    sunday brunch menu

M Henry is a very popular brunch spot so be prepared to wait on the weekends as they don't take reservations. We got there around 10:30 with 3 people and we only waited about 10 minutes for a table which was really good! It's pretty big inside and always bustling. They have different types of mimosas as well as all the coffee and lattes. I ended up getting a London Fog, which was very good. For Sunday brunch, they have a separate special menu. I ended up ordering the potato knish benedict off this menu. I'm always so happy when a restaurant serves eggs benedict without meat! The potato knish cakes were yummy and the eggs were cooked perfectly. I think the only thing I would've added next time is avocado! But overall so good and the side salad they give you with the meal is very hearty as well.

Is it just me, or are 95% of breakfast places either coffee and croissants, or something loaded with fats, carbs, and hopefully some proteins. There could be four-and-a-half blueberries on top on the pancakes... but is this really material? No. Enter m.henry. There are two things I enjoyed about the Potato Knish Benedict. First, the hollandaise was enjoyable. Too many hollandaises are heavy on the acid, and light on the savory. m.henry's was towards the savory side, and not disguised lemon juice (or worse, vinegar). Only one other place I've tried thus far has been able to create a passable hollandaise is The Farmer's Daughter down in Easton. I have no complaints about the egg, other than eating them in this and age makes one feel like royalty, but I digress. The Knish cakes themselves were not my cup of tea. They are made of a blend of potato and fontinella cheese. This combination comes across as being sharper than I feel it needs to be. While I appreciate what they were trying to do, this is not a dish I would order again. The star of the show, out of left field, is the salad. The blend of veggies was well thought-out, and I enjoyed both the dressing and the way it was dressed. This salad is what made m.henry feel like a different experience that wasn't all carbs and fats. The vibe inside is that of a cute cafe, but larger. The service was attentive, and surprisingly fast considering how busy the restaurant was at the time. Finally, in light of the cost of everything (especially eggs), I think the prices were more in less in line with the market. Thus, m.henry does a unique breakfast well, the ingredients were quality, and the service was excellent. However, I don't feel the immediate pull to return that a truly great (i.e. 5-star) experience would give me.

Very cute and popular brunch spot in Andersonville! Service was lovely and we thankfully got there early enough (9am Sun) that we didn't have to wait but by the time we left around 11, there was a line out the door. The portion sizes were large and there's plenty of options for everyone to choose from. The food was tasty, but nothing that necessarily blew me out of the water. My favorite out of our dishes we tried were the blackberry blisscakes - the pancakes were soft and the cream in the middle paired perfectly with the fruit. However, the tortillas with some of our other dishes were a little too thick for my taste. Would still go back for a brunch with friends in the future!

This restaurant offered a good and filling vegan option for me, the gluten free mostly vegetarian. My only warning is that the portions are huge - I could have split it with another person, but that's a good problem to have I guess.

When you first come in you can't help but to smell the deliciousness. We were sat as soon as we walked in. They seem to have different specials each day so what you may see on someone's review may not be available when you go. Our server was pleasant. I had Jorge's black bean cakes with chorizo. The only downside to this dish is they didn't put enough chorizo on the tostada. The cinnamon roll French toast, was just that and delicious. I wasn't a fan of the breakfast bread pudding because it was all custard. The sweet taste was their but I wasn't expecting ALL custard.

I have been wanting to come here for a while and made it out on a Saturday afternoon. No wait so that was great! Service was attentive and very kind. Food was very sub par. I got the quiche and my boyfriend got an omelette. The potatoes were cold and not crispy. Quiche was very flat and greasy. Honestly, I just did not enjoy the food at all, and I thought that it would be a lot more fresh. Disappointing.

Super solid spot! The portions were massive and service was so quick. I loooved the shrimp Benedict and the French toast, my friends also liked their hot cakes as well. We came with a group of around 7 people and didn't have too long a wait! Good for groups or couples, would recommend!

Decent brunch spot but it didn't blow me away. Pretty casual interior with plenty of seating. Service was a bit slow but we came on a busy day. Hot chocolate was on the milky side and could have been thicker/stronger. Latina Omeletta was alright, the omelette itself could have been fluffier. The plantains were on the mushy side. Home fries were yummy!

Awesome food, vibrant and happy surroundings and a very nice server. Juan was attentive and gave good guidance! Globally inspired food that was top shelf. We'll be back!

M Henry is a brunch staple and a must try in the Andersonville neighborhood. I've been coming here over the years and the food has always been consistent and delicious. One of my favorites is the bread pudding- which they currently only have available on the weekends. I've tried many of the dishes on the breakfast menu and recommend their omelettes and quiche selections. They also have menu filled with specials. They have bakery items that look sooo good and enticing which are made fresh daily. The service has always been great whenever I dine in at the restaurant and never feel rushed even if they are closing soon. The ambiance is cozy and it can get pretty busy on the weekends. Reservations are not available unfortunately, first come first serve. This is definitely a brunch favorite in Chicago and I highly recommend!

    M. Henry in Andersonville is hands-down my favorite brunch spot in Chicago--nothing else quite hits the same! If you want the best of both worlds (breakfast + lunch), go on a Saturday when their full menu is available. Trust me, it's worth the wait. I am a total sucker for their lemon-raspberry brioche French toast--perfectly soft, slightly tangy, and just sweet enough to make you want to savor every bite. But I can't stop there. Their roasted veggie & goat cheese baguette? A dream. Warm, toasty, and loaded with flavor. And let's not forget the lemon olive oil cake--light, moist, and the perfect way to round out the meal. Honestly, I've ordered almost everything on their menu, and I can confidently say you cannot go wrong with anything. Their dishes are fresh, well-balanced, and made with care. Plus, the cozy, homey atmosphere makes it the kind of place you'll want to linger in. Vegetarian-friendly? Absolutely. Delicious? 100%. Worth a visit (or ten)? No doubt. If you're in Andersonville (or anywhere in Chicago, really), do yourself a favor and get brunch at M. Henry.

    Menu

Been wanting to come here for awhile based on multiple recommendations. Seated quickly with menu. Drinks orders taken immediately with water given. Had the bacon quiche, coffee and side order of bacon. Food is good. Service is okay. If you want more coffee you need to ask. Same goes for water. It wasn't busy at all so you would think they would walk around refilling drinks. May give them another shot.

Easily one of the best burgers in Chicago…read more We both got the bad burger, except my friend got it with mac and cheese. The burger was juicy and the bun was soft; didn't feel like I had to unhinge my jaw just to get a bite like with some other burgers. The toppings for the burger paired harmoniously with the patties, with the pickles adding texture and bite. The fries paired with the burger were honestly whatever, but the spicy aoli paired with it elevated eating the fries. We also got an elote app to share. I did enjoy the cheese and corn and how warm and melty they were, but I think it could've gone without the avocado. The mac and cheese though, now that was absolutely delicious. It was gooey and soft, with the breadcrumbs and bacon adding texture and smokiness. The drinks I got, the sylvan and green eyes, were a little strong for me (I prefer sweeter), but nonetheless excellently mixed. If you like strong, classic flavors, these are for you.

Loved the 90s female R&B playlist they had going! Little Bad Wolf has been on my list FOR YEARS to try the burger! My husband got the burger with fried onions and I got some Bao because those also looked delicious and were a popular menu item. Honestly the 3 stars are only that high because of the service. Our server was friendly and attentive + the food came out hot and quick. Unfortunately, the food was pretty disappointing. The burger was swimming in a puddle of grease and just picking it up made your hands greasy + was dripping grease. The fries that came with it were floppy, soggy, and sad...but at least warm? I personally wouldn't order this again. The Bao were better, but small for the price and honestly were just okay? It was nice they gave you sauces you could add, but I found the Bao's to already have enough sauce so I didn't need them. Overall I left feeling confused and disappointed. I don't feel the need to come back here - Little Bad Will was a one and done experience for me.

For an extra $15, it made sense to order the prix fixe menu with the wine pairings. A cocktail likely would have cost more. The soup and salad were delicious and paired perfectly with great wines. Also paired with a great dessert wine-- possibly the only dessert wine I have ever really liked! Yes the portions are a little smaller for restaurant week, but with four courses I was happy to not feel like a glutton at the end. Incredibly thoughtful and knowledgeable service made this a great choice for dinner. The space is well laid out too. It was more than enough food , but I would like to return to try their cheeses, and larger portions. I am not a fan of most chips, but these were so good, and the pimento cheese was savory , spreadable and very good. The prosciutto flatbread was a mixture of sweet cream and savory. The salt from the prosciutto and the sweetness from the figs was perfect. Our waiter overheard us mentioning an upcoming special occasion and treated us to a slice of cheesecake topped with berry sauce. The cheesecake was so fluffy and the chevre cheese was creamy and had a touch of goat flavor. Uvae lived up to my expectations and we will return.

One thing was missing: top down lighting; otherwise a fantastic experience!…read more I'm a big fan of Little Bad Wolf next door, and finally made it a point to stop in and visit the neighbor. It's not flashy, it is less busy, and if you don't know... sneeze and you'll miss it. The vibe is dark and moody, with notes of brown and dark blue. The art also fits the overall atmosphere well. I question, however, the large TV screen that seemingly only shows their name. It's not intrusive, just a bit weird. However, it was so dark that seeing the menu was more challenging than it needed to be. I can light it up with my phone, though I do (and did) so at the risk of being 'that guy'. Top-down lighting folks, I see the lamps up there, too! I ordered: - Oysters (4 as-is, 4 with mignonette on the side) - Duck Gnocchi - Sticky Toffee Pudding The oysters were medium-sized and excellent quality! They were delightfully briny and without a hint of cartilage or sand. The first order came with mignonette, and while enjoyable, being a bit of a purist, I put on a second order with mignonette on the side. Sure enough, I found myself adding it of my own accord. All the more evidence the kitchen knows what it's doing! Further proof? The Duck Gnocchi - the gnocchi themselves were soft and pillowy, more so than I've experienced up to this point. The duck in the dish was tender and soft as can be. The veggies (mirepoix) were sliced and cooked perfectly, adding texture, freshness and bulk (fiber?) without overpowering anything. To top it all off, breadcrumbs for a little crunch, and a mild sauce that tied everything together in perfect harmony. For the most important course, dessert, we have the Sticky Toffee pudding. A well cooked, well sauced helping of pudding, topped with a large scoop of ice cream that slowly melted, transforming the flavor as you go. For drinks, I ordered the Charred Boulevardier and the Burnout. The Boulevardier was rich, sweet and savory, in contrast the Burnout was brighter and fresher, and still boozy. While neither drink was a smack to the face with alcohol, after getting up, I could feel the effects. In terms of their service, it was polite and attentive, and all items came out fast! The prices are okay, though if you love oysters, keep in mind they will set you back $4/each! Final verdict: There is nothing at The Good Wolf that I wouldn't happily order again. It is hard to choose a standout when everything was of a high caliber. I look forward to working my way through their menu, and continuing to feed the good wolf (props is you know the story of the Two Wolves).

Hopleaf Bar is hands down one of our favorite spots for dinner and drink in all of Chicago!…read more One key to a successful dinning experience at Hopleaf is knowing the three different spaces to engage. When you first walk in, you have to show your ID since this is an adults-only bar establishment. (1) You can then choose to sit in the front bar area, if you want a full menu, but use the bar for ordering service. (2) If you keep walking through the front bar area, you reach the host stand at the top of the ramp. This is where you can put your name in to sit in the main dining room, upstairs, or outside. (3) However, you can also walk through to the left of the host stand to another bar area that has full menus, but bar service for ordering. This is our preferred spot because we can often find a seat and order with the bar. Do note that, during busy times, part of this bar area is managed by the host stand and will be labeled as such. The extensive beer menu is our favorite. We have our favorite food items, so all our decision making revolves around which beer we will get. They always have a bit of everything style-wise, from all over the world, but with a local-brewery focus. Seasonal emphasis is also taken into consideration when they curate the beer list. It is always rotating and we love it! Beers are served in the recommended glasses from the breweries. It's a great drinking experience from start to finish! Our food orders are eternally set: I get the Nueske Ham sandwich with fries and aioli. My husband gets the Reuben sandwich with fries and aioli. This meal is so perfect we'll probably never get anything different, despite the menu being delicious across the board. The wildest we get is sometimes splitting the two sandwiches. No reason to mess with a good thing! Other notable great things about Hopleaf: (1) Kind, knowledgeable, and professional staff. (2) Reasonable prices for high quality and great variety products. (3) Clean Belgian Bar decor/vibe with lots of space for folks to enjoy their time. (4) They are open late and serve food late. Thank you for being an amazing local spot, Hopleaf! We'll see you soon!

Simply, all around excellent!…read more This was one of those cases where I stopped in, started a review, and then it sat in my drafts collecting dust. Thus, a return visit was a must! Primarily because I genuinely enjoyed it, and secondarily because I enjoy writing. Hopleaf boasts a tremendous and awesome beer list! It's truly hard to do it justice in a review. I will say they offer a wide variety of different kinds, origins, styles, bottle versus draft, and so on. For those who aren't beer lovers, there are cocktails, ciders, and more! For food, I was able to try both the Pork Belly and the Slagel Burger. The pork belly was much better than I expected! The exterior was delightfully roasted, and the interior was soft and savory with a good balance between meaty and fatty bits. The pork was well-sauced, and the accompanying accoutrements were similarly fantastic, helping to round out the pork, and adding freshness. On my first visit, my main memory of the burger was a very high salt level. However, this appears to have been addressed on my second visit. Now, is it the best burger in the city? No. However, it is excellent in its own right. The smashed patties have good flavor and a proper char around the edges. The vegetables are present but not so overwhelming that it becomes a hard-to-eat salad, and finally, it is delightfully cheesy! Where service is concerned, the bar staff were friendly and welcoming. They took great care of me and other patrons approaching the bar. Food came out in a reasonable timeframe, especially for items cooked to order. In terms of their vibe, I feel as though the best way I can describe it is to say it's a larger, elevated dive bar. It isn't cramped or dark, and there's plenty of space. At the same time, it isn't at all uppity and preserves that neighborhood establishment feel (though I would certainly go across town to visit on occasion). Finally, regarding value, when the bill came, I felt the amount due was more than reasonable considering the quality of food, beers, and service I received. Thus, while I am generally not a big beer drinker (I'm more of a spirits/cocktails person), I'm not totally against printing out their beer menu and crossing out items as I try them. That is to say, I look forward to coming back again and again.
