I used to be a huge fan of Copper Hill BBQ, and a big reason why was their Takeout Family Specials, especially the tri-tip deal. It felt like one of the last genuinely good family takeout values around. Sadly, that seems to be over. In a time when prices are climbing everywhere, this was the kind of special that kept us coming back. We came here over the weekend on our way to LA after seeing the poppies. We found out about this place via Yelp. It's highly rated so, why not give it a try? It did not disappoint! I ordered a bowl with brisket, rice and toppings and it was made fresh! The place was small but it was clean and well maintained. I love that the utensils and everything I need to eat are all held in a little cubby on our table. This place is very popular and for good reason. I've been trying to eat here for some time and every time I've shown up, it was very crowded and there was no place to sit down, so I left. This time I showed up at an off hour and boy was it great! I ordered the turkey meatball sub. It was a very large delicious sandwich. It came with a choice of one side order. Checked out Copper Hill BBQ today for lunch. Ordered the Tri-tip meal and the two meat combo me, without-tip and Andouille sausage. Tri-tip had a ton of flavor and tender. Ehhhhh. If I was rating this based on being barbecue I'd give it 3 stars. My husband and I have been wanting to try this for a while since the reviews are so good. We went without our kids which already puts us at an advantage since we were able to eat peacefully. :) We ordered the turkey, tri tip, Mediterranean salad, baked beans, banana pudding, and garlic toast. Everything tasted clean and as though it was made with care. But it wasn't slap you mama good. Like if I went to an American dinner and this was served I'd say, ok that was decent. But there was not any of the grimy down home taste that we like when eating bbq. It certainly wasn't bad, it just didn't scratch the bbq itch if that makes sense. He did really like the banana pudding though. It's more light and fluffy with real bananas in it. He said that's a sign that they make it fresh because the bananas weren't browned. The service was great though. In a time when restaurants are cutting back on staff and having one person take orders and cook, it was great to see that they weren't trying go cut corners and were fully staffed. They checked in with us and made sure that we had what we needed. That bumped them up by half a star or so. It was my first time at this location and as soon as I walked i was greeted friendlyby the staff. Even though i looked up the menu online but seeing in it person they really have a lot choose from. After a bit of debating i decided to with the staff members recommendation which was their $10 dollar lunch special which came with a with a soup, salad and half a sandwich. For soup I chose their signature one. It came with chicken, cheese and tortilla chips. I wasn't familiar, nor could I recall having a soup like this and after having it the flavor was pretty tasty. If you are able to get a scoop with a little bit of everything in it they harmonize really well with each other. Next is the salad and I chose the house salad, but with no dressing because I they didn't have my favorite one. Still even out dressing my salad was pretty good. Each bite tasted fresh, cool and crisp making it much more enjoyable and refreshing despite not having dressing to it. Lastly the turkey sandwich. It came with turkey, tomatoes, onions and their sauce. I am not a fan of onions but I want to give an honest review so I had the sandwich as is from what was shown on the menu. Despite having the onions on it most say the sandwich was delicious. The ingredients balanced it each other out and the sauce had a light, more like a soft kick to it that you wouldn't feel unless you took few bites consecutively. I learned the sauce had some green sauce so that would explain the kick to it but sadly I could not learn what else it was made with but it wouldn't change the fact that I really enjoyed my sandwich. We came here on a friday night and got here at the right time before they got busy. We ordered the 3 meat combo which came with 1 side order. For the meat, we got the brisket, tri tip and pulled pork. For our side order, we opt for the mac and cheese. We also added the street corn. So here's the verdict: the meat are all tender and not dry. They were cooked to perfection. We added a lot of bbq sauce which made it even better. The Mac and cheese seemed to be home made and not like the one from the box. It was very cheesy which he is how he liked it. The street corn was very good as well. The brisket was a tad salty and my coworker let me try the trip tip and that was a tiny salty too. We think that might have been because it took on extra salt sitting in the juices in the containers on the transport back to the office. As I stated before, extremely friendly attentive servers; they must have checked in on us at least a half dozen times after receiving our food. And we're talking 3 or 4 different individuals! But otherwise we were not wowed by Copper Hill Barbecue I'm very sorry to say. On first entering and for sometime later, the room temperature can only be described as muggy. Somewhat better about 30 minutes later. The food was hit or miss: Brisket 3/5 Tri Tip 3/5 Mac & Cheese 2/5 Baked Beans 3/5 Classic Coleslaw 3/5 Mashed Potatoes 3/5 Texas Toast 3/5 We took the leftovers home, nearly all of our Mac & Cheese which my wife will doctor up later. Went here for the 1st time on Friday night after trying their BBQ salad at a Christmas party and loving it while also hearing good things about this place. So we finally made our way there and were pleasantly surprised! Along with the awesome staff and service, the food was delicious. I've had Copper Hill BBQ on a few occasions for takeout, but for some reason I forgot how delicious it was until a recent visit. It's a fast casual type setting where you order at the counter and then find a seat. Indoor and outdoor seating available. The meats: the brisket is the way to go. It is flavorful and so tender and had the perfect little fat cap to it. I'm also a fan of the tri tip and chicken, which are both less fatty (obviously), but still delicious. The sides: We tried the street corn salad and I was wow-ed at how good it was. The mashed potatoes were solid. The Texas toast was full of garlic and butter. Honestly, everything tasted great. The kids meals: any restaurant that has a kids meal that my kids will eat and enjoy is a winner for me. On top of that, the kids meals are such a deal for the amount of food we got. The kids inhaled the mac and cheese and also really enjoyed the St. Louis ribs. The rib meat was fall off the bone tender, which made it easy to cut into small pieces. They keep a bottle of BBQ sauce at each table, but we asked if they only served one kind and we found out they have a spicy BBQ sauce, too, which was even better. The food came out relatively quickly and everything tasted really freshly made. The service was excellent. They were so friendly and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. I got my food so fast and it's chopped up like an expensive restaurant would be compared to the drop lettuce from a bag restaurant. I don't think I could cook my tri-tip this good either.
