The Edgewood Waffle House manager instructed an employee to not say anything when she discovered maggots from the ham container popping on the grill while making a ham and cheese omelet and served the customer the maggot filled omelet. although they instructed the employee to clean out the container afterwards, they still allowed contaminated food to be served. also cleaning out just one of many containers close to one another crawling with maggots does not solve the condition. this Edgewood Waffle House is being investigated and should be ashamed. read more

The people giving this Waffle House 1 star reviews are completely wrong. Sure, it's a bit dirty, it's a bit slow, but it deserves 5 stars. The employees work so hard. There is only one cook and that place was packed, she worked so hard and did such a good job at making the food. The waffle I had was delicious, and so were the hashbrowns. There was a total of 4 people working their asses of in there, and I can't imagine having to do that every day for 24 hours, for an ENTIRE YEAR. No days off. (ok maybe the workers get a few days off(hopefully)) But with their lack of workers, I bet they work extra long. I was expecting an average restauran, but this Waffle House was a true 10/10. read more

I absolutely love going to waffle house! Whenever I travel south I try to hit one up. I was With a friend who was a stranger to the wonders of the waffle house but my excitement was infectious. The spot was crowded but we didn't have to wait long as there were 2 empty stools at the counter. I was so pumped for the greasy deliciousness that awaited. Our orders were taken right away and almost immediately our drinks were placed in front of us. While we waited we couldn't help but notice how the workers really seemed to get along with each other and were enjoying what they were doing. Being a cynical New Yorker I wondered if they were putting it on for the customers but quickly realized it was for real. The food itself: It's waffle house! My pecan waffle was on point with a pecan in every forkful and the order of hash browns were not greasy at all. The coffee was good too, way better than IHOP. My friend got eggs,sausage and hash browns and cleaned his plate! Our server kept checking on us and we gave him the thumbs up. Quick, cheap food that didn't leave us feeling bloated. If there's one thing I realized by this point in my life, it's that I don't go to Waffle House enough. It's inexpensive and open 24/7. What more do you want when you're traveling home late at night? I wish there was one closer to home though. Anyway, tonight I decided to try the Edgewood Waffle House. The funny thing I noticed about Waffle House is no matter how big the plot of land it sits on, it's always the same small narrow-rectangle building. I have to wonder if somewhere out there, there's a Waffle House on a 100-acre lot, where you have to travel a mile up a driveway to the same small building. To put things plainly, there weren't really many tables in the dining area at this Waffle House, although on Sunday night, the crowd was light enough that it wasn't a problem. Service was actually surprisingly good. The server was polite and prompt, and knew how to describe the scale of the hash browns we were about to order. I had my hash browns all the way and it was everything I hoped for -- a veritable food pile! Certainly, it was a lot more filling than some platters costing two or three times that I've had at other restaurants. In summary, I definitely would return to this Waffle House. Not only was it more than adequate for dinner, it's also very conveniently close to an I-95 exit. The only thing I didn't see tonight was a fight in the parking lot, so I guess I missed out there. read more

A solid three stars. New Jersey is devoid of Waffle Houses. Have to get our fix when we can. And that fix was satisfied on our way home from Baltimore. The place was filthy. Tables weren't bussed. Place was really loud, the result of an overexuberant line cook who was happy to be going off shift. The decibel meter was off the charts. But we were happy. Waffles, smothered well done home fries always impress. Coffee is always good. Scrambled eggs? Well, they were serviceable. And our server got the job done. A tasty treat before hitting the road. We've been to this Waffle House three times. Seems about every time we're driving between Philly and DC this is the perfect place to stop for breakfast or lunch. It's your typical Waffle House, nothing different about the food. The staff is nice, which is normal. It can get a bit busy at this location at certain times. We've had to sit at the counter the last two times. There's a gas station next door so it's a good place to fuel up with waffles and, well, fuel. Parking lot is a bit tight but there are extra spaces around back. Enjoy! read more

I came to this location to get some breakfast and we had to wait almost an hour just to get our food. The tables were dirty even after we asked the lady to clean them they were still dirty. I ordered an waffle and asked for it to be light and it came out hard so I asked if it could be remade which it was and it came out the exact same way. The grits were lumpy and the coffee tasted like water. One lady was not wearing gloves and was handling the food and that same lady talked on top of my food. But the manger there is very nice and did address the issues with our food. The staff (excluding two nice ladies and the cook) was just not it and I truly do think they should rethink who they hired. read more

Again - I'll side with those that are confused with all the glowing remarks. I wouldn't normally waste a Yelp review on a place like this but WOW...just wow. I nearly barfed through the entire meal. We ate at the counter at around 10am on a Sunday, and it was busy, the place was a wreck - and very crowded. Our food came quickly; I had an omelette, with cheese and ham. The cheese tasted like something out of a can, and there were a scant few ham chunks tossed in, nothing like the picture on the menu. The eggs were whipped into a foam like texture - kind of foam rubbery, not very appealing. But get this, as we dined, a man was pouring 5 gallon buckets of steaming hot water all over the kitchen floor - he must have poured 2 or 3 at a time - floating all the nasty bits that fell to the kitchen floor, meanwhile the people working there, feet soaking in this slop, up to their pants, soaking their pant legs - it was disgusting, he was squeegeeing this muck all over the place. He must have done it 2 or 3 times - the entire time we were there the kitchen was a dirty disgusting lake of floating debris, with the employees slogging around in it up to their ankles...seemingly oblivious to the entire process. Man clean the floors when you are not busy...before or after hours - 10am on a Sunday morning - was one of the most disgusting things I have ever seen in a restaurant. read more

Amazing food cooked fresh in front of you! Have to appreciate that and the old-fashioned diner feel. I wish we had this in Philly! I ordered the breakfast sandwich with egg, cheese, and bacon along with a side of hash browns and a refreshing glass of Tropicana orange juice. The sandwich was incredible! It wasn't bad, but I'm used to my crispy home fries now so I can't go back. The reason for my 3 star review is due to the fact that we were served after 2 other groups of people came in after us. We were told to sit down in a row of "waiting area" seats so the woman who seats the guests could better manage the flow of people. It wasn't extremely busy and we were next to be seated. If you can imagine the bar, from left to right, two seats were open, then a man was sitting in the third seat, and then three more seats were open on his right.. I naturally figured, being a group of three, that we'd get the three-seater. Well, the server gave the seats to a couple. It made absolutely no sense. Then continued to seat another group before us. I was so frustrated that I was on the edge of the seat that I never wanted to sit on. TL;DR: We finally got our seats after some time and that waiter never once came near our table. Not-so-great service, dirty atmosphere/work stations, but the killer breakfast menu is holding up my 3 star rating. (Our friend order lunch items and was not impressed, however. Went on a Sunday morning with a party of 7 and were seated within 20 minutes (way faster than expected since it was really busy). At first, I was a bit overwhelmed by the sheer amount of people in the kitchen....but upon sitting at the bar realized that this place has everything down to a science. Our food was served in about 10 minutes and tasted good. The hash browns were pretty bland...but upon seeing the giant carton they come out of, I shouldn't be surprised. Try not to get a seat under one of the air vents. They keep the place pretty cold since the kitchen is just hanging out in the middle of the place and it's really tiny....we would all probably boil to death within minutes if they didn't keep it sub-zero. I was a slow eater that day and the last bites of my food were very cold because we were under a vent....but my Texas Bacon Egg and Cheese Melt was pretty damn tasty. It was also really cheap and included hash browns and a soft drink. At first I was really concerned because I've had bad experiences with Waffle Houses in the past (meaning they have had me racing the clock on the way home to not get sick everywhere) but this one did not have that effect. I managed to go to a wedding and have a great day and not feel any gastrointestinal distress at all. Huzzah! I can't give it more than 3 stars though because it is a Waffle House and if any of my Philadelphia breakfast/ brunch spots knew I cheated on them with this chain....they might leave me. read more

This place is freakin DISGUSTING !!!! This was on a Saturday July 18th @2:49PM to be EXACT !!!!! I have FOOTAGE as well. ALL OF the tables were literally ALL FILTHY, with dirty dishes and plates on them. The waitresses were sitting counting their tips in front of everyone; they were NOT off the clock yet. I got yelled at by one of the waitresses for wanting to sit at the counter so I wouldn't be sitting so close to the two waitresses who were counting their tips AND eating AND barking at the chef talking about they were "starving"....I got a REAL racist vibe from that establishment & I had been there once before which is why I went this time around but this time, was THE LAST TIME. This location should be shut down for very STANK conditions, not only in terms of the non existence of cleanliness but from the staff. I LOVE Waffle House food but NOT that much to be treated as if I'm the inconvenience when they're there to serve the public. They didn't even have the proper cleaning products nor materials to clean each table 100% which raises a true health concern ESPECIALLY during this PANDEMIC !!!!!! First time here. Prices are extremely reasonable. I ordered the bacon egg and cheese melt on the Texas toast. It was really good. The bread was crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle. Egg and bacon were cooked well. I ordered a regular side of hash browns because the menu said they were popular. I thought they were just ok. Maybe it was because I didn't add any of the many toppings. They were a little crunchy on the outside but I may have liked them more if they cooked longer. Saw the cooks cracking the eggs and making things from scratch. I do appreciate that.
