The restaurant is located inside a plaza. Large parking lot. Easy parking. We tried the pork xiao long bao, sautéed bok choy and Shanghai noodles. Everything was delicious. Prices are reasonable. One of the bathroom stalls was broken and wouldn't flush (walked into Un unpleasant surprise) while the other was preoccupied for awhile.

Great place to get your dumpling fix, authentic, great flavor but on the pricier side. However, it beats driving into LA traffic. Service, quick and nimble, pay at the register. Ambiance was modern, neutral, clean.

Heard so much about this place, had to check it out. We arrived close to 5 on a Saturday evening and by 6, the place was filling up. It's a large open room so the noise level increases as more folks arrive. Nonetheless , service is excellent , very helpful and attentive staff. It's an open kitchen and the folks behind the counter were quite busy. We ordered sautéed baby bok choy as an appetizer. It arrived hot, tender and delicious. crisp. What an easy way to meet the leafy green dietary requirement! The boiled veggie dumplings were nicely filled and mildly flavored. The Vegetable Udon soup was good, although not quite flavorful as others I have had. My hubby's chicken udon soup was flavorful but we have had better. The chicken wontons were delicious. Ample free parking in the lot out front. Check this place out and see what you think.

We tried this place to try their xiao long bao, it was lacking the soup inside, some almost dry even, so we were a little disappointed. The red bean paste bun was cute and adorable but that's all it was, bland. The steamed pork was a disappointment it was rubbery and lacks flavor. The shrimp udon was ok but for $18 and the small portion, pass. The sweet potato taro ball was ok but when it came out they were the size of quail eggs, not woth it. The floor and the walls are dirty. Service was meh. The water was also warm and had a weird taste. I would not come back here

First time here and glad we found a really good dumpling house comparable to Din Tai Fung minus the price and wait. We had the xio long boa (soup dumplings) and it was so good! It was very juicy. Also ordered the beef udon stir fry and my daughter devoured it. The Shrimp fried rice was perfect! Also had the fried dumpling and they were big. Service was good and fast. Highly recommend this place if you are craving dumplings.

(+) Dim sum in Moorpark? What a nice surprise to find this place. They have a lot of the dim sum classics and more. (+) Regular menu with pictures and then a piece of paper has the menu listed and you mark what you want... easy! (+) Xiao long bao (soup dumplings) were fine, favorites were the noodles and scallion pancakes, will try more next time. Vinegar and soy sauce at the table mixed in with the thinly sliced ginger was a winning combo to dip into. (+) Boba milk teas and other drinks, wish there were more dessert options but the fried coconut balls were good, peachy buns just ok but they do look peachy, taro balls were very crispy and tasty (+) Friendly service, patient and not pushy. Fairly attentive even when busy, lots of tables and seating. Will come back again. Food is made to order, cart doesn't come around like the spots in Chinatown. Also, prices are not as cheap but this is the 805 hahaha

Drove out from Calabasas to experience first hand whether this spot is legit. This is the most authentic Shanghainese noodle and dumpling shop in Simi and Conejo valley. Tried just about everything and it was all good. Really enjoyed the xiaolongbao and pork chop fried rice. Definitely worth the trip. New and clean restaurant with quick and friendly service. Reasonably priced too. Will be back.

Friendly and quick service. I love that they have dimsum at night. The pork and shrimp sumai and soup dumplings were tasty. Bok choy and wonton soup were also good. The proportions are good and good value for the price. Restaurant is pretty spacious and clean.

Visited with my family after this place was highly recommended by a friend, who claimed it was just as good as Din Tai Fung--if not better. Unfortunately, I have to disagree. When we arrived, we put our name down and immediately asked about the wait time. We were told it would be about an hour, which surprised us, but we were okay with it since half of our party was still on the way. We decided to go next door for a drink while waiting. Not even 20 minutes later, I went back to check on our table and found out our name had already been called. We quickly finished our drinks and rushed back, only to wait an additional 20 minutes just to be seated. During that time, we tried getting someone's attention multiple times, but no one acknowledged us. Once seated, I attempted to speak with our waiter, but there was a significant language barrier, which made it very difficult to ask questions or clarify anything. We placed our order, and I will say the food came out very quickly, which was appreciated since we were starving. As for the food--it was okay. Not bad, but definitely not comparable to Din Tai Fung. To make matters worse, a couple of items arrived that we never ordered. We tried to let the waiter know, but we were completely ignored and ended up being charged for them anyway. At the end of the meal, we asked for boxes and were ready to leave, but then the final frustration happened: while clearing the table, the waiter accidentally dropped chili oil on my white shoes. That was extremely upsetting and really sealed the experience for me. Will I come back? Probably not.

Cleanliness is a huge issue, I have been here numerous times including the day it opened. The food is great however, when what the customer sees is a lack of cleanliness what else is going on in the back? I have noticed each time the windows are not cleaned, the bathroom is dirty or missing paper products, the back door exit also has dirt marks. Chili oil/vinegar/soy sauce jars on the tables are sticky. The food is not the issue here, it's the lack of pride keeping the service area clean. Pushing a dirty cart around to serve food is not great either.

Such an unlikely type of restaurant in this neck of the woods and literally tucked in a small corner of an outdoor shopping area, which is why on a Saturday at just past 5:00 p.m., I was absolutely shocked to see the Dumpling Shack was completely packed with people... and stayed that way the entire time we were there. They don't take reservations, and we figured it'd be empty at that time. WRONG. It's surprisingly spacious inside, which helped for us to get seated right away. It was our first time there, and we didn't know what to order... or how much for three people (and nobody to ask), so we took our chances and ordered the following... Spring rolls (3 pieces) Onion pancake (approx. 8 small triangle pieces) Pork Xiao Long Bao (8 pieces) Shrimp Fried Rice Chicken with broccoli in sauce Pan-fried pork and shrimp dumplings (8 pieces) Okay, so I happen to know and love Din Tai Fung, so yes, that is my bar for comparison. Admittedly, I don't love all dishes there, but what I love, I use as a bar for comparison. How could I not? That would include their famous Pork Xiao Long Bao ("PXLB"), and nobody but nobody has matched theirs yet. Sorry, but the PXLB at Dumpling Shack doesn't have much in the way of pork or broth flavor, AND the dough is way too thick and gummy. Probably my least favorite dish here, truth be told. What I did love at Dumpling Shack were the pan-fried shrimp and pork dumplings. The dumpling itself was packed with flavor... of course, it was fried, and the dipping sauce was delicious. Why couldn't that sauce have been served with the PXLB... would've helped immeasurably. The shrimp fried rice was tasty, but it needed a bit of help in the flavor dept. I added a bit of soy sauce, and it improved, but I don't know. It was just missing something, and I'm not sure what. The vegetable spring rolls were served immediately upon frying and quite good. The onion pancake, on the other hand, that other Yelpers had raved about, was a miss for me. It just fried wonton... no pancake, and as far as the onion, it was altogether missing, but for about 3-4 microscopic pieces of green onion. I'm not kidding on the microscopic part, or how many. I honestly don't know what that was, but a pancake made of onions, it wasn't. Terrible to pass that off like that. The chicken broccoli dish was prepared decently as in chicken was tender and the broccoli was soft enough but still with a slight crunch, and while flavorful with some kind of brown sauce, it just wasn't with any "wow" factor... just a boring brown sauce with no special flavor. It did, however, pair nicely with the fried rice. The service was fast, but it was in reverse. We got our appetizers LAST. We got the fried rice first, then the PXLB and chicken broccoli. Then the pan-fried dumplings, and then our appetizers. The other strange thing is that they didn't want to be asked questions. They only appeared to take the order from you, bring drinks and food, and that was it. NO questions to be asked... I tried. I had menu questions, and I definitely wanted help with making up that little sauce mixture for the PXLB. None of that happened, but they brought our food fast. I think the young men working there are told to just grab our orders and go... no time for talking or answering questions. Who knows. I should add that all the food we had was quite enough for our party of 3 with some leftovers in the fried rice and chicken broccoli. I know I complained of most things, but believe it or not, I liked this place enough that we will return, and I believe I now know how to work with this kind of operation. I will order some different items because they have food items we didn't even explore... just too many to choose from in one sitting, and some we will order again, but make some alterations. The one dish we will get again for sure will be the pan-fried shrimp and pork dumplings. Five stars in my book on that dish. Everything else is up for grabs... but we will return for sure.

Finally got to try Dumpling Shack and was so thrilled I did! I just ordered a few classics and I will definitely be going back to order more off the menu sometimes soon. The Jumbo Shrimp & Pork Shumai really were outstanding, the chunks of shrimp were generous and the pork inside was juicy. I also really enjoyed the pan fried pork dumplings, egg custard buns, and BBQ pork buns as well. I ordered pickup online and was greeted immediately when I walked in the door, they retrieved my order quickly, and bagged it up nicely to go. The restaurant was quite busy around lunchtime, had lots of little tables, was brightly lit from all the windows, and looked really clean inside. It's part of a big shopping center so there is tons of available parking nearby.

Great for the price as long as you temper your expectations…read more In this economy, Golden Panda is still doing $17.99 for lunch, $21.99 for dinner, and $23.99 for weekends all without time limit, so if you are going in expecting some gourmet buffet, you are most likely going to be disappointed. But if you go in with the expectation that you can try a ton of different food for the same price as a regular eat out, you might be pleasantly surprised like me. The hot food sections consist of Chinese buffet classics and a small selection of western foods like fried chickens and shrimp boils, etc. The quality of the Chinese dishes are honestly surprising good. Better than Panda Express, which isn't a high bar but still, and even has expensive dishes like fried crabs that is actually good. IMO even if you only eat from this section, you will have your money's worth and have a good time. The sushi/seafood bar is a slightly more complicated story. The rolls didn't look appetizing so I didn't try them. The chilled seafoods like cocktail shrimps and mussels didn't taste too fresh and I am a little worried after eating them. The sushi/sashimi, which are the main star of the entire buffet, are honestly pretty decent but with a caveat. They are obviously not sushi restaurants quality, but the fish are fresh enough and the sushi rice are decent enough that I when back for more. The only thing that concerned me is that the tongs used for sushi and sashimi are very dirty with food residue on them. They don't seem to be changing frequently if at all, and using something that has been touching raw fish and sitting out for a long time concerns me. If I get sick from the sushi it is probably not the sushi itself but the tongs. Lastly, the desert section is great like many comments have said, the fruits are fresh, cakes are decent, and the gelato ice creams are very high quality. Service is alright. They have remodeled so it is definitely cleaner than before and the bathroom is nice too. Overall a good place for the money, and would be a great place if the focus a bit more on the cleanliness of the food station

Was surprised to find such an authentic spot for Chinese in Oak Park!…read more I came by for a Mother's Day lunch with my family. When we arrived around 1 pm, the restaurant was maybe half full. But clearly it was popular as people were coming in constantly the entire time we were eating. Even though the restaurant is called Yunnan Restaurant, most of the dishes on the menu were more like Sichuan dishes i.e. spicy. All of the food was super solid and portions were ginormous. My recommendation is to order 1 dish per person if you want leftovers, or order one less dish than the # of people if you want to finish most of the food. I don't handle spice very well, so we ordered a mix of spicy and non-spicy dishes. We shared the following: #1 Yunan rice noodles ($16.99) #32 scallion pancake ($8.99) #104 Chong qing fried chicken ($16.99) #107 braised pork belly with buns ($19.99) #109 boiled two items - fish and duck blood ($21.99) Given that the restaurant is called Yunnan Restaurant, we felt like we had to order one of the most popular dishes from that region, the Yunan rice noodles i.e. crossing the bridge noodles. I really enjoyed the silky smooth mixian noodles as well as the flavorful broth. The fried chicken was too spicy for me; I ate one piece and my whole mouth was on fire. Everyone else said it was quite spicy as well, so eat this in moderation unless you can really handle your spice. The 3 pepper signs next to this dish on the menu are no joke! The braised pork belly was delicious, but portions were on the smaller side for this one. Still, I enjoyed making a little bun sandwich with the pork belly and pickled veggies. The boiled fish and duck blood was also super solid. It was just a little spicy, so I was able to manage a couple pieces with the help of rice on the side. Portions were very generous for this dish. We all ate lots of fish and duck blood and still had a ton left to take home. They also have some precooked 涼菜, i.e. cold dishes, on the side you can buy for dine-in or to go. We got 3 of the meats - pork tongue, pork head, and and beef tripe, to go. Paid $16.99 for a huge box of these meats. We thought this was a steal too. Can't wait to try some at home!

It's definitely him. Let me share with you the chain of events I witnessed that allowed me to connect the dots so I can likely assume was him. We've since ordered from them again, and they were (very happily) consistently delicious. We are sooooooo happy to now have a LOCAL Chinese restaurant that we can trust and enjoy. We may even dine there and not do the takeout thing for a change. (I really would like to ask them what some of their other dishes are on the menu cuz I would like more options, truth be told. However, if the dishes above are the only ones I would ever choose to order, I'm fine with that, too.)

It looked like bland wontons were dumped into the container without any sauce tossed into it. After trying to coat the wontons with the little sauce that was given at the bottom of the container, it tasted like straight soy sauce with the slightest hint of spice. The wonton itself tasted like plastic, it was dry, hard, and you honestly can't even tell there is any meat filling in it. Comparing this to other authentic Chinese restaurants, this feels disrespectful. It was $13 after tax, so you're better off buying grocery store frozen wontons.
