Grilled beef kids meal
Laura N.

Bamboo cafe does not disappoint. The food is made so well here. They have many different Vietnamese dishes. We got the beef combination Pho, pork belly Bahn mi, sizzling skillet with bread, and a grilled beef kids meal. Everything they had was really good and the service was top notch. They make their bread fresh every day! Definitely one of the best Vietnamese restaurants I've been to in Ventura county. The restaurant is also very well kept and clean. We will definitely be back!

They did not work on my order till I got there at 3:32pm and I waited 15 minutes for them to make it. Terrible service!

I placed an online order with a scheduled pickup time of 3:30 PM. When I arrived, there were only about two customers seated and eating, and around four employees just standing around--so it clearly wasn't busy. I went up to the register, gave my name, and mentioned I was there to pick up my order. The employee checked and said it was ready, but it obviously wasn't. It seemed like they hadn't even looked at their online orders until I arrived. I ended up waiting an additional 15 minutes for food that was supposed to be ready at pickup time. That's unacceptable service, especially when the staff wasn't occupied. I've been a long-time customer, and I immediately knew something was off when I didn't see my order on the counter like it usually is. This experience was disappointing, and I hope the manager addresses this with the staff because this level of service isn't okay.

This is such a great place ! People need to give this location a chance I know there's a huge competitor across the street but I do believe this place is extremely comparable. You are served so quickly and they make sure your drinks and food are up to par. Get the brown sugar matcha with shrimp pho. You leave feeling good.

This is my second time at this café and the servers were fast. The food came out fast too. Last time I came I had a banh mi and it was pretty affordable and tasty. The small combination beef I ate was super flavorful. There was a plate of bean sprouts, Thai basil and lime, and jalapeño to add with the fur, which is a classic edition. I was ravenous after a late night study session and pho filled me back up.

Decided to try a new Pho place and this place didn't disappoint! I really enjoyed everything here! I got the House Special Pho which came with Beef, Shrimp & Beef Balls! It was a huge bowl! The Egg Rolls were very good as well! They forgot to make my Mango Slushy with Crystal Boba but they apologized and made it right away and after taking a sip, it was very refreshing! Amazing service and clean restaurant! I definitely want to come back and try other things on the menu because everything tasted delicious!

I needed a nourishing lunch. This place had the perfect vegan pho for me. Veggies were crisp & fresh. It was served with a lovely side of mung beans, Thai basil & spicy jalapeño. Service was prompt. I'll be back to try the vegan banh mi. :)

I looooove Bamboo Cafe. This is one of my favorite spots in my hometown. After moving back home, this was the first place I wanted to go to. Service is always very fast and helpful. I love getting the Thai Tea and the food is delicious. I typically get food to go here, but I also do enjoy dining in. There is plenty of seating, whether that be indoors or outdoors.

Ask the Community - Bamboo Cafe

When will you be opening back up?

The restaurant is opened. I went there today, 7/20/23. The place looks much better, cleaner. The food is good.

When are you guys going to open the restaurant back up?

Does the restaurant still do the Pho Bowl Challenge? If so, how much is it?

Hi sorry, we miss ur question! Pho real challenge is $30 if you don't finished, thanks

Are any of the soups made with vegetarian broth?

They do have vegetarian friendly part of the menu. I imagine the broth of the "vegetarian noodle soup" is made out of veggies.

Does Bamboo Cafe deliver? That would be epic, I would order every day

No, but if they did they would be at my house every day ?

The broth is rich and flavorful--you can tell it's been simmering for hours. Their menu is extensive, and the bahn-mi the best I've had. The French baguette is always fresh and crispy, whether it's baked in-house or sourced from a great local bakery. The barbecue pork is also well-marinated and packed with flavor. Sometimes I'll dine in for pho and other times I'll just grab a sandwich and spring rolls. Either way, it never disappoints. Easily the best pho spot in Ventura County by far. I prefer to eat the pho there in person, but the sandwiches and hot plates deliver well. You can order on postmates.

The pho broth is good and tasty but they put less meat in their bowls than other pho places. Spring rolls were lacking a lot of the typical herbs and flavorless. Service was poor. Spring rolls usually include mint and garlic chives. The ones here only came with lettuce and were thus super bland. We also ordered this right when we sat down yet they never came. I had to ask twice about the spring rolls. The rolls came at the very END of the meal after we were super full from eating pho, I was tempted to send them back but my partner still wanted them. It was disappointing though. When we were ready to pay, they said go up front to pay. Whereas earlier they were bringing the bill to the tables. We went up front. There was a long line of people all waiting to pay. I felt disappointed again. I don't know if I'll be back. I'm going to give the other pho places a try before I decide. If I do come back, it's pho only and not expect much from service.

I actually had high hopes for this place. After seeing the good reviews from fellow yelpers and a…read morerecommendation from someone, I had to try it out for myself. Just like a lot of pho places, they're in a strip mall of some sort. This one was part of a mini corner lot with parking available. A small lot but decent. We were meeting some friends for dinner which we arrived before they did. Friday night thinking it would be mobbed but there were actually loads of tables available. Everyone that was already seated were utilizing the booths that surround the restaurant. In the middle are tables which weren't utilized. We got seated along the tables where the windows are off the street side. At the beginning, service was great. Menus were brought out which they practically had everything on it. Your traditional Vietnamese dishes, hot pot as well as well as seafood boil. It was quite impressive which was also a good thing and something we wanted to check out. It did take us a while to order as there was so much to go through as they all looked quite interesting. I tend to know what I want but still, everything looked quite good. Started off with some beers while still going through the menu. From there we ordered some starter of the shrimp spring rolls and banh xeo (Vietnamese pancakes). Springs roll, 2 per order but cut in half's to 4 pieces. Nothing special about them. Banh xeo on the other hand was quite tasty with just the right amount of crispy ness and stuffed with shrimp and accompanied by the greens. That was a tasty dish and i do recommend it. The sauces that come with the roll and pancakes were quite nice too. As for entrees, it was a mixture of everything. I love me some oxtail pho. Which they had the X-Large oxtail pho. First impressions, there was nothing X-Large about it. The size was pretty much basic. But they did give a good option of the oxtail which was nice. Broth was ok, and the condiments that came with it minus the green pepper (jalapeño) which wasn't there is alway good added. It's wasn't what I expected. There was also two order of the banh mi, one with shrimp and the other with beef. Out of the two, the shrimp was way better. I do like it with a lot of the pickle veggies and jalapeño which would have been great. The beef on the other hand, it was a major miss. I expected grilled beef chunks of some sort but when it was brought out, it was basically thin slices. A major fail. Also an order of the fries which had a nice dipping sauce both ketchup and aioli. Lastly, an order of the fried shrimp. That was quite nice with big size shrimp and batter and fried to a nice golden crisp. Served with both ketchup and aioli sauce too. The food was ok, nothing major to rave about with what we ordered. Banh xeo and the fried shrimp was a hit. The other, oxtail pho and banh mi were a dud. But after the starters came out, we had emptied bottle and the emptied plates that needed to be taken away for room. When one of the servers came out with the pho, we asked if they could clear the table a bit so there would be room for the entrees, he just brushed it off as it wasn't his job. Ok, understandable but he then just pointed to someone else and just walked away. Another entree came out which, we literally had to explain to him that there were no room for the plates. Even with us gathering them and to show him and with the bottles. We actually had to flag one of the host guys down to actually help clear the table. Mind you, only the booths were utilized and it was still hard trying to get someone's attention. Even with the bill which we also couldn't get anyone's attentions. I had to walk up to get someone's to acknowledge us. Overall, I expected to much from all the great reviews from fellow yelpers. Could just be the night we went with the service. The place wasn't crowded which it was still a little ordeal. Overall, they'll have a good clientele and regulars. I expected too much from this place with high hopes but I don't think I'll be back. The menu is quite impressive which is a plus. But our visit, it was lacking.

The place itself is not that big, maybe 8 tables throughout? They looked short staffed because the person cleaning up the tables was also the person taking the orders and bringing the food, while it seemed like only one person was working in the kitchen. Nonetheless, service was good and the wait was worth the quality. They've got some other viet staples like banh beo and banh xeo which I have to try at a later time. We ended up getting the fried calamari as an appetizer and it was surprisingly good like Italian restaurant quality, and of course eggrolls. The eggrolls were fresh and crispy and I appreciated that they actually give you a lot of lettuce and herbs to wrap with them. For the mains we got the bun cha Hanoi and bun thit nuong. I think without the appetizers the portion sizes were a little smaller than I would've hoped for but the taste of both were good. Service is prompted with water as well as an explanation of some of the items on the menu, which is great if you're new to the menu items. I ordered the spring rolls and the pho special which were promptly served with very clean plates and bowls. Moreover, the utensils are also ultra clean with the chop sticks which are sealed in a paper packet. Prices are also very reasonable so I'm sure you'll be happy with the value for money.
