Went at 12pm on a Sunday and they said the wait was 45 min so I put my name in for a party of 2....it took nearly an hour and a half to get seated, and then another 20-25 min for our food to arrive. Wish they would've been more transparent about the wait. I really appreciate all the vegetarian/vegan friendly options. The veggie sausage was delicious but unfortunately I didn't like the French toast. Very disappointing experience. Having brunch with my family after ballet class. The manager who taking seating and making drinks was nice and attentive. We waited for about 20 minutes for a table, which we all felt was reasonable for a Saturday mid morning, however when seated the server completely ignored us. Having a toddler who was not in best mood seems to make her ignoring my family more obvious. Water was set on the table then we waited. No order was taken for beverage, no offer was made to provide a toddler early service. When the server finally appeared she did not introduce herself and was obviously disengaged with providing satisfactory service. Instead of making amends she just said I know you are ready so what would like to order, We ordered and food took about 40 minutes. The food was mediocre and my daughter in law found her food unedible. With the coffee cream was offered but no sugar or sub was offered. My son had to go to the manager to pay the check, because the server never returned. Upon observation of the table next to us the same server was friendly and introduced herself and was prompt with service. The servers name was Maria. I voiced my concerns to the manager. read more

We've visited Lucy's twice in a week period. The food has been very delicious on both occasions. We ordered the vegan chilaquiles with tofu and the vegan southwest skillet. Both dishes are super flavorful and the perfect portions. I also enjoy their fresh grapefruit juice. We had a bit of a hiccup on the second visit. I recently created an account with the online dining program, Dining Advantage. While browsing I was excited to Lucy's Cafe on the site and purchased the discount voucher with my account credit. On our visit, I went to redeem, and was told by the waiter that they are not part of any dining programs, though they had been years ago, according the waiter. The waiter did ultimately accept the discount, but it can be embarrassing when you can see the slight annoyance on the waiter face. I hope Lucy's takes the steps to ensure that they are removed from the dining program's catalog. With all said, we do plan to continue to visit. read more

I'm celiac and was so happy to find a place serving pancakes - what I did not know is that they'd be the best I've ever had, gf or not! I got one of the combos and was full for the rest of the day. The service was nice, he was very accommodating, and the vibe was very cute inside even though they only played John Mayer hahaha. My girlfriend got a flatbread and it was different than what was described on the menu and she didn't love it but was happy that I loved mine so much. Hello! I want to bring attention to a very upsetting situation that occurred today, 10/22, around 11am, between the server and the cook. There was an aggressive outburst from the male waiter/hostess, who yelled at the cook where he was using obscenities and a loud voice. The waiter was upset about different names on various orders a mistake the cook had made. This incident drastically changed the atmosphere, was highly unprofessional, and created instability. My mom, sister, and I really wanted to get up and leave, but we had already ordered food that was being prepared so we felt bad if we did. It was unlike anything I've ever experienced. The cook remained calm and spoke quietly to defuse the tension, while the taller, skinnier man continued to shout, swear, demean the cook, and moved around aggressively in the kitchen in front of all the customers. Place was really not great.. Everyone working seemed to be acting "too busy" although there was only two other tables in the place. Entire staff seemed kinda rude, especially the man with the bread taking our order. Our tables vegan and not vegan meals got mixed up which to us wasn't a huge deal but you can see how it could be to someone with an allergy or something.. just feels like something you should really have down if you're serving vegan food. Lucy's has long been a favorite brunch spot since its Victory's Banner days, and after all these years I am thrilled to say it is as good as it's ever been. The apple pecan pancakes are perfect, the right amount of seasoning in the batter to wonderfully balance the sweetness of the apples and the syrup. The pancakes are cooked just right, and there are lovely little chunks of apple and pecans throughout, assuring a perfect bite every time. The California avocado roll is a unique play on some familiar ingredients, with large cuts of avocado, tomato, and vegan bacon rolled into an egg and tortilla. Just a delicious dish that blends so many flavors and textures together perfectly, a real treat. Let's not forget the potatoes, which are nice and crispy and very well seasoned. It's a rare thing when a restaurant executes a menu this large at such a high level, but Lucy's does it every single time. Sure, there may be a long wait. And yes, occasionally things do take a little longer to come out than expected. But, these issues from the past seem to have been minimized more and more of late, and when it's a scratch kitchen with super fresh ingredients, you're also happy to wait a little bit longer than perhaps at some other spots not doing brunch this well. Just be sure to go when it's open, because it's only for breakfast and lunch. There's a pretty good variety for meat eaters and plant based options. At breakfast the last time it was crowded. It always seems to be, with it being a pretty small place so room is limited. There was about a 20 minute wait. Has a lot of variety on the menu. There's meaty and there's vegetarian. I got the Caramelized Onion Flatbread. It's $11, which isn't a bad price. This came with goat cheese but I got the vegan feta, which tasted like a good substitute. Also it was brunch so she got a Veggie Burger. This was a pretty decent sized burger, and it has vegan choices as far as cheese and items. Has to be one of the best places for breakfast around here. The place itself is not that large, so it can get quite loud when it's busy, usually on weekends during breakfast and lunch. The food is always pretty solid. I usually have the pesto & goat cheese omelete which is great, but today I had the asparagus omelete. It was good but thought it could have used some of the sauce from the inside on top. Additionally, there seems to be a repetitive occurrence of slow service. Not sure if they're short-staffed or if they think they can manage everyone with one server, but we had to flag him down multiple times. Prices are very fair which is nice, but they do prefer cash or else they'll charge a credit card fee. The coffee was tepid unfortunately. Usually this isn't the case. They have a great outdoor sitting area in a very friendly warm neighborhood. I've tried their veggie burgers, scrambles and skillets all of which were delicious. Food all tastes fresh, light yet still filling. The veggie bacon looks different than you typical bacon BUT is surprisingly flavorful without the guilt! Admittedly I missed the wait to be seated sign and sat my family of 5 down at a table in what was a pretty empty restaurant. The waiter look at me, smacked the sign that said wait to be seated and things kind of stayed at that level of service. My 6 year old granddaughter asked what there was to drink to be told to look at the online menu because there were too many things from which to choose. If you want something more savory, the curry wrap with tofu and veggies was amazing. A great mix in with the sweetness of the French toast. The wrap was well made and didn't fall apart, and I did not feel weighed down at all. Oh, and it's massive, so bring your appetite. Service was nice, friendly, and very down to earth. Really makes you feel welcome and comfortable. The environment is cute and even though tables are close by, you feel comfortably separated. Do not let the cute name 'Lucy's' nor the charming corner location fool you - this was hands down, the WORST chai I have ever had! I am shocked they have the gall to sell their own mix! It was watery, flavorless, took forever to come & was lukewarm when it arrived. They are barely open (5 hours 5 per days week) but sometimes they will randomly close on a work day. We were leery to order food and decided to try their chai first before ordering, but were promptly told there was a $10 per minimum charge per customer! I have never had a restaurant tell me this. Despite feeling trapped, we finally managed to get here despite their ever changing, elusive business hours so I ordered Vegan buttermilk pancakes - seems simple enough right? I mean it is a brunch place after all & they claim to cater to vegans - wrong! The pancakes were gummy, floury, hard to swallow, wouldn't cool down and the butter tasted like the inside of a freezer. The 2 tablespoons of maple syrup given wasn't enough to cover the pancakes and we were told we would be charged to get more maple syrup. The atmosphere was also cheap and tasteless! The outside sign, corner location and website make you think you're eating at some cute, charming place... Well, wrong again! I like rustic but they basically threw up the most inartistic, mass prints & tacky paintings they could find. Their website ironically claims they care - but the food, atmosphere & service are so obviously thoughtless! They make a damn fine veggie burger! I know everyone is into the Impossible and Beyond burgers, but I love a good house-made veggie burger. Hard to come by. I got the bacon cheeseburger and it was super tasty. I think the bacon was morningstar, which I like. It was also a normal-sized burger, the size they used to be before we decided burgers should be big enough to feed a family of four. I've also tried the avocado toast, Mexican corn style. Honestly what a gem!!!!!! We have walked by this place dozens of times and finally decided to give it a try a few weeks ago and I've been thinking about it ever since. It's a small place so if you go prime time on a weekend there is a wait but it's worth it, and they'll take your phone number and call you so you can walk around Roscoe. The food was just all flavored so well and tasted so fresh and the staff was friendly. We got both savory and sweet and I can't decide what was better, and Im normally always a savory brunch gal. Lucy's is super charming and also has a dog friendly patio! (Because we hate leaving our little pooch at home). The patio is also covered so it's great to block out that summer time sun from beating down on you during your meal. I love sweet and savory! I kind of get FOMO if I only get one or the other so I elected to the get eggs in a basket with a kids size blue berry pancake. I enjoyed both. I don't think it was amazing by any means but it was enjoyable. My boyfriend had the Mexican scramble which he enjoyed quite a bit! I will say that Sunday mornings they are super busy and our waitress was super sweet and accommodating when we saw her, but she definitely was stretched thin and so it took awhile for us to get coffee refills and our check at the end. I thought this would be delicious: this place is usually packed, with five-star reviews aplenty. And the vegetarian sausage patties plus the four raspberries on my pancakes were yummy! The pancakes underneath though were dry and crumbly, and it's downhill from there. The potatoes were barely warm and unseasoned, the scrambled eggs seemed entirely unsalted. My partner had the same dry pancakes and "leathery" over-easy eggs. Also, water glasses smelling of egg are a big no. Was this a one-off? Possibly.
