The ambience of this place reminds me of a TV show. It's nicely designed. You will feel cozy while eating your meal. I ordered the pancakes and it came with turkey sausage. The turkey sausage was really good. Pancakes are huge. I should've only ordered two. I was not able to finish the entire thing. The pancakes were decent. They didn't have that much flavor to them. The syrup was good. I wish I had powdered sugar or whip, whipped cream on it. The butter didn't really do the pancakes any good. The service was a nice very old school type of establishment. The whole staff appears to be family with one another. The restaurant was clean. Their items are a bit pricey. Next time I go, I will order something that is more lunch type. Because it smelled good. I paid $20 for this. It was not worth my money. I wish it came with hashbrowns or egg something where the meal is well-rounded. I did have grapefruit juice as well and it was refreshing. Parking for this establishment is in the back. Just call before you go. There is street parking in the front. read more

I got this New Orleans shrimp and grits with waffles on the side. The food is decently priced and it's nice to pay under $20 for a meal. I will say that the shrimp and grits lacked flavor. When is the New Orleans style? I was expecting lots of spices and more veggies in it and none of that came with it.. it was a packed house early in the morning on a Saturday, but we were still able to be seated pretty swiftly since it was just two of us and once they got another table clean that actually moved us to a larger table because she knew that we would have a lot of food and for that I'm thankful our waitress was really nice too. I would definitely want to come back and try something else on the menu. read more

My son said that we had to experience Eppel's before leaving Chicago. I'm so glad we did -- what a lovely place! The menu is extensive. We each ordered our breakfast favorites -- corned beef hash, crepes, eggs benedict, hashbrowns, bacon, eggs and pancakes. Everything was freshly prepared, well-seasoned and so satisfying. Portions were very generous. Coffee and drinks were refilled continuously. The service was simply wonderful from beginning to end. Our waitress was so amazing in making sure we had more than what we needed. She then wrote us the sweetest note of thanks and holiday wishes on our check. Great old school, diner atmosphere with the most hospitable people. We'll make our way back the next time we're in Chicago! read more

This is a diner, it isn't a 5 Star restaurant per se. However, if you're looking for pancakes, hash browns, burger or club sandwich you cannot go wrong here. The service was fun, the food delicious, and the atmosphere a throwback to the 60s & 70s. read more

Went here today for breakfast with my parents. Never really heard of this place before, always went to Manny's for lunch. I'm glad I stopped in! It's pleasantly bigger thank you think. Lots of two person booths when you're walking in the back, but enough 4 person booths to fit a few families. If you have more than 4 it could be a minor issue or wait. Service, in a word- spectacular! Lynn was the consummate professional. We had a menus, place setting for our third, and waters immediately. After ordering I was really excited to get my food. I can only speak for my omelette (gyro and feta cheese) but it was perfectly cooked. Of particular note was that the food was not overly salty at all. My parents are elderly and very sensitive to added salt so this was mind blowing when they were pleased. Healthy serving of grits with my order, and the two buttermilk pancakes were light and just perfect even without added butter and syrup. Rare to find that these days. Thy have a healthy sized menu. I parked in a metered area nearby, $3.80 using the ParkChicago app for 90 minutes but with the prices and value of the breakfast this is still well worth the visit! Lynn is amazing. There when you need her, for more coffee or water. Saw her interacting with some regulars and I saw she knows how to keep people happy and well fed. We phone in and always get friendly & efficient service and our orders prepared, packed and ready to go upon arrival. The food is delicious!!Hot and homemade. Absolutely delicious!!! I got the bananas foster pancakes which were amazing. I would definitely order them again. I ordered for delivery and my food was still hot when it arrived. It didn't take long at all either. My only complaint is that I ordered bacon and they gave me sausage instead. Was here recently on a Saturday afternoon. The weather was not so great and I had wanted a later afternoon brunch. This place fit the bill. As this place is on Roosevelt Road, parking can be a bit of a challenge. I managed to find a spot around the corner and I made my way in. I was told to sit where I wanted. As they have menus at the table, I paroused it and found I wanted a skillet and some coffee. The skillet was tasty and the coffee hot...the service was good, but he didn't come around for refills on the coffee. I would come back here sometime to try more of their fare. read more

Another gem in Chicago! A small diner with great food and interesting wait staff! This is a yelp find and I appreciate it! The first thing I noticed when sitting down here was the coffee creamers! I usually don't drink coffee without a flavored creamer. I haven't been to any other restaurants that have them on the table. So I got a cup of coffee and it was just right! I ordered the steak skillet with pancakes! So good and the eggs were cooked perfect (see the picture) definitely a lot of food! My waitress was funny, personable, and clearly had been there for a while. I did order take out a couple of days later and got the biscuits and gravy. They were not good. The biscuits tasted old and dry and the gravy was just okay. This is why I couldn't give them 5 stars because the food was inconsistent.
