We brought a party of 11 for a Mother's Day evening dinner and I must say that the food was really good. The service wasn't that great and I think it's possibly because they were overextended on Mother's Day trying to take care of everybody. Our Server was a college age person that got the drinks wrong, we asked for straws he forgot to bring them back, ask for water that took 20 minutes when we got the bills, they were all mixed up. My Wife and I are going to come back again just the two of us because we thought the food was really good and I'm sure that it will be much better next time with the customer service. read more

I live on the east coast, however, my son, who lives in Agoura Hills got married this past weekend. Since he has lived in the area for a few yers, we have eaten at Adobe Cantina many times. The food here is EXCELLENT, the prices are very fair and this is all topped by exceptional service. We had my son and daughter in laws wedding welcoming dinner (rehersal dinner) and then brought immediate family there a few days later to celebrate our other two sons' college graduation (see pic). It has a bit of spice! The WOW factor is this Molcajete (for 2) with an amazingly delicious guajillo pepper red sauce, which I put on EVERYTHING!! It comes to the table bubbling hot! Although, I would have liked for it to stay bubbling hot a little longer. It's filled with steak, chicken, shrimp, panela cheese, fresh cactus leaf, chorizo and grilled onions. I would have preferred for the onions to not be on top (there was a lot of them) and for the steak to show more instead of being buried. I would have liked a better presentation (from other Molcajetes I've had). The Cochinita Pibil is a slow-roasted Yucatán-style pork that's wrapped in banana leaves. I would have liked the banana leaves for presentation. It was tender but nothing about it wowed me. Service was a little slow even though it was not too busy. We didn't get our water refilled throughout our whole meal. And, it took awhile to get our check. read more

This place was shockingly good all around! I tried their Caesar salad they're iced tea and their fajitas, not very Mexican inspired dishes, but the overall experience was very good. They seem to be a little bit backed up with one guy trying to manage too many tables and so the service was a little bit slow but once we got his attention it was completely fine. I definitely will come back here with a bunch of friends to share the experience. The overall ambience for the place has a very inviting open feel, I think the pictures that I saw online ahead of time do it justice. This place is also located a little bit by itself which I feel adds to a more relaxed feel, definitely a destination spot but not a far walking distance to the local shopping and eating center. read more

We had just moved into a lovely neighborhood in Agoura Hills and on our first night there happened upon a long established (over 30 years) hidden gem family Mexican restaurant called the Adobe Cantina that we'd like to very highly recommend to you. Excellent staff, amazing margaritas, and wonderful food served hot off the griddle. Everything was freshly prepared and delicious. There is a lovely outside terrace with fountain. And there were absolutely NO negatives!!! Our waitress Leslie was incredible and the bartender was also amazing. It's got that effortless charm, like you've wandered into a friend's courtyard back home--dry breeze in the air, umbrella overhead, a cold beer kissing your lips. It's familiar in the best way. The chips and salsa? As they should be--bold, textured, unapologetically fresh. None of that watered-down, food-colored filler passed off as salsa in lesser joints. This has body, bite, and soul. My go-to is the Caesar Chicken Salad, and yes, there's a reason. It's a quiet homage to its roots--born not in Rome, but in Tijuana, by the hands of Italian immigrant Caesar Cardini on the Fourth of July, 1924. There's something poetic about enjoying it here, in a setting that feels like an open-air ode to cross-cultural flavor. The house margarita, on the other hand, missed the mark. Lacking real lime, real pulp, real punch--it leaned too heavy on the mix and not enough on authenticity. But I'll give them a pass this time. Went there for taco Tuesday, 3 couples. So the chips and salsa was at our table within 2 minutes. And was really good enjoyed by all. Everyone except for 2 of us had skinny margaritas and enjoyed them. So I had chicken street tacos, small corn tortillas. Wifey had fish tacos 2 couples had tacos and the third couple had chicken quesadilla. The service was excellent. We enjoyed a beautiful night on the patio with our favorite waiter Pablo, who even gave us a few more tortillas to take home for the Fajitas I couldn't finish! We were seated right away and our server brought out complimentary chips and salsa. The complimentary salsa was a good mild, chunky salsa. The menu has lots of fish/seafood options which is what I was craving. My boyfriend and I ordered the regular ceviche for an appetizer and shared the blackened ahi tuna taco plate (2 tacos) for dinner. We love this place! It has two patio options-one is more enclosed and cozy and the other is more outdoorsy-shaded by umbrellas and trees. The chips are homemade and always crisp and delicious. Our favorite appetizer is the queso fundido with chorizo-dinner is not complete without it! Is this place under new management I wonder? I haven't been here for a while so we thought we'd stop by and I got the lobster and spinach quesadilla which was my absolute favorite. It was just a watery mess! My husband got the enchiladas. Both came out real hot as though they were microwaved. The chips on the table were stale.We were the only ones in the restaurant, and the service was just terrible. I had to actually go up to the waiter and give him my credit card as he was talking with another worker upfront for a very long time. Food: Always freshly made, yummy and great ingredients are used. Their drinks actually have alcohol in them. The Cadillac Marguerite is BOMB! Oh and I must mention their chips, salsa and guacamole. I think they sprinkle tajin on the chips! Service: wait staff is stable! In the years I've been patronizing this business, you become familiar with the wait staff. They always come by the table to check in on your needs. They are not pushy about taking your order either. Ambience: it's all in the outdoors! The front patio can accommodate small and large parties; the patio is terraced. But they have a large back patio as well! If you haven't been here, bring your business here. We came to have dinner here on a Taco Tuesday. The service was friendly and efficient. (It's so nice when the waiter smiles each time he approaches the table!) The ambiance festive Mexican in style, but it is not overdone. There are wide arches inside, curved Mexican tiles, & also strings of those colorful cut-out paper banners. The food is delicious. The chips that came with our order of guac were perfect-- warm, crispy and though thin by design, they were equal to the task of scooping up the guacamole nicely. Was craving Mexican food and on the way home stuck in traffic on the 101 and luckily found the Adobe Cantina! Happy to wait out traffic while having a delicious dinner. We were quickly seated after immediately being greeted by the majority of the staff. Everyone was extremely kind and welcoming. Our server was very attentive throughout our dinner too! Plenty of seating inside and outside on their fun patio. We weren't in the mood for drinks but they did look delicious. Instead we started out with chips and salsa and each of us ordered our own fajitas. I loved the chips and salsa as the salsa had a slight kick and the chips were nicely salted and crispy. My friend ordered the steak fajita and I had the chicken fajita. Mine was so large we definitely could have shared. I had to take half home and honestly it was almost two more meals. We loved our fajitas as they were marinated with the best marinade and cooked to perfection. The onions and peppers were addicting. We received warm tortillas, 3 each, and ate them all. Adobe Cantina is such a great restaurant! The food and service are great. We love going there to eat on the patio. We recently had our high school reunion there (for the second time). The atmosphere was great, not too loud, so that you could hold a conversation. You were able to choose your table when you walked in. There was outdoor seating on both sides of the building, which was nice to have a couple of options, although we chose to sit in doors with it being so warm out. The server was very attentive, answered our questions regarding the menu items, and kept my water coming. Most important is that you do receive chips and salsa while you wait. Wasn't the best chips and salsa, but it's nice to have something to munch on while waiting to order. As for the food, my cousin didn't seem to care for her shrimp cocktail. It was made more like cerviche, and she commented that it wasn't very flavorful. I think it probably would depend on the person trying out it. She did, however, love the seafood burrito. She said it was very filling and a nice blend of flavors. As for my meal, I expected more flavor from the chicken fajitas. The chicken didn't taste as if it was seasoned, so most of the flavor I received was from the peppers and onions alone. There were also a few bitess of the chicken that we over cooked. The rice that accompanied the fajitas was nice and light. The portion was plenty to have leftovers. I chose the flour tortillas, but you do have the option of corn. Can't say that I would be on this side of Mexico again to stop in again, but I'd definitely suggest you checking them out of you are !! read more
