Having been to Ecuador last summer, I was excited to see this on the menu. It was a little underwhelming, both visually and taste-wise. My husband had the Dulce de Leche French Toast ($16.95), which was fine but also mild on flavor. Sunday brunch led us to Savanna Restaurant at Lakeview. We made reservations so we can partake on the brunch. I ordered the Garden omelette. The menu gives us an option of a salad, fruit salad or a pancake. I opted for the salad. The salad tasted fresh and delicious. The omelette came with mushrooms, sliced red peppers, spinach and cheese. The omelette tasted hearty, juicy, and filling. The wheat toast tasted fine. Joseph ordered the Eggs Benedict. He said it tasted fine. I found it impressive as many locals come to Savanna and we did not wait long for our food. The only caveat comes from Savanna charges a 1.6% charge on credit card usage. read more

Nice location in the Lakeview east area and had plenty of tables for large parties. We were first to arrive when they opened and they sat us down right away. The server took our order and the food was brought out fairly quick. We loved their waffles on their specials menu! The berries and raspberry sauce were delicious. I loved my breakfast croissant that had spinach, egg, ham, and cheese, although it was pretty messy! The price we paid was reasonable overall. 4/4/26 lunch with 2 friends at Halsted location. One had a green salad with chicken breast, the other a chicken sandwich and both liked their choice alot. I ordered a soft corn taco with pork and it was awful. Pork was very small crumbles of dry flavorless pork. I didn't reject the meal b/c I was late getting there and did not want to inconvenience my friends. If I were alone, I definitely would have returned the meal for something else. Service was attentive and polite. If you have a disability, know that there are two steps at the entrance. I dont think a wheelchair could fit up these steps. I placed an online order so this review can't speak to an in person experience. Also keep in mind that they do have a convenience/service fee for placing an online order and it seems to have dropped in the past 2 years which is nice! The pickup experience was seamless and food was ready to go in a timely manner. As for the food, as you can tell the portions are generous! I was pleasantly surprised, especially by the variety and quality of fresh fruit which is rare when it's a side. The little piece of watermelon was my favorite. As for the burrito...that practically felt like a food baby come to life. It was hearty, filled with scrambled eggs, guac, fried pinto beans, jack cheese, spinach, sour cream, and topped with pico de gallo. The burrito stayed tasting fresh and delicious with every bite, and despite being vegetarian, anyone could easily hit their protein goals with this. I enjoyed an El Mexicano skillet that was full of flavor and a large portion size. The one issue I had was that service could've been better. Savanna is an awesome addition to the neighborhood breakfast scene. They also have lunch but haven't tried that (yet!). The restaurant occupies the former Nookies space which was on Halsted at Buckingham for many years. Unfortunately you won't score a 2AM burger or omelette after the bars here, but fortunately that's the only negative and I'm not 23 years old anymore, either anyway! The interior of the space hasn't changed much from the prior business, other than some touch ups like a new floor and fresh paint job. The menu is pretty extensive, and we started with iced coffees along with a carrot/pineapple/orange juice. I'm usually more of a plain orange juice guy when I order anything beyond coffee - but everyone around was doing juices and the waitress talked them up so I had to join the juice movement. It was so fresh, refreshing and delicious, I am glad I did. Our entrees were equally delicious and the staff is super friendly including the host, to the bussers and food runners. Came here because it's close to Wrigley and had good reviews. I had a Paloma, which wasn't my favorite. My crepes, potatoes and eggs were good. The potatoes were the best, seasoned well and tasted great. Either way the portions were filling and it was fairly priced. They have patio seating but not all have umbrellas so we sat inside. There was a whole back room so this place is spacious. Service was great, everyone was super nice. read more

Let's start with the good. We really enjoyed the bloody Mary's. They were nice and spicy and a great price. I ordered the chorizo omelette. The egg was a strange brown color, and the ratio of egg to filling was way off. It was more like, a burrito would be stuffed than an omelette. The breakfast potatoes are hard and undercooked and lacking flavor. My husband enjoyed his scrambled eggs and sausage. My other complaint may have to do with the day of the week, it was very noisy with large groups of people that were very loud. We may try it again, but it would be on a weekday. read more

Place was extremely understaffed for early lunch on a Saturday. 3 minutes at the door before someone finally came to seat us. Staff was friendly. Food took 40 minutes to come out -- a wrap and a buffalo sandwich. I know it was 40 minutes since the parking meter had to be paid again. The wrap seemed fine, but the buffalo sandwich was a joke. They must get 5 or 6 sandwiches from a single chicken breast since this thing was like a piece of chicken paper inside of cardboard breading. See picture for evidence. Fries were boring chunky under seasoned type. Would not return. If I want a chicken sandwich I expect there to be some meaningful chicken. read more

A question I still ask today. We were scared. How can a restaurant have so many options, and perfect them all? It couldn't be, it had to be false. We didn't know what to order. All of the options were screaming at us, enticing, and promising. We had to take a leap of faith, and just choose whatever felt like we craved. All this being said, our minds were blown. We had the chicken buffalo wrap and the black bean burger, and they were absolutely DELICIOUS. I got sweet potato fries, and my dear friend got the side salad. They were even decent enough to dress his salad, even restaurants in the city are reluctant to do that now a days. I felt as though we could get this meal at any place in the city and it would be 10x more expensive, and it wouldn't taste nearly as good. The service, perfect. They were quick, attentive, and kind. It was a slow day for them of course, being that it was Memorial Day. My friend and I must have just been there on just the perfect day. Drink delivered and food came shortly afterwards. Server never stopped to ask if anything was needed or if I wanted more to drink. When a friend of mine arrived unexpectedly and joined me, the server made a point of saying that the kitchen closes at three and that she had already been cut. She rushed my friend into placing his order still never offering refills on drinks. The food was just ok. Nothing special. When we went to pay was told they don't allow split checks that the owner did not want to deal with the hassle. Mediocre food and rude service gets 2 stars.
