This place offers what one would expect from a chinese buffet. A little bit of this and a little bit of that. Lots of chicken dishes, fried chicken, noodles, rice, soup, sushi, etc. I enjoyed the mongolian bbq area. They offered beef, chicken and shrimp. Lots of fresh veggies and noodles. The chef whipped it up in a few minutes. My parents enjoyed the sushi. For dessert there is some fruit, small treats and a gellato station. To top it off there was a chocolate fountain. Food is pretty good for price here! It's always crowded on a Sunday afternoon (right after church) so best times to go are weekdays! It's great for big groups or small, even by yourself. You're really just here for the buffet. Staff cleans up plates pretty regularly but I can see how there's a lot of food leftover on the sides when it's a Sunday afternoon. I think it's the last kinda traditional Chinese buffet in Ventura County. I happen to enjoy nostalgic things, and this type of meal certainly fits that description. It's an old school, all you can eat, take your chances buffet... It's not bad, it's not good, but sometimes you just want a Chinese buffet, and this is just what you expect. Lots of choices, ok food, servers moving plates off the table, and if you're lucky, you get some dishes that have just been freshly cooked. It was very crowded and that's always a little unnerving, but I guess if it wasn't busy you'd wonder about that too. Oh, and I didn't try the sushi, though it actually looked pretty good--but I'm not that brave. Lastly, it's too expensive for what you get, but that's not a deal breaker. Yikes. Where do I begin? First of all, I love buffets. My go to places closed down. Among those, my favorite in the area was Tropical. I didn't even mind Gold Medal as well. Both are closed, unfortunately. Vegas Seafood Buffet is the best but their prices went up a lot and further away. So I found this thanks to Yelp. The highlight is definitely their dessert section and Gelato station. None of the mentioned buffets have Gelato. They have self serve ice cream, which aren't bad but Gelato is definitely better. Why the 2 stars? Everything tasted off. It looked the same as Tropical but very subpar. I didn't enjoy anything except the dessert section. Yelp let me down this time. Back to the drawing board. Went in at 5 pm. I liked the shrimp and Chinese dishes. The crab was not great, salmon was not as fresh as one would like, and the avocado in the sushi rolls was turning dark so it wasn't freshly made either. It was a slow Monday though. Service was fine. I get paying by the pound for food you waste if the food was good... seems they stay in business because of the extra charge. they don't care about anything... they only have a few things that look edible. This my third time to Golden Panda Simi Valley. Food was good, service was ok. My big complaint was the filthy restrooms and management. The men's restroom had urine soaked floors around the urinals, water soaked floors, no paper towels to dry hands, a big water leak in the ceiling that had a large container that was about to overflow. I told the management that the restrooms were in dire need of a major cleanup, she seemed unconcerned. This the third time I have witnessed the men's restroom a total disaster. I have eaten at Golden Panda Buffet since it was taken over from the Elephant Bar, it used to be much better in years past but is now at the point where it is so run down that the place needs a total Gutted and update from top to bottom, all they did was take it over from the Elephant Bar and keep on Trucking. Even the same brass elephant door handles on the two front doors, too cheap to change anything. The Chinese slave labor hosts are brought over on 6 month work visas and speak no English, (But they try and I feel sorry for them as I think they are being used as underpaid labor which needs to be looked into ). The Dirty carpets from the Elephant Bar Era are so bad that the health department needs to condemn the carpet if nothing else, Today was the last straw, while sitting in my booth and eating lunch I noticed a wall socket that was pulled out with exposed live wires. A small child playing under the table could be killed or seriously electrocuted. The men's bathroom walls are covered with Grafiti, the electric towel dispenser only about 4 inches of towel at a time, and is useless to dry hands. The shutter windows above the booths are broken and VERY DIRTY!, and have not been cleaned in years. This place needs to be closed down and forced to clean up from top to bottom - AND get rid of the unsanitary carpet which is probably 20 years old or more. read more

This place has gone downhill. We have gone to Golden Panda often when we were still living in Simi Valley. Tonight, we went back to Golden Panda along the way home. We were excited for it as it was at least 5 months since we last came here. The employees here were rude. I loved their Mongolian BBQ. I came to their bbq area and there was no tongs there to grab the food. I asked the employee. He laughed at me and gave me a tong. I told him to put more than one tong as someone might be allergic to seafood/ certain types of meat. He laughed at me and threw one more tong in my dish. What a clown??? The food selection and quality is really good and so is the price! I'm not usually a fan of buffets, but I would totally recommend this one. Only thing that was a little odd is when we requested hot water and they gave it in a regular cup for like soda and cold beverages. Decided to try this place. It is hit or miss with the dishes offered. I was looking forward to just having sushi & crab. The assorted sushi rolls & the salmon sashimi were good. The tuna didn't look as fresh, so I didn't try it. I was really excited to eat the crab claws. I saw several people takingots of them. However when I cracked them open, they were black inside, at the joints. This means either they weren't cooked to the right temperature OR they weren't stored at the right temperature.  I was waiting for our server to return, so I could tell him but he came to pick up my plate after I had gone back to find something else. Garlic shrimp was tasty but over cooked. My boyfriend liked the chow mein, but I did not try it. The desserts are hit & miss, as well. Flan was bland. Sesame balls were amazing! My boyfriend enjoyed a couple of almond tarts. Bottom line; I did not get sick but not sure if I'll return. If you go, be sure to look carefully before consuming! read more

The food was decent. Good choice of seafood, But poor on the meat side of it. The dessert was actually not that bad either. The dining was really good, with Good seating and ok service. The price is really reasonable for a buffet. My only concern is the customer service, Me and my friends drove a little under an hour to there. So, I called before we start heading there to get some info, But, for some reason was getting hung up on every single time. And, I called about 3-4 times. May need to work on that as well. The buffet experience you would expect. They are quick at seating and the place is usually busy so that's a plus. Selection on the bar is good and most importantly to me they keep the trays full so the food is fresh. The Mongolian station is pretty cool, admittedly I don't use it much because there is so much other variety. Service on refills could be better but other than thay this is a good go to. I went to the front to pay for my meal that I barely took any bites of but the cashier was kind enough to just let us go without paying. First time ever coming here. Have lived in the area many years and never come because I thought it would be an experience that I didn't desire to have. Friends chose the place. I dont want to leave a "mean" review, but I am honest. The food was mediocre quality at best. The restaurant itself is very dirty. Dust, mess, old stains, and just old fixtures from the 1980's or 90's (our booth seat was squeaking and sliding and the window shades right next to us were stained with ancient food). It really needs a renovation/deep clean. There were messes throughout the place, including the chocolate fountain in the dessert area which seriously needed to be cleaned up- chocolate all over the floor. The workers also all seemed pretty unhappy to be there, and I don't just say that to rag on them.. They barely served our table and not one of them ever smiled at us. I was also shocked that the cost for 4 to eat on the weekend was $100- so $25 a head for food quality worse than Panda Express. I would not come back, but I wish the business the best and hope to someday see that they've made some positive changes! read more
