Here is the thing about the all you can eat, read the rules, then you can place an order for sushi 3 times, as much as you want, but you better eat it all or you will be charged extra for it. $39 per person for all you can eat is pretty good. I would guess most people would not want to order more than three times on the all you can eat menu, but I normally would order less to make sure I could finish it. The way they do it, makes that difficult, as you might end up not getting everything you want. The sushi was okay, not the best, not the worst. I did not have the all you can eat, I got regular rolls and Goza. My son got the all you can eat. The servers and the Chef were very nice. What can I say about mediocre service/ food ? Definitely overpriced for 39.99 they over load with so much rice that you can't even taste the sushi, and the eel was so slimy and fishy was disgusting ,The salmon was not edible, we try to support small businesses, and we frequented this place several times and each time there was an issue or a problem, but the lack of respect and the poor quality of food and awful customer service especially from the owner is unacceptable.! Excellent service. They kept our green teas refilled. The fish quality was really a mixture most were great. The shrimp shu Mai, the Gyoza and the baked mussels were all excellent 5 stars! Really loved the albacore and the yellowtail top notch! The regular tuna and salmon were also excellent, but the pepper tuna and salmon seemed a little dry or not the best cuts so we will not order those again. The crunchy rolls was good and the crispy fried rice was amazing so all in all this a a great AYCE spot and is the closest to Ventura and Santa Barbara counties. Clean restaurant with decent sushi and nice staff. Quite a large space that can accommodate large groups. We went for lunch on a weekday and would've loved to be in and out but our server took forever to take our order for the second round. Asked for a pencil and never came back as we got impatient and got our own pen after we realized she forgot what we had asked for. And this is the service we received with only 3 other tables in house. We understand that it can be a lot of work but we didn't plan to be there longer than an hour either. UNSANITARY. I have been ordering takeout from here over the years when I'm in Simi. I've always loved their rolls, and especially enjoy the sushi tacos. On Friday, May 31st at 11:30am, I walked in when they opened to order takeout. There was only one other customer in the restaurant. I ordered 10 sushi tacos to go. A man named Saajan at the register didn't greet me. I paid with cash, then he continued counting his cash drawer. After that, he walked over to the back bar area and went on to pick up all of the wontons for my order with his bare, filthy money hands. He didn't even bother washing his hands! I'm sure this happens all of the time in restaurants, but we just don't see it! It is wrong and a health violation. I then proceeded to walk back to the bar and said kindly, "I saw you handle the cash at the register, then immediately grab my food with your hands. I don't feel comfortable with that." He then said I was right and he's sorry. He washed his hands and continued. He said he put aside the ones he touched with his dirty hands. I don't know about that. I was so turned off by this entire situation. I will not be returning again. I tossed the sushi tacos. I bumped this review up from a 1 star to a 2 star, because he did at least apologize. When employees are this careless and filthy, I don't trust how other things are cleaned and run there. The nigiri tuna had one of the thickest pieces of fish I've ever seen on it. Sashimi / Nigiri is meant to be delicate, technical, made with purpose. The staff were politely distant at best, offering the bare minimum. What really threw us off was the constant stream of Jesus themed music... dont get me wrong, no shade to the Lord, but the gospel playlist didnt exactly match the sleek aesthetic the restaurant was clearly going for. I got sashimi, sushi, and a spicy tuna roll. The roll was the best part of the meal. The sashimi was not so good. The pieces were large and didn't melt in your mouth at all but were super chewy and didn't taste fresh. I could only get down a couple pieces of that and was worried I would get sick if I ate any more of that. The roll in contrast was easy to eat and melted in your mouth. The fish quality is really high grade and portions are so filling! We did AYCE and truly got our moneys worth. So many options to choose from with 3 rounds and everything was delicious! I recommend: baked mussels, salmon nigiri (a lot of it), peppered salmon and peppered tuna nigiri, yellowtail nigiri, and lemon tuna roll. Ambiance - traditional sushi joint atmosphere. Simple and not much decor. There's TVs in every angle though, considering that they advertise watching "the game" with them and having a beer. Service - not the friendliest service, but not the worst. Food comes out fast. They also pre-bus really well. The owner, an older Korean gentleman, likes to yell at his staff a lot & is very straight forward to guests, which can be off putting. He also talks about guests pretty loudly, enough that I heard his comments towards a large party. Not very professional in my opinion. Ummmm what can I say, on my second visit everything was going good. Good service, food good. UNTIL I heard someone coughing and blowing their nose, as nosey as I am and easily get grossed out (mind you I heard it my entire stay) I'm looking around and I can't find who it is, cause ewwww people are eating. A nice Japanese lady served us our orders quickly, starting from our drinks which is green tea cos I figured that would be perfect to digest everything since we got the unlimited sushi. Boy oh boy their servings are huge so you better prepare yourself and come in hungry so you can eat more! They'd give you a dessert after. The second issue was their menu all you can it option, just make sure when is the lunch te or dinner for not overcharged, Because they have 2 types of all you can eat one for lunch and another is for dinner. As it's our mom's favorite place, we decided to celebrate Mother's Day at Sake 2 Me Sushi. We went right after lunch, before the dinner crowd, to avoid the rush. We ordered the all-you-can-eat sushi, except for one person who opted for a bento box. We specifically requested for all our food to be served at the same time, including the bento box. Our waiter, who also happened to be the owner, seemed confused by this request. Despite explaining that we wanted to eat together as a family, he mentioned having limited chefs and seemed reluctant to accommodate us. We ASSURED him we were willing to wait. However, the bento box arrived well before the sushi. We waited patiently for the rest of the food, which took another 15-20 minutes. When the owner noticed I hadn't started eating, I explained again that I was waiting for everyone's food. By then, the bento box was cold. When I pointed this out, the owner responded with attitude, suggesting I should feel guilty for requesting a fresh meal. He made it very clear that it was going to be thrown away in the trash & accommodating our request was a burden, making us feel uncomfortable in front of the entire restaurant on Mother's Day. This experience left a bad taste in our mouths. We made our SIMPLE REQUEST clear FROM THE BEGINNING, yet we were made to feel unwelcome and guilty. We left upset, but STILL TIPPED GENEROUSLY to make it clear that we are, and were, customers with simple requests. Since then, every time we want sushi, we avoid Sake 2 Me Sushi due to the disrespectful service we experienced.
