It's huge, it's tasty, it's PIPING HOT! I actually think its a solid burger! I took off a star because of the buns they use, they end up and getting soggy towards the end of eating it. Stopped by on Thursday night for a double burger, fries, and a Diet Coke with my husband and this truly might be one of the best burgers I've had in Chicago. It was quick, comforting, and absolutely delicious. I will say it's not a traditional bar/restaurant but that is what makes it cool. This spot has an edgy vibe, especially at night with the music and red lighting. The food comes wrapped in foil, not on plates, which is a nice sustainable touch, and there's seating both inside and outside. Alright, I'm about to rave about the smashburger at Patty Please. Ready? Seriously, food and service areis spot on every single time. The burgers get that perfect crispy lacey edge on the patty while keeping the inside juicy. I always go for raw onions to cut the richness, but the grilled are great too. The quality of the beef excellent. I suspect it's not just ground chuck, but I'm sure it's a trade secret never to be confirmed or denied. The American cheese is always perfectly melted, which is a big plus for me. Beyond the amazing burgers, the fries are worth a special mention. They're thin and perfectly salted, and they actually stay crispy! I'm not a huge fan of soggy fries, so this is a big win. Their cheese curds with jalapeno ranch. Top. Tier. The curds are perfectly fried, nice and golden brown on the outside with that satisfyingly squeaky cheese inside. And that jalapeno ranch dipping sauce? It's got just the right amount of kick and creaminess. Seriously addictive. The people who work here are always friendly and efficient, even when it gets busy. You can tell they take pride in what they do, and the service is always quick without feeling rushed. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable. So, i love me some small bar, and I finally got in to try patty please. Cheese curds and the double smash burger were on the dockett for us. Let's start with the curds. Oh, lawd. So amazing. A crispy, light batter and the cheese pulls are insane. The sauce is slightly tangy and the perfect accompaniment. Crispy edges, buttery bun, the perfect mustard/ketchup ratio, and crispy pickles. Hot take - I was not super impressed by the burger. NOW, did it have lacey perfection edges, Yes! It was made fresh in front of us, the bar itself had great vibes, service was great... it just wasn't mind blowing like people say *shrug* we also tried the fries and cheese curds, both solid. Next up on my quest to try all the "must-try" burger in Chicago..Patty Please. You probably heard of this smash burger pop up inside Small Bar. It's in a dive bar so you know that's the kinda atmosphere you're going to get. A lot of folks coming to try a burger and a lot of other regulars wanting to know why these strangers have come to invade their watering hole. In all seriousness everyone was mad cool. They do have a patio area on the back as well. The night I went in, it was pretty busy. Took about 25-30 minutes to get my order. My verdict....the burger was a damn good burger! I'd come back for it if in the right mood. Their fries also smelled and tasted as if they were dusted with pringles sour cream and onion flavoring. Can anyone confirm this for me? For some reason I found myself on The Infatuation's website, and clicked on The Hit List. While the Santa Masa Tamaleria is interesting for a different day, Patty Please immediately caught my eye. Something about it drew me in as if with a high powered magnet, and I went same day. Let me tell you, if you think you will even remotely enjoy a smashburger, don't even read the review. Run, don't walk! Go now! Also, do not be surprised if you see me here multiple times a week, despite the fact that it is a little out of my way! The Pleaser is absolute perfection. It is simple, but done so mind-blowingly well that I was tempted to order a second one even though I wasn't even technically hungry when I ordered it. Everything that could possibly go well goes well. We start with none other than the patty. Louis Camille Maillard would cry at how amazingly and beautifully browned and crisp the edges of the beef were. It was an absolute delight, and this is coming from someone who typically orders burgers a medium or medium rare! However, there is more to it than that! The sauce was perceptible and offered a delightful tang. It was in the ideal amount to make itself known, but by no means overpowering or overdone. For the veggies, the onion added a small amount of sweetness, while the pickles added freshness, salt, and a little acid. Finally, there was the bun: I am not sure how exactly (and the foil wrapper may contribute), but it was warm, soft, fluffy and fresh tasting! Before we part ways, I have a confession: As the review was coming together in my mind, part of me wanted to gatekeep this place. The bar where Patty Please is located is small enough that it is actually named "Small Bar," and is popular and busty as it is. Add in a burger pop-up that is about to go viral on social media, and there will be a line around the block 15 minutes before they open! I did not want to contribute to the force that would put this deliciousness behind a 2+ hour wait known to fans of Au Cheval. Yet, I put my ego in check. There are influencers and social media personalities with a much greater following and reach than this putz with a Yelp page. Other than a couple devoted fans (I see you and I thank you), I'm not that interesting or important. Thus, I've decided to share my enthusiasm for this place with you here, despite any potential misgivings. Finally, the burger came out in a reasonable time frame for their small kitchen, the service was friendly and kind, and last but not least the prices for both the burger and some bar items (especially during happy hour) are more than reasonable! Thus, we have a smash hit, and I wish Patty Please nothing but the very best! I can't wait to return soon to try the double, and maybe bring a friend so can try the cheese curds as well. read more

Not sure what happened!! Came here last night with my boyfriend and we both agreed the burger was extremely average. Not a lot of flavor and the meat was also verrrrry pink in the middle (we have no problem with it but I know some would not be ok with that). Fries were good and service was great too. Came for the first time after a bulls game with my friends. Bartender served us right away and answered all questions. There was open seating on a heated patio which was amazing since it was mid November! Music was fantastic- playing 2000s throwbacks all night! We ordered a lot of food and it came out pretty quickly.
