Very hearty and tasty breakfast. Good service. Coffee is fresh and hot. Chicken and egg sandwich was a hit! Very large (messy) and filling.

CORN MEAL CAKES

Solid breakfast spot with a well rounded menu! The corn cakes didn't have a ton of flavor but I appreciated the amount of food. The sauce they came with was very good. Staff were very friendly and space was big! They have outdoor seating too.

Supreme Chorizo Hash and the chefs special French roast are on Chicago's Best list for a reason. The service was prompt and delightful. Pleasantly bright and warm setting. Thank you for the great experience Breakfast House!

Chicken & Waffles

The food and portions are very good. My friend had coffee and I had a latte both were so tasty. The chicken was fried a little hard but I don't mind that. The waffle was buttery tasteful. The service was wonderful and the food came quickly. Overall I enjoyed the experience

Pancakes with fresh fruit

I was walking around the neighborhood and stumbled upon Breakfast House, and I'm so glad I did. They just opened and already feel like a neighborhood favorite. The pancakes were delicious!!!!! fluffy, fresh, and perfectly topped. The service was super friendly and welcoming, and the whole place felt cozy and homey, like a spot you want to keep coming back to. Can't wait to return and try more of the menu. Highly recommend!

Turkey wrap and chopped chicken salad
Audrey R.

the place that used to be there was borderline abhorrent so so happy to see a new spot - there was a steady flow of customers midday on a Monday which is always a good sign! the inside is classic diner with some cringe grandma's kitchen artwork. lots of space around the tables and booths. - we ordered the chopped salad which was filled with chicken, tomatoes, bacon, and blue cheese for only $15. I feel like a lot of restaurants price up their salads when they add any form of meat so I was very happy with this. the chicken was perfectly charred and not dry. - my only salad qualm that they are very limited on their dressings. the one that went best with this was ranch, which really was pretty boring and not house made - we also got a turkey wrap, which was a surprisingly delicious meal. their fries are thick cut yet still crispy on the outside with a good amount of salt. the sandwich itself was so moist and soft with a ton of thinly cut turkey, cheese, and a flavorful, chipotle mayo that wasn't too overpowering that it made it feel heavy. would totally order again - the service was very attentive and kind! maybe a little too attentive like taking our plates the second we swallowed our last bite. but I'd rather that than MIA!!

STEAK AND EGGS, Vanilla ICED Latte

Food was phenomenal! Service and staff was also a 10/10 highly recommend. First time will be back.

I created my own omelette and it was delicious, the oatmeal pancake incredible!

Average, food makes sense for the prices. Wouldn't eat here again though, would rather support a local business.

Within the old Gate area of Chicago Chinatown on Wentworth sit two Chinese (Cantonese) bakeries…read more Chiu Quon was by far the more popular of the two. It is newer and sharper looking. Staff spoke English well. Customers included many westerners as well as the expected Asians. Chiu Quon is cash only, same as Feida across the street. I was generally quite excited about what I might find here. The name Chiu Quon 超群 is a 50+ years old bakery in Hong Kong (English name Maria's bakery). I was wondering if it had any association. Alas, no. Be that as it may, this Chiu Quon is a 1986 institution in Chicago Chinatown. So, they deserve their own applause. I was on a mission per a friend's request to find 'chicken little cookies' 雞仔餅 or as CQ calls it, Phoenix Cookies. That was the first thing I bought. Alas, my friend reported they are oddly sweet instead of savory. Well, each has their own family recipes. I did side by side comparisons with Feida. The CQ pastries are a bit more refined, prettier, a reasonable filling to crust ratio, but also smaller, less filled, and $0.25 more. Items we bought: - Wife pastry 老婆饼, filled with wintermelon filling (no chunks) - Red bean pastry 豆沙酥, a smaller flat round type - Crystal gel pastry 香蕉糕. This old school soft steamed glutinous rice mochi roll is now commonly vanilla flavor. Theirs have a bit of red bean inside. Their version was quite sweet. - Red bean filled pastry bar with walnuts. We liked this item the most. Plump, well filled with red bean, the walnut has a balance to the sweetness, minimum crust. We bought more to bring home. All items were around $2.50. I honestly like both bakeries and wish we have lower cost options at home.

We got a few buns and pastries, then ate them inside at the standing counter they had along the window by the front door. Prices seemed fair, and the space was clean - felt like your typical Chinese bakery. Overall, we left feeling full with our choices and it was a nice experience. Thanks, Chiu Quon!

Recommendations: Breakfast Meal…read moreBBQ Pork Bun Pineapple Milk Custard Bun We went to st. Anna for breakfast on Labour Day morning. We ordered the breakfast meal sets, which came with two mini pineapple buns and spam macaroni. We also ordered a breakfast plate with scrambled eggs and fried spam. The breakfast meals come with hot drinks and are only around $9, which is a great value. There are only 5 tables for dine in, first come first serve! The bakery also offers a variety of freshly made pastries and buns. Our favorites were the BBQ pork bun and the pineapple milk custard bun. Both were flavorful and fresh. It is a great spot for an affordable breakfast and some fresh bakery items.

Our family and extended family often ordered birthday cakes from them, and their mango cake was our favorite. When mangoes were in season, they used plenty of fresh mango in the cakes. Their cakes are always fresh, light, fluffy, and not too sweet. My daughter and I also love their individual cakes, especially the Black Pearl and Walnut Cake. Their pineapple buns and egg tarts are her favorites as well. Saint Anna has also been part of our daughter's childhood. When she was little, my husband used to bring her here before or after Chinese school in Chinatown on Sundays. Her go-to breakfast items were the Butter Bun, Ham and Macaroni in Soup, and Diced Ham and Corn in Cream Rice. As she got older, Curry Chicken with Potato became her favorite. She especially loved the potato cubes soaked in the delicious, mild curry sauce. She would always ask for more potatoes and less chicken, haha! Saint Anna is a family-run business, and Sara and Irene, the daughters-in-law, used to take care of the front of house. They were always so friendly and accommodating. After a 6-year hiatus, we finally returned one Friday recently when we happened to be in the area with a friend. Sara is now a co-owner, and it was wonderful to see her again. She immediately recognized us and was so warm and welcoming. She even asked me to relay her greetings to my sisters when she greeted us and again when we were leaving. Those little gestures made our return feel especially meaningful. We were still full from a big dim sum lunch, so my daughter picked up 2 Mini Pineapple Buns and 2 Paper-Wrapped Sponge Cakes, while I got a Red Bean Roll. Everything was fresh, soft, and delicious, and the total came to just under $8, really a great value. Our friend also purchased 2 Fried Sticky Rice Dumplings with Chicken. I had never really paid attention to their limited dim sum selection before, so that was a nice discovery. We love Saint Anna and will definitely be back whenever we're in the area.
