Our food was great, service was even better, and loved the formal setting. The restaurant is a more higher end option in Manteca compared to most restaurants in the area. I ordered the filet mignon and enjoyed it. I always order my meat medium rare but my steak looked VERY rare. Most of it was good, but I couldn't finish it as the second half of it seemed raw. My recent visit was mostly enjoyable, music was elegant as so the ambiance, a little gem i hoped to recommend to my team, family and friends, but a significant issue with the billing and staff communication has left me hesitant to return. I ordered a the Rockefeller Oyster as an appetizer, delicious! Also a Caesar salad and requested to add salmon. The waiter did not tell me there was no add-on option and, without informing me of the price beforehand, charged me the full $58 for the Ore King Salmon plate. This was only explained to me after the bill was paid, which felt both surprising and frustrating. While the waiter mentioned speaking to a manager, no solution was provided, and I left feeling that I had paid for a clear miscommunication on staff's part. It's a shame, as the food was great, but this experience makes me question the integrity of the service. I believe this is a critical issue that you should be aware of to prevent it from happening to other customers.. This is why I only chose 3 stars. I'm a little split here. I've been 2 times in the last couple of weeks. The first pretty good and the 2nd not so great. Visit 1: I took my parents and they thoroughly enjoyed it enjoyed their meal. I, for the most part, enjoyed mine as well. My mom got the crabcakes and she loves those. My dad got the surf & turf and he had no regrets about getting it. The wild caught shrimp I thought was just OK. I wasn't a fan of their Asian sauce, or whatever that was, as it had the feel of something store bought. The creamed spinach while delicious and had a great top layer was a bit thin and runny underneath. The lemon tart was delicious. Not overly sweet or too tart either. My mom loved the Affogato and while I enjoyed it too, something was lacking in it. Not sure if they changed it from what it was a few years back. The chocolate martini was very smooth and drinkable but maybe just a tad too sweet. I think next time I'll try the espresso martini instead. The Wellington was a little hard for me to eat. I like a little more crisp to my pastry and the meat itself I thought could have been a tad bit more tender. But Beef Wellington is not a common dish for this area so I can't complain too much. Visit 2: Came after work for 1 specific dish, the pork chop with blackberry port pepper sauce . I had a tough day at work and made last minute reservations for right when I got off. When I arrived I was promptly seated. Before I got a chance to order my server notified me of a few dishes that were out of stock because of the busy weekend. Of course the pork chop, my 1 reason for coming, was sold out (not holding that against them, just bad luck for me but a successful weekend for them). My server recommended the Prime Angus Ribeye, the jalapeño creamed corn and the French onion soup. I don't order French onion soup very often, maybe just a handful of times. Generally the ones I've had have been very cheesy, melty, with a hearty soup base. Theirs was a bit thin for my expectations although the overall flavor was pretty decent. The jalapeño creamed corn I thought something similar. I think it needed to be cooked down a little more to really concentrate the flavors and thicken it up as it too was a bit runny for my expectations. Here's where things get a little skewed and I'm not 100 sure how much I can judge them here. The ribeye was prime angus cooked to medium rare for reference. All things considered it was a bit hard to cut and chew. It was a very poor cut of ribeye in my opinion. Maybe it was luck of the draw, maybe bad purchasing practices I'm not sure. And I say this because when I think of a really good ribeye I think of a good eye to cap ratio. The cap being by far my favorite part. Unfortunately, their ribeye was essentially eye with almost no cap meat. Keeping all that in mind, is my expectation skewed because when I buy steaks I get good caps. When I go to other restaurants I generally get good caps on the ribeyes. And I've had a lot of good purebred/cross wagyu steaks as of late. Are my expectations too high for a ribeye at a place charging $68? I'll leave that up to you. Almost forgot to mention to mention my cocktail, the Revolver. I would definitely order that again. It was smooth but still had some bite to it. Very drinkable for someone who likes orange bitters and bourbon. Service: I can't complain here, everyone is very nice and fairly attentive from my experience. My servers have been so pleasant that I could not say anything bad about them. The ambiance is about what I remember over the years. It's like a step above being what I'd consider dimly lit. And the decor is simple yet classy un my eyes. Were I judging this purely off of the 2nd visit I'd give them a 3 especially for the price. But keeping in mind my parents experience from the first visit and my overall satisfaction being good enough on the 1st visit I am bumping them up to a 4 for now. Woke up and decided today was going to be a Solo Date day. Ended my evening here at Ernie's for my first time, and it did not disappoint. One of the specials for the evening was a burrata with blistered tomatoes. So delicious! I could have actually ordered two of those and been content. But noooooo... I made sure no calories were left behind this evening. The Wellington was perfectly cooked and so full of flavor. Really happy with my choice. The wine reduction was a perfect complement to the Wellington, though the carrots left more to be desired. I paired the Franks Family Zin with my main course, and at the end of the day, this is collectively a meal I'd return for. The only thing I didn't quite care for was the tapenade served with the bread as a starter. There wasn't anything wrong with it, but I could have done without, as it didn't have the flavor punch I prefer in a tapenade. I was really looking forward to taking our out-of-town guests to Ernie's for a nice dinner on Friday, August 22, 2025, but unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. We made reservations for four at 6:30 PM, expecting a warm welcome and a pleasant evening. Instead, when we arrived, we were greeted in a way that felt more like a snub than a welcome, as if we weren't wanted there. Even though we were on time, we were seated right next to the kitchen--a very uncomfortable spot with all the traffic going in and out. What made it worse was that there were three empty booths available. We politely asked several times if we could move, but each time the hostess said no. We waited 15-20 minutes, and no one ever came to claim those booths. Eventually, we decided to leave, and when we told the hostess, she simply shrugged it off, making no effort to accommodate us or even acknowledge how poorly the situation was handled. The whole experience left us feeling disrespected and unwelcome, especially as people of color. If I could give zero stars, I would. Came here for an anniversary and Father's Day dinner. We had "happy anniversary" imprinted on our menu, but did not get complimentary desserts like the couples next to us. Their server celebrated their anniversary and brought over a plate with dessert which had hand written chocolate that said "happy anniversary". We didn't get anything from our waitress, but at least our hostess greeted us. It was somewhat disappointing especially since today was a special occasion and we didn't get to experience what the other couple had on their special day. Other than that - the food tasted amazing and everything was reasonably priced for being a high rated steak house in the area. My favorite dishes were the bacon scallops and the wagyu 6oz steak - both cooked to perfection. The scallops were perfectly seasoned and the wagyu melted in your mouth. Ernie's was a rare find. This quality level of fine dining in Manteca was not expected. Was a bit confused on arrival - a packed parking lot, an adjacent casino with 4 guards out front, and a nondescript door. Once you open the double door, you know you'll be in for a memorable experience. The decor was very well-designed. I was excited to be seated in a booth. (cue Frank Costanza). The complementary bread was served with butter and an olive tapenade with chopped almonds and a hint of lemon. There was something missing with the tapenade. The drinks, Mai Thai and Raspberry Smash, were delicious and mixed well - not too heavy on the alcohol so the flavors of the ingredients weren't masked. The oysters were fresh and the mango salsa was the perfect garnish. I'm not big on raw seafood but these were so good. I wish we ordered a dozen. The Caesar salad had great ingredients. I liked the anchovy, and the crispy prosciutto. It's a common salad with an elevated flavor profile. The Ora' king salmon - sesame pan seared, crab fried rice, roasted carrots, citrus soy glaze, and garlic chili aioli - was a refined dish with every element of the dish complementing each other. It was beautifully plated like yin and yang. The salmon was a generous fillet cooked expertly - a perfect crust and flaky forkfuls. The carrots were slightly sweet and melts in your mouth. We had selected the scallops with almond rice pilaf, caper tapenade, Meyer lemon Bierce blanc. After ordering moments later, we were informed that the sides were replaced with a truffle pasta. We were allowed to change our other but we decided to stick with the scallops since it's one of my fave shellfish. The scallops were divine - the delicate texture was buttery smooth; however, I was disappointed with the pasta. It was mostly butter and some garlic with some shaved truffles. It was pretty basic and did not match the quality of the other menu items - especially when you compared it with the salmon. It was my least favorite part of the meal. Overall, I'm super excited to have found Ernie's - a true fine dining experience. It's a wonderful place to celebrate big events or if you're looking for steak and seafood. It has great ambiance, food, and drinks. There's a small bar area, main dining room, and a more private area for different diners. I am struggling with writing this as I was hoping to have a better experience than we did. We made reservations a few days ahead, the restaurant uses Open Table for reservations. We were going on a Sunday night for my birthday. Parking is tough as they are located in the same building as the casino, so at 5:45 pm on a Sunday there was only 1 space left. This is a small restaurant with booths and some tables. We got a booth and it was very comfortable. They hand you the menu, however the drink list was on an ipad. Unfortunately it was difficult to navigate as they have many, many drink choices so the list on the ipad was overwhelming. Our server arrived, Rosa, and she was very nice. My husband ordered a blackberry margarita and I ordered a cranberry juice. They bring you bread with butter and their homemade tapenade (best flavored item of the night). My husband ordered the scallop appetizer and I ordered the french onion soup. The scallops were delicious, came with carrots and micro greens. My soup had no seasoning and desperatley needed salt. For dinner, my husband ordered the Bison ribs. I ordered the mushroom risotto and we ordered the crab rice as a side dish. The rison was good excpt the sauce on top is pretty sweet. This dish comes with a salad on the plate. The crab rice was kind of dry, but had OK flavor. My risotto was good, had lots of mushroom and it was a large portion. During dinner we ordered a jalapeno margarita and I asked for orange juice. They have a full bar so I assumed they had orange juice. Rosa explained that they fresh squeeze the juice for mixed drinks, but can not fresh squeeze a glass. Why? So I ordered another cranberry juice. It also got busy while we were eating, which also increased the noise level as a table of 7 were placed next to us. Our dinner took about an hour and 15 minutes. Sadly during the last 15 minutes, Rosa never came back to check on us. We were trying to get the check and the rice wrapped to go, so I had to ask another server to help. We have been coming here for over 10 years so obviously we love their food. We've developed a relationship with a couple of the waitresses and it feels nice to be recognized and treated like old friends when we walk in. This past June, since my birthday fell on a weekday we decided to stay local and come to Ernie's. My husband and I were there with our two boys and we ordered our usual, a few appetizers, salmon and steak dishes for us. We understand the food takes a while to come out and we're fine with it. But this particular night it took over an hour for the entree to come out. Once my husbands steak came out he told the waitress it just took too long this time and he lost his appetite. My kids and I had our food and were about to order dessert when the 'manager' came out to the dining area to ask what happened. My husband explained that it took well over an hour for his food to arrive and he lost his appetite. In the middle of the dining room, in front of all the other guests, she started going back and forth with him saying things like, what do you want us to do about it, it always takes a while for our food to come out, it seems like you always have a problem! After about a minute of this and that last comment, I stopped her saying not only is she embarrassing us in front of the whole restaurant, but that last comment is so untrue! How dare you make an accusation like that! Haven been a loyal patron for over ten years, and visiting at least once or twice a month, that's over 100 visits to Ernie's. And there may have been 3/4 times out of those 100 visits where we sent the steak back because it was overcooked/ undercooked. Statistically speaking this is very fair and expected. I don't think this constitutes as "everytime there's a problem." I got up and left with my kids out of sheer embarrassment and horror. My husband paid the bill (including the steak he didn't eat) and let the manager know it was indeed my birthday which she absolutely ruined! The next day we called the restaurant to speak to the owner, which we did. He said he would talk to the manager and get back to us, which he never did. We were loyal customers, spending $400/500 per visit, not to mention how many friends and family we'd dragged from the Bay Area to "our unexpectantly amazing steakhouse in Manteca." It truly saddens me that Ernie's was one of our favorite restaurants and we will no longer be visiting because of this one individuals actions (and the owners lack of action). read more

Came here for my dad's birthday because we wanted to spoil him a little bit. I'm vegan, so I was a little nervous about the menu. When the waiter came by, we mentioned my preferences to her and she told us she would go talk to the chef to see what they could do and they told me they could make me a vegan pasta. They brought all the food out and brought me a big plate of veggie pasta adorned with pretty little edible flowers. My dad and I were the only ones who finished our entire meals! I would say don't let the outside fool you because it's completely different on the inside of the restaurant. Food was overall satisfying. They gave us bread and butter to start with and it came with butter and a house blend which consisted of almond, lemon, avocado and I believe another ingredient. It was different than your usual just bread and butter but I did wish we got more bread because it was a lot of it. We ordered the crostini bruschetta from their specials list to start and it was delicious. For our main course my husband ordered a NY strip with mashed potato on the side and I ordered their burger with fries and Mac n cheese on the side. The NY strip was cooked pretty perfectly and seasoned well. We both thought the NY strip was great and would come back for it again. The burger was okay and a little bit on the drier side but I don't know if that was just because I ordered it well done since I'm pregnant. The Mac n cheese and mashed potato's were also okay. I think the mashed potato's needed a little more salt because it was kind of bland. The pistachio gelato was a wonderful dessert to end the night with because it was nice and creamy and just sweet enough. I would like to try some of their other dessert items the next time. In conclusion we would definitely come back to try the other items on their steak menu. read more

My friends and I wanted to get together after a year of lockdowns to enjoy a nice meal together. One friend recommended Ernies and mentioned everything they tried so far was quite flavorful. We showed up in a party of five and was seated fairly quick with our reservation. I had the USDA prime ribeye, was a little fatty but still pretty flavorful and cooked to perfection. For sides we shared mashed potatoes (buttery), crab fried rice (it's alright), crab asparagus (least favorite), Mac & cheese (sauceless), snap peas (crisp), mushrooms (flavorful), arugula salad, and sautéed shrimps. Had a Moscow mule and ice tea to drink and finished the evening off with cream brûlée for dessert. Interior was decent, staff is very friendly and attentive to detail.
