I got the veggie version of the Little DMK and the Lazy Refresher mocktail. *I ordered fries for us to split, which is when the waitress warned me about the fries. I really appreciated the call out, but was surprised it wasn't on the menu itself. Husband got the patty melt and noted that the beef tasted very peppered. Both burgers were fine. Stopped by on a whim and so glad that we did. Tried the burger of the month, The Gobbler, and that alone made the trip worth it. The fries were crisp and peanut butter shake was delicious. Trying grass fed beef burger for the first time and it was so good! Went on a Friday evening and it was full house. I went on a rainy night so wasn't expecting it to be so busy, but loved the ambiance for a Friday evening. Despite how packed it was, service was great and food didn't take long. It was so delicious. -big DMK: my dining mate who typically order medium rare (not sure if he did this time) said it was a bit dry. Would opt for a single patty next time -fries: Parmesan cheese & truffle cream. Need I say more? It was addicting with the burger. The cream dip made it fun to eat fries and I couldn't stop going for it. -wings & drums: blueberry bbq & buffalo. Honestly, the color of blueberry bbq was intimidating but once I got past the colors, it was sweet bbq and was tasty. I preferred blueberry bbq over buffalo, but I liked the onion strings that came with it. -Brussels sprouts: I always order Brussels sprouts whenever I can and this was crispy, yet sweet. Some places make it soggy and I hate it but this was warm in the center, crispy on the outside. It was a perfect mix w bacon, cheese, and glaze. One of my favorite. This spot is one of my new favorites in the Lake View East neighborhood and has a great menu filled with lots of American favorites - including a bunch of delicious and innovative burgers! I have been meaning to check this place out for years!! As Chicago knows we have many options for great burgers, but this was fantastic. I met an old coworker here and we had 2 burgers and fries. She ordered the #6 Guacamole Burger and I made my own (cheese, onion straws, bacon). She got angry fries and I got sweet potato. Everything was really good- the potato bun was nice and soft, the burger juicy flavorful, toppings fresh, fries crisp. I really love that they use grass fed beef. We ended up splitting their seasonal milkshake, which was Marshmallow. It tasted like a campfire. The restaurant wasn't crowded when we went, but is very dark inside no matter what time of day it is. What I didn't like and reason I won't be back is because they use Sunday checkout (CO), which automatically charges you 3% and a "Sunday platform fee." When you leave a tip you are leaving a tip on the additional 3% + the platform fee. Our total was $39.00 3% surcharge $1.16 (on the $39) Taxes $4.21 (on the $39 food + $1.16 surcharge) Sunday CO $1.49 (on food + surcharge + taxes) Now comes the tipping: 1. They encourage you to tip 26%. 2. They don't let you tip less than 21% 3. They charge NOT on the cost of food, but the food + surcharge + taxes + Sunday CO fee) 4. They do not allow you to tip less than 21%. My total came out to $54.93 It should have been $50.99 (food x 20% tip + taxes on food). May not seem like much, but it's an additional 7.7% more. I won't be back. And if I do, I'll be paying in cash to avoid fees on top of fees. read more

This is great for a group dining option since they have generous sized shareable dishes that are also amazing! Service was fast. I come to DMK for trivia a few times a month. Usually I just drink some beer or snag a milkshake, but every once in a while I decide to get a full meal and it delivers. The sunrise burger was one of the best burgers I've had in my life, but I just wish I had had more of it. Overall, DMK exists in that awkward price range where it's not cheap but I'm not quite comfortable paying the prices for the meal and a side because it's not quite a luxury spot either. I remember I first visited DMK when they opened their original location in 2009. They were THE hotness in Lakeview for elevated burgers with creative toppings. It's so exciting that they've now been operating for 15 years as one of the most beloved burger joints in Chicago, still serving tasty burgers using 100% grass-fed beef patties on their signature artisanal buns. We recently had the opportunity to visit and loaded up on several menu items. Our favorites were the Big DMK, the Parmesan Truffle Fries, the Chipotle BBQ Chicken Wings and the Churro Shake. The Big DMK is their version of a Big Mac and it is massive. It comes with double grass-fed beef patties (2/3lb), American cheese, pickles, lettuce, tomato and DMK sauce. This thing is juicy! We also really loved the DMK sauce. The Parmesan Truffle Fries were yummy and just one of SIX different fry styles that are available at DMK. They've got some other fun ones like Angry Fries and Blue Cheese & Bacon Fries. You have to appreciate a place with an impressive fry game. The Chicken Wings were plump and tender, and the Chipotle BBQ sauce was finger-licking good. Finally, I love churros, and really anything cinnamon in general, so you know when I saw their Chef's Feature was a Churro Shake, I had to order it. Skip the straw, this thing requires a spoon! It's filled with big dreamy chunks of churro and will melt your heart with every bite. If you're looking for that solid burger, fry and milkshake combo, DMK is a great option. The Guacamole burger was delicious and the fries were pretty good, too, especially the cheddar fries. Good place for burgers even though it gets expensive. It's not any kind of surprise because of the hip location. DMK has mostly a menu of burgers. Other things include some pretty good drinks and side items. The biggest problem is the price, and there's limited vegan friendly items and toppings. After going past here many times before, we finally got a chance. It looks more like a bar than a restaurant. The bar area was where most people were at, and the rest of the place was full of empty tables. It was early, but time for happy hour. They had a few drink specials. It was $6 for an Old Fashioned. We thought these were kind of small, but these were pretty strong. As for the food, we had limited choices. We got the only vegetarian burger, the House Veggie And Grain. It's $12 for a pretty big burger. This came with cheddar, which I left off, eggplant, and tomatoes. Good stuff but expensive. They could use more toppings that aren't bacon, cheese, and mayonnaise. This place is amazing! The staff is friendly, the restaurant is very chill and the food is good! Melissa was our server, she made my daughter feel so good. She smiled the whole time from the attention and gentleness she showed throughout or dining experience. I would like to give a special highlight to their bison burger with blueberry bbq sauce. This might have been one of the best burgers we've had in a while. We topped it off with their incredible red velvet milkshake, we simply couldn't ask for a better dining experience. DMK has pretty great flavor/topping options for their burgers, and you can't beat the location!! As you can see in the photos, I thought their presentation left a lot to be desired. The beef patties look really tiny compared to the bun which didn't have much flavor, which left the texture and flavor ratio off, as well. I thought the toppings of the guacamole/chorizo burger and bison burger were amazing, but the burgers (meat) themselves were just meh. It's hard to have a great burger without the base holding it together, and I think there are quite a few better options in the area in that regard! Others have a better basic burger, but DMK wins on flavor if that's what you are looking for! Personally don't think I'd return, but I understand why they have their niche. We were there on a Tuesdays around 7-8pm and it was just one other table being used. We used to go to DMK often about 10 years ago and man we were disappointed. I ordered a dirty martini and while it was well made, was missing a key ingredient - Olives! Our server also brought the wrong beer (canned instead of draft). I loved the parm fries, the large was huge. The chili is on the sweet side. Burgers are good and served with a handful of lettuce on the side. The trend right now it seems is to make smaller burgers that are smashed so thin that you need two patties to just make it seem like there is one burger. However, I'm glad that DMK Burger is sticking to its guns and still making some thick juicy burgers. I went there recently after many years and I loved it just as much as the last time I had been. First, the interior is super cool. It has exposed brick and plenty of TVs to watch sports on. Second, the food is as good ever and it rivals any trendy burger spot. When I was there I ordered two burgers, the classic Big DMK (a bigger clone of the Big Mac) and the French Dip Burger (their current burger of the month), an apple pie milkshake (their current milkshake is the month), chicken wings, cheesy fries and the sea salt and pepper fries. If you like pumpkin spice, you'll love the apple pie milkshake. Or course, the burgers and fries where amazing. The French dip burger came with au jus to drop it in, and the Big DMK is always a go to. However, the pleasant surprise for me was how good the chicken wings were. I have been going to DMK for YEARS! Probably around 10 realistically... Whenever my family comes to town, DMK is a MUST. I tried to get in contact them multiple ways over a 2 week period so that I could make a reservation - and no response in any format. Instagram, Email, phone call, you name it. I have never experienced anything like this from them so that was weird.... I tried to keep reaching out but have not gotten any response and it has been two weeks.
