Ceasar salad with a $58 piece of salmon.
    kelly f.

My recent visit was mostly enjoyable, music was elegant as so the ambiance, a little gem i hoped to recommend to my team, family and friends, but a significant issue with the billing and staff communication has left me hesitant to return. I ordered a the Rockefeller Oyster as an appetizer, delicious! Also a Caesar salad and requested to add salmon. The waiter did not tell me there was no add-on option and, without informing me of the price beforehand, charged me the full $58 for the Ore King Salmon plate. This was only explained to me after the bill was paid, which felt both surprising and frustrating. While the waiter mentioned speaking to a manager, no solution was provided, and I left feeling that I had paid for a clear miscommunication on staff's part. It's a shame, as the food was great, but this experience makes me question the integrity of the service. I believe this is a critical issue that you should be aware of to prevent it from happening to other customers.. This is why I only chose 3 stars. Im not sure as of yet that I will be returning.

I'm a little split here. I've been 2 times in the last couple of weeks. The first pretty good and the 2nd not so great. Visit 1: I took my parents and they thoroughly enjoyed it enjoyed their meal. I, for the most part, enjoyed mine as well. My mom got the crabcakes and she loves those. My dad got the surf & turf and he had no regrets about getting it. The wild caught shrimp I thought was just OK. I wasn't a fan of their Asian sauce, or whatever that was, as it had the feel of something store bought. The creamed spinach while delicious and had a great top layer was a bit thin and runny underneath. The lemon tart was delicious. Not overly sweet or too tart either. My mom loved the Affogato and while I enjoyed it too, something was lacking in it. Not sure if they changed it from what it was a few years back. The chocolate martini was very smooth and drinkable but maybe just a tad too sweet. I think next time I'll try the espresso martini instead. The Wellington was a little hard for me to eat. I like a little more crisp to my pastry and the meat itself I thought could have been a tad bit more tender. But Beef Wellington is not a common dish for this area so I can't complain too much. Visit 2: Came after work for 1 specific dish, the pork chop with blackberry port pepper sauce . I had a tough day at work and made last minute reservations for right when I got off. When I arrived I was promptly seated. Before I got a chance to order my server notified me of a few dishes that were out of stock because of the busy weekend. Of course the pork chop, my 1 reason for coming, was sold out (not holding that against them, just bad luck for me but a successful weekend for them). My server recommended the Prime Angus Ribeye, the jalapeño creamed corn and the French onion soup. I don't order French onion soup very often, maybe just a handful of times. Generally the ones I've had have been very cheesy, melty, with a hearty soup base. Theirs was a bit thin for my expectations although the overall flavor was pretty decent. The jalapeño creamed corn I thought something similar. I think it needed to be cooked down a little more to really concentrate the flavors and thicken it up as it too was a bit runny for my expectations. Here's where things get a little skewed and I'm not 100 sure how much I can judge them here. The ribeye was prime angus cooked to medium rare for reference. All things considered it was a bit hard to cut and chew. It was a very poor cut of ribeye in my opinion. Maybe it was luck of the draw, maybe bad purchasing practices I'm not sure. And I say this because when I think of a really good ribeye I think of a good eye to cap ratio. The cap being by far my favorite part. Unfortunately, their ribeye was essentially eye with almost no cap meat. Keeping all that in mind, is my expectation skewed because when I buy steaks I get good caps. When I go to other restaurants I generally get good caps on the ribeyes. And I've had a lot of good purebred/cross wagyu steaks as of late. Are my expectations too high for a ribeye at a place charging $68? I'll leave that up to you. Almost forgot to mention to mention my cocktail, the Revolver. I would definitely order that again. It was smooth but still had some bite to it. Very drinkable for someone who likes orange bitters and bourbon. Service: I can't complain here, everyone is very nice and fairly attentive from my experience. My servers have been so pleasant that I could not say anything bad about them. The ambiance is about what I remember over the years. It's like a step above being what I'd consider dimly lit. And the decor is simple yet classy un my eyes. Were I judging this purely off of the 2nd visit I'd give them a 3 especially for the price. But keeping in mind my parents experience from the first visit and my overall satisfaction being good enough on the 1st visit I am bumping them up to a 4 for now. I can only hope though that one day they return to the definitive, undoubtedly, undebatably 5/5 restaurant that they once were.

ORA salmon - that crust was magical ‍
    The Bhodhisattva ..

"Finding Nemo... was the best part of lunch ." Let me just say: if you're going to have salmon and an Old Fashioned, there's no better way to do it than under the care of a server named Nemo. Yes, that Nemo -- except instead of forgetting stuff,,,, this Nemo has the memory of 10 elephants - she remembered my old fashioned order and the lady's wine choice ,,,,, we couldn't remember ! From the moment we sat down, Nemo navigated the dining floor with the grace of a Michelin-starred mermaid. We ordered salmon and scallop lunches which felt mildly ironic but also poetically delicious. Perfectly cooked, delicately seasoned -- special shout out to Alberto for the attentive service The Old Fashioned? Bold, smooth, and slightly mysterious --I would've ordered a second, but I feared I'd start quoting Hemingway and it was just lurch time Service: sharp. Ambiance: cozy yet classy. Food: worth the moral dilemma of eating fish served by a gal named after one.... Hope Nemo forgives us Would we go back? Duh! Our second time after we found out they are open for lunch on Fridays , Especially if Nemo's still swimming around the floor making waves. See ya soon for Friday lunch

Buratta and blistered tomatoes from the evening specials (this was very good!)
    Stevi B.

Woke up and decided today was going to be a Solo Date day. Ended my evening here at Ernie's for my first time, and it did not disappoint. One of the specials for the evening was a burrata with blistered tomatoes. So delicious! I could have actually ordered two of those and been content. But noooooo... I made sure no calories were left behind this evening. The Wellington was perfectly cooked and so full of flavor. Really happy with my choice. The wine reduction was a perfect complement to the Wellington, though the carrots left more to be desired. I paired the Franks Family Zin with my main course, and at the end of the day, this is collectively a meal I'd return for. The only thing I didn't quite care for was the tapenade served with the bread as a starter. There wasn't anything wrong with it, but I could have done without, as it didn't have the flavor punch I prefer in a tapenade. Yarixa (99.9% sure I'm butchering the spelling of her name) was a pleasure to talk to throughout my dinner at the bar area. She made some great recommendations and was very helpful. It was a slow, early Sunday evening, so nice and quiet yet hospitable and social in house. A very nice first experience and I look forward to trying other menu items.

Such a cute spot here in manteca. Our waiter Paul was great explained the whole menu to us, kept checking our table. Other staff would also clear the table if they saw an empty plate. Drinks were good! Food was great. The Beef Tartare was delicious! I ordered the Salmon with fried rice & the salmon was cooked to perfection. Definitely coming here again.

Very surprised about this place! I feel like I'm not in Manteca At first we thought the restaurant is inside the casino so we were about to drive off until we saw their front door. We decided to walk in and we were greeted and seated right away, it was a Wednesday night so it wasn't too busy plus it was almost closing when we walked in The place is very clean, intimate, cozy and beautiful The food was very good and good serving size. I like that they serve warm bread too. They have good wine selection. Our Server was great and very attentive. All the staff are really friendly. Will definitely come back to hang out at the bar

    Mushroom risotto and Brussels sprouts
    Morgan W.

Located next to a scary casino place that used to be the theater I went to as a kid, Ernie's is my go-to when treating family in the valley to a special occasion. The service is always on point, the wine selection leans local, and it's cute and dressy inside. I've ordered pastas and risottos and they've all been great, and my dining companions have enjoyed the steak. The mushroom risotto in particular was delicious and complex, and I'm not used to portion sizes that generous (with equally generous wine pours!).

Came here for an anniversary and Father's Day dinner. We had "happy anniversary" imprinted on our menu, but did not get complimentary desserts like the couples next to us. Their server celebrated their anniversary and brought over a plate with dessert which had hand written chocolate that said "happy anniversary". We didn't get anything from our waitress, but at least our hostess greeted us. It was somewhat disappointing especially since today was a special occasion and we didn't get to experience what the other couple had on their special day. Other than that - the food tasted amazing and everything was reasonably priced for being a high rated steak house in the area. My favorite dishes were the bacon scallops and the wagyu 6oz steak - both cooked to perfection. The scallops were perfectly seasoned and the wagyu melted in your mouth. One of the best I've had for sure and I've been to quite of few high end steak houses. The ambiance was romantic, music was playing gently in the background and the lighting was dimmed. They had fresh flower on every table and a candle was lit.

Hour of arrival was around 5pm. We were greeted by Natalie and welcome in. We sat at the bar. Shortly after we were greeted by Caroline. We spoke about what brought us here. I explained to her i saw thier Yelp page and a pictures of a pizza caught my eye. She explains in detail of what she is doing with this style of pizza and the ingredients she uses. We were sold. We ordered 3 new haven style pizza or apizza as advertised. We ordered the Mozz , Margherita and one not on the menu Pepperoni hot honey apizza. This is the order she suggested we have them and we complied. I'm no expert of new haven style pizza but I'll watched enough Dave Portnoy to maybe not necessarily be a judge but to recognize what makes a apizza. Let me start by saying these pizzas were delicious. As for the characteristics of a new haven there were some. I'll let you be the judge by the picture or your own experience dinning here. We tried all 3 as they were coming out the oven and also tried them with Caroline customizations. In short they elevated the apizza. She also mentioned she puts some parmigiano reggiano on her pizza and has a big wheel of it in the back which I didn't get the chance to see and take a picture. None the less another thing to like about her pizza.. Natalie crafted some fine spirits for us to accompany our pizzas although I wish they were a bit more unbalanced in a good way but then again the are mixed drink. The ambiance was great with Contemporary jazz playing. I like jazz so it was delightful. If you are at the bar you may need to talk a little louder to your friend. 3 pizzas 5 mixed drinks plus tip $190. I will certainly be back with my wife I think she will like the Alfredo pasta. Caroline signature dish. Heavy cream she says.

The sandwich was thick with the juiciest chicken. I loved the garlic fries. They were super garlicky with a crispy cheese on top. The fries are thin and crinkle cut. They were the perfect mix of crispy yet juicy. One thing to note, if you order for pickup, make sure to arrive promptly because the food can get pretty soggy otherwise. The side sauce was pretty good too. I wish there was an online substitution option though because I'd prefer something like ranch instead. This spot's prices are a touch higher compared to restaurants in the area but the quality and portions really justify it. The employees are incredibly kind. When I stopped by to pickup my order, there was an employee cleaning the outside patio who immediately stopped what she was doing to open the door for me, went inside and washed her hands before even handing me the bag. The small details like this really make the experience so much better. It is especially reassuring to see how sanitary they are here too.
