I wanted to love this place since it's one of 3 Vietnamese restaurants in a 20 mile radius of Thousand Oaks. The pho broth is good and tasty but they put less meat in their bowls than other pho places. Spring rolls were lacking a lot of the typical herbs and flavorless. Service was poor. Spring rolls usually include mint and garlic chives. The ones here only came with lettuce and were thus super bland. We also ordered this right when we sat down yet they never came. I had to ask twice about the spring rolls. The rolls came at the very END of the meal after we were super full from eating pho, I was tempted to send them back but my partner still wanted them. It was disappointing though. When we were ready to pay, they said go up front to pay. Whereas earlier they were bringing the bill to the tables. We went up front. There was a long line of people all waiting to pay. I felt disappointed again. I don't know if I'll be back. I'm going to give the other pho places a try before I decide. I love this spot--it always hits whenever I'm craving pho. I usually go for the filet and almost always order extra because they're generous with the portions and definitely don't skimp on the protein. The broth is rich and flavorful--you can tell it's been simmering for hours. Their menu is extensive, and the bahn-mi the best I've had. The French baguette is always fresh and crispy, whether it's baked in-house or sourced from a great local bakery. The barbecue pork is also well-marinated and packed with flavor. Sometimes I'll dine in for pho and other times I'll just grab a sandwich and spring rolls. Either way, it never disappoints. Easily the best pho spot in Ventura County by far. I don't understand how this place has solid reviews. Lots of things were wrong about the food.. here's how it went. We came here on a Saturday at approximately 5:45pm I chose this restaurant due to the reviews... When we came inside, we were greeted right away and brought to a table. We were given menus promptly and brought us iced waters. We were given about 5 minutes to look at the menu before being asked if we were ready, and cues of being ready were there, as I was looking around at the interior decor instead of the menu. We ordered a Pho Dac Biet, which is the special. A rice dish with combination meats, charbroiled beef, chicken and pork. Lastly, we also ordered a Banh Mi Dac Biet. The Pho is a 2 out of 5. The broth is ok. Typically, a Dac Biet would come with some rare round of eye, tripe, brisket, and white onion, green onion and cilantro. Theirs is not typical, it did not come with tripe, but instead, it came with some meatballs and some tendon. The round of eye and the meatballs were good. The brisket was underdone, and very, very chewy. The tendon was very under as well, not even edible or chewable. The sides for the pho only came with a small piece of basil, what?! The rice dish.. all the meats were thin cut with char lines. The chicken is white meat, so it was dry. The beef was dry and chewy. The pork was ok, not great. The rice was cooked very well, probably perfect. The veggies on the dish were good. The banh mi, oh no! First, it was not hot and toasty. It was not crisp. It was old and chewy. Then the meats, all wrong. Wrong meat choices. Char-sui meat, dry-as-hell. The pork loaf meat, dry-as-hell. The other red-ish meat, dry too. This sandwich, dry-as-hell. Not enough mayo, not enough pate. Dry sandwich, very dry, the worst I've had! The service was ok. The inside screams bar-be-quê restaurant. The outside says and makes it look like a cafe. It's all a weird mix. Lighting is romantic, but should be well-lit instead. The ideas of what "Vietnamese" romantic cafe is, this just doesn't fit the bill. Good service and the food came out super quickly! We all ordered the pho and everyone was satisfied with their order. I found it to be a nice sized portion, very well flavored and ample meat. I also ordered the spring rolls and although the menu says mint under the ingredients, there is no mint. So CROSS OUT the mint on the menu. I specifically ordered it because it said mint on the menu. As a person who lives really close to this restaurant, I'm personally embarrassed that it's taken me this long to stop by lol but hey, there are so many food places, and so little time! With the rainy weather and gloomy days, I had been craving pho so badly. I looked for local pho spots that I hadn't tried yet. I saw this restaurant and was impressed with their good reviews. Also some of my friends had raved about this spot so I knew I needed to come. On a rainy day, it is key to come here right at opening. I came 10 minutes after opening and already a good amount of tables were taken. By the time I was leaving, there were no open tables so this is definitely a popular spot when the weather gets a bit cooler. I was impressed though with the service! As busy as the restaurant became, the staff never missed a beat. They were super attentive, and the meal was extremely well paced. I never felt rushed, but when I was ready to go, they got me out quickly. They have a pretty big menu so there are a lot of options to choose from. The food and drinks were hands-down a +10 out of 10. I started with an ice lychee tea with rainbow jelly and that was super tasty and refreshing. For my appetizer I had their fried shrimp and those were definitely made fresh to order. The grilled onion and shrimp combo was super tasty... And it's fried so you can't go wrong. For my main meal, I had a classic round eye beef pho. The broth was well developed, and the noodles were perfectly tender. It was a great bowl of soup and exactly what I wanted. On top of the food being really good and the service stellar, I will say this is a great value. I can't believe I was able to get a specialty tea, appetizer and a giant bowl of suit for $25. This is honestly one of the best values I've had locally for such a filling meal. The interior was very cozy and cute, a clean restaurant and overall very welcoming. This is just what the doctor ordered. This restaurant has a beautiful menu, but I had to go for the old standby my favorite beef.Pho!! It was delicious and I ordered my favorite café sua da or Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk. This is perfect because Vietnamese food often times because of the noodles and some of the fat Ynez tends to put you in carb crash or food, territory, so the coffee wakes you right up. The spring rolls or as I know them as Gua cuon I absolutely delicious and incredibly beautiful appetizer. This is exactly why I love Vietnamese food. It's straight to the point and you never have to wait very long. I do love the Pho at this place! I stopped by for lunch and it did not disappoint. Its a small restaurant with a nice modernish look on the inside and it was very clean. The service was quick and friendly. My order was out in like 2 minutes!! I ordered the PH3 which is a spicy pho option that was phenomenal. I have a high spicy tolerance so I felt this was perfect but if you don't have a high tolerance I can see this being spicy for you. As soon as it hits your table you can smell the saw leaf, garlic, and chili sate hit your noise. The eye round steak was delicious and the meat balls were juicy and flavorful. The rice noodles are on the thinner side, I wish they were slightly thicker but it does not take away from the food itself. The broth was amazing!! Even though I was full I didn't want to leave a drop behind. The best part is that they move quickly here, so if I am around and don't have a lot of time, I would not hesitate to stop by because everyone was being served efficiently. A1 & A2 - 3.5 stars, good had better, not salty, individual dips were tasty, PH1 - 4.5 stars, broth was so good, I detected slight gamey wafts from the meats, which was fixed by the sprigs of basil & mint leaves, lime, and jalapeño slices S4 - 5 stars - the charbroiled lemon grass beef complimented the vermicelli, carrots, cucumbers, and crushed peanuts. Mango shake - 2 stars overly sweet and artificial mango flavor. Honey ginger tea - 5 stars - perfect sweetness with fresh julienned ginger. Food is great. Got a brisket pho and a chicken banh mi, the broth was a good balance of sweet, salty, and umami while keeping a clean profile, noodle texture wasn't anything special but still good. As an onion hater, I am happy that they gave all mung bean sprouts and not a mix of sprouts and onion I usually see (there is a few slices in the soup though) so if you're an onion lover you're going to have to request it. Chicken sandwich was good too, smoky chicken while still feeling not dry with the jalapeño, cucumber, and carrots. Also comes with pickled onions inside? I took those out, but they're pretty tasty. Pho came out really quick while the sandwich took a while longer. Ambiance is interesting, there's patriotic American decorations around the wall for veterans, the dodgers, America in general that look more fit for a man cave at home than a restaurant but it's fun. My coworker recommended me this place after I mentioned how I was craving Viet food. Arrived here for dinner after work. There was plenty of parking outside. Upon walking in, I was quickly seated. Seating is efficiently spaced out inside. Menu was easy to interpret with pictures of the dishes on them. Ordered a Dry Noodle with pork and seafood, which also came with a small sauce bowl and a good-sized soup bowl. Let me tell you that their bowl is massive. My palm can only cover 1/4 of the bowl. This bahn mi is tightly wrapped with all the usual fixins. Not too pickly and just enough jalapeño slices to give it that nice spice. I would order again. *** Important *** Vegetarians/vegans - please make sure to ask for a vegetarian dipping sauce. The marinade they use is oyster sauce. Shaken Tofu ($10.25, Grade A) - Fried marinated tofu with garlic, white onion and spices. Topped with scallions and cilantro served with Jasmine rice. The tofu was actually juicy. Great flavor. Recommended. Bottom line: Fast and friendly service. Food is flavorful and hot. When I'm in town, Love Pho definitely can satisfy my bahn mi cravings. We got two PH1, one PH5, and a house milk tea w/ boba to-go and I loved that the pho was very organized and easy to "assemble" when we got home. It was the perfect amount of broth-noodle-meat ratio for all the items! The service was efficient for a takeout order and they gave us lots of sauces without even being asked which was much appreciated! Don't get me wrong, the food was awesome, but their boba is AMAZING. Stopped by this place today. The quality of the food has suffered, as compared to pre-pandemic. I ordered the Pho Number 1 which is their house special. The pho was served not hot enough. The beef was more than half fat. The meatball was tough. And there was a mystery chunk of pure beef fat. I last ordered from here last night for take out. The vegetarian pho was lovely. The almond milk tea was yummy, and the tapioca boba was fabulous too. I definitely plan to try the other milk tea options. Prices are decent for the area. The restaurant does not offer online ordering on the website. It also looks like you can't order via Yelp. I recently had an urge for my favorite Vermicelli pick and mix salad and they were closed so I went to another spot in Ventura on telephone that had nowhere near the variety of toppings that I get here. The so called "wagyu" didn't hold up to the quality of seasoning and made to order quality I get at Love pho. I live a mile from Love Pho and have for years. I've always thought about going in just never did. I had a terrible day today and realized I hadn't eaten in 24hrs. I called and got the Lemongrass Beef Bahn Mi, a passion fruit iced tea with coconut jelly and I asked for a side of peanut sauce in case I needed it to make the sandwich better. I just finished up and not only do I feel so much better with a belly full of delicious food but Love Pho exceeded my expectations. I only used a tiny bit of my peanut sauce (cause I like it) and it was so good. I will definitely be back. Not for the tea tho. It was too strong an artificial flavor for me. Portions were large and the service was fine; a bit mediocre, actually, but the server was a younger guy with headphones in as he worked (maybe family business?) so I won't take it personally.
