Seven Spice Kitchen in Newbury Park is tucked away in a shopping center, but it's well worth seeking out. I ordered wonton soup, beef and broccoli, and salt and pepper shrimp to go, and everything was excellent. The wonton soup had a rich, flavorful broth with tender wontons, while the beef and broccoli featured fresh, crisp vegetables and tender meat in a perfectly balanced sauce. The salt and pepper shrimp were the standout--crispy, well-seasoned, and full of flavor. Generous portions and great takeout quality make this hidden gem a must-try!

Omg this was so good! Mongolian pork and orange chicken

Happy I was finally able to give Seven Spice Kitchen a try. Think Panda Express style food but a much better home cooked version. Located in Thousand Oaks / Newbury it's a little hidden off that windy more industrial side of hillcrest. It wasn't hard to find but I rarely drive that stretch so it makes sense why I've missed them all this time. It's located in a small but busy shopping center with other food takeout spots and a Hispanic market. I found parking easily during lunch but it does get busy. Inside was clean and spacious. They had some tables for dining in but my guess is most people take their food to go, especially as you order your food at the counter out of their hot rotating item bar. Prices were decent and portions were good. I got two proteins and a half and half of sides for $10. When supporting local non chains, that's a good steal for a hefty plate of food. My plate was orange chicken, Mongolian pork, and half fried rice, half chow mein. Staff here were friendly. The gal packaged up my order quickly and was nice. Appreciated the prompt service and smiles. Great spot when you are trying to run in and out. The food taste wise was definitely 4.5 stars. I loved the fried rice, orange chicken, and the Mongolian pork. The chow mein was a little bland so I'd go full rice next time. The other bummer is those heat lamps don't keep the food very hot so there were inconsistencies in temperature, so my orange chicken was luke warm. Probably better to come right at lunch rush or when they open so everything is its freshest. Since they are a small mom and pop business, they aren't turning foods out as quickly as the chains do, which makes sense why it might sit a little more and cool down. Aside from this the flavors were very good and authentic. Their orange chicken had great crunch and was white meat. The Mongolian pork was the star though and I hope that's a regular here on their hot bar because I'll be craving that dish for a while. Cant wait to come back and this definitely is a 5 star worthy spot if I have a Better experience with their food temps. I'm going to get take out from here soon for sure and hopefully can bump up my review then.

Great taste!! Delicious!

All I can say is that it was DELICIOUS! The flavor was great and the noodles are so filling.

orange chicken spicy crispy chicken

food is amazing and super affordable! this was 10.99 and is better than panda express. the noodles hit the spot more than the rice but besides that would definitely recommend! service was really fast and place is clean!

i love seven spice!! the food is so good and they never disappoint. they always load up your plate and nothing lacks in flavor- you get both quality and quantity at a reasonable price. the workers are always friendly and helpful. I've never actually dined in here but they offer a lot of indoor and even some outdoor seating. i really enjoy their milk tea boba and overall it's just a good eat.

Food is great, but it's important to note that this is primarily a take out place with just a few tables with uncomfortable seating.

The beef noodles were good but not too remarkable. I also had the spring rolls and felt the same way. Nice small shop to get a quick bite.

I like the house special braised pork belly which is a caramelized and salty meat in a pot. Delicious with copious amounts of white rice. Some of my favorite items to get at this place are: -Stir fried intestines - these are cooked with spices and numbing pepper. The intestines taste like they were deep fried and have a crunch to them. -Mushroom medley - 3 different types of mushrooms in a brown sauce and some type of white meat. -Beef rolls - sliced beef inside a flaky savory pancake with hoisin sauce and cilantro This is a great spot for Hunan-style dishes that have the complex smoky, spicy, and numbing spice flavors. I'd go for those dishes over more traditional fried rice, beef and broccoli type Chinese food.

The Ordering Experience:…read more Ordered via GrubHub, but disappointed to find staples like Peking Duck, Dan Dan Noodles, and Shrimp Dumplings missing from the online menu? Broccoli Shrimp ($19): The broccoli was perfectly steamed, but the shrimp were a letdown Instead of the expected jumbo/large size, they were small (51-60 count) and lacked flavor Also, the peas and carrots felt out of place in this dish Spring Rolls: Crispy and worth the price! (Note: They were served with ketchup?, so have your own chili crisp ready) Braised Pork Belly with Preserved Vegetables (The Star!): Absolutely delicious Perfectly textured pork with just the right amount of fat-not too heavy or falling apart Even with the overcooked vegetables, this is a "must-order" again The Verdict: Good flavors on the traditional dishes; just wish the shrimp size matched the price point!

I can't believe that I haven't written a review for Yunnan Restaurant when it is one of the two…read moreChinese restaurants in the area that are my Taiwanese-parent-approved! Since its opening, Yunnan Restaurant has become a staple in our rotation for good reason. The pro-tip that I almost want to gatekeep is to go for lunch because that's the only way to guarantee that all of the best cold dishes are still in stock. My family's go-to is the vinegar potato strings, bamboo shoots, and sliced mushrooms, but we've recently also gotten into getting a side order of the peanuts with anchovies. The peanuts have a great sweet and salty roasted flavor and would pair perfectly with some rice. I could honestly be happy just ordered a big plate of the vegetarian cold dishes with rice, but it would be criminal to not order some of the noodles. The Sichuan style cold noodle is my absolute favorite item on the menu. It is vinegary, spicy, a little bit sweet, and super refreshing! The noodle texture is nice and bouncy, and the sliced carrots and scallions and blanched bean curds add a great crunchy texture. Despite being meatless, this noodle dish is absolutely satisfying and delicious! Most of the praises I sing are about this cold noodle dish, but their other items are also quite yummy. I enjoy the braised garlic seafood tofu dish, which pairs well with rice, and there are whole cloves of garlic that were braised with the seafood to be subtlety sweet and not at all pungent. Yunnan Restaurant really lives up to the hype!
