Volcano and caterpillar baked rolls
CJ D.

Laidback ambiance, nice for our family gathering. Excellent customer service, very attentive & kind. Food was delightful. We especially enjoyed the baked rolls - we got the volcano & caterpillar. Shoutout to the scallop sunrise roll, real yummy!

Brussel Sprouts

Stopped in tonight for a light dinner. I ordered the Brussel sprouts appetizer to start. It was good, but large. I ended up taking half home. I got the Dinner Bento. It was a very generous bento with Sush, sashimi a California Roll. I opted for the Salmon Teryiaki. It was a large piece of salmon! The benyo also had a salad, miso soup, 2 thousand and mixed tempura. All was good. It was more than a light dinner with the larger servings, but I enjoyed it. The service was good, but a slight mix up with the check that was quickly corrected. All in all a decent dinner

I highly recommend this restaurant and will be revisiting again 1. Very good food and friendly staff 2. Clean restrooms with Ac 3. Not crowded

First Time attending this restaurant. It was good. Paul the owner was phenomenal. He was attentive and very accommodating. Nice quiet atmosphere. I ordered the bento box. The chicken is very tender and has a good flavor. The ambiance was cool with spacious seating enormous menu to choose from and easy parking

Nice friendly and attentive staff. Great tasting rolls and fresh great fish. A bit warm inside on this particular day but wasn't too uncomfortable. Plenty of parking. Now talking about it I want to go back.

My first time here 9/26/2025, came when it opened We ordered a rainbow roll and a Cali roll and vegetable fried rice Everything was delicious!!!!! The service was attentive, we were also greeted right when we stepped in . The ambiance was very natural Not like other places being over cluttered . Employees are also nice . No complaints . Will come again when I'm back in town .

My new favorite local place. I was looking for another sushi restaurant to try in my neighborhood. Tokyo Sushi offers fresh fish and seafood at reasonable prices with nice portions. They have a large full menu for any kind of Japanese cravings! A chill environment with tv screens. Attentive and friendly service. Delicious food along with a comfortable environment ignites great conversations and time. We'll be back to try more items. =)

Crispy rice with spicy tuna

Perfection is what I call the sushi at Tokyo. Beautifully presented, delicious crispy rice spicy tuna, served in bite sized pieces. Bento box lunch is an amazing value, and specialty sushi is a delight to the eyes, before the palate. Highly recommended restaurant in Simi Valley, hidden gem. Our server was extremely helpful too.

This restaurant is very over priced. 5 pieces of Takoyaki for more than $17 is crazy. In Japan, 10 pieces for $3.

I'm a big sushi restaurant fan and usually drive into the city for high end sushi spots. I actually…read morefound this place by accident near my house, and I'm so happy I did. The restaurant is small with a quiet and relaxing atmosphere, and the food was honestly some of the best I've had. Everything tasted fresh, high quality, and made with care. The toro tartare was a standout dish, and the salmon sashimi was amazing. The service was also incredible and very patient. Even when we finished, the waitress walked me to the door, which was a really nice touch. I'll definitely be coming back. Prices are a little expensive, but if you appreciate quality sushi, it's absolutely worth it.

Chef Jae guides you through a thoughtfully crafted $190 18 course "Taste Forest" that's sure to delight. When my husband and I showed up at the neighboring lounge (which does not open before the first Omakase dining slot at 5:30 pm), we weren't quite sure what to expect. When we told them we were there for the Omakase dinner at 5:30 pm, the staff kindly let us in out of the heat while they continued to prepare the space for service in both the lounge and restaurant. They don't have a liquor license so all cocktails are sake-based, but none the less enjoyable. They also offer beer and wine. We were offered a menu while we waited, and yes - any drink you purchase in the lounge may accompany you to your dining experience. You can also add on a sake-pairing to your omakase meal for $55 each. We very much enjoyed a Yuzu Cocktail and the sake pairing. The customer service was fantastic, personable, and filled with intention - but if I were to provide constructive criticism - somewhat clumsy on the delivery. Chef Jae had everyone introduce themselves and included a Chef mentee on finishing up the plating of the sushi. Chef Jae is talkative and clearly enjoys speaking with guests - this all lends itself to the homey feel of the experience - but some staff were so soft-spoken it was difficult to hear them as they introduced our sake pairings, and sometimes the service seemed poorly timed with the courses. I think with a little rehearsal of how they want to approach dinner service (mainly timing, introduction and flow) would provide some more confidence and better execution of the experience they clearly wished to impart. The food was fantastic, and truly felt like a journey. Everything is prepared in house, and of the best quality. My husband and I are sure to be thinking about our experience here for a long time, and will be recommending others to come check it out. Note: If an omakase experience is not in your budget, they also offer ala carte items.

This reservation took a full year to secure and I would gladly wait another year to experience it again. The hardest reservation in Ventura County? Without a doubt. Worth it? YES doesn't even begin to cover it. Dining at Sushi Tanaka is an experience in itself, especially in the presence of a legend like Chef Sei Tanaka. He is warm yet serious, focused yet playful and his dishes speak volumes. Every bite is layered with personality and skill. On the night we came in, my dearest friend Leslie and I had the entire restaurant to ourselves. I can't explain how we had an entire seating to just us but it was magical and intimate. We dinned on 18 courses, each one a surprise more delicious than the last. You just sit back and the chef chooses each bite for you. We've never had octopus so impossibly tender it melted in our mouths. Ice cold sake, warm fish soup, literally I could go on and on about this meal. Choosing favorites feels almost wrong because every course was exceptional, but if forced, the Santa Barbara uni on wagyu, Japanese scallop, Sea bream, and Toro with uni were some of the most impressive and unforgettable bites I've ever had. Never did I imagine that the best sushi I've ever experienced in Ventura County would be found in Simi Valley, but here we are. What an absolute treasure this city holds. I truly hope everyone gets the opportunity to support and experience this extraordinary omakase at least once in their life.

This is worth the coins, gas and time. When you get there it is the one sushi chef and whoever else has a reservation. The night was filled with delicious kanpachi, salmon, uni, oyster, caviar, scallop, nigiri, tuna and so much more. It was a couple of hours of endless sushi, sashimi, salad and even some miso soup. It is not an easy reservation to get but totally worth it about $100 or more per person but it's alot of food. So make sure to make room. Great for a dat or a group of friends. The chef is so patient, kind and he explains every dish. He also has a nice playlist of blues music playing throughout our dinner. It helps to take you into a different place. 10 out of 10 i recommend.
