This is next to the bakery and Guadalajara Mexican Market & tax place. It's small but kept busy the whole time we were there. The establishment was very clean and the food was fresh. My bf was sick so he wanted wonton soup which he loved. The large is two of those large plastic containers. My daughter and him loved the buns and in my opinion, the food was very fresh but it lacked flavor. I didn't find anything special that would draw me back again. Happy I was finally able to give Seven Spice Kitchen a try. Think Panda Express style food but a much better home cooked version. Located in Thousand Oaks / Newbury it's a little hidden off that windy more industrial side of hillcrest. It wasn't hard to find but I rarely drive that stretch so it makes sense why I've missed them all this time. It's located in a small but busy shopping center with other food takeout spots and a Hispanic market. I found parking easily during lunch but it does get busy. Inside was clean and spacious. They had some tables for dining in but my guess is most people take their food to go, especially as you order your food at the counter out of their hot rotating item bar. Prices were decent and portions were good. I got two proteins and a half and half of sides for $10. When supporting local non chains, that's a good steal for a hefty plate of food. My plate was orange chicken, Mongolian pork, and half fried rice, half chow mein. Staff here were friendly. The gal packaged up my order quickly and was nice. Appreciated the prompt service and smiles. Great spot when you are trying to run in and out. The food taste wise was definitely 4.5 stars. I loved the fried rice, orange chicken, and the Mongolian pork. The chow mein was a little bland so I'd go full rice next time. The other bummer is those heat lamps don't keep the food very hot so there were inconsistencies in temperature, so my orange chicken was luke warm. Probably better to come right at lunch rush or when they open so everything is its freshest. Since they are a small mom and pop business, they aren't turning foods out as quickly as the chains do, which makes sense why it might sit a little more and cool down. Aside from this the flavors were very good and authentic. Their orange chicken had great crunch and was white meat. The Mongolian pork was the star though and I hope that's a regular here on their hot bar because I'll be craving that dish for a while. Cant wait to come back and this definitely is a 5 star worthy spot if I have a Better experience with their food temps. The food my husband ordered was orange chicken, egg fried rice and broccoli & beef and spring rolls. He said something smelled on the way home with it sitting in the car. The spring rolls were soggy. The orange chicken tasted not fresh at all like it had been sitting there. The beef and broccoli just looking at it the meat was discolored like it was old or overcooked and the broccoli looked the same as well I didnt even give it a try because of how disgusting the other items were. He said when he walked in it was like a panda express. But this worse wouldnt even feed it to our dog! The only reason he didnt go back and give them the food and ask for partial refund (because the rice wasnt terrible it was still edible) is because he doesnt want it stinking up his truck and they barley understand him when he was trying to order. Never again. Never heard of this place and now I know why they're one second away from food poisoning someone. Health inspector should go pay them a visit. read more

This humble hole in the wall puts out consistently superior Chinese food. In my opinion, the best in Conejo Valley. They have a buffet style in front and a full kitchen in back. There are a few tables but most people get take out. The prices are excellent and serving sizes are generous. My favorite dish on the buffet is the fish with black bean sauce, but I also think I could eat their orange chicken on a daily basis! The buffet is always good, but if you order from the menu (not the buffet) you will not be disappointed. The food is so tasty and ingredients fresh. Now I can't have gluten and was excited after reading old reviews that mentioned good gluten free options, but seems like management changed since then. Seven Spice Kitchen's owners sold their old restaurant in town (Sesame Inn at 3327 Kimber Dr, Newbury Park, CA) and opened this restaurant. It's located in a strip mall diagonally across the street from Amgen where the Mexican grocery store, Mercado Guadalajara, is located. Seven Spice Kitchen is located next door to Tortilleria Guadalajara, a Mexican bakery. Parking can be challenging since the restaurant is in a small strip mall, but I have always been able to find parking. This is a small place with six tables: three "regular" tables that sits four people and three bar-height tables. There is a counter of buffet style pre-made food, just like at Panda Express, but it tastes much fresher. You can also order from their menus and they will make it new for you. They have two different menus, just like they had at Sesame Inn. There is a two page American menu and a two page Chinese menu. If you are Asian, they will most likely hand you both the American and Chinese menus. See attached photos of all the menus. The food is FANTASTIC, just like their food at Sesame Inn. Their spicy eggplant pre-made on the counter is perfection. Their Juicy Dumplings appetizers off the American menu are incredible. They are known as "soup dumplings" to Asians. It's like a soup inside a dumpling. DIRECTIONS: If you are right-handed, hold the spoon with your left hand. With your right hand, hold your chopsticks. Put one juicy dumping on your spoon. With your chopsticks, open the dumpling so you expose the liquid inside the dumpling. That's the soup. Drink the soup first and then eat the dumpling. Or just put one whole unopened dumpling in your mouth to eat. Be careful of the hot soup inside the dumpling. Seriously, their food is fabulous. The owners are super friendly and accommodating. When I was craving a spicy seafood noodle soup, they made it for me and it's not even on their menu (see attached photo). read more

It was bland, tasteless, chewy, and clearly old food (at 5pm on a Saturday, prime time). I couldn't believe how disgusting this food was, especially considering the overwhelming 5 star reviews here. Legitimate place for their noodles. A fellow international Chinese student suggested this place to me and I'm glad she did. It's a small mom and pop shop. Don't expect really comfortable decor. They have a small menu, but I think it works in their favor because they could just focus on serving stellar quality dishes. I never tried the dishes on the to-go section so I can't comment on that but I've tried the Liang Pi and 'Chinese Burger'. Liang Pi (5/5): Wow and wow! Definitely freshly made flat noodles..even if it wasn't handmade...the noodles are chewy and delicious when paired with the sauces. There is no meat provided and that's the way it is. Honestly, this rivals some of the Liang Pi I've tasted back in the San Gabriel Valley area and I'm shocked to taste such quality in Thousand Oaks. 'Chinese Burger' (2/5): This was really salty...Saving grace was the beautifully pan-fried bun. I'm sure if they toned down the salt, this would have been great. Came in not sure what to expect, this is the best Orange chicken I've ever had in Thousand Oaks. The chicken meatballs and pork riblets were also very tasty. Parking wasn't the best and the location is less than average but seven spice kitchen was a diamond hidden and now found.
