We have now been here multiple times over the years and the food has never been better! Very fresh and great menu, something for everyone. The Bliss Burger with the chicken is amazing! Friendly service that makes you feel like you're at home. Very cute neighborhood and warm ambiance. Obviously will return! read more

Best Brunch Cafe, we've been to in a while. They have vegan and vegetarian options. Great pancakes! Martin and Lucy are some of the friendliest, and cutest business owners I've met. The ambiance is nice and chill. You can eat, read a book, talk to a friend, relax. It's a great spot! read more

I love Lucy's. They have great vegetarian options and added meat options. I went on a Saturday around brunch time and it was a full house. I waited about 15-20 minutes for a table for one. There were several other solo diners so it wasn't intimidating sitting alone. It's a small space and gets crowded quickly. Expect to wait if it's during a busy time. read more

Lucy's Cafe is fantastic for brunch any late morning! It is also a great place for a private child's birthday party. The food and service are wonderful. Martin the owner and his staff will take great care of you. Great vibe for the young ones. Had my grandson's First Birthday there, a wonderful success! read more

I had the blackened shrimp wrap which was very good. I liked the flavor and the fact that it had avocado and the sauce was tasty. The side of potatoes was not great. That were overdone and barely warm. Opt for the salad if you're doing lunch. read more

Cute little diner! Went at 12pm on a Sunday and they said the wait was 45 min so I put my name in for a party of 2....it took nearly an hour and a half to get seated, and then another 20-25 min for our food to arrive. Wish they would've been more transparent about the wait. I really appreciate all the vegetarian/vegan friendly options. The veggie sausage was delicious but unfortunately I didn't like the French toast. While the food was good it unfortunately wasn't worth waiting almost two hours for so I definitely will not be back on a Sunday. read more

We've visited Lucy's twice in a week period. The food has been very delicious on both occasions. We ordered the vegan chilaquiles with tofu and the vegan southwest skillet. Both dishes are super flavorful and the perfect portions. I also enjoy their fresh grapefruit juice. We had a bit of a hiccup on the second visit. I recently created an account with the online dining program, Dining Advantage. While browsing I was excited to Lucy's Cafe on the site and purchased the discount voucher with my account credit. On our visit, I went to redeem, and was told by the waiter that they are not part of any dining programs, though they had been years ago, according the waiter. The waiter did ultimately accept the discount, but it can be embarrassing when you can see the slight annoyance on the waiter face. I hope Lucy's takes the steps to ensure that they are removed from the dining program's catalog. With all said, we do plan to continue to visit. read more

I'm celiac and was so happy to find a place serving pancakes - what I did not know is that they'd be the best I've ever had, gf or not! I got one of the combos and was full for the rest of the day. The service was nice, he was very accommodating, and the vibe was very cute inside even though they only played John Mayer hahaha. My girlfriend got a flatbread and it was different than what was described on the menu and she didn't love it but was happy that I loved mine so much. I will be dreaming about these pancakes forever! read more

Great little place for a weekday breakfast or lunch. Hope to try the patio when it's warmer.

Lucy's Cafe is a cute, vegetarian friendly, casual spot. The staff is nice and they have a ton of options for vegans as well. Prices are reasonable and food is solid. I have had a variety of items as I have been here a handful of times. Some of my favorite things to order are the freshly squeezed grapefruit juice, the flight of French toast, and the vegetarian chilaquiles! You can't go wrong with really anything on the menu! read more

Hello! I want to bring attention to a very upsetting situation that occurred today, 10/22, around 11am, between the server and the cook. There was an aggressive outburst from the male waiter/hostess, who yelled at the cook where he was using obscenities and a loud voice. The waiter was upset about different names on various orders a mistake the cook had made. This incident drastically changed the atmosphere, was highly unprofessional, and created instability. My mom, sister, and I really wanted to get up and leave, but we had already ordered food that was being prepared so we felt bad if we did. It was unlike anything I've ever experienced. The cook remained calm and spoke quietly to defuse the tension, while the taller, skinnier man continued to shout, swear, demean the cook, and moved around aggressively in the kitchen in front of all the customers. Will never go back again, unfortunately for me because I really enjoy the food. read more

Stoped by on Wednesday morning for breakfast. Server was having a bad day. Something to do with how Victor took an order. From what I could gather Victor was the cook. So the server lays into him in the most tactless manner; cussing and yelling. Dude hasn't anyone ever taught you how to fix a mistake? That shit is done in private. Classless. I mean this dude went public and disrespected everyone in the establishment. Not to mention the cook. DONT FUCK WITH THE COOK. It affects the quality of the food. Anyhow after I had a cold coffee and over done eggs; the whole thing was cold. Just like the asshole in front. Won't be back. I do not recommend. read more

Lucy's has long been a favorite brunch spot since its Victory's Banner days, and after all these years I am thrilled to say it is as good as it's ever been. The apple pecan pancakes are perfect, the right amount of seasoning in the batter to wonderfully balance the sweetness of the apples and the syrup. The pancakes are cooked just right, and there are lovely little chunks of apple and pecans throughout, assuring a perfect bite every time. The California avocado roll is a unique play on some familiar ingredients, with large cuts of avocado, tomato, and vegan bacon rolled into an egg and tortilla. Just a delicious dish that blends so many flavors and textures together perfectly, a real treat. Let's not forget the potatoes, which are nice and crispy and very well seasoned. It's a rare thing when a restaurant executes a menu this large at such a high level, but Lucy's does it every single time. Sure, there may be a long wait. And yes, occasionally things do take a little longer to come out than expected. But, these issues from the past seem to have been minimized more and more of late, and when it's a scratch kitchen with super fresh ingredients, you're also happy to wait a little bit longer than perhaps at some other spots not doing brunch this well. A favorite now for seven years, Lucy's continues to impress and delight! read more

Very disappointing experience. Having brunch with my family after ballet class. The manager who taking seating and making drinks was nice and attentive. We waited for about 20 minutes for a table, which we all felt was reasonable for a Saturday mid morning, however when seated the server completely ignored us. Having a toddler who was not in best mood seems to make her ignoring my family more obvious. Water was set on the table then we waited. No order was taken for beverage, no offer was made to provide a toddler early service. When the server finally appeared she did not introduce herself and was obviously disengaged with providing satisfactory service. Instead of making amends she just said I know you are ready so what would like to order, We ordered and food took about 40 minutes. The food was mediocre and my daughter in law found her food unedible. With the coffee cream was offered but no sugar or sub was offered. My son had to go to the manager to pay the check, because the server never returned. Upon observation of the table next to us the same server was friendly and introduced herself and was prompt with service. The servers name was Maria. I voiced my concerns to the manager. read more

this was an adorable cafe! very bright!! tables are a bit close together so if u dont mind being able to hear the tables' conversations right by u then try here!! 4 stars for that but also because i dont agree w how they price their items. some items are vegan/vegetarian but they explicitly list an upcharge for making it vegan. also the rice i had with my quesadilla had no flavor at all. i definitely recommend the french toast!! it was so tasty and they use real maple syrup!! our server seemed like he was trying to get the interaction over with every time we talked to him but it was super busy so u cant blame them! read more

Place was really not great.. Everyone working seemed to be acting "too busy" although there was only two other tables in the place. Entire staff seemed kinda rude, especially the man with the bread taking our order. Our tables vegan and not vegan meals got mixed up which to us wasn't a huge deal but you can see how it could be to someone with an allergy or something.. just feels like something you should really have down if you're serving vegan food. Once the food was placed we were completely ignored, never checked on again. Food itself was boring. Not bad, not exceptionally good. Restaurant had a very overwhelming fragrance of Pine-Sol, about giving me a headache. read more

Cute and small is a good way to describe it. If looking for a place that gets crowded at breakfast, this is such a place. Lucy's is one of the popular spots in Roscoe Village. Just be sure to go when it's open, because it's only for breakfast and lunch. There's a pretty good variety for meat eaters and plant based options. At breakfast the last time it was crowded. It always seems to be, with it being a pretty small place so room is limited. There was about a 20 minute wait. Has a lot of variety on the menu. There's meaty and there's vegetarian. I got the Caramelized Onion Flatbread. It's $11, which isn't a bad price. This came with goat cheese but I got the vegan feta, which tasted like a good substitute. Also it was brunch so she got a Veggie Burger. This was a pretty decent sized burger, and it has vegan choices as far as cheese and items. Has to be one of the best places for breakfast around here. It's like the whole neighborhood is here, so it's obviously a very popular place. There's standard breakfast items along with some for vegans and vegetarians. read more

This restaurant gives off a warm homey vibe. It's painted with a nice green and purple and decorated with artwork. The place itself is not that large, so it can get quite loud when it's busy, usually on weekends during breakfast and lunch. The food is always pretty solid. I usually have the pesto & goat cheese omelete which is great, but today I had the asparagus omelete. It was good but thought it could have used some of the sauce from the inside on top. Additionally, there seems to be a repetitive occurrence of slow service. Not sure if they're short-staffed or if they think they can manage everyone with one server, but we had to flag him down multiple times. Prices are very fair which is nice, but they do prefer cash or else they'll charge a credit card fee. The coffee was tepid unfortunately. Usually this isn't the case. I'm giving this place 4 stars based on my previous visits here, but this time wasn't so great. read more

Are YOU a vegan or vegetarian looking to entertain your family at a good price in a terrific neighborhood? Are you looking to catch up with an old friends over brunch? Are you a solo foodie who loves being a regular in an easily accessible spot on Chicago's northside? Time to check out Lucy's Cafe, y'all! I am a frequent flier of Lucy's Cafe and often order the Southwest Skillet - though, I've never been disappointed by any of their other menu offerings. The burgers are especially good! They've recently added meat options, which has meant I can take more of my beloved friends to this place and they have options! So brave! The service is always top-notch. I don't even go particularly regularly, but several staff members remember my name - it's a pretty small, close-knit crew. Just another reason to love this neighborhood gem! I enjoy this restaurant and always go out of my way to go early on weekends - it fills up quick, and I don't think they take reservations. Clean, cozy atmosphere with lots of great food. I've been here before many times. Food is consistently better than average. The service and attitude of the staff has changed dramatically for the worse, unprofessional. It was a Sunday brunch, they were busy but not packed. Apparently the 20min wait to order was because they are short staffed. They would have earned some loyalty capital if they had just communicated this and then we make the choice to stay or not. When after 20m I speak up and get some backhanded comment about being patient with them, well we are not going back. read more

Really good quality and tasty vegetarian fare that makes you appreciate plant based foods. I'm a big meater in my typical life but I always enjoy my food at Lucys. They have a great outdoor sitting area in a very friendly warm neighborhood. I've tried their veggie burgers, scrambles and skillets all of which were delicious. Food all tastes fresh, light yet still filling. The veggie bacon looks different than you typical bacon BUT is surprisingly flavorful without the guilt! There can be lines if you come during prime brunch but it's a wonderful neighborhood to walk around and kill time until it's your turn to eat! read more

Always great food and service! Great vegan options for brunch. Cozy little spot, the type of place you can imagine being a regular.

This might now be my new favorite breakfast place. Thanks Yelp for leading me here today. Adorable outdoor seating perfect for a summer day ( inside is cute too) and the menu is fantastic. I'm not vegan but happy to eat vegan and had the best breakfast- sriracha and avocado egg scramble with vegan bacon - YUM. Choice of potato's or side salad - went with the healthy theme of the salad and did not disappoint. Will bring the kids back for waffles or French toast as both looked fantastic. Service was friendly and attentive. Neighborhood gem. Will be back for sure! read more

They make a damn fine veggie burger! I know everyone is into the Impossible and Beyond burgers, but I love a good house-made veggie burger. Hard to come by. I got the bacon cheeseburger and it was super tasty. I think the bacon was morningstar, which I like. It was also a normal-sized burger, the size they used to be before we decided burgers should be big enough to feed a family of four. I've also tried the avocado toast, Mexican corn style. Very tasty, but the thing that will have me coming back it the burger. read more

Cute little cafe in the Roscoe Village with plenty of vegan options. I ordered the French toast flight but ended up being a little disappointed. It wasn't as fluffy as I'd hoped & seemed a little small though the flavors were pretty good. Also, for it to be priced similarly to other menu items that come with a side of fried potatoes, the French toast doesn't come with a side which seems weird. Service was good. read more

The French toast was absolutely spectacular. Definitely a must get to share, or even just keep to yourself! It's that good. If you want something more savory, the curry wrap with tofu and veggies was amazing. A great mix in with the sweetness of the French toast. The wrap was well made and didn't fall apart, and I did not feel weighed down at all. Oh, and it's massive, so bring your appetite. Service was nice, friendly, and very down to earth. Really makes you feel welcome and comfortable. The environment is cute and even though tables are close by, you feel comfortably separated. Overall, I would highly recommend this place if you're in the area. If I lived here, I would be a regular for life. read more

This cafe is a small cute spot with amazing breakfast! We had to wait about 20-25 minutes for a party of two on a Sunday afternoon. It was really busy! We got sat within the time frame, but it did take a while to get our server. She came and we ordered right away and the food came within reasonable time. I had the French toast flight and crispy potatoes on the side. The food was amazing! The presentation was super cute and the French toast was fresh and hot. I absolutely loved the texture of the potatoes, it super crunchy! Would highly recommend! read more

Admittedly I missed the wait to be seated sign and sat my family of 5 down at a table in what was a pretty empty restaurant. The waiter look at me, smacked the sign that said wait to be seated and things kind of stayed at that level of service. My 6 year old granddaughter asked what there was to drink to be told to look at the online menu because there were too many things from which to choose. Lucy's is super charming and also has a dog friendly patio! (Because we hate leaving our little pooch at home). The patio is also covered so it's great to block out that summer time sun from beating down on you during your meal. I love sweet and savory! I kind of get FOMO if I only get one or the other so I elected to the get eggs in a basket with a kids size blue berry pancake. I enjoyed both. I don't think it was amazing by any means but it was enjoyable. My boyfriend had the Mexican scramble which he enjoyed quite a bit! I will say that Sunday mornings they are super busy and our waitress was super sweet and accommodating when we saw her, but she definitely was stretched thin and so it took awhile for us to get coffee refills and our check at the end. Definitely a pleasant experience if you are not in a rush and find yourself on Roscoe. read more
