In the area, needing a bit of caffeine... so I decided on stopping by 118 Cafe. Menu here is so extensive that it was hard to choose on what to try. I decided on a fried ube snack and a milk tea with boba. My milk tea had a good amount of sweetness and quenched my craving for a little sweet, caffeinated beverage. The fried ube snack had only a hint of ube flavor and was freshly made to order. Everything here is priced point well, in comparison to other boba shops. Such a cute, kinda cozy local cafe shop with board games for customers and indoor seating. This cafe also sells crafts from local artists as well. Sorry I didn't take a pic of all the various items on sale here -but it's worth you coming out to check it all out. Located in a strip mall, tons of free parking. This cafe has some delicious teriyaki chicken and vegetable bowls. I usually buy a few and take them to work, which takes the work out of meal prepping. I've lost 4 lbs. so far! We stumbled upon 118 Cafe on a Thursday evening and thought we'd give it a try. They honored the Yelp check in special (free regular drink with purchase of 2 large drinks). Service: very friendly staff. They realized the menu was overcoming us, so the they were patient and gave good descriptions of the items on the menu. Venue: very cozy and inviting. It has a warm feel of a coffee shop in a book store, but with the sofas and decorations, it felt like we were in someone's living room. The parking is plentiful and it's quiet enough if you want to do some major studying. Food/drink: drinks were good. They all had good flavor, but the boba was not as soft as I'd like it. The food came out warm and was served in a very simple way, nothing fancy like you'd see in a restaurant. The menu is very large, so we would like to return to order other items. This is a nice place for a small dinner and spending time to study, read, or play board games. If you want a full meal, look for a restaurant. But this is a great place in Simi. read more

This is a great little spot with yummy menu options and great service. The dining area is cozily set up with several different furnishings that all marry well. The portions are on the smaller side, but right for the price. I had the (choose 3 items) snack platter with crispy lemon pepper chicken, steamed bbq pork bun, and crispy butterfly shrimp. Always an amazing time here! Isa (I think I spelled it right) is always amazing and so sweet. She always remembers everyone's names and orders (for repeat customers) and has an amazing attitude. Super cute little shop with croc charms for sale. Best boba always. We got the orange chicken, Korean bbq chicken, lavender earl grey milk tea, and strawberry matcha milk tea. My wife and I got two specialty drinks and two turkey croissant sandwiches, all very good. I got the coconut smoothie, and she got the strawberry/mango smoothie, YUM! The atmosphere is very relaxed and enjoyable. There's WiFi and couches to lounge on or tables to study at with your computer. You will also find a nice selection of board games which you can use while you eat/drink. There's even a large selection of magazines and newspapers to read from. We were happy with our experience. You can trust that the Thai iced tea, boba drinks, smoothies and coffees are all excellent. The croissants are also perfectly heated when used as a sandwich. This place is seriously worth visiting at least once if you ever go to Simi; first of all, the food is amazing, everything you find on the menu will not disappoint. Their drinks are the main reason I go there in the first place, they have the biggest variety of smoothies and they are ALL worth trying (personally I recommend the strawberry banana smoothie). The staff there is incredibly polite, super friendly and they are really welcoming. Calling this a nice cafe is an understatement, it feels almost like a safe haven. This is my first time coming here and I am shocked! The prices are so worth giving this place a try. I got the logan tea and it was refreshing! To snack on, I also got popcorn chicken (spicy) and mozzarella sticks to share with my boyfriend. Both were good and came out fairly quickly. This looks like the perfect place to sit down and study if you needed to. They have drinks and snacks to help you through your study sesh and have a couple of tables and couches you can sit at. The owner of the shop is so sweet and kind! I heard she has been running the shop for quite a few years now and I am impressed! I recently came here for the first time in over 8 years and boy, NOTHING HAS CHANGED. The owner, Isa, was still holding down the cafe with a warm welcome and smile. Back then, and to this day, 118 cafe still holds down as THE cafe that will make you feel at home. It's the coziest cafe I have ever been to. They have couches if you wanna relax and chairs if you wanna grind out some work or studying. This place has EXCEPTIONAL drinks, snacks, and meals CONSIDERING THE PRICE. There is no doubt you can get better drinks somewhere else, but it'll cost you easily double the price for a little increase in quality. It's really hard to beat and argue the prices here at 118 cafe. All I gotta say is that their boba could use some work. It was way too soft. I came in at closely to them opening, so I'm sure it was because their boba was definitely over cooked. I'm very impressed with how Isa was able to keep this shop going throughout covid and recent inflations. Wow I was really impressed with this cool little joint. The main focus seems to be boba tea but they have a huge menu of what you would consider snacks as opposed to full meals. Mostly a variety of pan-Asian items. The place is totally set up to come and hang out with friends, with several living room type settings and some cafe tables. Came here for some boba tea since I don't drink it much in Baltimore. I got the Taro with boba. It was a little sweeter than I'd prefer but creamy, cold and still delicious. The boba is perfectly cooked and chewy! I got my sister a matcha tea with boba. Hope she likes it. I also asked the owner what bowl was their best. She recommended the teriyaki chicken bowl. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and moist. It came with some rice and sliced cucumbers and the teriyaki sauce. The sauce was a little sweeter than I preferred but still a good accomplishment. 118 Cafe is a family favorite. My kids love their popcorn chicken. Their favorite Boba drink is the blueberry slushy. Isa is the best. She remembers us and our orders. I would call in when I picked up my son from school. She would recognize my voice and say, "Would you like your blueberry slushies, one with and one without Boba?" lol. So, we live in Simi Valley, basically the land of non-existent boba. Oh sure, there are places that serve drinks with Boba in Simi, but there are really nothing to write home about. 118 Cafe: My first encounter here was actually extremely pleasant. My daughter and I ordered some "snacks" of popcorn chicken and red bean sesame balls. The popcorn chicken was hot, but really chewy. The sesame balls were delicious actually, crispy outside with soft dough inside filled with sweet red bean paste. The tea: We both ordered lavender milk tea with boba and it was outstanding! We were so excited to find a place near us with a delicious brew of tea, just the right amount of flavor (lavender) and also perfectly cooked and chewy boba! Our thoughts that day: WE ARE DEFINITELY COMING BACK! The re-review: So I have been back to 118 twice after that fateful day, and have been extremely disappointed. Something is wrong with the tea preparation... The second time back having ordered just a jasmine milk tea with boba, the tea had a burnt or chemical taste to it. I have never throw away boba... but I did on this day. It occurred to me that I should have gone back and asked them to make me another, but I had gone too far (out of the parking lot) LOL! The third time, I stopped in with my daughter again, she had a blended drink (not tea) with boba and it was good. I ordered a milk tea drink with boba. Once again, the tea had that inexplicable chemical/burnt taste. Third times the charm, I will probably go back for the sesame balls or perhaps a blended drink, but I won't drink the tea anymore. I have been coming for years, so glad Lisa has been running this cute, detailed cafe since 2008. Adapting the name around 2010. She has introduced local artists and persisted through innovation. Holds events when more are attending, for now just few group gatherings from 5-8pm. Her Instagram was compromised unfortunately, so coming by and sharing memories is highly recommended. Very friendly workers. Pricing is decent, depending on what you're ordering. The menu is all over the place though, from American to Asian to a little in between. I ordered the vegetable and rice plate, some veggie spring rolls and a mango boba smoothie. Everything was really tasty and hot when it came out.
