Now, let's get into this burrito and matcha. The matcha was delicious and incredibly balanced, smooth, and full of flavor. I got mine with oat milk (nice lil option for those who are lactose intolerant like me). The drink size was a tad small for my liking and personally I would've been willing to pay extra for a larger size since the drink was definitely giving quality. The burrito was really savory and also balanced there was not too much of one thing, each bite included all that what was described on the menu. The cilantro crema took everything a step further. I did enjoy the crisp texture on the tortilla. I'm a fan of a nice crunch and it was cool getting it out of a breakfast burrito. Again the sizing was small-ish but everything together was filling. This was our second time at Wake and Late DTLA. We came at the recommendation of a friend who loves breakfast burritos. First time was a poor experience, but they eventually made it right. So we came back to give them another chance! Saw they had a new item on their menu, Juarez, and decided to try it. The Juarez ($8.50) is a bean and cheese burrito that is made with organic flour tortilla, organic refried beans, and grass fed mozzarella. It's served with side of garlic crema, pickled onions, and blistered chilies. You have the option of adding Short Rib Birria (grass-fed) $5 or Chicken Verde (organic) $3. Gluten free tortilla (gf coconut-cassava flour) is also an option for $2.75. We opted for as is. We used the website ordering option. Each location's ordering page is on the main website. https://www.wakeandlate.com We did ASAP and it took about 15-20 minutes for the order to be ready. Parking is challenging since it's DTLA. We found temporary parking, and I hopped out while my family waited in the car. The pickup window is kinda inconspicuous, but there's often people waiting by the railing. Michelle greeted me at the window and let me know my order was still being worked on. She was positive and friendly. I waited ~5 minutes. Michelle offered me a free drink when I asked if she wanted to be in my Yelp photo. I opted for OJ, and she gave me two when I mentioned they were for my girls. The Juarez was pretty good on its own, but small. It was fun to try the sides in different combinations. Would be great if they included a spreading stick, fork, or knife for the sides (I had to use my fingers). As one other Yelper mentioned the price is high for the size, but they do use quality ingredients--organic and grass fed. For the future, we'll likely stick with the breakfast burrito. read more

For almost 30 dollars total, including a 14 ounce lemonade for 7 dollars, the value simply was not there. Even if they advertise high quality ingredients, the burrito did not feel substantial or filling, and the portion did not match the price at all. I ordered extra sauce thinking the burrito was going to be big, but with how small it was, the extra crema felt pointless. The location also makes the experience frustrating. It is in the heart of DTLA where parking is almost nonexistent, the area smells bad, and there is a lot of homelessness directly around the block. It is not a comfortable place to wait for food or dine in, and for the price point, the overall experience feels disappointing. If the burrito were larger and had a reasonable portion of steak, this could be a very different review. My biggest gripe is the price. I get it. They use high-quality ingredients, but I still feel like $18 for a breakfast burrito of that size is a bit steep. I looked up the Neuske's Bacon, and it sells for $1.08 per ounce, which is about double the price you pay for the bacon per ounce in the supermarket. I would feel more comfortable paying $14 for a burrito of that size, even with the high-quality ingredients. Another problem for me personally is not having anywhere to eat the burrito. I like walking around the city, especially after eating a big meal to burn off some calories. It was sort of a letdown not being able to sit down and eat anywhere. I feel like this is another reason for the price to be lower. Can you tell? I'm not happy with the price.
