First time diners. Celebrating a milestone birthday and noted 3 of the other 6 parties likewise celebrating. The friendly hostess helped opening the front door so my husband could wheel me though the barrier-free entrance. "Happy Birthday, please come with me, we have your table all ready." The dining room featured primarily black walls, large black and white checkerboard tiles and suitable Hollywood themed posters and paintings from the 20's to 40's. Dim lighting with a few spotlit areas here and there. Sturdy chairs, booth and banquette seating in the medium dining room. Both our server and water staff were excellent at decribing, serving and anticipating besides dealing with two very large parties in the room. Soft music, flowers on the table and old movies led to the vibe which was hushed, romantic and unhurried. We started with the Lamb Lollipops to share. I requested the house-made chimichurri sauce on the side. We divided the 3 average sized riblets as fairly as possible. Enjoyed the strong garlic pepper seasoning and the rare, somewhat fatty meat. We ordered just ice water the better to concentrate on the chef's creations. Next up, the 14 ounce grilled ribeye for my husband. Tender, juicy, rare as ordered. I have a pet peeve about ribeyes stripped of their gloriously tender caps. Missing in action, but the carving board plank was covered with steamed broccolini and 7 little roasted potatoes blanketed in minced garlic. Luckily we adore garlic. My filet was listed as 7 ounces but judging by the dozens of these we have shipped to ourselves yearly, I can honestly say more like 5 ounces. Ordered rare it came between medium and medium rare in the very center. Nevertheless it was tender and extra flavorful with the added wine-reduction. It arrived nestled on a vast cloud of homemade mashed potatoes, tasting of cream and butter. 7 beautifully cooked asparagus provided a raft for the beef, proving the cook staff is rerspectful of their veggies. Being the birthday girl I ordered a broiled Maine lobster tail on the side. Yelp and FL photos had these looking so plump and promising. Normally I have DH extricate them from their shells but turns out this one was just balanced on the tippy tops of the tail plates. Had to be around 4 ounces but cooked just right, tasting a bit sweet as good lobster should. Staff was happy to provide cardboard containers for the lamb bones , tasty potatoes and leftover broccolini which our dogs would enjoy later. I'd saved most of my filet in slices separately, to eat for a fantastic midnight snack. We were about to leave when Ben popped up saying he had a special treat for my celebration. Expecting a scoop of ice cream or cake pops, very pleasantly surprised with a gorgeous slice of creme brulee cheesecake, one of their nicest desserts. Being together 35 years means you share the dessert and it was close to Heaven, Summing up, excellent ambiance, impeccable service with added friendliness and not a whiff of snooty airs. Very pleasant ambiance, temperature. The ribeye was the best deal. A word of warning re that great chimichurri sauce, it will stick to every nook and cranny of your teeth, just so you know! Prices a bit steep and definitely missing sides like sauteed mushrooms or that incredible pizza. Chicken and pasta lovers can easily spend half what we did. Welcoming in the front, looks super cool but could use real plants instead of fake for ambiance and considering the price point. There's low maintenance plants out there that would thrive! Prime time rush on Saturday there was fast service, but being seated at the bar the 2 bartenders are so slammed there's hardly time for them to actually follow up/ check on their patrons at the bar top. Over priced Caesar salad for a few leaves of lettuce and store bought croutons. Bolognese pasta was really delicious! I might go back. Also another tip for the owner, don't have people using aerosol glass cleaner to clean the bar top while people are eating! I got multiple whiffs of spray in my face and food while was really off putting. Use a wet towel and dry towel, sanitizer, simple as that. It's dulling the marble out and tacky when people are eating. read more

Exquisite! This place is not only finely detailed but the food is good. You get a wonderful dining experience for a fair price. The decor gives Emerald City and Ruby red slipper vibes with a dash of old Hollywood. They do have gluten free options and the staff is cautious. This was my first time at the Falcon's Lair. A friend and I had planned a long awaited "Girls' Night" and decided to take the drive out to Ripon. I made a reservation on Yelp - check-in was smooth and we were seated right away. We were a bit surprised to be seated in the lounge area. The chairs were comfy, but the table was small and low (the height of a mini-coffee table) which would be fine for drinks and appetizers, but not for dinner. Having been at this location when it was the Canal Street Grille, the transformation was amazing. The interior of the restaurant has undergone an incredible transformation. The color scheme of emerald green, gold, black, and white lends is classy and glamorous with an old-school Hollywood speakeasy kind of vibe. The waitresses wear beautiful green flapper-style dresses that embodies the theme. You forget that you're in Ripon! My friend and I both started off with cocktails (a vodka soda and tequila soda) and ordered the Ahi Poke Nachos and a 1/2 dozen oysters on the half shell. A 2nd small round table was brought out to hold our appetizers and drinks. Both appetizers were brought out beautifully presented - the nachos had a red rose bloom at the top and the oysters were in a lovely silver shell-shaped platter. For dinner, we both ordered the lasagna. The busboy had to bring out another small round table to hold our main courses. After all of the appetizers and catch-up conversation, we each had a few bites and then had our food packed up to take home. My lasagna seemed a little undercooked and a bit salty, but I was just happy to be there and didn't mind. The service started off great and our waitress was friendly and attentive. After the 1st 20 minutes after taking our drink and appetizer orders, we never saw her again and the food runners/servers took care of us for the rest of the night. They checked on us on regularly, refilled our waters, brought out a second round of cocktails, and our dinner. We appreciated the great service! Our waitress came by to drop off our check, but didn't offer dessert. It felt like she was in a rush to go home and came by 3 times to check the credit card bill folder to see if we were ready to pay. We weren't ignoring her, but just engrossed in conversation, so that was kind of a bummer. I would definitely come back again to try the other appetizers and items on the menu. We were ready to spend money here and definitely did! Our bill came to $230 with tip for 2 people, 2 appetizers, dinner and 4 drinks - pricey, but I'd be willing to give this place another chance to see if my experience would be different. read more

My wife and I came to Falcons Lair the day before Valentine's Day to beat the rush, and it was the perfect date night spot. We made our reservation a week or two in advance and had zero issues getting accommodated. They had some awesome Valentine's specialty drinks. I went with the "Cupid's Dragon Kiss," and my wife ordered the Espresso Martini, then followed it up with a tequila mule that definitely packed a punch!! We started with the poke nachos, and man you get such a huge portion and full of flavor. You definitely get your money's worth. For dinner, my wife had the salmon and I treated myself to the massive ribeye with shrimp and mashed potatoes (see photo). The steak was cooked to perfection, juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. Easily one of the better ribeyes I've had. No room for dessert after that! The old Hollywood vibe really sets this place apart. The dark ambiance with classic silent films playing in the background (we caught snippets of The Wizard of Oz) made the whole night feel romantic and unique. Even though it was busy, the staff stayed attentive, kept the drinks flowing, and maintained a great attitude all night. From start to finish, it was a great experience. The atmosphere, paired with classic tunes, really sets the tone for a unique dining experience. I started with the smoked Old Fashioned -- great presentation and a solid cocktail overall. We began our meal with the focaccia bread, served with a balsamic, oil, and garlic dipping sauce. Fantastic flavors. Next, we shared the chicken tortilla soup, which was packed with flavor and perfectly seasoned. For my main course, I ordered the 14 oz ribeye, requested medium rare, though it came out medium. Regardless, it was still tender and flavorful. On the side, I had loaded mashed potatoes and balsamic-glazed Brussels sprouts -- both were delicious. My wife ordered the beef short ribs, which came with creamy polenta -- another great dish. For dessert, we initially skipped the ice cream listed on the menu, but our server mentioned a few specials: peach cobbler and banana bread pudding. Both came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top and were absolutely amazing. Everything we had was delicious. Given how much we ordered, I expected the bill to be on the higher side. First time trying out Falcons Lair last night, we didn't have a reservation but thankfully got a table after a short wait. The vibe as soon as you walk in is upscale goth. It's different than any other restaurant I've been too, i love it! Our waitress for the evening was Lidia, she was amazing & very attentive. My husband got a Tito's and tonic, i tried out their lemon drop, both were so refreshing. Next we got ahi poke nachos and they are just as delicious as they are beautiful. I'm a saucy gal, i think it could have used a little bit more sauce but it was still great. For dinner we split the New York steak with fries. It's called something cool but i can't remember the name. Steak was perfect. I will say we both thought the fries could have been cooked a bit longer, it was giving freezer fries :/. The star of the whole meal was the Brussel sprouts we got on the side. They were glazed and DELICIOUS. I'd come back just to have those sprouts. We will def be back, 5/5 read more

Found this place online and I knew the vibe was going to be it! We made reservations for the dining side and then asked for a table in the lounge after we finished our food. You can order and eat in the lounge but the tables are smaller and you would probably get food on your clothes trying to eat there. We were scared that we weren't going to enjoy the food, like most places they look fancy and food sucks. This was NOT the case. I felt like we ordered half the menu. I tried to pick apart each dish but I couldnt find anything to complain about. The pizza here is way better than gold dust pizza parlor. Although same owners. I was told their ovens are better. I highly recommend the pizza. But dont get too full because you will want the 14oz rib eye. It was exceptional. Cooked to perfection medium plus, just enough charge on the outside and juices on the inside. Soft to the teeth and a bomb in your mouth of flavor. We also got a burger, asparagus. Mashed potatoes, mac n cheese, pasta dish and a NY steak. Again, cant complain. To top it off, service was exceptional. You will her checked on left and right by not just your server but multiple people. Service did NOT lack. Honestly more places should do it just like this. Upon finishing we went to the lounge for some drinks. The building is just beautiful inside every detail was noticed down to the exit sign that had a gold frame around it. Not an inch went untouched here. The bathrooms had beautiful touches of gold. The entry was beautiful, the music in both rooms were such a good choice. Oldies in the restaurant, jazz in the lounge. Had an amazing experience at Falcon's Lair on May 9th celebrating my wife's birthday with a party of 15, and I have to give a HUGE shoutout to our waitress, Katie. Her customer service skills were absolutely superior from start to finish. Handling a group that size is not easy, but she moved effortlessly the entire night and never once seemed overwhelmed. Katie was personable, upbeat, attentive, and had an incredible personality that made the whole experience even better. She went above and beyond to make sure everyone was taken care of, drinks stayed full, orders were right, and the atmosphere stayed fun and relaxed. You can tell she genuinely cares about her customers and takes pride in what she does. This was my third or fourth visit here, and all of the waitresses have always been awesome, but this was my first experience with Katie--and in my opinion, she is the gold standard of customer service. She turned a good dinner into a memorable experience. If you visit Falcon's Lair, I highly recommend asking for Katie. She's the kind of employee every restaurant wishes they had! read more

It is the kind of place that works just as well for a date night as it does for a casual evening with friends. It definitely has a speakeasy feel. If I had one small critique, it can get a little nippy in the lounge, but that is a minor detail in an otherwise very enjoyable experience. Some people prefer it a little nippy. Overall, I would give Falcon's Lair 4 stars. In my opinion, 5 stars means everything is flawless. That said, Lydia absolutely earned 5 stars for her service and played a big role in making the night memorable.
