We made reservations for a Sunday at 8:30 am. They were not needed. The place was nearly empty. I always figure better safe than sorry. The food is standard fare. The place was cute. The plants were healthy. Service was perfectly attentive. I appreciated the options and ended up with a plate on the 'Special' menu - special meaning it listed current specials. I ordered Avocado Toast. It came with bacon and egg. I found it to be quite tasty and the perfect start to the day. Mark got an omelette, which seemed huge. He enjoyed it. Our friend got eggs, sausage, breakfast potatoes and pancakes. It looked like a plate at a diner. I started this review thinking I'd go with four stars, but decided the food and experience was more OK than it was Good (not that it was bad because it was tasty, just not extraordinary in any way). When in Chicago we stay on Belmont and Savanna is close enough to walk, which is a plus. read more

We were heading to Chicago Diner for lunch, but we got distracted after spotting Savanna Restaurant, which we'd never been too before. I had the Llapingacho Egg Benedict ($18.25). Having been to Ecuador last summer, I was excited to see this on the menu. It was a little underwhelming, both visually and taste-wise. My husband had the Dulce de Leche French Toast ($16.95), which was fine but also mild on flavor. Our mid experience was also impacted by the constant banging of the front door that resounded with each close. The steak looked like a good size but looked very old and dry and not in a good way, fat needed to be trimmed off because all of my bites were just half fat and half chewy. A decent place for breakfast, but maybe not my favorite. The hot tea is a cheap tea bag with a single cup of hot water. As a hot tea drinker this is always disappointing. My husband had the meat lovers combo and it was definitely a lot of meat! Came with pancakes which were very cakey so a tad dry. I had the classic combo and my eggs were overcooked. The multigrain toast was very dry. The chicken sausage decent but sweet. The staff was very nice and the place was clean. Good spot for a quick breakfast. read more

Sunday brunch led us to Savanna Restaurant at Lakeview. We made reservations so we can partake on the brunch. I ordered the Garden omelette. The menu gives us an option of a salad, fruit salad or a pancake. I opted for the salad. The salad tasted fresh and delicious. The omelette came with mushrooms, sliced red peppers, spinach and cheese. The omelette tasted hearty, juicy, and filling. The wheat toast tasted fine. Joseph ordered the Eggs Benedict. He said it tasted fine. I found it impressive as many locals come to Savanna and we did not wait long for our food. The only caveat comes from Savanna charges a 1.6% charge on credit card usage. read more

We come here every weekend for brunch and we always love it. Food is always delicious with fresh presentation. The service is really the best part about this restaurant, food comes out quickly and they are so on top of refilling our waters and coffees. read more

Nice location in the Lakeview east area and had plenty of tables for large parties. We were first to arrive when they opened and they sat us down right away. The server took our order and the food was brought out fairly quick. We loved their waffles on their specials menu! The berries and raspberry sauce were delicious. I loved my breakfast croissant that had spinach, egg, ham, and cheese, although it was pretty messy! The price we paid was reasonable overall. Have wanted to try this spot for a while as it's always packed. Large outdoor seating area as well as spacious indoor area. Menu had a lot of options and since it was mid-afternoon decided to try a salad. Had the quinoa salad and it was a large portion and delicious. Decided to dip in here Easter Sunday since I've heard good things. The Llapingachos Benedict was super tasty. I got house potatoes which in retrospect was a bit overkill since the Llapingachos Benedict is on a potato cake already. It's was super tasty with crispy chorizo bits. I placed an online order so this review can't speak to an in person experience. Also keep in mind that they do have a convenience/service fee for placing an online order and it seems to have dropped in the past 2 years which is nice! The pickup experience was seamless and food was ready to go in a timely manner. As for the food, as you can tell the portions are generous! I was pleasantly surprised, especially by the variety and quality of fresh fruit which is rare when it's a side. The little piece of watermelon was my favorite. As for the burrito...that practically felt like a food baby come to life. It was hearty, filled with scrambled eggs, guac, fried pinto beans, jack cheese, spinach, sour cream, and topped with pico de gallo. The burrito stayed tasting fresh and delicious with every bite, and despite being vegetarian, anyone could easily hit their protein goals with this. 4/4/26 lunch with 2 friends at Halsted location. One had a green salad with chicken breast, the other a chicken sandwich and both liked their choice alot. I ordered a soft corn taco with pork and it was awful. Pork was very small crumbles of dry flavorless pork. I didn't reject the meal b/c I was late getting there and did not want to inconvenience my friends. If I were alone, I definitely would have returned the meal for something else. Service was attentive and polite. If you have a disability, know that there are two steps at the entrance. I dont think a wheelchair could fit up these steps. I had to ask a stranger to lift my walker up the steps. read more

I'll keep this short. Fast service, very good food and reasonable prices. My mote pillo (hominy and eggs) had great flavor and I loved the sauce (with the addition of a little cholula). The hubs got their Benedict trio which he was very happy with. He didn't love the potatoes but the meal was so large he didn't care. Can NOT say enough good about this place! EVERYTHING was fabulous!!! It started with my breakfast cocktail (an Ecuadorian Canelazo), of which I'd never heard of before. It was DELISH! A little too sweet for me until I squeezed the lime into it... I picked the Llapingachos Benedict because it was also something I'd never had before. And BOY, was it DELICIOUS!!! The chorizo was some of the best I'd ever tasted and the eggs were poached SO PERFECTLY! It was like ART on a plate... The service was GREAT and the restaurant was bright and airy. Savanna Restaurant is a nice brunch spot in Lakeview. They have a massive menu so there is something for everybody if you want it. I enjoyed an El Mexicano skillet that was full of flavor and a large portion size. The one issue I had was that service could've been better. Once we got our food they left us alone and once we had finished eating it took forever for us to pay. I'm sure they would've liked having the open table, but they did not show it. read more

Savanna is an awesome addition to the neighborhood breakfast scene. They also have lunch but haven't tried that (yet!). The restaurant occupies the former Nookies space which was on Halsted at Buckingham for many years. Unfortunately you won't score a 2AM burger or omelette after the bars here, but fortunately that's the only negative and I'm not 23 years old anymore, either anyway! The interior of the space hasn't changed much from the prior business, other than some touch ups like a new floor and fresh paint job. The menu is pretty extensive, and we started with iced coffees along with a carrot/pineapple/orange juice. I'm usually more of a plain orange juice guy when I order anything beyond coffee - but everyone around was doing juices and the waitress talked them up so I had to join the juice movement. It was so fresh, refreshing and delicious, I am glad I did. Our entrees were equally delicious and the staff is super friendly including the host, to the bussers and food runners. Everything was solid from start to finish, we'll certainly be back again soon! read more

Came here because it's close to Wrigley and had good reviews. I had a Paloma, which wasn't my favorite. My crepes, potatoes and eggs were good. The potatoes were the best, seasoned well and tasted great. Either way the portions were filling and it was fairly priced. They have patio seating but not all have umbrellas so we sat inside. There was a whole back room so this place is spacious. Service was great, everyone was super nice. read more

Let's start with the good. We really enjoyed the bloody Mary's. They were nice and spicy and a great price. I ordered the chorizo omelette. The egg was a strange brown color, and the ratio of egg to filling was way off. It was more like, a burrito would be stuffed than an omelette. The breakfast potatoes are hard and undercooked and lacking flavor. My husband enjoyed his scrambled eggs and sausage. My other complaint may have to do with the day of the week, it was very noisy with large groups of people that were very loud. We may try it again, but it would be on a weekday. read more

This place hasn't been cleaned or updated besides vomit green paint since it was Nookies forever ago. Place was extremely understaffed for early lunch on a Saturday. 3 minutes at the door before someone finally came to seat us. Staff was friendly. Food took 40 minutes to come out -- a wrap and a buffalo sandwich. I know it was 40 minutes since the parking meter had to be paid again. The wrap seemed fine, but the buffalo sandwich was a joke. They must get 5 or 6 sandwiches from a single chicken breast since this thing was like a piece of chicken paper inside of cardboard breading. See picture for evidence. Fries were boring chunky under seasoned type. Would not return. If I want a chicken sandwich I expect there to be some meaningful chicken. read more
