When we walked in we were greeted warmly right away and were able to choose where we wanted to sit. There are six tables in the restaurant and every single one of them was filled which is always a great sign. As soon as we sat down we were given a small bowl of sopa de caracol as a welcome appetizer. It was such a thoughtful gesture and it was absolutely delicious. We ordered the menudo and two tacos. The menudo had some of the best pieces of meat and I was happy it included hominy because I really enjoy it. The flavor was incredible and they offered two delicious salsas to enjoy with it. The café de olla was so good you do not even need to add creamer. The sweetness is perfect not too much just right. On top of everything the owner herself Irma served us and she was incredibly kind which made the experience even more special. We had mole chilaquiles (the mole was top tier-- best mole I've had so far) and we can't remember if we had barbacoa platillo or birria but whatever it was it's the best we had along with their salsa. i wasn't gonna make a review about the bad service i had at this place but then when i went to eat the other half of my torta the next day, i almost broke a tooth on this hard, pointy, thick piece of wood, not sure what it was. we sat inside, both of our tortas arrived missing multiple toppings it said it would come with on the menu. we requested a few things like limes, bottled water, etc. multiple times and it never came. i asked the man for a to-go cup for my soup, he never returned with it and just threw my soup in the trash so i had to ask for a new one. the only good side was the meat was tender and fresh, the complimentary soup was good but because service was poor, i wouldn't return. i already didn't mind waiting hours just to be seated, get my order taken, pay the check and ask for my missing food/ toppings multiple times because i knew staff was busy. i only decided to finally leave a review after almost breaking a tooth, it's really dangerous. read more

I had an unforgettable time at La cocina de Irma. The staff has the BEST customer service. As soon as you step into Irma's place you really feel the warmth of energy. My chicken torta & chicken tacos were perfect. Great depth of flavor and great portion too! We also received a complimentary serving of Papas bravas which were spicy but oh so delicious. When you walk in, the restaurant is warm and welcoming, you're literally stepping into Irma's kitchen! The food was flavorful and cooked to perfection. My tacos were so tender and all of the salsas accompanied them perfectly. My boyfriend ordered the chicken torta which was just as good and cooked perfectly. We also ordered Jamaica and horchata to drink and they both hit the spot. We visited Cocina de Irma after completing a 5k and 10k run and we came starving. Everything we ordered filled our hunger and every bite was seriously so good. The prices are extremely reasonable for the quality of food you receive and like I mentioned, everything tasted spectacular. Extra kudos for the papas on the house. Also thanks for the bowl of limes! A lot of restaraunts will only give you one or two but we received a bowl which was extremely appreciated. It's the little things, you know? Upon entering a nice lady stated to me + guest in Spanish to have a seat wherever we choose; found out later she was Irma the owner. We were served by Miguel who was truly a 1 man show...a co-owner, cook, server, comedian, salesman. He was very passionate about his menu, sauces. Miguel is worth the visit alone. You are given a pasta soup which was good. Me + guest ordered the birria tacos....yummy! They were fresh, hot, delicious. Normally I don't eat refried beans but theirs was soft, flavorful and not salty. Rice was just right. I also tried the barracoa taco which fire!!! The horchata was refreshing. Found this spot near our new home and am pleasantly surprised! Cute neighborhood. Great flavors on the al pastor, barbacoa, and steak. Meat wasn't dry. Salsa was full of flavor and the to go waitress was great in suggestions without asking and anticipating our needs by asking spice preference for the salsas. Only sad part about the tacos for me was they could've used some time on a skillet because they were kind of falling apart and missing some char, but it may have been the 15 min drive home.
