After running a 5K on Thanksgiving morning, we stopped here for breakfast. This is a must see! Super small counter only restaurant where you watch your food being made. The portions are huge and the service was attentive and super friendly. We loved the food and the vibe.

It's a divvy diner. Win win! We came here for dinner last night. I had to try the sliger. It was enough food for 3 people! Jeez! So good. So many layers. Every bite had more flavor than the last. I have leftovers for lunch today. My husband had the steak omelette. He was very happy with his meal. Son had a plain burger. He barely touched it but that's how he usually is. He also had a vanilla milkshake. That he drank! They have a small patio in the back but we opted to watch our food getting made. Loving it. They take credit and also have an atm if you need to get cash instead.

Super cool 24 hour diner. There are limited spots at the bar. I got a coffee milkshake, which was pretty good (coffee flavor could've been stronger). The star was the burrito. I got a breakfast burrito, and I don't know if it was just the post-night out taste buds talking, but it was SO good. It's nothing crazy or fancy, but it certainly hits the spot. Such a neat place.

Found this place through YouTube and decided to come here for breakfast on a Monday morning. I would say, come early because it gets pack real quick. The food is delicious, menu isn't big however it's enough choices for you to choose. I got a veggie skillet add chicken and avocado and it comes with pancake or toast. I was so full couldn't finish my skillet and usually I finish it. The chicken is well season and juicy. My boyfriend order corn hash with pancakes. We were sooo satisfy and happy. Would recommend and come back here again. Street parking.

Resembles "Nighthawks" painting, by Edward Hopper

This modest diner is a sort of real-life version of the 1942 Edward Hopper painting, "Nighthawks." It's a living museum of urban America in the '30s and '40s. The narrow eatery with its 13-stool counter is unpretentious and immaculately clean, and the food is simple and relatively inexpensive. It's a treat to watch the action on the griddle and witness the sizzle and aroma of multiple items cooking at once. Theirs was an "open kitchen" long before that term was invented! Expectedly, the short-order menu featuring breakfast standards and familiar sandwiches is neither trendy nor diet-friendly. Steak n' eggs? Of course. Salad? Don't make me laugh. Nearly every item is loaded with carbs and/or fat. Moreover, the cook keeps squirting a yellowish liquid onto the grill to prevent food from sticking. Never mind, it's okay to indulge once in a while. The double cheeseburgers are yummylicious, and we absolutely must return to have breakfast here. The friendly banter among regulars makes this a good place to go if you're feeling lonely.

Diner Grill, just visit. Quick, easy, affordable, entertaining (people watcher) Inside seats about 15'ish bar stool seats. On this visit, went with: Breakfast burrito, includes all your breakfast favorites just wrapped in a burrito. (Sausage, bacon, eggs, hash browns, cream, cheese & avocado on the side). Come hungry, leave full! Update: on another visit: Pork Chop + Eggs... Made myself a runny sandwhich

We were visiting this place late night while in towns they are 24 hours. The food and service was good. There was slingshot indoor seating available. The menu is simple but packed with signature favs. They have outdoor street parking. I got the waffle and pancakes not soft and fluffy. I will def be visiting this place again. Recommended.

    Slinger

The Slinger is everything and more! I've finally got to try this diner, the home of the slinger. I've always thought the slinger would be a burger, but it's nothing like what I expected. Two over easy eggs side by side on top of burger patties on top a pile of hashbrowns all covered in chili. It is a huge meal. Definitely enough to share, but if you finish it yourself you can sign a certificate and put it on the wall. It was an interesting, tasty combo but with all familiar ingredients so it wasn't strange. I enjoyed it. Unfortunately, I didn't get to be on the wall that night. I'll come back and try again! This place is small, cute, and gives the classic diner vibe with 10 seats at the counter. However, they do have more seating outside on the patio. I'll definitely be coming back to try their other menu items with the ultimate goal of being on wall!

Just when I thought I couldn't love Diner Grill any more, they came through in the clutch for a late night sweet treat. The custom created Chocolate Banana Milkshake was glorious and hit the spot. The service is always prompt and friendly at this 24 hour gem. Sit yourself down at the counter and enjoy some comfort grub.

Best classic diner in Chicago! I needed a late night meal and this place was the perfect spot. It's a little diner with only barstool seating and super quick service. Their menu is HUGE so they have just about everything you could want from a diner. Everything we ordered was delicious, to the point that we had to stop ourselves from ordering more. They have a bunch of milkshakes to choose from (which is good because you can't go to a diner and not get a milkshake). Overall my best diner experience in Chicago. It's not one of those fake uppity places that design themselves to look like a diner - this is the real deal. What you see is what you get. They also had an interesting food challenge type of thing so I recommend trying that out because I didn't have the stomach to do so.

With a cozy locals vibe, there was a mix of young professionals on laptops and families starting the morning. The bright aesethics of Mexican heritage and decor celebrating local artists make the space inspiring and energizing. The coffee was great. I got the horchata latte, which tasted even better than I hoped. I also ordered a El Chavo Torta, a deceptively simple sandwich that was incredibly delicious. I don't know what they put in the bread or what magical place they bought the cheese from, but my mouth is watering just thinking about it. When I'm in Chicago again, La Malinche is on my list of must visit spots.

The staff were really welcoming, for an early morning. I got the hot chocolate. Honestly that's exactly what I needed that morning. It had that real Mexican chocolate taste. Thick, creamy, smooth and rich. The cinnamon came through warm but not too strong, plus a little extra on top that hit your nose before the first sip. Sweet and it almost had this slight earthy note too... hard to explain but good. It even had that little design on top, like the ones they do on cappuccinos. Didn't expect that but it was cool. I finished it slow. Didn't wanna rush it. Just sat there taking small sips and enjoying it while it was still hot.

Set in an old warehouse that is now an art gallery event space and restaurant nestled in an older warehouse district in Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago. Beautiful decor and laid out perfectly. The natural wood floors furniture ie tables chairs etc and iron work throughout sets the ambiance for old meets new. It works. The wide spacing between tables makes for a comfortable dining experience. So many folks come in to do their work and dine here. What a super addition to the neighborhood that less than a decade ago was essentially a street that was more a run down semi-truck alley. Great menu with neighborhood favorites leaning toward the old school Italian dishes. Sandwiches, soups, salads, and breakfasts just to name a few are all excellent. The pastries are insane and a must take home deal. I love the American Breakfast. Three eggs your way, thick diced America potatoes, thick cut bacon, and sourdough toast. Accompanied by what I believe to be home made jelly and for sure homemade gardiniera. Caruso's gardiniera actually. Diced into a relish unlike most standard gardiniera it's easier to eat with many dishes. Excellent flavor and just the right kick to it. FYI Dolce Arte also sells a to go line of homemade Caruso products from their gardiniera to past and past sauces and more. Yes, their coffee is really good too. Lavazza products I believe. The service is always on point. Casual but on point. Very friendly staff from diverse backgrounds. This is the place you bring people close to you, business lunches, meetings, formal ir informal, or like me, save it for myself as my own getaway spot. Why would you not order a flight to try a variety of drinks all at once? We had the hibiscus lemonade and matcha flight, the mango con crema and banana con crema were the standouts. The staff--at least the person who helped me--didn't feel super welcoming. Not that they were rude, just not particularly warm either. I get it though, because even I get a little irritable when it's hot, so maybe that played a part. What I love the most is that it's Latina-owned, and that's something I truly admire. I always try to support Latino entrepreneurs when they're doing things right, and this place is definitely doing something creative. We ordered two flights--one with coffee and one with matcha. Each flight comes with four small samples, and they were all seasonal fall flavors, which I thought was such a fun and unique idea. It's cool because you get to try different drinks in little cups, almost like a tasting experience. The coffee flight (we got it iced) was amazing--the flavors were bold and had that strong coffee taste I personally love. The matcha flight was also fun, but I would have preferred a stronger matcha flavor in some of them. They also have plenty of milk options--we ordered ours with oat milk and it was delicious. On top of that, they have a pretty wide food menu with bagels, sandwiches, wraps, and more. We tried the tuna sandwich and it was really good, definitely worth recommending. The café has little chairs outside, the vibe inside is cozy, and I loved that they were playing Spanish music. That's something you don't usually find in most coffee shops here, and it gave the place extra personality. The only thing I'm still unsure about is the price. For two flights (coffee + matcha) and the sandwich, the total was around $55. Maybe that's a bit expensive--or maybe it's just the nature of ordering flights, since I had never tried that before. Either way, it was worth it for the experience and the flavors. In short, it's a cute, cozy, and creative spot that's definitely worth checking out--especially if you're into seasonal flavors, want to try something unique, and love supporting Latina-owned businesses in Chicago.
