I have been here for like 4th time now and there food is still exceptional! Their lunch special is really good. They say it is smaller portions but it is a great size! It even comes with egg rolls and a salad so it is VERY worth it! It's even less than the price of the normal dish! Service is great and it was not too crowded so the ambiance was nice. I highly recommend getting their lunch special when you are here! read more

We came here a while back and all I can say is the experience was bizarre. We were seated next to a table of people who acted as if they hadn't eaten in three weeks. Smacking and burping, didn't know how to use napkins, passing food around, scraping it onto plates and into boxes, making a mess. The waiter had all the right words but didn't deliver. By the time he checked back with us, we were done eating. Never mind. But the weirdest thing was, when he finally checked back, we asked for a refill of iced tea. He said each of us could have one. ONE refill. Got it? The atmosphere was ok. I wouldn't recommend it for date night, in fact, I wouldn't recommend it at all. There are better places that treat you like an adult and don't attract pigs. In response to the owners comment. The only confusion about the refill situation should solely be placed on the server. We are grownups with a sophisticated background in restaurant patronage. It's hard to misinterpret , "You each can have one." I also don't need a lecture on "different cultures". I've been exposed to different cultures, and I also know low-lifes when I see them. Don't assume there's nothing you can do to mitigate the pig factor. The waiter could have cleared some plates and offered to pack up some food, and brought the check asap. That is, recognize the feed-trough tendencies and expedite their exit. read more

Horrible experience. We used to be regulars too. We had hair in our food and owner refused to acknowledge our findings. read more

Yum!!! We do take out here semi-regularly. Always happy! Favorites: Pho with Rib-eye (hubby doesn't like spicy so we omit the sliced jalapenos), Avocado Green Curry (sooo good if you like avocados....we get it mild with Chicken), Pad Thai Shrimp or Chicken (sometimes we get extra peanuts), and our major favorite, Lomo Saltado (we usually get the Steak but the Chicken is great too). The slightly spicy green sauce that comes on the side with the Saltado is so delicious!! Dip your fries and steak in it!! Take out service always good and ordering on-line is easy. Oh yea, sometimes we share a Thai Ice Tea too : - ) Love having this place so close to home!! read more

Really great food! I love Asian food and I rate Sweet Rice Kitchen among the best. Don't let the lack of ambiance in the restaurant keep you from trying this place. And the servers are very friendly. read more

Another review here said it best...I cannot believe this place is just casually serving FIRE Vietnamese and Thai food under one roof at Janss. This place is one of my favorite places to eat in the Conejo Valley. I've loved their menu even before the rebrand! Now Sweet Rice Kitchen is back with even more flavorful dishes and bigger portions. My go-tos are their pho (still need to try the post-rebrand version) and pad see ew. I love how light their pad see ew is - not too salty or sauced. If you're down for something more rich and sweet/savory, get the Khao Soi. There was so much meat and noodles that I couldn't finish my bowl! Tips: I recommend ordering all their dishes "spicy." I did not get any spice even with a "mild" level. And always order a Thai iced tea to go with your meal! read more

As we entered, we were immediately greeted and the waitress seemed busy and asked us to grab menus as we went ahead and sat ourselves. We looked over the menu for a few minutes and then she came by and asked if we were ready to order. We were still looking at the menu, so she came back a few minutes later. We were now ready and placed our order. We went with pad see ew with shrimp, veggie egg rolls, house fried rice with chicken, and papaya salad. It is so nice and inviting inside, with the sounds of the wok being worked. Everything came out pretty quickly, and the food and service are amazing as usual! Everything was well made. The flavors are great, the ratios are perfect, the amounts were right. It was all good!!! Definitely give this place a try! read more

It would have been a five star review except for some missteps in service. A group of us went on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch. The place wasn't crowded so we were seated right away. Everyone ordered various dishes. I had the spicy eggplant and the Lomo Saltado with tofu. They were both delicious. The problem was with one of the dishes. Someone in our group also ordered the Lomo Saltado with beef but for some reason it was taking forever to come. Everyone else got their dishes except that one. We had to ask the server a few times. When it did come out it had the wrong protein, they brought it out with tofu instead of the beef. I felt bad for my friend. Not only did she have to wait a long time for her food but it came out incorrectly. She told the server but she went ahead and accepted it. I think she didn't want to wait again. The server at that point should have been more apologetic and even possibly offered a complimentary drink to compensate for their mistake. I was a bit disappointed in the lack of service recovery. Good thing the dishes were tasty and most likely we will be back again. Hopefully the service will be better next time. read more

Delicious pho and honestly such a great experience. Being pregnant makes me extra picky about cleanliness and meat quality, and this place totally passed the test -- super clean, fresh ingredients, and the meat was high quality with zero gristly bits (which I really appreciated). Everything was flavorful, service was quick and friendly, and I'll definitely be back. read more

Came to have lunch, after the gym, and recall there was a ownership change. I was super hungry and wanted try 2 dishes however wanted it in " to go" boxes , so I can pack them up. The server was very friendly and understood wanting to nibble on two meals. The drunken noodles with beef was awesome! I had it medium spice level, however it felt kinda hotter than that however it was tolerable to devour. Great portions and good amount of vegetables & meat. Their other speciality ( per their menu) is orange chicken however they use thigh meat. I typically don't order this dish but the impulse was there and must go forward. It was also very good. I also had a Vietnamese coffee to enjoy. There is plenty of seating inside and outside patio. Would return. read more

ambiance is casual. Service is done by young bloods lol I mean younger generations- our server was nice and accommodating, very sweet and knowledgeable, but it's like we have to ask for everything. We ordered chicken curry that has soup or juice in it, and we had to ask for spoon on several times... we had to ask for water and straws and napkins. Sweet Rice Kitchen is like if your ex finally went to therapy and came back as a bowl of noodles. Emotionally supportive and a little bit spicy. Walked in and immediately knew this place slapped because it smells like lemongrass, fish sauce, and childhood trauma I never dealt with. Tiny spot in Janss Marketplace just casually serving Thai and Vietnamese like it's no big deal. Pad Thai on one side, pho on the other - it's giving "joint custody but it works." Garlic noodles with ribeye: Whoever came up with ribeye garlic noodles needs to be monitored by the government. Steaming bowl shows up and I'm like, "Oh cool, I didn't want to fit in my jeans this week anyway." Tender steak, buttery noodles, enough garlic to make sure nobody kisses you till Wednesday. 10/10 would ruin a date with this again. Pho ribeye: Clear, rich broth, noodles on point, ribeye just floating in there like it pays rent. This isn't soup; this is a warm, beefy hug for people who say they're "fine" but are clearly not fine. Spring rolls & apps: The fresh rolls pull up looking like they eat cleaner than you, your friends, and your entire family tree combined. Crispy egg rolls? Burn-your-mouth good. You know they're fresh because you will bite into them too fast and immediately regret your life choices. Service is that wholesome "are you okay?" energy. They're open every day for lunch and dinner, which is dangerous because now I'm one minor inconvenience away from ordering noodles like it's emotional support takeout. Overall: Sweet Rice Kitchen is a 5/5 "I might accidentally fall in love with the owner" type spot. If you see me in there housing garlic noodles alone in the corner... read more

After witnessing the cook sneeze repeatedly and then handle my food, the microwave, and the rice bag without proper hygiene, I requested cancellation of my order. The cashier informed me that the refund process would take several days or potentially just 10 minutes. Not only was I disturbed by the cook's actions, but I was also told to expect a delay in receiving my refund of $71.52. (while I waited to get a VOIDED receipt, two ladies overheard my conversation with Miguel, the cashier, and promptly exited.) The cook handling food without proper hygiene warrants consideration for him to receive the "Worst Employee Of The Year Award. Due to this incident, my experience at Ot Bistro is a negative star review (also I do not have any comments about the ambiance because in this situation the ambiance is irrelevant.) read more

This Restaurant is located in the Janss Marketplace very close by Janss Regal movie theater & Gold's Gym, Thousand Oaks, CA . Upon entering we notice how super cleaning & very organize it is inside. We were greeted by our waiter Dejon. Dejon was super knowledgeable about the dishes, we did have some questions about some, but he answered them all beautifully! We noticed how sweet, kind, caring and very genuine person he is! He has this positive upbeat personality about himself that's really radiates! It was really sweet to see Mai again too! Their menu looked amazing and there were so many dishes to choose from ! Their price points are great too! We ordered Appetizers: Fried Tofu & House Garlic wings. We came here for lunch today because my daughter was craving pho and wanted to try someplace new. I reminded her that we came here a while back for Yelp Elite event, but we didn't try the pho that time. Today we had the pho and it did not disappoint. We also had the truffle fries and bacon fried rice. My daughter got a Vietnamese coffee which she said was delicious. The truffle fries were amazing...just like last time. Thin fries that were crispy with a sprinkling of herbs and truffle cheese. The dipping sauces were a nice accompaniment. The fried rice was good with a nice amount of crispy bacon on top. The pho was the star of the show. The broth was flavorful and fragrant. There was a nice amount of ribeye and noodles. The bowl was filled to the top. I'm fairly New to eating pho but this was the best one yet. The staff were friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. The restaurant is clean and well kept. It is just around the corner from the movie theater. There is plenty of parking in the parking structure. We had a great lunch and can't wait to return. read more

We originally stopped by Sweet Rice Kitchen hoping for some pho and vermicelli, but found out it had been turned into a Thai place--no more vermicelli on the menu. Bit of a letdown on that front, but we decided to try a bunch of other dishes. We went for the brisket pho first. It was just okay--the brisket was a little dry, and the broth needed more flavor and toppings. The ribeye pho was more tender and definitely a step up. But honestly, it was the Thai dishes that really won us over. The green Thai chicken curry was flavorful and delicious, and we also loved the cashew nut chicken. The highlight, though, was definitely those shrimp Spring rolls. They were super fresh, and that peanut sauce with a little sweet and sour drizzle was just perfect. Everything was crisp and delicious. In the end, the Thai food outshone the pho for us. Service was great and it has that homey feel! This is a solid place to grab Asian food at Janss Marketplace. The Tom Kha soup was tasty and a decent portion. Note that the pho soup contains msg, if you're sensitive to that ingredient. Delicious food. The Thai Garden Salad is on the Happy Hour menu and it's a large size with a great mixed salad and dressing. My favorite is the Lomo Saltado, the French fries are delicious and the ribeye steak is cooked perfectly. It also comes with a side sauce that's different from most places and adds a tiny hint of spice and another level of flavor. The Khao Soi is a curry soup with noodles. Has a little kick but lots of flavor. Garlic noodles with the steak is really good too. Drunken noodles are good with lots of flavor. The pad see ew have lots of veggies, and the chicken cashew dish was really good and on the lunch special menu. Definitely recommend this place. It's my favorite Thai fusion place. It is kind of small and it can get busy. So you just need patience since I think there is only one person cooking. Dinner on a Friday was pretty busy after 5. But we usually go at lunch and it's fast when it's not busy. read more

We were craving Pho on a cold winter night and found this place with high reviews on DoorDash. It's a bit farther away than we'd typically drive to, but our local Pho place doesn't deliver. I'm so glad we found this place!! We both ordered a Combo Pho, and shared the BBQ Pork Spring Rolls. First of all, the spring rolls are massive!! The meat inside was deliciously flavored, the veggies were crisp and fresh, and the rice paper was perfectly soft. The peanut dipping sauce was yummy as well. The Pho was soooo good, flavorful, and filling! We both only ate about half before getting full. Definitely worth the price. Thanks to the person who mentioned Sweet Rice Kitchen on Nextdoor a few days ago. We went for lunch on Friday, and enjoyed the experience! The restaurant is between the parking structure (really close) and the Regal Theater at the Janss Mall, so easy to get to if you park to go to the theater, gym, or post office. I had a pineapple curry with shrimp, and my wife had their prime rib with vegetables dish. Both were served with jasmine rice, a small salad, and egg rolls - delicious! I had a soda, and she had Thai iced tea. The total bill came to $42 before tip. Mai, the owner, came by a number of times to see how we were doing, and we had a nice conversation. Just tried this place out and boy! Was I surprised. Sweet Rice Kitchen is in the Janss Marketplace, right by the movie theatre. Not a ton happening in that mall now, but this is a hidden gem. We were new to the area and thought we'd try this place out since we were craving Vietnamese food. OMG! What a great place to find. We looked over their menu and decided to try their two Chef's Specials. One was Khao Soi, a curry soup with noodles and the other was Pad Kra Pow with an egg. Both items were delicious, but the Khao Soi was outstanding! Great flavor and we couldn't stop eating, kept on going for more and more.
