I have been here a few times before with my wife and friends. We decided to visit again as we heard they were not closing to a lease agreement. Be prepared it is not the same as the past. Everyone must order AYCE at the table if 1 person wants it. This is a new change. No free refills unless you get AYCE, so water it is. Price went up but I get it because prices for everything has gone up. So the friends decided to do the one bowl dinner. Wife and I got the orange chicken, fried rice, chow mein, and spring rolls. We are still waiting g and we placed our order over 40 minutes ago. The place is not busy, only one other table when we ordered so it's not like it is super busy. After this I do not think we will ever come back. I truly hope that the new changes will not deter any future business. As I was typing this one item ordered came out, the fried rice, no rolls, chicken or noodles. Sad thing is our friends rolls came out when they ordered it but ours didn't....... Ugh. Best of luck. We asked for the status of the orange chicken, 10 minutes later guy came back out for our friends Togo fried rice and asked again where's the orange chicken and he stated we are making it now! Ugh. This food nourishes our quads immensely. It is possible that ~30% of my body's lean muscle mass is compromised of beef from Family Mongolian BBQ. How would I describe the chefs? For Mozart, his instrument was the pen. For Michelangelo it was the chisel, for the Great Zosimo and Romeo... IT IS THE WOODEN COOKING STICKS. Every mountain of meat I've brought to them has been cooked superbly... it makes me emotional just to think about it. How would I describe the service? I came here in the midafternoon. It was completely empty. It was a large and comfortable dining room. The server, was helpful. I chose, instead of getting the all you can eat option, I ordered ala cart. I got the chicken with mixed veggies, fried rice, hot and sour soup and an iced tea. The soup came out first. It was really, really good hot and sour. The flavors were balanced and you could tell that someone put care into the preparation. Note that they only serve a 2 person portion, so I had to take some home. The the fried rice and the chicken/veggies came. Also really tasty. The chicken was cooked perfectly. Went around 3pm on Friday. There was only one other person but we came at good time as at about 4 more people showed up. The place didn't smell like a restaurant. Didn't smell like food. It had an interesting smell that want good or cleaning products. The food was pretty good. We got to pick all the ingredients from the meat, veggies, and sauces. Love this place. This is my fifth visit. No more free egg rolls. Just soup. You can get the pocket bread for $1+. Food still taste great. Service is always friendly and quick. The only thing that I don't like is the garlic. Basically, just water. Maybe have to come early so it's new container full with chopped garlic. I always come around 2. So it's only water. Previously, we have really enjoyed this restaurant - the food quality is always fresh and delicious. Unfortunately, this last time has really put a damper on our feelings on this place. While the food was still very good they had one poor teenager being the server and bus boy for the whole busy dining room. He was flustered and overwhelmed, didn't write down our orders, forgot several things (including to put in a dish) and was unfortunately not very attentive. It took an hour for our all ordered food to come out (it came in waves and the first dish took nearly 45mins to come out), and we had to ask for it multiple times. It's very disappointing to see them raise their prices, but otherwise diminish. I know some of my party will not be returning. I hate to say that since I do enjoy their food, or maybe will just come for the Mongolian BBQ. Please note that if 1 person in your party wants to do All-You-Can-Eat everyone in the group must, which we found to be problematic since only 1 person in our group wanted to do that. read more

They have great options at the veggie bar and the meat is great quality I think the big difference is, these guy know how to cook Mongolian bbq! My family and some of our friends have been here numerous times and we're always satisfied with the quality of the food. There's something about jamming as much meat and vegetables as possible into one (or two) bowls and guessing which combination of sauces and oils will be the most satisfying. Frankly, you can follow their suggestions, but I usually wing it; the only problem being I can't for the life of me recall what I did the last time we were there. Regardless, I've never had a bad meal there. In addition to the Mongolian BBQ, there's a reasonably extensive menu of Chinese dishes, many of which I've tried. They're not AYCE like the BBQ line is, but the portions are plentiful and most everything is delicious. It's quick grill cooking where the raw ingredients are stir fried.  Buffet line to get frozen shrimp, squid, lamb, pork, beef, chicken. Plethora of veggies, sauces, chow mein noodles, even canned  pineapple chunks to put in a bowl to take up to the counter where the grill man cooks your food in under 3 minutes. It's here when you can ask for steamed rice.  Complimentary egg flower soup & fried veggie egg roll. Huge space with plenty of tables. About $20 for all you can eat which is a good deal now a days after one year of high inflation. My family loved this place! We've been going to a Mongolian BBQ in Camarillo for years, but the cleanliness has been going downhill. Each time we go the place gets dirtier and dirtier. We had to stop going. We're so glad to have found Family Mongolian! A neighbor picked up my former Chinese favorite for me, and texted a few times to let me know that the order was not quite ready. The egg foo yung arrived drenched in a sweet and sour sauce (emphasis on the sour with a burn that seemed like chili oil) instead of the brown sauce I received on previous orders. Very disappointed. If you're ordering from the Chinese menu, suggest you double-check before carrying your order home. On the up-side, portion sizes are good and usually last 2 meals for me. The rice was good. My daughter and I came here today for lunch. She suggested it when we were trying to decide where to eat. I used to go to a Mongolian BBQ place in Claremont when I was a kid and thought I would give this a try. Overall, the food was pretty good. You get a bowl, choose your meat, add some veggies and other toppings, and choose your sauce. They also have noodles that you can add to your bowl as well. Then they cook it up and add a scoop of rice on the side. The young man that was the waiter was nice. While we picked our food out, he asked for our drink order. After our food was cooked, he had picked a booth for us and our drinks were there waiting for us. They also brought us one mini egg roll each and a cup of egg drop soup. The egg roll was good, very crispy. The soup was okay. It wasn't very hot and a little too gelatinous for my taste, but it was good enough. The restaurant seemed a little rundown and the tables/booths looked like they needed another wipe down. After we sat down, we never saw anyone again until we were ready to leave and pay at the front. Overall, the food tasted great and the topping choices were good. I will definitely be back to lunch here again. It is also good to support our local Simi Valley businesses. read more
