Fried chicken sandwich with potato wedges

So good!!! Got recommended this restaurant and I still think about it to this day. The vibe was really cute; brick walls and booths with names written all over the place. The metal touches and darkness really give the food enough contrast to shine! Everyone was very kind in our service, and food came out at a reasonable time. I didn't personally go in the cafe, but I had a cappuccino that was quite nice to drink with my meal! I will come back here soon :)

Medici is a popular spot among the locals of the Hyde park neighborhood. Located right in the heart at the university of Chicago. You can find this place to be busy on any night. Most notably they are known for their pizza. They have wide ranging menu ranging from comfort food, burgers, and sandwiches. The pizza we got was delicious and the service was great as well.

Outstanding service as always!!!! 5 stars! The best thin crust garbage pizza on the planet. The FUDGE BANANA NUT Shake made with Vanilla ice cream blended with hor fudge, banana and pecans - I was also delicious. In for a Penny in for at least a Pound of fat: an wonderful large cup of CAFÉ LATTE espresso and seamed milk with a TRULY DECADENT BROWNIE SUNDAE - a delicious browne topped with chocolate sauce. vanilla ice cream. pecans, and fresh whipped cream. If you closed your eyes and envisioned the perfect college pizza joint with great service, desserts and coffee--Medici is what you'd see! This is an ideal setting.

I was in Hyde Park with some friends and we decided to pop into Medici for an afternoon snack. I loved the vibes of the place, it felt like a chill neighborhood spot. Our server was quick and friendly. We got some appetizers like the veggie and hummus plate and goat cheese dip as well as a few beers. Our favorite was the Grenadine float. The pomegranate soda was so unique and I loved the sherbet on top! Overall, great neighborhood staple.

I ordered a Cesar salad and a hot chai latte during lunch rush. They have no searing but table's while you wait. It didn't take long for my barista to make my latte. The salad took a little longer than I expected considering it was just chopped lettuce, croutons and some finely grated Parmesan cheese. It came with 2 oz. Cups of salad dressing which was adequate. I'd come back to try their sandwiches and the latte was ok.

OH MY GOODNESS THIS IS SO GOOD!! Best hot chocolate, freshly baked pastries, and my latte was phenomenal. Also if you collect 10 coffee holders you get one free heads up! 100% recommend stopping by!

We stopped by Medici while we were strolling in Hyde Park and glad we did! Very typical American spot that was super casual and we were able to walk right in an have some light bites. We all go some beverages but the star was their float which had some kind of lemonade with sorbet on top! Such a sweet and refreshing drink! We also got some goat cheese and hummus to nibble on. Both the apps were great and well priced. Staff was good too. Overall if you're looking for a casual vibe this is a great place to pop into!

We stopped by Medici prior to an architectural tour in this area. The atmosphere is eclectic with a variety of religious symbols throughout the restaurant. Food was fairly typical American influenced fare. We were there during brunch, so we ordered a variety of both breakfast and lunch items. My companions enjoyed the BLTs and I found my breakfast burrito to be a very healthy size. My bloody Mary was also much better than expected. Service was a little bit on the slow side and we went long stretches without seeing or interacting with anyone. Took a while to get refills on water and took a while to get access to the check.

This is a great place for a family dine out. One of our friends took us here. The place had so many options, even for vegetarians. We tried the pizza this time, it was amazing! The brunch menu looked tempting too, would love to try again soon. The service was good, a bit slow or maybe it was a bit too busy because it was Saturday. The ambiance was quite a different vibe, like medieval- ish. Would recommend!

After a conference, I stopped by and was craving something simple but filling. The sandwich and fries were so good. The fries were crispy and perfectly salted. Sandwich had a good portion of meat, not very heavy breading. There was a nice neighborhood feel. Seems like a nice spot to relax after a busy day. I miss Chicago already!

They have an annoying sign on the door about ICE. Maybe let federal agents do their job and stick to making bread?

We got two cupcakes to share -- the purple velvet and the main squeeze. The purple velvet is ube butter cake, ube mousse, and ube cake crumbs. The ube flavor is both sweet and nutty and the mousse topping was light and delicious. The main squeeze is lemon cake filled with lemon curd, cream cheese frosting, and a buttercream lemon on top. Both were incredible, but my favorite was the lemon! I loved that the lemon flavor was light, and the cream cheese frosting balanced it out really nicely. The space is so cute inside! It's also a lot larger than I was expecting. We grabbed a seat at one of the tables inside to enjoy our treats. I will definitely be back with my toddler for a cupcake date soon!

I get the egg, cheese,& hash brown sandwich. The fluffy egg is magic. Potato bun is soft. Hash brown is crispy. The Ube latte is delicious hot or iced. But the star of the show is the pastries. By the time I completed my order, the pickup time was 12:15pm. However, it's nice to order from wherever you are and know what time to swing by for your pickup. When I got there, the line wasn't as crazy as I've seen photos of, but it was still long. You get to walk inside past the line for online pick up. There's a sign on the counter. They make any drinks you order fresh when you get there, and it's really quick too! Service was very friendly and fast inside! The ube latte was one of the best ube flavors I've had in an ube latte before. Highly recommend! I had it iced. The pork belly adobo (only available on weekends I think) was a little disappointing. It's very possible it wasn't that great because it might've been sitting a few minutes before I picked it up and then it was 15-20 minutes uber back to my hotel to eat it. Food is always better when eaten fresh, so I don't fault them for it. The egg was perfectly cooked. I thought the pork belly would be cut in bigger chunks like their photos online, but they were cut very small. I want to try the breakfast sandwich next time I'm in town. The chocolate chip cookie with dark and white chocolate was big, soft, and yummy. I also got the banana tart which was SO good. It was not what I expected, but the flavors and textures were spot on. They have some benches on the side of their restaurant so if you do online order for pickup, I'd recommend trying to grab a spot there and eat the food fresh. I would recommend the baked goods and ube latte, not sure about the hot food until I can go back and try more menu items.

This is a fast casual spot so service was pretty fast. There is a decent amount of seating, most of which was surprisingly taken around 11am on a Thursday. For starters, they no longer have their rainbow cake! I was surprised to hear that considering how popular it's supposed to be. We got both banana lattes which were extremely sweet. It's basically dessert with a hint or caffeine. I'm a big fan of banana, so I actually liked this but I would've preferred half the sweetness. The Turkey Bacon & Egg Croissant was so good! A solid breakfast sandwich - the eggs were cooked perfectly, the turkey bacon was insanely crispy, and that sambal aioli was just what this needed. I highly recommend adding Avocado like I did for some freshness & creaminess since it's a heavy sandwich as is. The Cinnamon Roll was soft, moist, and not overly sweet. Overall, I really enjoyed this breakfast!

Glorious. One-of-a-kind. Amazing. Definitely some of the best pastries I've had in Chicago…read morerecently. If you haven't made it over to Sugar Moon yet, it's well worth a trek out of the way! We visited around noon on a Sunday, and after reading the reviews here, I wasn't optimistic there would be many pastries left. Maybe I should play the lottery, because luckily there was no line and a pretty good selection of pastries left. The staff were super friendly and there were so many unique flavors of baked goods. We decided to split several and opted for the blueberry cloud cookie, chai cinnamon roll, banana pudding croissant, espresso cornflake cookie, and potato focaccia. The shop was more of a small take-out operation, so we took the pastries to a nearby park to eat. Everything was absolutely divine! The group favorite was the focaccia- the creamy potatoes and cheese brought a rich flavor that was perfectly balanced by the fluffy bread. The chai roll was perfectly soft and delicately spiced, completed with that soft cream cheese frosting and gooey center we all like to see. My personal favorite was the banana pudding croissant- the dough was so crispy that I'm pretty sure others could hear the bite, and there was a generous amount of filling with fresh bananas and visible vanilla beans in the whipped cream. The espresso cookie was super soft- while I couldn't taste the espresso very clearly, I absolutely *loved* the caramel-coated cornflakes topped with sea salt. Super unique and would definitely order again. Despite their decadent appearances, none of the pastries were too sweet. Already plotting a return visit and can't recommend this shop enough!
