intentional about making sure the experience landed well. I appreciated this gesture. When the bill came, I asked what the total would have been without the discounts and complimentary items. Once I had that number, I tipped Julio the difference. It felt like the only appropriate way to reflect the level of service and generosity I received. I'll be back (for the pizza). Overall: Food (yes) Service (yes) Ambiance (yes)

We had to wait a little bit for a table so we sat at the bar because my friend and I aren't drinkers. We just had glasses of water while we waited for our table. Once we got seated, our server took our order relatively quickly and we ordered the House made for Kasha with a goat cheese and honey topping, the grilled octopus appetizer, and because we were enjoying our conversation so much we ended up just skipping Wright to dessert and ordering the gooey butter cake. For a light meal, this was relatively satisfactory. Our server said they come to the octopus because we waited so long, so it was nice that the staff was acknowledging that we waited a little bit for our table and we're willing to compensate us. As someone who lives in the river north area, I have actually been here, probably a dozen times, and it's always a good little spot but a little bit pricey for what you're getting. I would still probably come back with some friends, but I wouldn't go on my way to come here if I was bringing people off from out of town.

After doing a search on Yelp, I decided we should check out HIDE+SEEK. Ding ding ding! We have a winner folks. We decided to go with the Brunch Party. First let me start off saying that Brunch Party is one plate, one side, and endless mimosas. The entire table participation is required and there is a strict 1.5 hour time limit. That said, Angelique (was our server) was on point during that time period. Our glasses never got pass the half-way mark and a good time was had by all! HIDE+SEEK has a pretty chilled vibe and the décor was cool, a very nice bar area, booths on the east side of the restaurant and tables in the front. I think there was a back area, but can't for sure as I didn't explore as we were seated immediately in our booth. Angelique was very cool. She welcomed us and asked if it was our first time there (it was) and began to explain the menu, focusing on Brunch Party and that everyone at the table had to participate, which we did. For my entrée I got the Short Rib Hash (Sunny side up egg, piquillo pepper, red wine jus, rosemary mornay) and my side was Eggs Your Way (over easy). I got an order of the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes (honey-whipped ricotta, blueberry compote, maple syrup) for the table. Both dishes were very nice. I am a sucker for anything with short rib meat in it and this hit well with me. The pancakes were good, nice and fluffy, and the compote was very good. They weren't as lemony as I have had at other restaurants. The flavor was there, but in a subtle way, almost like an afterthought, but still nice. The pancakes themselves were nice and fluffy, just they way I like them. The Doctor got the cheeseburger and fries, which looked nice. He cleaned his plate so I have to assume it was good. The Queen got the Steak and Eggs. I had a bite of the steak and it was tender and had a nice flavor to it. Overall we had a great time and while it was only an hour and a half, it seemed longer. I will totally come back here again for brunch, but want to check out their happy hour and dinner as well. The menus looks interesting.

She also had no idea about the wine, so my friend just rolled the dice on what she wanted without knowing much about it. She wound up liking it - but more clarity would've been helpful (or even seeking out someone else working there for more info!). Minor environment note: The largest artwork there is a triptych of photographs - three famous women: Princess Diana, Sharon Tate (I think?), and Marilyn Monroe. There is a horizontal band going across where their eyes all line up, and the band replaces their eyes with cartoon eyes, likely of Disney princesses. It is supposed to be quirky but I found it creepy, especially since it featured three famous women who met untimely ends.
