Local Pittsburgh breakfast chain with a large selection of waffles (surprise surprise given the name of the establishment) both pre-defined and custom created. I went for a pre-defined waffle since it was the daily special, the funky monkey. It was very good; belgium style waffle served with bananas and a drizzle of chocolate and house made peanut butter. The waitress offered a vanilla syrup to go with it and that worked well. At a $5 discount, also a very good deal. My partner went with an omelette rather than the waffles and that was good too. Only complaint would be that it was a tad pricey, but getting the daily special kind of mitigated that. But over $11 for a waffle at regular price is a bit much. Coffee however was reasonably priced and the waitress was good about keeping the cups filled. Also I thought the atmosphere/decor at the downtown location was a little drab, especially for the prices being charged. But if you want delicious waffles (and omelettes), this place would be a good choice. read more

First experience here was a pretty good one. I am doing keto currently and there were definitely options on the menu I could have. Extremely disappointed in my lunch experience at the downtown location. While the wait staff were friendly, efficient and happy to see us, the side salad was abysmal. I ordered the mushroom and goat cheese omelet (good) with a side salad. The "salad" was a small bowl of specialty lettuce and nothing else! No other veggies, not even a tomato or cucumber (staples) and no dressing! To top it off, much of it was inedible with slimy pieces clearly going bad. I LOVE Waffles INCaffeinated. My first couple of experiences were at the South Side location, but the Downtown one is much more convenient for me. The food quality is great and I always love a good latte from this place. I'm giving five stars because I've always been truly satisfied with the food. The one thing that could be improved is the service. The past 2 times I have gone there (both in April 2019) the restaurant has seemed a bit understaffed. I had to wait about 20 minutes each time, which wasn't unexpected because I went at peak hours. However, the person taking names was so overwhelmingly busy, he didn't take out names down for about 10 minutes and we were just waiting there confused for a while. The communication between the staff and the customers could be improved, but as always, the food was great. read more

Well. This was expensive and disappointing. I paid over $13 for a plain waffle and cup of coffee - which wouldn't have been so bad if the waffle was good. But it was rubbery, terrible and tho they advertise vegan, they don't have vegan butter. Not sure - but I highly doubt - their maple syrup is real maple syrup. It didn't have the taste or texture of it. The only saving grace is here my server was super sweet, nice and accommodating. I guess if you're in to junk food all the time - this is the place for you. I'm so happy that downtown has a new brunch restaurant! Living downtown we are a bit limited in brunch choices that are in walking distance. My boyfriend and I came here on a very busy Sunday but Yelp has a check-in option so you can get your name on the list prior to arrival. We had about a half hour wait. Once seated we were promptly greeted by our server. I did a build your own waffle and put about everything on it! My boyfriend ordered the chicken and waffles. Both of our dishes were great. tl;dr I'd rather eat at Denny's. I received a cold overcooked omelette, paid extra for toast and it was quite expensive! The home-fries are a variety of root vegetables which is actually pretty neat. But they were cooked them long before I got em, so they sort of had a hollow texture to them, and weren't appetizing. Two breakfasts, with a side of toast and really really bitter undrinkable coffee. Yum! I loved the option for savory and sweet waffles. If you are a waffle person over a pancake person, this is the place for you. The waffles were not especially tasty but they have a variety if combinations. The waffles were definitely fresh and they have great selection of juices and coffee. I recommend this place! The service is beyond horrible at this place. First we waited quite a while to be seated even though several workers noticed us and there were plenty of tables open and no one else waiting. Then when they finally seated us, they tried to cram us into a seating area when we had a stroller and there was someone in a wheelchair who would be unable to get out. We requested to sit at one of the many open tables that had more room and they let us move to one of those. When we finally ordered our food we waited half an hour before we finally got frustrated enough to ask if it was coming out any time soon. Apparently they never even started it. Went to Waffles INCAFFEINATED for a yelp elite event where were able to try a much of different items of the menu. The real sleeper item was the home fries. Multicolored potatoes with peppers and onions crispy and fluffy to perfection! They also offered three types of syrup: classic, bourbon (very bourbon-y!) and vanilla (simple syrup) The gumbo waffle with ice cream was a bit strange to learn about but very good! Also all of the sweet waffles were nice... but again how could you go wrong?! The reason I'm giving four stars is two fold: Firstly the waffles were not very crispy. They were more soft and one textured. I would have loved a nice crispy exterior. Secondly, the Benny (my off the menu pick for the night) was more bland than I would have liked. The hollandaise was very rich but one noted. That and the creamy egg and soft waffle led to a less dynamic experience than I would have hoped. Subbing in bacon for the ham and adding some pepper or chives or something would have upped the dish. They also offer a variety of espresso drinks but do not have a real espresso machine so they aren't great but hey do offer almond and soy milk! They also served a vegan waffle which was very good! What a great place! I've been to the waffles INCafeinated in Beaver and was excited to try this new location. Upon walking in, I must say I love the location and the orange on the walls! What a welcoming space. The owner is so nice and just seems to be looking to serve his customers. He also has a great staff that was hard at work and very efficient. I tried both the vegan waffles with berries and the southern waffles that had chicken, fried egg and sausage gravy. The vegan was so good and I think I will be back to just have full order of that! What a great surprise. I tried the southern style waffles, but truthfully, I've had the chicken and waffles before and so I wanted to try something new with the gravy and egg but just the plain is probably my favorite. Although the gravy and egg version was delicious there is something so good about the plain chicken and waffles with the bourbon syrup that is just wonderful. I initially was looking at this place for a friend that had celiac friendly options. I am definitely planning on coming with that friend but had a wonderful sneak peak yesterday when I visited waffles incaffinated. My friends and i shared the breakfast tacos, the bananas foster, and the Country Benedict. We switched the chips for the breakfast potatoes and I'm so glad we did! The potatoes were AMAZING! Incredibly crispy on the outside but pillow-y soft on the inside. Every bite of waffle and taco had an even amount of whatever type of waffle it was. I also got a chai latte (less chai and more milk than expected but alright) and my friend got their signature latte (which she loved). Overall I would 10/10 recommend, particularly if you enjoy sharing your breakfast in a happy atmosphere. I will definitely be back to try more of their menu in the future. read more
