I got a delivery order that consisted of the sausage egg and cheese, hash brown, and the seeded honey granola & yogurt. The SEC was good but maybe a bit overhyped. The hot sauce is money and the eggs were probably the 2nd best part - super fluffy and the cheese is perfectly melty. The sausage was lackluster though. Nothing special about the patty & it was pretty small (it didn't fill up the entire sandwich). The hash brown was good - I loved the honey mustard! However, it could've been crispier. The yogurt bowl had a great balance of flavors. The cherry compote and house made granola was awesome. However, I think the portion was kinda small for the price. Everything here is kinda overpriced for what you get. While good, I'm not sure I'll order from here again considering how $ it is and how I wasn't blown away by any of the offerings.
There's usually a huge line here because they're known for their breakfast sandwiches. The sandwich was solid, just had a little too much sauce for me. 7.5/10. The hashbrown tasted homemade and was pretty good. 7/10. The cevapi was okay, nothing special. 6/10. The Earl Grey milk tea was way too thick and I couldn't even finish it. 3/10. It's definitely loud and high energy in there, and with so many people waiting for tables, you kind of feel rushed while eating. Service was still good though. You order at the counter and they bring the food out to you.
Finally got to try this place! Super yummy and definitely fulfills your breakfast cravings with a Croatian twist. They were also featured on "The Bear" on Hulu. The breakfast sandwich is great! It's simple yet delicious - it's not trying too hard. The english muffin is soft and they don't skimp on the egg. The sauce adds a good flavor and is not over bearing. The cevapi was delicious too! It was my friends first time trying Croatian food too. Great portion for sharing! Great flavor! We each ordered a hashbrown but mine was taking long for some reason. They gave us an extra one for free as an apology. That's great customer service to me!
After seeing all the hype for what was rated one of Chicago's best breakfast sandwiches, I was a bit disappointed by this (aesthetically lovely) Balkan-American fusion cafe in River North. The environs are very pleasant, so I would certainly spend time here with a coffee if the occasion permitted. But as it relates to the signature egg and cheese on an English muffin, I found the scrambled eggs plentiful but a bit dry. The hot sauce wasn't really enough to uplift the sandwich for me. All to say, I would view this more as a solid neighborhood joint rather than a destination breakfast.
Asked a rando at the gym their favorite breakfast sandwich spot and Doma was it so I decided to try. Able to order online through toast to save some time. Sausage, egg, and cheese on an English muffin with a legendary hash brown. They have a takeout/pickup window which is nice. Took about 10 minutes which wasn't bad since I ordered online. Sandwich itself was nice with a little spice. Egg was fluffy and light, cheese was ooey and gooey. Hashbrown stole the show with the honey mustard dipping sauce. Crispiest hash brown I've ever had! Sandwich was $10 and the hash brown was $4. Well worth the drive to try.
My brother-in-law took me and my fiancé to this café while we were in Chicago. From the outside, it looks like a simple quiet café but as you enter, you realize they have a back patio that is completely packed. We went here on a Saturday morning for a little snack and substance, and we were absolutely thrilled by the amazing food. You're supposed to enter the line and order at the counter and then get seated. They will deliver the food to your seat. Our favorite was definitely the olive oil cake slices and the hashbrowns. Definitely worth a try.
Cute cozy little cafe serving Mediterranean options. On a weekday morning, the place was pretty busy with most of the tables full. We ordered at the counter and our order was brought out to us pretty quickly. I got the lentil soup and avocado toast combo which was 10/10 value. The soup was flavorful and so warming especially on a chilly fall day. Avocado toast was good as well. For drink, I got a matcha latte which was perfectly creamy. Overall, a solid cafe spot. Nothing blew me away, but would still recommend!
Just when I thought I hated going out to breakfast....I went to Doma and rediscovered my love for a good cafe!!! You order at the counter at Doma, so it's definitely more of a cafe vibe than a sit down breakfast / brunch which I loved. They had so many things I wanted to try, including the coffee which looked amazing. My absolute favorite was the breakfast sandwich. The eggs were SO FLUFFY and the english muffin was soft on the inside but had a very slight crunch on the outside. The hash brown was the best I've ever had. It was incredibly crispy on the outsides and came with honey mustard and ketchup - YUM!!!! The chicken caesar was just alright in my opinion and was very expensive for that it was. Overall, I LOVED Doma and cannot WAIT to go back!!!!!
Doma Cafe we love you! Truly somewhere you can rely on for good eats... and it's approachable, so it's a win win. Let's bring back chill dining establishments that don't have too many frills. I've tried much of the menu and can report that the breakfast sandwich is hyped for a reason. That English muffin is magical, eggs and proteins are cooked well, the ratios are right on and oh boy that hot sauce with the slight sweetness is just a wow. I could also eat the turkey sandwich everyday, it's amazing and I think you should try. I appreciate that they offer half and whole portions of their lunch sammies. It's counter service and the food typically comes quick. They do a popular carry out business with a separate walk up window. Chill vibes for dine in.
My friend and I stopped by this place after a pickleball session, having seen it recently in a Jeremy Allen reel on Instagram. We ordered freshly squeezed orange juice and an avocado toast. The juice was super refreshing after our game, and we went slightly off the menu to get the avocado toast. The place is small with limited seating, but we didn't have to wait even though we went around brunch time. It has a cozy, brunchy vibe, you place your order at the counter, and they give you a placard with your number. Overall, it's a nice, casual spot for brunch. I'd definitely recommend it for brunch.
Whew - finally made it to Doma Cafe for the breakfast sandwich. I live right next to it, but there's always such a long line on weekends. Decided to try it out on a Wednesday at 11am and that was the right move! Ordered inside at the counter and my food was delivered at the outside patio relatively quickly. Ordered the breakfast sandwich with sausage and their house made hash brown. GET THE HASH BROWN. Added it to my sandwich just to feel a little somethin. The sandwich reminds you of an egg McMuffin, if an egg McMuffin was good and had bursting flavors you can't determine. We love nostalgia. But seriously, this was savory, sweet, and spicy and I had no clue what on the sandwich was giving it that flavor! I I ate each individual item to further determine and found the sauce packed it all in - the sweetness made this stand out for me. Balanced with the savory of the sausage ... come on!!! I'll take 14 of them right now.
Cozy European cafe with one of my favorite breakfast sandwiches in the area - the texture of the egg is amazing. The dirty matcha is good but expensive. Would love to try the other items like cevapi, burek etc. in the future as they're harder to find here. Can get busy during the weekends so challenging to find an open table especially for a bigger group. read more
This place is it!!! Aesthetic Amazing food Crafted pastries Excellent coffee They even have cute dishware and perfect salsa. The egg sandwich was like no other. It doesn't skimp out on the egg- there must be at least two making up that delicious pile of fluffy omlette. The olive cake slice is a Doma classic. Perfect light breakfast to have with their flawless cappuccino. (I'd completely raid their pastry case if I had the chance). Oh, and I can't forget their hash brown. The BEST IVE EVER HAD!!! The food here and service was awesome. The person at the counter greeted us and helped us find a table to set our stuff at while we ordered. Coffee was great and the mugs were so cute. Many many sundays spent here I love everything about Doma. It's the perfect brunch spot with clean Scandi vibes and Croatian eats. Weekends get pretty busy but usually there are tables available in the "patio" area so don't let the crowd scare you. On weekdays this becomes a great wfh spot! Doma pancakes might be my favorite in the city. The dreamiest fluffy density with the home made warmth and taste, served with an aesthetic side of butter and syrup. They're rly big too so great to share If you want sth savory AND want to try their famous cevapi and hash browns, get the breakfast plate. A truly balanced meal with greens, protein, fats, and carbs. You can never go wrong with a breakfast sandwich and Doma makes theirs with a thic, fluffy layer of folded egg. Their house made secret hot sauce is super yum and the best part about dining in is that you can use an unlimited amount. Not pictured but I love their grain bowl too. Crispy brown rice is mixed in with a yummy walnut basil pesto and topped with sweet potato & greens. Doma is such a cute neighborhood hole in the wall! They offer a slew of fancy & intriguing flavored coffees alongside delicious American and Croatian kitchen offerings. From pastries to health-centered menu options, Doma really has something for everyone. I have visited several times and really enjoyed every experience. It's almost always packed with a chatty atmosphere, so a group of 4 or less would likely yield the best chance at securing a table. Staff is always very kind and professional despite the busy crowd. It's definitely a great place to casually catch up with friends or just fly solo! On previous visits, I have tried the vegan Kata Klub sandwich, Grain Bowl, Madjarica cake, and linzer cookie. As a butternut squash lover, I was really looking forward to the Kata Klub. All of the ingredients were extremely high quality and fresh- I loved how the crispy slaw contrasted with the creamy avocado. The sandwich was filling but not heavy. However, I found the sandwich to be rather bland- there was so much potential, but it seemed like there was not a strong direction to the flavor profile. The squash could have been great with cinnamon, hot honey, and some sliced pear or apple; alternatively, the dish could have been a great zesty option with the addition of cilantro/parsley/lime, etc. The Grain Bowl was absolutely delicious! Soft boiled egg, avocado, and spinach came together for a hearty but healthy dish. The rice was to die for- there were crispy, toasted bits mixed in with the moist bedding, all prepared in a walnut basil pesto sauce. My only qualm is that the dish tasted unsalted, so I spent a lot of time with the salt shaker during the meal. The pastries were tasty but unmemorable, giving a bit of "day-old" impressions (at least when I visited). The burek and olive oil cake looked very good, however. While there are opportunities to elevate some dishes with extra seasoning and tweaking, this is such a great and unique spot to have in the neighborhood. Will definitely be back! read more
We went on a Sunday afternoon and they were quite packed! Luckily we were able to find a table for 2. We ordered at the counter, paid, and received a number to put on a table. They warned us that the kitchen was backed up and it could easily take at least 20 min for us to receive our order. It wound up taking only about 10 min. The kata club is great. I love butternut squash and it's not your typical vegan sandwich but I didn't find anything lacking about this minus maybe including a side? The price was only for the sandwich, no sides which was a little steep to me at over $10 when this place has no special vibe and almost has a sterile look. However, still giving a 5 star rating since the food was really good. My bf loved the breakfast sandwich but it was smaller than what he was expecting for the price. I've never left a review before. I'm leaving one because of how bad my experience was yesterday. To start, my meal wasn't good at all. They have the option for a soft boiled egg on the menu and when I ordered it the person at the counter acted surprised and was rude about it.. saying "I guess we can do that." When the eggs came they looked so gross and old, I've attached a picture. They were also not soft boiled and the sausage was cold. Also we waited on line for a while (that's fine) but when we got to the counter we ordered our food, 60 dollars worth, and I had a small unlabeled coffee in my hand. The man at the counter was very rude and made me throw it. I'm not sure what my attention my small coffee would have really caused especially after spending 60 dollars worth of food and what was I going to do, leave after waiting on line for that long and ordering our food. Mind you, we did order drinks. I'm very disgusted at this place. Again, I've never left a review in my life and I took the time to write this. I gave two stars because some of the other staff were kind and the green juice was good. But I'll never be coming back here and I really don't recommend coming here. read more

Super cute cafe in a bit of an odd location. The energy and smell when you walk in feels so nostalgic for reasons unknown. It's cute and classy and feels like home. The workers were patient and kind. The platters and coffees were great for all preferences. The blueberry cake was absolutely delicious- fresh and light. The seeded bread was surprisingly crunchy and the six minute egg was difficult but delicious. I do wish they gave less butter as it was absurd. I get that presentation matters but waste is hard to swallow. Prices are high. We also sat for awhile with dirty plates everywhere. I wish they had a place to return them or had collected them. read more

Cute cafe that was quite busy Saturday mid-day! I would say Doma felt more of a brunch cafe than a study/coffee shop but I managed to be able to focus and get some work done here. There are several outlets along one wall! I got a rose cappuccino and it was the perfect amount of sweet! read more
10/10 breakfast sandwich. Eggs melted in your mouth and they put a generous amount of cheese on it. The bacon was a good add on. Probably the best breakfast sandwich you can get in the area - though on the more expensive side (~$9) You can order online to go because it does get a little busy inside. Came to doma cafe for a late lunch on weekday and I wish they closed later because it would've been a really cute spot to read or do work! We ended up getting the breakfast sandwich and Caesar salad with chicken. The breakfast sandwich was really flavorful and good, would highly recommend!! read more

I found this place on Yelp hoping I could find a quaint coffee shop to enjoy some delicious food and coffee away from the noise of River North. I found one of my favorite coffee places I've ever gone I went 3 days in a row during my visit to Chicago. I got their iced latte with oat milk and simple syrup and it was perfectly sweet and creamy. I enjoyed it out of their glassware which I think automatically makes the drink 10x better. I also got their avocado toast which is huge! They probably use a whole avocado for one slice of bread. Super simple and no fancy toppings, just the way I like it. Their chicken noodle soup was good but nothing special, i thought the chicken was a bit dry. Their homemade hashbrowns were definitely a highlight of my meals. I am a super fan of Mcdonalds hashbrowns and these were far better. The texture was crunchy on the outside and incredibly smooth on the inside. I also got their sausage and cheese breakfast sandwich (I got it without egg), and omg whatever sauce they add in there is crack. Sooo good. The person behind the counter was so sweet and the servers were kind and helpful. Cant wait to return when i go back to chicago! read more
I wasn't as impressed with Doma as I thought I was going to be, but I had built up a lot in my head. Overall I thought the breakfast sandwich was delicious, although I wasn't the biggest fan of the the sauce, and it was a decent size for the price. I also had an iced latte which was good! The back patio was really hot considering the sun was beating down and it's enclosed, so it kind of turns into a sauna room. There was also a little dog barking that was making my ears absolutely bleed. The front room is really loud and there's tons of people milling about waiting to order. Overall, I'd make my way back to Doma! read more
Food was excellent. We had the cevapi, breakfast sandwich, and the side of hash brown. The meat was flavorful, seasoned well, and juicy. The scrambled egg on the breakfast sandwich was so fluffy. The hash brown is one of the most interesting textures I've had: crispy on the outside, but mashed on the inside. The food also came out very quick. The interior felt homey, retro, and authentic. Servers were nice and kind, we could hear them joking around with each other so it was nice to feel like we were in a good environment. We also came in 30 minutes before closing and didn't feel like we were rushed to leave whatsoever, which I appreciated. read more

great quality and value! the sandwhichs are filling and the hashbrown was amazingly crispy. highly recommend sitting on the back patio vs the front to escape the long line so you can eat in peace. Also helps that the back is cozy even in the winter with great vibes. the food comes quickly and the extra hot sauce on the side is a must get. read more
we came for the saie pop up but so glad we discovered doma as well because the breakfast sandwich was sooooo good! so much egg/great portion size. liked the sauce, flavorful. and can choose between sausage, bacon or another and went with the sausage! also liked how the bread wasn't too dry as other breakfast sandwiches can be. the baked goods too looked good! I got the lavender one and also got a lavender matcha and while the matcha flavor itself was good, there were a little bit of matcha chunks in my drink. besides that, everything was delish! read more

River North is severely lacking in quality coffee options. Doma to the rescue. Housemade syrups and even a cashew/date milk option that they themselves make. The place was also 80% full with a mix of people grabbing breakfast or working on laptops. The food looks amazing with an extensive menu! I will def be back to try some grub read more

Let me de-influence you. This place is overhyped in my opinion. Food was okay, nothing that blew me away. We got an egg sandwich and the grain bowl. The homemade cashew date milk that was a $2 up-charge made my latte very watery and chunky? It was like it hadn't been strained. Jermey Allen White clearly doesn't have great taste. I've checked out Doma a few times with coworkers and we're all obsessed with it! It has a nice, calm ambiance in a unique spot.. and absolutely delicious food&drink! I think they have a really unique menu, especially considering the v basic lunch places River North offers. The Kata Klub is popular among my coworkers, and it looks so good- super packed with fresh veggies, plus it's served on local bread (Publican!). The grain bowl is also gorgeously veggie-packed. If you wanna go the sweet route, they have a granola with sour cherry compote garnished with mint... foincyyy. For what I've tried: the Ćevapi was excellent- the meat was super rich, and was served with the freshest pita (almost frybread-esque?!) with roasted red pepper dip & white onions for cronchhh. So good. The Avocado Toast was great (again on delish Publican bread) and so was the Six Minute Egg- I loved assembling the butter, chive and eggs on the crumbly seeded bread. Driiink-- the cappuccino is good, and I love their iced matcha latte! You really can't go wrong with their bevvies. All in all... BIG DOMA FAN read more

Cozy spot with strong Croatian influences, solid coffee options (Metric, I believe), pastry case and breakfast/lunch menu. Friendly service, lots of seating, including an enclosed back area filled with plants and unobtrusive music. Great spot to set up and do some work. read more
