We had a great breakfast at Doma Cafe! The breakfast sandwich was delicious, and we added avocado, sausage, and bacon... it was absolutely worth it. The food was definitely the highlight, and most of the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. The only downside was one interaction we had. When we arrived, there were six open tables, but five still had dirty dishes on them. We grabbed the last clean table while our friends ordered. I tried to get someone's attention to clear a table, but one employee ignored me. After our friends finished ordering, we started stacking the dishes to help make room, and that same employee became visibly upset, told us to leave everything alone, and cleaned the table rather aggressively. I completely understand they were busy, but it was a little confusing since there were four employees behind the counter at the time, including him, chatting while the tables remained uncleared. Incredible food. Worth the hype. You may think that a simple breakfast meal cannot be done wrong but there are so many restaurants that prove that wrong. I got a delivery order that consisted of the sausage egg and cheese, hash brown, and the seeded honey granola & yogurt. The SEC was good but maybe a bit overhyped. The hot sauce is money and the eggs were probably the 2nd best part - super fluffy and the cheese is perfectly melty. The sausage was lackluster though. Nothing special about the patty & it was pretty small (it didn't fill up the entire sandwich). The hash brown was good - I loved the honey mustard! However, it could've been crispier. The yogurt bowl had a great balance of flavors. The cherry compote and house made granola was awesome. However, I think the portion was kinda small for the price. Finally got to try this place! Super yummy and definitely fulfills your breakfast cravings with a Croatian twist. They were also featured on "The Bear" on Hulu. The breakfast sandwich is great! For me, this is the best breakfast in Chicago. I honestly wish I had pictures of the breakfast plate but I dont because my focus is on the food when o visit. I've never sat in the restaurant, I typically get my goods to go. But this is the most balanced, most delicious, simple ingredient breakfast in Chicago. My go to is the breakfast plate: PERFECTLY scrambled eggs, crispy savory hash brown, and the Cevapi sausage with avocado and mixed greens. The environs are very pleasant, so I would certainly spend time here with a coffee if the occasion permitted. But as it relates to the signature egg and cheese on an English muffin, I found the scrambled eggs plentiful but a bit dry. The hot sauce wasn't really enough to uplift the sandwich for me. Unfortunately, my experience here was underwhelming. I ordered the turkey sandwich & it came out with a bunch of raw bacon on it. I was told that the bacon is precooked and put on the sandwich, so I ordered another without the bacon on it. It was not only not crispy, it just wasn't cooked. Even after I got it without the bacon, I didn't really enjoy it. My boyfriend enjoyed his breakfast sandwich with the sausage, even though the egg was a little thick. I really wanted to love this, and it was solid meal, but looking back, nothing to rave about. We came here at the end of summer and there was a LINE out the door. We waited maybe 20-30 min in line before we finally made it inside and got seated. Absolutely packed inside. Definitely a good vibe for a weekend brunch, lovely interior with lots of sunlight, but it was a bit weird dining next to the line of people waiting to get seated and overhearing their commentary on what's on everyone's tables. The line also grew exponentially while we were eating since it was getting close to noon. We ordered the Breakfast Plate and Chicken Caesar Wrap. Breakfast Plate was expensive for what it was. The hash brown that came with it was probably the only stand out. It was perfectly crispy and not dry. The Chicken Caesar Wrap was flavorful although a bit dry at times. If I had to get it again, I would just get it in salad form. I wouldn't pass up on the chance to come back, but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come try this place again. If you're looking for an overpriced restaurant with poor customer service, this may be the place for you. The staff seemed too busy to even wipe down the tables, and when my partner tried to be helpful by picking something up, they were met with a raised voice instead of appreciation. I've worked in the restaurant industry myself, and I understand how stressful it can be. Even so, I have never thought it was acceptable to raise my voice at a customer who was simply trying to help. Respect and professionalism should be the standard, especially at a restaurant charging premium prices. Updating my review since I've been back a few times and tried more menu items. I recently tried the breakfast sandwich which I loved! The eggs were quite fluffy and the English muffin was tasty. Highly recommend getting the hash brown too - it's delicious. The Caesar salad is yummy also! The kata club is still probably one of my favorite things; it's just so unique and fresh. It was very busy on a Saturday at 10:30am but also not impossible to find a table.
