This place tends to get busy, so be sure you order ahead and provide yourself ample time or be prepared to wait for a table. The food is definitely worth the wait. The main reason my family and I love to come here is for the sushi burrito. It's one of my favorites. Service here is decent. It can be slow at times and sometimes employees just stand around and talk when it's busy, which can be frustrating, but overall not too bad. read more

I'm shocked at how badly this place handled something as simple as a kids meal. I ordered from the kids menu - a roll with "easy rice" and fries. What came out was a tiny portion of rice with only two pieces of tempura. When I asked about the fries, the waiter (Natalia) actually came back demanding that I give the rice and veggies back so the kitchen could replace them with fries. Excuse me? Food that's already been served should be discarded, not taken back from a child's plate. It got worse. She later returned asking for the two small pieces of tempura off my son's plate. My child almost cried because they were trying to take food away from him just to "fix" their mistake. That's not just unprofessional - it's morally wrong. On top of that, the two kids meals we ordered didn't even come out together - they were served about 15 minutes apart. The Coke was flat. And Natalia had no clue what "easy rice" meant, assuming it meant less rice on the side, leaving my child's plate practically empty. This place has incompetent service, poor communication, and no regard for basic customer care. Taking food back from a child's plate is unacceptable. read more

I live in a small town called Simi Valley and far from the famous Sushi Restaurants and bars of Los Angeles. But if you're in my town, passing or dropping to visit the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, Go Fish Sushi is a place to lunch/dine on fresh sushi and also enjoy a chat with friends from the neighborhood. Located at the Simi Valley Town Center Mall, the staff offers a haven for folks lost in a quagmire of foods and friendships, come to Go Fish and enjoy their Unagi or Eel bowl, tuna, salmon and all their chicken and beef masterpieces, will keep you in my town with a smile. . The service was terrible from the moment we sat down. I work in customer service myself, so I always make a point to be extra polite when I go out to eat because I know how tough it can be. But I honestly couldn't understand what was going on with the staff here. I came with my parents for dinner. They're in their 60s, and if you know older people, they're always cold. The AC was blasting, so they asked if we could move outside. When our server came by, I asked if that was okay, and she said, "Yeah, I'll meet you out there." But when I went to ask how to get to the patio, she looked super annoyed -- like how dare we ask to move tables. Thankfully, the hostess who greeted us was really nice and helped us out. Once we were seated outside, the server took our drink and appetizer orders, then came back once to take our entrée order -- and that was basically the last we saw of her. After that, it was just managers and food runners helping us, and even they seemed irritated when we asked for simple things like a fork or when I politely asked for chopsticks. I always go out of my way to say "please" and "thank you" because I know how draining it can be to deal with difficult customers, but the attitude never improved. When we finished eating, we waited and waited for the check, but no one came. I finally asked the hostess again, and my mom and I went to get the car while my dad stayed behind -- he still waited another 10 minutes, and the server never came back. Maybe she was having a bad day, but that's no excuse to treat guests like they're a bother. The overall attitude (besides the sweet hostess) was really disappointing. We were just trying to enjoy a nice dinner, not feel like we were inconveniencing everyone by being there. read more

We've been coming here for years, and when we first started to go, we were not impressed. The last couple of years the service, quality and portion sizes have been great. So many of our old "go too" places have dramatically raised their prices and the size and quality of the rolls have diminished. The last time we ordered online for pickup and as I was waiting, I was impressed how well the staff was attentive to not only me but to each guest who was there. read more

My daughter and I were in a couple of weeks ago and ordered to go. First let me tell you the good things: 1. Dream Roll: Order this! It was amazing and beautifully presented. I don't eat a lot of carbs, and it was melt in your mouth perfect. 2. California Roll: Again amazing! Fresh, flavorful and just how it should be. 3. Sashimi: We ordered the 1/2 board. Seriously, soooo good. Fresh. Melt in your mouth. Yum!! And now for the bad. Wait. There was nothing bad. The sushi was amazing and came out fast. The host was friendly and knowledgeable. We didn't go inside the actual restaurant, but the waiting room was clean and comfortable. Annnnnddd as an aside, I just called them and asked about the dream roll (because I couldn't remember the name and since we don't live nearby, I wanted my local sushi place to emulate it), and the person who answered the phone at Go Fish was super kind and helped me figure it out. We have been here several times and always very pleased with it. The sushi is always fresh and tastes great. The service is outstanding. There was only one waitress on duty, I think she was our waitress last time we where here. She never misses a beat, she was waiting on at least 6 tables and it was the best service we ha e had in some time. The ambiance is nice, the decor is geared towards the sea. I love this place so much! We've been going every week for a couple months bcus it's just that good!!! The sushi is always fresh, the service is fantastic- we chatted with the owners and now are friendly with them :) I'd say some of my favs are the garlic edamame, the heart attack, the Jenny roll, & the Tiffany roll. Go Fish is the greatest sushi place EVER! We have been going there for over a year, and have never had a bad experience. The employees are very clean, and make sure to wash hands before touching other people's plates. The chef's are literally magicians that can make the most outstanding sushi ever. This is definitely not your normal sushi place. They have many out of the ordinary dishes made with sushi that when you taste them it makes you wonder why other sushi places aren't making those! I'm referring to things like the sushi burrito, Red Bull roll (which has filet mignon on the top), sushi taco's, and many other creative dishes. If you haven't been here you are totally missing out! I was working around the corner and looked up this sushi restaurant. Mall looked dead and I thought this place was close, man was I so happy it wasn't! Music was awesome, it was my old jams I used to listed too, they have tv's showing the World Series! Definitely a place you wanna come to relax after a long day or just to enjoy a bite to eat! 1 of the things I look for in sushi is the chef putting his flavors! Homeboy did not disappoint. If I have soy says and I don't touch it that means you have definitely made this man happy! Great selection of fish, not just your standard fish! Honestly I wasn't expecting this when I came in! Make sure to order the 'Black and Gold' bottle of sake -very delicious. Happy hour here rocks too! I have been dropping into this great sushi place for the past couple of months now and I really like the place. We came here expecting average sushi and that is what we got, but what blew us out of the water was the great service. we had a little issue were my wife's special request roll was done wrong and so a correction was made and the roll was delivered after everybody elses. The waitress brought complementary misso soup & tempura shrimp to make up for the mistake. The staff was very friendly and the prices were outstanding for lunch. Also of note was the fact that the place was kid friendly! We have a 2y/o and don't like bothering people with her occasional out bursts but we didn't get any dirty looks when we walked in with her and were brought crayons and coloring paper while we were seated. This is the best sushi by far in ventura county. When I come here everyone is so friendly, any server is awesome. It's nice to see when you go in a restaurant and the hostesses even help and don't just stand there when there not busy. They always seem to be doing something. The food is outstanding and so fresh, I love how they go out of there way to even make you something that's not even on the menu. All you have to do is ask. If you love loud rock n roll to complete your authentic Japanese sushi experience this is the place for you. Led Zeppelin and Metallica were just a couple of the lovely classics we enjoyed which was more than embarrassing as I was with my Japanese girlfriend just in recently from Tokyo. The service was about as fast as could be expected from one waitress handling the whole lunch rush and the food itself was not bad but not great. I noticed she put teriyaki and hot sauce on top. For some reason i thought it used to be all hot sauce. It wasn't spicy at all that's the only thing. Next time I'll ask for the sauce on the side to customize my preference. You get a lot of food for the price though and the quality is pretty good. it's no frills and they get you in and out quick. It's one of those classic Simi hole-in-the-wall places that's probably been here forever, quietly serving good food without all the hype. The quality is solid. The teriyaki sauce has a unique flavor -- not the typical overly sweet chain-style sauce -- and while it caught me off guard at first, it actually works. It's different in a good way. The chicken and beef both had a nice smoky flavor, and the meats were tender and juicy. The vegetables were cooked perfectly (still fresh with a little bite), and the rice was fluffy and tasted fresh. Everything felt freshly made. Service was fast -- my food was ready in about 2-3 minutes. Super efficient. The place is clean, and the staff is friendly and focused. Great quick lunch or easy dinner spot if you're in the area.
