Proof they offer Korean instant noodles. This price is lowkey outrageous, to boil 1 pack of noodles, but maybe they dress it up

The review you've all been waiting for: A real, honest to God, Asian person reviewing this Asian restaurant. (Jump down to the last paragraphs if you wanna skip my very well-written, but mildly funny (at best) origin story) One of my coworkers asked me if I've heard of this new restaurant called "Terry Time." I immediately waved them away because since when did I start working at the Moorpark Dept of Tourism? Then I realized why I think they asked me: It wasn't some diner owned by a person named Terry. It was teri with an "i." As in short form for teriyaki. You get what I'm saying now. But no, I was not some Professor X of Asian restaurants, where I connect to a helmet that identifies every new Asian joint that pops up around the world. Plus, teriyaki is Japanese, and I'm very obviously Taiwanese (You can tell by looking at me, Google it, but don't ever trust the AI results. Do better). I ignored the potential microaggression and agreed that we should give them a test ride. At the end of the day, yes, teriyaki is not something I normally have (See: My ethnicity), but I'm always down to eat some steamed white rice and meat (pause). What really sold me was the low cost! $12 for a lunch special In this economy?? I was in. The first couple times I've gotten it, my aforementioned colleagues (who I'm sure have now completed implicit bias trainings and are outstanding model citizens) picked up orders for me. Hey, they offered. The food was always still surprisingly, warm which was cool. However, the one time I did go pick it up (Look at me, I'm a team player), I waited like 15 mins after ordering before leaving to pick it up. When I got there, I think the lady working nervously realized they were running behind. She anxiously told me they were still working on my order still (I think the order was for like 3 or 4 ppl). I ended up standing around for another 10 mins or so before it was finally ready. Total wait time was about 30 mins, which is kinda wild. That said, I wasn't too annoyed cause they're a small Asian business. Plus they were super sweet with some of the other customers that I saw come and go. There's a small little charter school next door and this young student came in and nervously stuttered out, "Hi, I'm sorry. I got my food earlier, but I forgot to pick up the drink I bought," as their adult chaperone stood by the entrance with their arms folded like, "Is my student tryin to play me?" The worker replied, "Oh, no problem! Go ahead and grab one from the fridge." The girl snatched one and swiftly left. I hope she actually paid for it. Then the worker then gave me a respectful head nod like, "Don't worry brotha, I'ma get that order to you ASAP." When it was finally put together, she kept apologizing for the wait, saying they were just really busy. My usual grumpy and impatient self gave her a Daenerys Targaryen squint smile and let her know it wasn't a problem, and I'm just glad they're doing well (For the record, I was getting hangry and grumpy, but I know the shared Asian guilt we all carry, especially in a place of work, so I wanted to quell any hard-feelings). Food's good. Surprisingly good. The lonché especial has solid portion sizes. At the price & convenience though, you gotta bump it up a few grades. There's a service fee for paying card I think, but that's a classic Asian spot move. Takes a while during their busy lunch hour like I mentioned, so make sure you order in advance. Chicken teri 5/5 - Nice char and faint smokey taste, not overly drowned with sauce. Nice small bite size pieces. No notes. Beef teri 3.5/5 - Plain compared to the chicken, but it's alright. Shredded beef ala Hawaiian bbq style, but needs a little somethin like roasted sesame seeds. CA roll 3/5 - Basically the basic b roll you would expect. Not bad, not good. Probably don't ever need to order this, respectfully. Shrimp tempura 5/5 - The one I had was lightly fried well, just the right tempura batter taste. Crispy, yet good Q from the shrimp. Orange chicken 4.5/5 - Am I embarrassed I ordered it? Yes. But was it good? Yes, imo. Not as monstrously sized/overly breaded like the ones from Panda (Sorry, Panda catchin strays here). Good texture and flavor. Miso soup 4/5 - Solid tasty add-on, great way to wrap up a lunch. Could use more tofu, but seaweed suffices. Btw, I think this place is owned by Koreans (they have a buncha Korean instant noodles in the front), but it's not uncommon to see Korean owners open Japanese/Chinese restaurants. Little factoid for you, for free.

    Jalapeño tempura

All the food we tried was amazing! Super clean inside, we were greeted as soon as we came in. The orange chicken box was delicious, my fav was the tempura veggies. The teriyaki bowl was delicious also we did it with fried rice and it was so good.

It was too good sorry couldn't take a before pic :) that's how good it was haha

We tried this place and it was very good. The service, the place and of course the food. We had the teriyaki chicken bowl with bean and sprouts. Also the veggie tempura. Everything was very good. Glad we found this gem. For us is worth the drive from Camarillo.

$8.99 for a chicken teriyaki bowl with noodles and veggies!!! Count me in the chicken was good the veggies were good the noddles were also good (just a little chewy but I came at the lunch rush). I only waited around 8 minutes for my bowl to be done which I think was supper quick. And also it's a cute little restaurant and is super close to Moorpark College which is a huge plus. Overall the bowl was very well balanced though I do wish there was more veggies. Overall 9/10

We tried the Red Dragon roll, California hand roll with soy paper, Albacore delight sushi and a Bento box with Teriyaki chicken sashimi. The items we tried were all good, however, service was a bit slow. Staff were all nice, but seemed to be very busy since this sushi spot had AYCE sushi also. Overall, if you are not in a rush and want some good sushi, come check this spot out.

The little bowl of ginger they serve had a long hair in it. They replaced it quickly but it was gross. Then we ordered our sushi and my husband prefers cooked while I prefer raw. The cooked sushi all came out meanwhile I waited for my poke sushi. Finally I asked and the woman said she forgot. So by the time my sushi came my husband was done. It was annoying bc if he waited his would've gotten cold and then he waited around for me after. It wasn't very busy at all it was 2pm on a week day so I wonder how they do on busy days. The sushi itself was so tasty. The blue crab with crispy rice was delicious. The poke sushi was wonderful. And the fantasy roll was also great. We had another roll but I forgot the name. Definitely will be back for the sushi alone:

It's not my preferred activity to pan a local independent business. The last time Dear Hubby and I…read morestopped in was not as good as the time before, though. The food was just so-so, and maybe I just chose wrong? The name "California Bowl" to me doesn't suggest a particular type of Asian cuisine, so I was confused about there not being dumplings. The only kind they really have are the shape of potstickers, but they are only fully fried. I ended ordering the Shrimp Udon, and it was just okay. Challenging to eat without getting broth everywhere, actually. DH and I did share an order of the fried dumplings and they were too well cooked for my preference. DH wasn't in the mood for sushi, but I think that would have been a better choice here that the noodles. I'd personally like more vegetables as part of the offerings. The restaurant was clean. Service was okay, if on the austere side. I was still craving the food from my new local favorite place when we left after our short visit to California Bowl.

It's been around forever and they are very generous with their portion sizes for the price. Their gyoza sauce is delicious, it's sweet and very addictive. My only complaint is that the man at the front isn't very friendly and always seems very reluctant when I ask for extra gyoza sauce. I've mentioned multiple times that I'm willing to pay for additional sauce, but he still begrudgingly gives it to me. It does make me hesitate to go in as often because I feel like I have to practically beg for enough sauce to fully enjoy my meal. Aside from that, everyone else has always been very nice and polite. Overall, it's a great restaurant with delicious food.
