SOYA K-BBQ was a family owned & operated BBQ joint in the greater Los Angeles area. Only 13 bbq stations inside the place that made it cozy and comfy to enjoy what you bbq'ed. The server/host was very attentive and cozy constantly refilling your orders. Cars were sparsely parked and space were plenty (at least when we were there). No ev charging stations were inside the parking lot. Prices are very much reasonable and affordable. Looks like a new KBBQ restaurant and ownership. No lunch KBBQ but open for dinner on weekdays and all day on weekends. My husband, baby and I went to check it out on a Saturday afternoon. Lots of parking available in the strip mall and they're located on a corner. They have a couple different AYCE options and we went with the simple one Soya A at $35.95. Soya B looks good but just a little higher price point. There were one family there dining so we were the second family in the restaurant. The vibe of the place was calm with Kpop music videos playing on the TVs and not super loud. We received excellent service for ordering and getting refills on banchan, salad and sesame oil (I love me some sesame oil with my meats :9). I always get the rice paper and theirs tasted really good. You gotta have the corn cheese too, which this place offers it. Their fried chicken wings were fried fresh and the japchae tasted on the sweeter side. Part of me felt like I could have eaten more meats but we were conservative and ordered the prime brisket, beef belly, thinly sliced pork belly, seasoned beef and spicy pork belly. Excellent! This is under new ownership. The servers are extremely helpful, attentive and informative. The meat quality is amazing. Beef belly, brisket and the top sirloin were some favorites. They have a variety of options, for both AYCE and a la carte. All bachan were super fresh and tasty. The tofu stew had amazing flavor. Some other kbbq spots tend to water it down but this was delicious. Another highlight was the japchae, it was freshly made and tasted incredible. Granted the price is up there everything was well worth the price. The other benefit honestly was service & quality. I'm excited to come back and try more. read more

The brisket was so flavorful, chewy, and soft. The thin slice pork belly was also very delicious. It was crispy and almost resembles bacon. I couldn't stop ordering it! I was very impressed by the quality of the meats--everything was fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. We ordered the prime brisket, pork belly (both regular and thinly sliced), and the beef belly--all of which were high quality and absolutely delicious. The sides were also great, with a nice variety of options. Some of my favorites were the radish wrap paper, the corn cheese, and the radish soup--so tasty and well-prepared! The service was excellent. Our server was great--anytime we wanted more sides, they brought them out quickly and with a smile. The owner was also incredibly kind and welcoming, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Another huge plus is that they have a parking lot, which is so convenient. One thing we weren't a fan of was the automatic service charge (tip), as we usually prefer to decide that ourselves based on the experience. That being said, we still had a great time overall. We came here on a Saturday night. No wait, large parking lot. Easy to find. It was good! We did the general menu and we loved the marinated beef belly, you should really try that. The waiters were very nice and service was tip top! They charged us the service fee for 4 people so make sure you check about tipping. They had it written down that if you pay in cash it's 4% off but they didn't honor it and we paid already so we didn't ask. Nice large space with lots of windows, bright. We love this place. The owners and staff are fantastic. So sweet. So kind. The food is delicious. There are so many great sides- from the corn cheese to delicious dumplings. Try the 'heart attack' jalapeño side or the kimchi fried rice. Of course the meat is fantastic and delicious. Bulgogi is amazing but the brisket is where it's at! We used Soya K-BBQ to cater our six year old's K-Pop Demon Hunters birthday party. Bulgogi, dumplings, chicken wings and rice. All the parents were super impressed and commented on how delicious it was. And the kids tried stuff they'd never tried before (except our kid already loved KBBQ) Soya actually gave us extra food. So kind. So generous. They gave us everything we needed, discussed with my wife what would be good choices to stay warm and what be good for an outdoor party. Michelle was super knowledgeable and patient talking with us to plan. Tonight we came as a family and brought a friend to KBBQ. We wound up closing down the restaurant and definitely ate our fill of wonderful food. Multiple staff and Michelle recognized us and came to visit and wanted to know how the party went. She remembered my wife's name. Toward the end of the night when we were the only ones here, the staff put on the K-Pop Demon Hunters soundtrack which made my daughter and ALL of us very happy. And AEW wrestling was on in the background. Which made me happy :) It was a perfect night. The kimchi is fantastic with all the depth of flavor that can only be made with the hands of experience. We had several sides all of which were very good. Finally a very good kbbq in Simi! We came right after they opened 12:35pm on Sunday. All tables started getting packed in next 30 minutes. This place is much better than other kbbq in the area, as we dine in a lot at GEN kbbq to comment. We went for all items in Soya B, all is fresh, so good and much less fatty than GEN. Brisket, top blade, galbi, short ribs... better quality than the other place few blocks away. Their side dishes (glass noodle, tofu soup/bean paste soup) are delious, freshly made as well! However I do not recommend seafood section (octopus, shrimp). They are kinda short staff, but all staff are nice, never forget your order. We will definitely come back, hope they keep up with all good quality food and service. A local place is much better than franchised kbbq out there. read more

The sides were so good , especially the glass noodles! Sides were on the small side but we asked for more and they gladly gave us more.4. The radish paper was a huge surprise ,sweet and crisp and went so good with the brisket 5. The meat portions were generous. Very tender bulgogi and delicious pork belly 6. Very clean! Finally a great restaurant aside from the Greek Cafe in Simi! If you're thinking of coming here ... do it. Michelle was our server and she was so sweet and kind . Always had a smile when she came to our table and no request was too big . Moved to Simi recently and we live KBBQ so we looked up this place on yelp and came in for a try. Initially first thing I noticed is that it was small, we were seated quickly with a friendly smile. Some sides were waiting for us already with water and that was really awesome! We began to order meats immediately and they came out fairly quick with great portions. Meat quality was amazing did not expect this place to be this good and wow they really hit it out of the park. They checked on us often and we were impressed with the service. Quality grills that cooked meat evenly without having to do many grill changes. No need to go to Korea town if you are in Simi come to Soya you will not be disappointed. read more

I have to say I was impressed with the quality of service, kindness and attentiveness of all servers each time I came here to eat. The host also recognized me and thanked me for coming back so that felt special and welcoming. I really liked that the servers and the host welcomed and attended to me with a smile every time. They checked up on me often and made my dining experience enjoyable every time. Food quality was great and I could tell the meat was fresh. I honestly wish I could give this place zero stars. From start to finish, the experience was absolutely terrible and by far the worst sushi/AYCE I've ever had. First, the forced gratuity fee. Yes, I eventually found it buried in tiny print on the menu, but at no point was it explained verbally. What makes this worse is that our server, Charlotte, had no problem explaining other rules up front--like the three different pricing levels, the 90-minute time limit (which was fine), and the restriction of only ordering three meats at a time. If those rules were worth clearly stating, then why wasn't the gratuity also mentioned? Instead, it was only highlighted on the receipt after the meal, which feels dishonest. When I questioned it, I was met with eye rolls, a condescending tone, and an obviously fake apology. The service was awful. From the very beginning, we had to repeatedly ask for basic items because nothing came out properly or in a timely way. Charlotte acted as though every request was a burden. Even when she was simply dropping food on the table, she made it clear through her attitude and body language that we were irritating her. It was rude, uncomfortable, and unprofessional. The food quality and portions were equally disappointing. For the price we paid--over $200 for three adults and two children--you would expect both quality and quantity. Instead, the shrimp looked like it was ripped straight out of a frozen Walmart bag and thrown onto a plate. On top of that, they would only bring out four to five pieces of rice paper at a time and a tiny bowl of salad to share. The portions were laughably small and felt deliberately limited, as if they were trying to stretch every last item instead of serving a proper meal. Nothing tasted fresh, and nothing about the food justified the cost. Overall, this place failed in every way--poor service, hidden fees, rude staff, low-quality food, and stingy portions. It was by far the worst dining experience I've had in a long time, and I will never return. Save your money and your time. read more

Ownership changed within the past couple months! Didn't experience the previous ownership so can't speak to it, but I went for the first time last week and had a pretty good experience. Want to support more KBBQ places in this area!! Having grown up in LA county, I'm used to having lots of choices. We need more of that in Ventura county! Heads up--if you want to dine AYCE there by yourself, they may not let you if they're busy. That's what one of the staff told me over the phone and when I called to check. However, they did take me on a weekend night around 7:30/8 PM. Meat was pretty decent quality! I got the A menu and ordered the brisket, thinly sliced pork belly, spicy pork belly, and I think the marinated beef. All were pretty good. Brisket wasn't too fatty; the meats that were marinated simple marinades but yummy. I considered getting the B menu for the tongue, but a $10 price hike for only a couple more options didn't feel worth it. I do want to mention that the banchan wasn't my favorite. The options were limited to spicy cucumber, kimchi, and 2 others I can't remember. Smaller selection, and I wasn't a fan of how the spicy cucumber tasted. Kimchi was average; I've had much better. You do get salad and if you get AYCE you can request side orders of things like rice, corn cheese, japchae, doenjang jigae, which is nice. The place overall is on the smaller side, but I'm glad their ventilation was decent enough that it wasn't super smoky in there, though I think since it was near close there were only 2-3 other parties aside from me. Seemed clean, well-lit. One thing they could improve is that service can be a little slow, and sometimes it's hard to flag down a server. Overall, will return if I'm craving. The options further west aren't my fave, and sometimes I'm too lazy to head into the valley for KBBQ. read more

Dios mio! That was the first expression out of my mouth when I ate EVERYTHING here at SOYA K-BBQ tonight with my elderly parents. We ordered the AYCE - B Plan and it had some great options. We tried a variety of what we like and tried some new meats--all so flavorful, tender, and excellent quality (faves were the LA Galbi, Pork Jowl, and Jumulleok). Marinades were not too sweet, but just right. The banchan (side dishes) were fresh, well seasoned, and so good. The dressing on the salad was delicious and not under or overdressed. The egg souffle was tasty, and the fermented soybean stew was perfect (and not salty like every place). The savoriness of all the items were spot on. Can't wait to go back to try different A La Carte dishes! The service was very good. They were attentive and quick to provide what we needed, swapping out the grill pans often/as needed/requested. There's ample parking, can accommodate larger groups, and the k-bbq smell/smokiness was minimal. It was pretty busy on a Thursday night! For only being open for a few months, so pleased that they've got the quality and flavor this cook (former caterer and former cooking instructor...and I'm Korean with a Mom who can throw down most restaurants) needed to take the night off from making another meal (I take care of my parents). Just went there at 5:45 on Saturday and the place was exactly half empty. The smaller booths were full, but all the inner tables (seat up to 6 people) were empty. They told us 15-20 minute wait. I asked why and they said they wanted to hold those tables in case bigger parties came in. We left and will not be returning, which is a shame because the food is good. It's just bad service. The last time we went, we had to struggle to get our server's attention because the whole staff was too busy watching the Dodgers game. I usually avoid writing mid or bad reviews, but this experience left me feeling the need to speak about it. We visited some weekend ago & unfortunately the service really missed the mark. The initial greeter ended up being our hostess & primary server for most of the night, & she was consistently unfriendly & couldn't be bothered. Each time I tried to order more food, she would dart away before I could finish. We were later passed off to another server who was slightly nicer (assuming bc the first server went on lunch), but even then, she seemed irritated & disengaged too. Both of them definitely exhibited mean girl energy. My biggest issue was the lack of genuineness & basic courtesy. Every time I said 'thank you,' their response was 'uh huh.' It was disrespectful. I was a server too, you wouldn't catch me dead responding to my customers with 'uh huh' when they say thank you..... customers shouldn't feel like they're putting staff out by being more polite!! What balances this review is the food & ambiance. The food quality was great! No complaints there. I especially enjoyed the pork belly & all the sides they offer. The atmosphere of the restaurant was also nice. Later in the evening, a third server stepped in (curly dark hair, tied in a bun) & she was amazing- always enthusiastic & smiling, & she was very quick! I honestly wish she had been our server from the start. So overall. I don't think I'll be returning anytime soon. read more
