Extremely friendly place with very good food and an excellent vibe! This is a true neighborhood gem, crowded with a diverse group of folks sitting around the counter on colorful, comfortable, cushioned stools. The owner spontaneously spent time with us, explaining everything on the menu-- so friendly and helpful. My simple scrambled eggs with beans and rice was delicious with their very fresh housemade spicy and chunky hot sauce. My son's French toast was perfect. My husband's chilaquiles was incredible (and huge), and note, they have three different styles of chilaquiles, with vegetarian options. They have three varieties of agua fresca-- we didn't try them, but they looked amazing. American and Mexican classic dishes, including Chicago Dogs, chili relleno, etc. We'll be back! read more

You can't get good Mexican food in Chic....wait a minute !! Yes you can ! We stopped by this adorable little diner today and was greeted by the sweetest lady who introduced herself as the owner ! She kindly greeted this Houstonian and brought us some delicious coffee! A funny and very courteous gentleman took or order and continued to provide great chatter ! Then he brought out my "small" bowl of menudo -which wasn't that small and loaded with hominy and tripe! The taste before I made it my own was delightful! I tend to over do it with the limes and onions but even without it was nom nom ! The asada taco meat was seasoned so deliciously! The flour tortillas seemed to melt in my mouth! My friend ordered the chilaquiles and the order was HUGE! So she gave me like a quarter of it and the homemade chips and meat were amazing !! Even the sweet cook came and chatted and was so kind and we thanked her for a delicious meal !! I go home tomorrow but not before we stop here for another meal! read more

I used to love this place so much, me and my boyfriend came a couple times a month for the past 5 years but in the last year or so the service has gotten worse and worse. We looked past the increasingly uncomfortable interactions and incorrect orders because we like supporting our neighborhood businesses and the food is good. But last time we were in the older man who was serving us was annoyed at us before we even ordered, rolled his eyes when we asked for water, after we ordered I said "thank you" one too many times apparently and he WENT OFF on me, berating me about how he "had heard enough thank yous for a lifetime out of you (me)", so we just got up and left. I don't need my server to be my best friend but I'm not gonna pay to be yelled at for being polite. Sad it came to this but we're done going here. read more

My friend got the same dish but with over and easy eggs with steak and she said it was also good. Whatever you get with your chilaquiles, it will be delicious. It comes with housemade salsa in a bottle and it's so good. They make 30 pounds of it every week. I had the cucumber and lime drink and it was slightly sweet and very refreshing. It paired well with the chilaquiles. The space and seating area is intimate and smaller, but it def has a homey feel and you get to watch what goes behind the scenes behind the counter as they cook and prepare ingredients. Came here because Dons was packed and was happy i did! This diner has American and Mexican breakfast food. I ordered chilaquiles with meat and my bf got the 2x4. The chilaquiles are made like migas here, where they cook the tostadas chips with the eggs. I asked to get the eggs over easy and u really enjoyed them. They have homemade salsa that's amazing. I will be back to try other menu items. I wish they had posole because they have menudo. read more

The older Latina woman and older heavy-set white guy are like a bad comedy team. There appears to be no ordering system as the woman writes nothing down so she has to keep repeating herself. The man doesn't seem to know even the simple Spanish words on their menu. There were two people cooking and unfortunately we got the guy who likes to brown the scrambled eggs. The chilaquiles were watery and bland and had a LOT of shredded iceberg lettuce. The pancakes were OK, but it they look completely different depending upon who makes them. I can't believe this place has survived for so long. We hoped to find a good place for breakfast, but this isn't it. Disappointed we didn't just go to Don's on Western. I love a good diner, but hadn't stopped here as it is cash only. Finally I had time and cash and decided to make the visit. It definitely has the diner vibe, with the open kitchen, the cushion barstools, and the lovely breakfast to lunch selections. The lady, who I believe is the owner, is the sweetest and just the nicest person in the world. I told her I had just moved to the neighborhood and gave me complimentary soup, which was lovely on this rainy day. I got a milanesa torta, and I definitely did the wrong choice. It is not the best torta in my life, but that's on me for not getting the breakfast options. I saw the omelets being made looking quite appetizing and the pancakes being made on the grill (fluffiest things I have ever seen). You're not alone: roughly 8.5% of the world's population suffers from depression (source: wikipedia). Depression comes in many shapes and sizes, but no matter how it manifests itself it's no way to live. I'm no medical professional; definitely not a psychiatrist in any capacity; hell I barely remember how Na-K action potentials work, but trust me when I tell you, Park View Diner is the answer to your depression. Our AirBnB happened to be right down the street from Park View, so we figured we'd stop by for a final Pilsen breakfast before heading back to Tree City. I didn't expect much. A cup of coffee and some half-decent pancakes would've more than satisfied my needs. Oh the benefits of perennial low expectations. Within 30 seconds I had my cup of coffee. 15 seconds later I had a newspaper in hand. Another minute and we had split pea soup ON THE HOUSE in front of us. No more than 10 minutes later we had top-notch breakfast plates served fresh off the stovetop. French toast was fantastic; huevos con chorizo even better. Our server was a welcoming soul who thrust free food and drink at us at every opportunity, although doing so while still allowing us to privately enjoy our breakfast. I walked in here clouded in the depression of a concluding vacation, but left cheerfully reflecting on the good-natured humanity of Park View diner. Service was not good. I was NOT given the correct order. We ordered two plates of chilaquiles, and BOTH plates were made WRONG!!! The plates were taken back, and they just moved the eggs from one plate to another. Given on one of them the eggs were sunny side up!!! And the plate where the chorizo was requested lacked it.
