    Korean BBQ chicken wings came
    Diana L.

There is only a handful of Vietnamese restaurants in VC that I like so when I'm in the area I always make a point to stop here since I usually only get their takeout or delivery. But IMO it can't compare to eating a hot bowl of noodle soup fresh from the kitchen. It just tastes so much better. I arrived shortly after opening and was told to sit wherever I wanted. Although I was able to get my order in about 5 minutes, the food came out a little bit slower than expected considering I was the only one there at that time. The Korean BBQ chicken wings came out first, it was so yummy. They have other flavors too but this was my favorite. The Hue Style Spicy Noodle Soup was flavorful but very mild on the spice level even with the slices of jalapeno added to the soup. They definitely could have kicked it up a notch. The Vietnamese ice coffee was very good, strong and sweet. The coffee and condensed milk flavors can be quite strong for some people so I recommend letting the ice melt a bit before drinking it. Ive never had any issue with service, sometimes the person taking the order is different from the one serving your food, but they check on you regularly and I've always had a good experience.

First time dining here. This must be the most laid back staff I have ever experienced. I didn't get my server's name but she literally took 30 minutes to come take my order (after I was seated). *I was the ONLY customer there up to that point. Finally she came over and I ordered 1 item (no drinks, only #11 Pho SG). Then a group of people came in and were seated next to my table. She took their order within 5 minutes. Within 10 minutes she started bringing their food to their table. Then she looks over at me and said that my order was next. *I am a little fuming at this point* Then she walks over with a bowl of pho and said here is your chicken pho. I promptly replied, I didn't order Chicken Pho...I ordered #11. Then she realizes its for the table next to me. After several rounds of her bringing food to the other table.... *I was literally beyond fuming* When I finally got my pho, she did apologize saying she was confused. And I'm like....lady you had one job to do (in my head). I was being polite and didn't want to start anything. So the food was ok...nothing different than other places or memorable. As I was eating, there were no follow ups or asking if I needed anything else. Literally this lady disappeared into the backroom and I can hear her talking to others working there. I finished eating. I had an idea it would take a long time for her to bring my check. So I proceeded to their kitchen area and said to please check me out. They were literally just talking hanging out. I was there for over an hour to eat a bowl of pho. I would not be coming back. *And I recommend you check out Love Pho down the street. Their service is impeccable...and they'll get you in and out within 30 minutes. And they are always packed.

Usually pretty good, however, recent order was below par. Wings were not very hot and meat was on the drier side. Pork Bahn Mi was also cold for some reason, meat was dry, and the roll wasnt quite as fresh. Shaking Tofu was luke warm but still tasted good. Picked up order on the earlier side of their estimation so shouldnt have been sitting around long. Just overall disappointing for the $$$ tonight.

The "Hue Style Spicy Noodle Soup" was so shrimpy/fishy smell.

The restaurant is clean, organized and neat. Food was terrible, we ordered the dry nice noodles which was okay. The other dish is Hue" Style Spicy Noodle Soup" which was very salty, fishy taste. It was supposed to come with tender beef and crab cake but there were no crab cakes, they gave us like two beef balls which tasted horrible. The entire bowl was filled with mostly broth, one or two ounces of noodles, exactly 3 super thin slices of beef, and 2 beef balls for $15 + tax. We asked if we could get some extra lime or lemon ‍ to clear the salty broth, they said they would have to charge us extra. I was so SHOCKED. WOW I wish i could give this restaurant negative stars. The server told us that the restaurant charges extra for every single thing. Every condiment plate is a fixed portion, 3 slices of jalapeño, HALF wedge of lemon, I mean HALF WEDGE . And anything asked extra will be charged. I asked is that why the restaurant is slow, the server nodded her head and looked at the Vietnamese owner. At that time only my table and another table near us. I'll never come back to this restaurant ever again.

Food was delicious, served in big portions to share (well for us at least,) Service crew were youngsters and very polite and respectful and knowledgeable. Restaurant was cute and clean.

Every time I come in recently the servers NEVER have a notepad and pen to write down my order and they have gotten my order wrong alot because of it.. today the waitress told me I was wrong and told them no pickled veggies completely when that was not true she just didn't get my order right . Instead of fixing the issue she argued with me and laughed at me .

I ordered the Korean BBQ short ribs with rice to-go today. Unfortunately, the meat was burnt, cut into very thin strips, and there was barely any actual meat.

Tasty beef banh mi. We were in the area and this was very convenient. Clean, nice decor, and helpful staff.

My husband and I tried this resto and I love this place. The cashier/server was nice, friendly and fast. We ordered vermicelli noodles with egg rolls and some grilled meat and the serving was huge and it was good. I also ordered fresh spring rolls and that was good too. I took a star off cuz we ordered spring rolls as appetizers but I think they forgot about it until I asked for it. Will definitely be back

I've been visiting Viet Kitchen pretty much since they opened. They have a variety of Vietnamese dishes , primarily you'll come to get the Pho - which is pretty dang good or even their Banh Mi (sandwiches) - which I think are the best in Ventura county. The food is authentic and I just went in for lunch again today and noticed they've made some investments in a new sign and menu update. It's looking great and also seems to be catering to their audience quite well. I think when they first opened they were still balancing the line between Vietnamese authenticity and a Newbury Park crowd but they seem to be leaning towards making a experience that suits the customer base and I honestly think it works. It's small detail things like moving away from plastic bowls for serving to ceramic and the small improvements may be something newer customers notice, but I imagine comes from their work and effort in continuously improving the business and trying new things. For example they have a newer egg roll that would appeal to an American audience and the newer food trends going on in the Asian American food diaspora. You notice these things as a foodie, so hoping this place continues to evolve and adapt as time goes on. Still my top Vietnamese place in Newbury Park/TO area.

    Delicious brisket pho.
    Kevin L.

We didn't expect Viet Kitchen Newbury to be so good, so far from the SGV and right smack in the middle of a very non-Asian area. But it is. The beef brisket pho was very good. Flavorful broth with plentiful pieces of tender brisket. We also got the shaking beef rice plate, which is also very good. Nice chinch's of perfectly flavored tenderloin and not sliced meat that some other places might call shaking beef. It came with a crisp and refreshing salad. Would return if we're in the area again.

Special Pho Viet Kitchen SG, Pot Sticker (8pcs), Chicken Wing (8 pcs)

I ordered delivery through DoorDash and everything arrived safely. The noodles were not too firm but just the right amount of sponginess you want. A good amount of meat + variety was included as well, although I would've liked more soup. The soup itself wasn't too flavorful (personally I like allowing the individual flavors of the meat to carry the dish so this was okay). Potstickers didn't have that "crounch", but that did not diminish the flavor of them. Good blend of meat to wrap ratio. The sauce is a sort of vinegar soy sauce, not for me but adds a layer of flavor to them. The coffee was what you'd expect, this one was a little darker than I would've liked though. (Will update with chicken this is hella food)

Unfortunately upon walking in I was informed they ran out of giftcards. Definitely a bummer that at the height of the holiday season they aren't stocked and lost some easy money. Also inconvenient for me as I had to run to another store. Lastly, I appreciate when businesses put a sign on the front door that they are out of something, I understand they don't have to do this, but I've seen other businesses do it and it's really helpful. For example, a sign saying "systems are down cash only" or "out of gift cards", etc. It would've just been nice to know before I went inside and ordered the sandwich because had I known upfront that they didn't have the gift cards I would have waited to ordered food at their other location. Hence docking a star. Otherwise this isn't a bad location and it's definitely clean inside and they serve up a classic tasty sub sandwich. Staff have always been friendly here and nice overall. The gal that made my sandwich today was a good active listener and crafted my sandwich to perfection. Truly jersey mikes are a super solid sub! I love the fresh sliced deli meat and the toppings. Bread is always fresh which is a must. Overall the sandwiches here are 5 stars in my books for a chain sandwich spot. Other comments are just that this location is pretty small. It's a bit cramped inside and when you come during rush hours it can feel a little squished. I keep in mind to come to this location before the rush, otherwise I go closer to home to one of their more spacious properties. If you're not dining in it's not a big deal but just worth noting because even today with myself and another customer inside it feels crowded. Happy to at least have this option when I'm on this side of town. Nice staff, clean facilities and a good bite.

My friends and I were in town for an event in Thousand Oaks and looked up a deli. This was one of the choices, so if we went to discover what could be discovered. Low and behold, we were very pleasantly surprised by the variety and the quality and the service. Maria was our server and she was amazing and I can't tell you how she made the experience that much more positive because every answer to our questions were yes, and I'm sure we can do that. She brought out some bagel chips and ranch dressing and pickles to start with and Man if that doesn't wet your whistle and make you want to order everything, you're not doing it right. We ordered a variety of things a couple of Ortega corned beef sandwiches and a turkey sandwich and a pastrami sandwich. We paid for our orders and then landed in the bakery area upfront. Of course, all of us had to take a little something home to our husband's because we were feeling quite plump and satisfied to not share the experience with our spouses. We walked away with some blueberry pie and an eclair and some muffins and quite a bit more. We're already planning our next trip. We will be there this weekend. And as we sit here, midweek, contemplating all of the delicious options we can take advantage of, we are trying to convince ourselves whether we should go there on Thursday and Friday and Saturday while we are in town. What a delicious dilemma to have heads off to the people that run this place and make sure that the quality still goes. The food coming out of the kitchen is still fresh, hot, and well-prepared, which is the most important thing, and still five-star in their category of dining places. However, during our last two visits, despite not being crowded at all (we tend to arrive just before 5 PM after medical appointments in the area), the dining room isn't being kept "sparklingly clean" as I've noted in previous reviews. Am not sure if the manager has changed, but I would like to recommend that they revisit the policy of sending someone around in the dining room to clean the tabletops after guests leave. There are always going to be random crumbs, and possibly sticky areas left after people finish eating. Spraying down and wiping those tabletops keeps up a fresher appearance for the restaurant. I've also noticed that in the bench seating that stray items like straw wrappers have been left behind and not thrown away by either a previous guest, or by an employee. These are small things in the big picture, but if you want to achieve high marks from customers, you pay attention to to those small things. Farmer Boys' motto is "Farm Food Ain't Fast Food". It's also not inexpensive food. Making a meal a combo definitely adds to the price. In these days of higher prices for everything, a saving grace is to have / use their app. We achieve discounts or free food on almost every visit, and that helps us keep coming back. Please keep a better eye on cleaning up tables, and we'll start ringing the customer satisfaction bell again.
