First time trying out this spot in October. My parents have been here about 5 or 6 times. Food here was good and the portion are huge. I ordered a regular hamburger, my dad got the burger with bacon and my mom got the Denver omelette. This is her go to order here, it comes with pancake and hash brown. We came here for Father's Day. Ended up splitting the eggs, bacon, potatoes and pancake. What I didn't expect was our server brought it already split. Felt like a whole meal. Like stepping back in time - in a very good way. Greeted when we walked in the door, served an abundance of food with attentive service. My husband and I both ordered off the lighter portions section of the menu. His pancakes were overflowing the plate and super thick and fluffy. I had a Denver omelette and wasn't able to finish it all. The granddaughters had the kids pancakes that also overflowed the plate. We had enough pancakes to feed all of the Brady Bunch kids. Be forewarned that they come with a lot of whipped cream and sprinkles which we would have declined but the kids were happy to have whipped cream for breakfast. I felt bad that we wasted more food than we ate but we would most definitely return. Lastly, when we were getting ready to leave I saw the staff being extremely courteous to an older couple who had come in. Like others have mentioned this is an old-time diner that has been in this location for years with pretty much the same staff and repeat customers. Place is large, we've gone there when it's been busy and when it's slow and the service is always efficient and friendly. Prices are also good and portion sizes are large. We like that the meats are good quality, ham, bacon, and sausage. We've tried just about all the diners in Manteca and their bacon and breakfast sausage is the best. Even when we ordered the mini or light entrées, we still end up taking leftovers home. We also like the pancakes which are huge and fluffy. read more

We have been to this place a couple times now. Mom seems to like it when we don't have to drive her to Modesto or Ripon for Sunday breakfast out. Each time we are here, the servers are pleasant and the food is good. But, one thing that is glaring is the EXTREME noise level that is soooooo incredibly annoying and in many ways painful. You have to yell at the person across the table to talk. I spend more time reading lips and guessing as to what they are saying. This last weekend, it was a circus of screaming babies, which in itself is annoying. The parents were doing nothing to mitigate the problem. I doubt we will be returning because of the noise issues. We were promptly seated on a Sunday at about 1pm and ordered beverages right away. I tried the corned beef hash and eggs, ordered crispy corner beef with eggs on the lighter side as I don't like dry scrambled eggs. Corned beef was mushy, not crispy though. I have been going here for a long time and order the same thing. Never complained about anything in years of patronizing. Today I could not eat my breakfast because it was drowned in gravy and way too much American cheese. I told the owner and he argued with me and then tried to only give me $5 off after I ate 2. Items. I couldn't believe it and told him nicely that's fine but I will not return and he said I do t want to make you angry and took my omelet off but charged me for my toast I ate. WOW, we were camping at French Camp RV Resort and wanted a good breakfast. My brother in law remembers a place near the Moose Lodge down the road, we set out to find it and run into this place. The Waffle Cafe is one of those old school diners that you see for years. We finally tried them out. Clean and spacious on the inside with good flavor and good portions = being there for a long time. Waffles here - definitely properly named as it's pretty solid as a waffle should be. For other foods and such, it's what you would expect from a breakfast diner place - hearty. There is a lot of parking available in the lot and quite a lot of seating inside, mostly it is just not enough servers to be able to run around to cover everyone. The place has a old-ish family friendly feel with great, friendly staff that are on top of everything, just a lack of cutlery and menus that becomes a bottleneck with the service as well. A wait is to be expected if you coming during brunch time for sure. Just one waffle can fill me up, it's something I like to share so everyone can get a taste. I tried a blueberry waffle and the compote was piled on, a generous portion though a little much for me sweetness wise (personally, a quarter of the portion would be enough for me...bf says otherwise). As for the hash brown here, chefs kiss to me. With a good size portion size on the plate with the outside nicely crispy... it's the perfect compliment to any breakfast or any meats. Other foods, everything has always been cooked to temp as requested (over easy eggs and etc)., don't have any sort of complaints here. Final Thoughts: Great place for a filling breakfast/brunch with plentiful portions that are great to share as well. Definitely a to-go brunch place in the area for me. read more

This is the Wrong Restaurant Name - This place is called WAFFLE CAFE Finally went to this restaurant yesterday. I had heard a few people saying it was good so I had to see for myself. I am glad that we visited. Breakfast is my favorite meal and this place did not disappoint. It is a much larger restaurant then what appears from the street view. Our waitress was Kayla. She was great. Funny and attentive. Actually it seemed the entire staff was friendly and helpful- now to the food. Our food was well prepared and come hungry because they give you plenty of food. My wife and I ordered the Denver Omelette. Nice big omelette well made for sure. I ordered the Hash Browns with mine and my wife had their Country Potatoes. She liked hers and I liked mine. Next time I will ask them to be a little crisper, only because it had a nice crunch on the outside and the inside was soft but I like mine a little more cooked - like I said I really like Breakfast. We both ordered a Pancake which was huge and really good. The pancake was the size of a serving plate. (See pictures below). The staff was very nice but the food was not great. The sodium levels were sky-high. My omelet was decent but the meats in it were low grade and salty as hell. My guest had scrambled eggs and they were terrible. What you would expect with one of those cheap hotel breakfasts. How they are rated so high on Google is beyond me. The first half of our meal a father was letting his kid watch something on their Fire at full volume. You could hear it across the restaurant. The staff should have said something. read more

Great place for Breakfast! Decent size parking lot, shared with a drive thru for a mexican restaurant so a little congested in the middle of the lot. We came in on Sunday morning and there was a small wait, about 10 minutes. Lots of tables and lots of people running around, very busy. Large menu with lots of choices, so everyone can find something. We ordered the linguisa with eggs and it was not greasy at all. I ordred the denver omelette and it was fluffy and delicious. So I was born and raised in manteca, but never been here! How crazy is that... finally visiting manteca this holiday and my sister suggested this place instead of ihop or dennys etc. was not disappointed. The staff was very polite, the inside seems like you know that you are gonna get some good home cooking, and the parking is pretty opened. So it's Sunday around 10am and it was already pretty packed but we walked in, put our name down, and was sat in 5mins. We sat in a cute booth, hard tops are spread around the place, bathroom is in the front on the left side. Our waiter was extra understanding, very nice to us, very easy to talk to. We ordered chicken and waffles a side of bacon, country steak, and sausage/ biscuit and gravy. Food was up to par! Definitely a great family breakfast place to go instead of any dennys or ihops... It's a 3 fold menu with so many selections to choose from. Came in today as usual to sit down to eat a waffle. The waiters usually say sit any where but today the waiter walks up and says what can I get you TO GO. I didn't like that. At least ask me for here or to go. I may be black but I'm clean and leave at least a $1 tip. I'm not coming back if I don't recognize the waitresses. All I can say is WOW! Ok it is a little pricey but what you get is overwhelming. You might say it's just breakfast but oh what a breakfast. Old school, popular with the senior set and locals. I have never been presented with so much good food in my life in one meal. I had the sausage patty and eggs over easy with hash browns, and biscuits and gravy. Sausage patty the size of a CD, a huge slab of potatoes, a couple of large biscuits swimming in gravy! The wife had s huge linguisa omelet with a mountain of country potatoes and a pancake the size of my fat head! Really nice server was very friendly and attentive.
