Saw some videos on social media of their off the menu lobster caesar wrap-- and let me tell you in the video it had huge pieces of lobster but the wrap I received barely had any pieces of lobster and they were tiny pieces about half a penny each piece. It also dripped everywhere-- there was so much watery sauce it was making a pool in my container, all over my arms, and on the table. Not practical for eating and it was super disappointing seeing the large pieces of lobster they give to influencers and what they actually serve. Also it was super underwhelming in flavor. Would not get again. We also got oysters and those were way overpriced for mid tasting oysters. The ones at Whole Foods are better than this. I was expecting mind blowing and sweet oysters if they're going to charge nearly $50 a dozen. The uni was also extremely fishy and not creamy and succulent. It wasn't that expensive but it was mid. Lobster roll also had tiny portions of lobster that were rubbery. I expected it to be amazing for how much it costs-- again disappointed. The clam chowder might as well have been a roasted potato chowder. It was tan/brown colored and not creamy just grainy and full of potatoes. Didn't taste anything like clam chowder. The burger was decent just overpriced. Hard pass on this spot. All hype and not worth the $ to eat mid/disappointing food. Oh they also forgot our ice tea order and took forever to get someone to help us get it. Mehhhhhhh.

The people who I assume own the restaurant, working as both the waiters and chefs, were incredibly kind, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about what they serve. Since we were completely new to Indonesian cuisine, they patiently answered our questions and gave us great recommendations, which made the experience even better. This is exactly the kind of small business you want to support. The flavors were unlike anything I've had before, and I loved getting to try something so different. My favorite dish was easily the grilled fish. It reminded me of the Filipino grilled fish I grew up eating, so it had a comforting familiarity while still showcasing its own distinct Indonesian flavors. If you're looking for authentic Indonesian food or simply want to try something new, I highly recommend LaaLaaPan. I'll definitely be coming back to explore more of the menu.

The balado wasn't spicy, but the sambal definitely was. I also missed having sambal ijo and some gulai gravy, both of which would have made the plate feel more complete. The bakwan jagung had a similarly homemade style. Depending on your preferences, it will either make you miss your mom's cooking or leave you craving a crispier, restaurant-style bakwan jagung packed with corn kernels. The soda gembira, like many Indonesian places here, use Sprite instead of club soda or plain soda water, which makes it far too sweet. The syrup they used tasted authentic, though. Overall, you may love this place specifically because the food tastes like something you grew up eating. However, if your preference leans more toward polished, restaurant-style Indonesian food, it may feel a little underwhelming.

That alone says everything about how this restaurant values its customers. We finally decided to try Monty's after seeing their chicken Parmesan all over social media. My husband had been wanting to try it for months. I ordered the fried shrimp Alfredo. Since it wasn't on the menu, the waiter told me it was the same as the shrimp scampi, priced at $46 plus an additional $9 for pasta. My husband simply asked for the chicken Parmesan. The waiter never mentioned there were two different chicken Parmesan options at two different prices and automatically brought the more expensive one. Had we been told there was a choice, we would have ordered the less expensive option. Good customer service means informing your guests of their options--not making the decision for them. Then the food arrived. My Alfredo was dry, cold, and clumped together, and the shrimp were cold. The chicken Parmesan was soggy and cold as well. For a bill of nearly $150 for two entrées, one coffee, and one dessert, this was completely unacceptable. I have absolutely no problem paying premium prices when the food and service justify it. This experience justified neither. To make matters worse, the valet attendant was incredibly rude to both me and my husband. I have a valid handicap placard and there were two handicap parking spaces available. Instead of showing any courtesy or professionalism, we were told we couldn't park there unless we paid. My husband chose to drop me off because I cannot walk long distances. As he drove away to park down the street, the valet shouted at us, telling us we couldn't park there and spoke to us in an extremely disrespectful manner. Between the misleading service, overpriced and poorly prepared food, rude valet staff, and the complete silence from customer service for the past nine months, this restaurant has shown that once they have your money, your experience no longer matters. I gave them every opportunity to make this right. They chose not to

They were pitched out in a private parking lot, tents, tables, and stools where one of the dining areas was at. There was another better lit dining area across the parking lot. I had the shrimp, carne asada, and carnitas tacos. I kind of thought some were lagging in flavor, but I could have just requested more salsa to add to them that probably would have helped with that. The three tacos were filled nicely and I didn't leave still hungry. It was still a unique experience coming here because the underdog of the night were her tortillas! They were quite unique for street style sized tortillas imo and I appreciated the surprise. While it was a pleasure meeting the woman behind it all and her helpers, I am not sure if I would go out of my way to come back unless I were already in the area or maybe if I needed to cater for a party. This seemed like it would be ok due to the reviews and such, but we already knew there would be a chance that it would be this way.. what way.. the way where it's made for the area, not for the true authenticity. The service was ok, not great, not attentive, not helpful, nothing, just a guy that does the minimum. The inside is nice and spacious, well-designed and roomy. The dead giveaway should have been that we were the only ones there at 5:30pm. We have them a try, and it's not worth it. The best thing is the papaya salad. Do not get the bbq pork pieces unless you want some boiled pork with some sauce on it. Do not, definitely do not get the Wontons! These are the most upsetting wontons I have ever ate! It is just a small piece of over-processed, now tough, piece of pork in them, the size of a marble. The shrimp is in the broth, not made together. Foolish! Not enough flavor on the pad see ew, and what more, no wok char! What?! Where's the wok?! Anyway, like I said, there are so much better out there. If you never had Thai food, this is the place for you, but then again, don't get the papaya salad, cause that's the only thing made right, and that's too much for an unfamiliar palate.

Chef Jae guides you through a thoughtfully crafted $190 18 course "Taste Forest" that's sure to delight. When my husband and I showed up at the neighboring lounge (which does not open before the first Omakase dining slot at 5:30 pm), we weren't quite sure what to expect. When we told them we were there for the Omakase dinner at 5:30 pm, the staff kindly let us in out of the heat while they continued to prepare the space for service in both the lounge and restaurant. They don't have a liquor license so all cocktails are sake-based, but none the less enjoyable. They also offer beer and wine. We were offered a menu while we waited, and yes - any drink you purchase in the lounge may accompany you to your dining experience. You can also add on a sake-pairing to your omakase meal for $55 each. We very much enjoyed a Yuzu Cocktail and the sake pairing. The customer service was fantastic, personable, and filled with intention - but if I were to provide constructive criticism - somewhat clumsy on the delivery. Chef Jae had everyone introduce themselves and included a Chef mentee on finishing up the plating of the sushi. Chef Jae is talkative and clearly enjoys speaking with guests - this all lends itself to the homey feel of the experience - but some staff were so soft-spoken it was difficult to hear them as they introduced our sake pairings, and sometimes the service seemed poorly timed with the courses. I think with a little rehearsal of how they want to approach dinner service (mainly timing, introduction and flow) would provide some more confidence and better execution of the experience they clearly wished to impart. The food was fantastic, and truly felt like a journey. Everything is prepared in house, and of the best quality. My husband and I are sure to be thinking about our experience here for a long time, and will be recommending others to come check it out. Note: If an omakase experience is not in your budget, they also offer ala carte items.
