I'm not sure how I feel about this place, but here goes. When you entered, the place is a bit outdated with their decors and seating areas. We got seated on a booth and our server was very nice and welcoming. I ordered chicken fried steak with eggs over easy and hash brown because I have been craving for some good ole chicken friend steak with country gravy. When our order came, I was greeted by 2 big chicken patties slathered with country gravy. Now, it looked as if the patties looked like it was frozen before and just got reheated. It does not looked like the picture they have on their yelp page that other customer's have posted before. It was thin and the gravy made up for it's dryness. I also have the hash browns in which have an after taste. I believe it came from the oil that they cook it on. It tasted like the oil has been used so many times that it has that burnt taste. In all honesty, I finished my food because, first, I was hungry. Second, I am not one to waste food and money so no matter what I will finish that food on my plate. Our server was very nice and took care of us. This place has their usual everyday patrons as some of them are known by their first name. One of the oldest running non chain breakfast restaurants in Manteca. (That's kept the same building) something just radiates nostalgia here for me. Sitting with my great grandma ordering a bacon waffle. Now fast forward I'm bringing my own children here. Prices are very reasonable. Food is as good as it gets for diner style breakfast. Inside is kept clean, it has a large dinning room so everyone has a seat. The ladies are always friendly. I keep coming back. I love this place! My first time here, and I'll be returning. We were greeted the second we walked in, by the hostess, manager, and other servers that passed by. My gf and I sat in a booth. The booth was clean! Usually there's crumbs and soap scum left on the table, but not at our booth! Our server was great! She asked if it was our first time here. I was. She made the experience easy and comfortable. That's one thing I do appreciate about great service, welcoming first timers. Water and Coffee came out quick. So believe what others are saying on here. On the menu they say served with two eggs it's more like three to four eggs. Oh by the way if you're a chicken friend steak fan. It's off the hook. This is one of the best restaurants in Manteca. It's actually called "Waffle Cafe" Went there today with my wife and as usual came away with full stomachs. Kayla our server was terrific and kept our coffee filled without asking. That is one of the things we look at as I grew up in the restaurant business. She was very observent of her customers and made sure that they always had what they asked for quickly. We have been there many times and will continue to make this one of our go tos often. We have been going to waffle Café for six months on Sundays after church. We've always enjoyed our food and our service. Today, however was a different experience. Our food arrived in two shifts 10 minutes apart, was not hot and was incomplete. Our server was new and we don't blame her. However, we felt that because of the very unfortunate experience we should have had some sort of compensation offered to us by the manager.
