Had a really good experience at Diner Grill. It's one of those classic late-night diner spots that just hits when you want something greasy in the best way. I came in the middle of the night and that whole breakfast-for-dinner vibe hit the spot. Parking is street only, but it was easy. Seating felt a bit limited(12 or so seating across the grill) since it's colder out, but I'd definitely come back to check out their patio when the weather's nicer. The staff was super helpful with recommendations. I ended up getting the southern omelette, corned beef skillet, hot cocoa, and a short stack -- and yeah, those pancakes are a must. Everything came out hot and satisfying, perfect late-night comfort food. Perfect spot for late-night eats or when you're craving something simple and filling. I'd go back for sure.

It's a divvy diner. Win win! We came here for dinner last night. I had to try the sliger. It was enough food for 3 people! Jeez! So good. So many layers. Every bite had more flavor than the last. I have leftovers for lunch today. My husband had the steak omelette. He was very happy with his meal. Son had a plain burger. He barely touched it but that's how he usually is. He also had a vanilla milkshake. That he drank! They have a small patio in the back but we opted to watch our food getting made. Loving it. They take credit and also have an atm if you need to get cash instead.

Just to add to my previous review. A diamond in the rough. Great food, old school dining area , and owners that appreciate their customers. A must stop if you in the area

After running a 5K on Thanksgiving morning, we stopped here for breakfast. This is a must see! Super small counter only restaurant where you watch your food being made. The portions are huge and the service was attentive and super friendly. We loved the food and the vibe.

Super cool 24 hour diner. There are limited spots at the bar. I got a coffee milkshake, which was pretty good (coffee flavor could've been stronger). The star was the burrito. I got a breakfast burrito, and I don't know if it was just the post-night out taste buds talking, but it was SO good. It's nothing crazy or fancy, but it certainly hits the spot. Such a neat place.

Husband & I fly in from Texas monthly and just discovered this spot due to where we stay at. 10/10 everytime. Very friendly staff, super clean place. Very organized. Everytime I come the food is so good. The pricing is amazing. This place is a must everytime we fly in.

Resembles "Nighthawks" painting, by Edward Hopper
    Eric B.

This modest diner is a sort of real-life version of the 1942 Edward Hopper painting, "Nighthawks." It's a living museum of urban America in the '30s and '40s. The narrow eatery with its 13-stool counter is unpretentious and immaculately clean, and the food is simple and relatively inexpensive. It's a treat to watch the action on the griddle and witness the sizzle and aroma of multiple items cooking at once. Theirs was an "open kitchen" long before that term was invented! Expectedly, the short-order menu featuring breakfast standards and familiar sandwiches is neither trendy nor diet-friendly. Steak n' eggs? Of course. Salad? Don't make me laugh. Nearly every item is loaded with carbs and/or fat. Moreover, the cook keeps squirting a yellowish liquid onto the grill to prevent food from sticking. Never mind, it's okay to indulge once in a while. The double cheeseburgers are yummylicious, and we absolutely must return to have breakfast here. The friendly banter among regulars makes this a good place to go if you're feeling lonely.

    Chocolate Banana Milkshake

Just when I thought I couldn't love Diner Grill any more, they came through in the clutch for a late night sweet treat. The custom created Chocolate Banana Milkshake was glorious and hit the spot. The service is always prompt and friendly at this 24 hour gem. Sit yourself down at the counter and enjoy some comfort grub.

Veggie skillet add chicken and avocado

Found this place through YouTube and decided to come here for breakfast on a Monday morning. I would say, come early because it gets pack real quick. The food is delicious, menu isn't big however it's enough choices for you to choose. I got a veggie skillet add chicken and avocado and it comes with pancake or toast. I was so full couldn't finish my skillet and usually I finish it. The chicken is well season and juicy. My boyfriend order corn hash with pancakes. We were sooo satisfy and happy. Would recommend and come back here again. Street parking.

    Slinger
    Helen H.

The Slinger is everything and more! I've finally got to try this diner, the home of the slinger. I've always thought the slinger would be a burger, but it's nothing like what I expected. Two over easy eggs side by side on top of burger patties on top a pile of hashbrowns all covered in chili. It is a huge meal. Definitely enough to share, but if you finish it yourself you can sign a certificate and put it on the wall. It was an interesting, tasty combo but with all familiar ingredients so it wasn't strange. I enjoyed it. Unfortunately, I didn't get to be on the wall that night. I'll come back and try again! This place is small, cute, and gives the classic diner vibe with 10 seats at the counter. However, they do have more seating outside on the patio. I'll definitely be coming back to try their other menu items with the ultimate goal of being on wall!

Diner Grill, just visit. Quick, easy, affordable, entertaining (people watcher) Inside seats about 15'ish bar stool seats. On this visit, went with: Breakfast burrito, includes all your breakfast favorites just wrapped in a burrito. (Sausage, bacon, eggs, hash browns, cream, cheese & avocado on the side). Come hungry, leave full! Update: on another visit: Pork Chop + Eggs... Made myself a runny sandwhich

We were visiting this place late night while in towns they are 24 hours. The food and service was good. There was slingshot indoor seating available. The menu is simple but packed with signature favs. They have outdoor street parking. I got the waffle and pancakes not soft and fluffy. I will def be visiting this place again. Recommended.

We arrived on a weekend morning, and the line was out the door. It went by relatively fast. The turnaround is good, considering the restaurant is pretty big, with seats for all party sizes inside plus some tables outside. Service was just fine. As a diner, it was pretty average, but our general needs were met. Our food came out in a decent amount of time as well. My friend and I shared the Denver Omelet and One Pancake. We also got other items to share, like the Pecan Roll. The omelet truly is jumbo! It comes in a giant skillet with potatoes. It was full of all the fixings and needed a bit of seasoning, but overall it was good. The pecan roll was sweet and so gooey! The pancake tasted average. The thing here is the portion sizes. Considering we shared and still had leftovers, that's a sign in itself. Everyone else enjoyed their dishes and left stuffed. If you're visiting Chicago and want a true breakfast diner experience, Lou Mitchell's is a must-try. Find them off W Jackson Blvd., near public transportation.

I was full well before my plate was empty, but I simply could not imagine reheating any part of it later. The egg was cooked to sunny-side perfection, and every bite was ridiculous. The single is a double patty and the double is a triple. The burgers were deliciously cooked and very hearty! Root beer compliments the burgers well! The crispy fries with the garlic aioli and mornay sauce were very yummy! The crispy potato hash was probably the lowlight of this meal... love the crispy-ness of the hash, didn't love the gravy. My travel partners and I chose Eleven city diner for our breakfast/brunch/lunch before my leaving for the airport. I wanted some deli food which with all of my meals I did not have. No pastrami, no corn beef no nothing up until this meal. I ordered an open face, pastrami sandwich, and boy. What a meal it was. Homemade pastrami plated on rye bread and a bed of cheese and their special sauce. My travel partners had meals of their own, but what was cute and retro of this establishment was their soda jerk machines, their old-fashioned counters with swivel chairs, there, old-fashioned, neon lights and their booths in dark colored vinyl. How retro can that be? Service was spot on as soon as you were seated, outcomes the water, the menu, and a smiley face asking for your order. A special touch for me was they held my luggage in the back area so it's not to clutter the dining area while we had our meal.
