Got yet a few WaBa bowls where the chicken and beef did the disappearing act! I have always been able to divide my bowl in half with equal amounts of the chicken, beef and vegetables for a second meal. Not so this time!! To have a balanced meal, the chicken and meat portion was so little that it was only enough for half the rice. Otherwise it would have been more of a rice meal. Furthermore, there was no cabbage - just broccoli and carrots Additionally, Not sure if anyone of you have noticed that the pickled jalapeños are often times mixed with the pickled carrots. When all the carrots are left behind, and only the jalapeños have been selected, a prudent owner would perhaps get the picture! Perhaps the jalapeños are a better hit with customers? Each time, I have to fish for the jalapeños trying to avoid the carrots. I am sure some prefer just the carrots or both. Why not segregate them? I am returning to the Chicken Bowl, located on Los Angeles Ave. Even Panda Express has a teriyaki chicken bowl with so much more chicken then this place! So what that they don't have the beef- at least I will get my money's worth. Lastly, every time I have been there, there's never the same person taking your order. Husband and I got dinner tonight here and this is our third time to this location and we have always have an issue but come back cuz I love the tofu bowl! First issue I got brown avocado and since I paid for it not happy. Second issue one bowl had burned tofu almost unedible but I drowned it in the yummy sauce and finally I always forget but they never cook the veggies! They seem warmed but raw every time! The food is okay here but the service and management are not so good. I got a text from the Northridge location today saying the $5 special is on it's last day today and to come get it. When I called to the Simi location, it took two calls to get picked up after it rang off the hook for approx 30 rings. When I asked about the $5 special being available the girl on the line said "yeah" then "we just ended that". I had to ask again to clarify because she sounded unsure. She then said "we don't have it anymore" and nothing else. I didn't order and ended the call. I went in person and ordered full price. They screwed one of the orders up as usual and I had them remake it. When I asked the manager to remake the other one so it would still be hot he refused. Meh. Tried this place for the first time last night on the recommendation of my husband who swears the food is good at WaBa Grill. Ok fine...I'll try it. I looked on their website at the menu and the food looked good in the pictures. So my husband ordered me a steak bowl and he ordered a shrimp bowl. Now, let me just explain that my husband has this problem where he doesn't check his food before he leaves with it, which always causes a problem. He got home with dinner and realized that they didn't give him shrimp, but what looked like salmon instead. His fault for not checking. BUT, when he tried the fish, he said it was absolutely awful. His exact quote: "this isn't even salmon. It's some kind of weird fish patty that tastes like salmon mixed with something else. It's gross." But hey, at least our dog enjoyed it. My steak bowl was underwhelming. The steak was fatty and chewy and just not very good at all. Needless to say, my husband felt bad for suggesting WaBa Grill and I highly doubt we will go back for another meal there. read more

This is my worst experience at a WaBa Grill. It was my first time taking my family to this location and we had the worst customer service. We went around 3PM on a Sunday and the location only had one person waiting for their order. We went to the counter greeted the young lady, which she didn't even bother saying 'hello' back. We proceeded with the order. Order was placed and we sat down and waited. Before the order was ready I went to the condiment area and started getting our cutlery, onions, and soy sauce. Order was ready and my husband walked back to the table and I realized I forgot lemons. What's a WaBa bowl without lemons? So, I asked the employee if there were anymore lemons and she said yeah, and then proceeded to clean 'ALL' the tables in the dinning area. So, I'm standing by the condiment area since my foods already at the table and my family is already eating. A customer walks in to order and she walks back behind the counter and I'm thinking great the lemons are going to be put out but NOPE. She took off her gloves and went to the register to take the order, I asked her can I get some lemons and she rolled her eyes. I said my foods already out and she upsettingly walked to the back and grabbed the lemons and cut them and put them in a container and just tossed the try towards me where the container would go. It was clear she was upset. I was like thanks and asked her for her name and she said 'Lydia'. Now for all I know it could've been a fake name since the name on the receipt read 'Rhey L'. In any case if this employee didn't want to cut lemons nor just be pleasant then she should get another job where she doesn't have to deal with customers. So I came here about 3x, parking is hard to come by at times. The spots are really narrow. Waba inside is very nice inside and clean. The condiments is always full, bathrooms are clean. The food is good and healthy. Customer service I had is always good, they are nice and quick with taking out the orders. It can be a little expensive. It fills you up, they bowls you can order from . Also other items, I usually go with the teriyaki chicken bowl with veggies and brown rice it is really delicious . I have no complaints. The condiments on the side they have waba sauce like teriyaki sauce, sarachi sauce, soy sauce, and green onions. Also for yelpers if you check in you get a free drink with a chicken bowl . I've been to one of thier other locations and thier food was great ! They recently opened one about 5 minutes from my house and I decided to take my family out for lunch there. They absolutely loved it ! I got the chicken bowl with brown rice and my family all got a chicken and steak plate with white rice. The food is delicious and thier hot sauce is one I have an obsession over. The extra teriyaki sauce is also a big plus! The staff was great. There were two girls in the front and a guy in the back and they were all very kind. We happened to be the only ones in the restaurant at that time and the guy was telling a funny life story and we were all able to enjoy a moment of laughter with him. The store is fairly remodeled and very clean with an almost new vibe. There's is plenty of parking so that's not at all an issue. I definitely have been and will continue to be back. read more

Stopped by the Simi Valley Waba Grill this past week to pick up a chicken bowl and take it to work for dinner. I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed the chicken and brown rice bowl. I know it is pretty basic having chicken and rice, but the chicken here was really great and fresh tasting! I have now eaten at Simi Valley's Waba Grill four times and have observed that the food quality has steadily gotten worse. I have tried different items each time. Yesterday was my latest experience and it was terrible. It was around 6PM and I had one of Waba's "dinner plates" spending just over $9. The rice was dry and stale as though it was re-cooked leftovers from the day before. The chicken was also dried out and flavorless - its texture was like it was leftover from the previous week. Even the orange half that accompanied the meal looked dehydrated as though left unprotected in a refrigerator for several days. Overall, it was a very disappointing meal. I don't think the owner(s) have the experience or the food prep talent that is needed. My recommendation is that you eat elsewhere. read more

The only thing worth ordering at Waba Grill is their chicken. The beef is too "stringy" and their avocado isn't even avocado. The first time I ordered avocado, they forgot it, the second time I ordered it, I checked before I left and they forgot it again and had to remind them that I ordered avocado. When I tried to order the meal, the girl rang me up for $7.50 and not the advertised price (The $7.50 did not even factor in the soda). I just went to WaBa grill . I ordered the chicken and beef with brown rice, salad and streamed veggies. The food was fresh and the portion enough for lunch and some left overs for later! The chicken and beef was perfect the brown rice also. the salad was fresh and I really liked the dressing. The veggies where streamed . The drink was included in the price which was nice . I'll start with the positive. The facility appeared to be very clean. I was told up front that they only had brown rice and that white rice would not be an option as they had run out. The young lady who took my order had a smile on her face and spoke clearly and politely. The food is ok. I would eat it again. I ordered a half and half bowl (meat only, no veggies) and a half and half plate. I was charged for a half and half bowl with veggies (more expensive than without veggies) and charged correctly for the other meal. I caught the mistake as they were packing my order. They corrected it on the line, packed my food to go, and the young lady handed me my order. She did not offer to reimburse me the difference between the two meals. I had to ask her to do that. I understand that mistakes can be made, but to try and send me on my way without correcting the price difference is reprehensible. Go for quick food, but take care to watch that you get what you ordered and you are charged accordingly. read more

I like their food. This rating is for customer service. I eat here frequently, maybe a few times a month. The last few times, the cashier's customer service has been horrible. No greeting at arrival, no eye contact, no smile, no thank you. He acts as if customers are a bother. In fact a few times when I've walked in, he was busy and didn't even acknowledge me for a while. Also, he calls out order and doesn't even wait for you to get to the counter, he just walks away, again no thank you or have a good day or eye contact. SUPER annoying, get another job dude, one with no customer contact. If he's there next time, I will probably walk out. WaBa, just a suggestion, hire somebody that smiles and like to take orders.
