A couple months ago we had an engagement party for my daughter at our house. We had a taco guy supply the dinner and we got dessert at Carla's. The selection of Mexican pastries was huge and they were all absolutely delicious. Wonderful flavors and exceptional quality. Everybody at the party loved them, and the people that worked there were very helpful and friendly. Based upon this experience, we decided to try Carla's for our Christmas Eve tamales and chili rellenos. We got two dozen tamales ( pork and chicken) and 6 chilli rellenos. We've ordered tamales from several local restaurants, but these were easily the best we've had. Plenty of filling and delicious masa. We also got some of their red salsa as a topping. The chillis were huge and had a unique delicious flavor. The restaurant staff was again very friendly and helpful. I think we've found a new home for our Christmas Eve meal. We have come back to this place twice since the first time. The second time we returned, I ordered the same burrito as I had the first time. This was at about 5:45 PM. The burrito was nothing like the first one I had. This one was watery, thin, and just tasted completely different. I assume it's because the chef at night makes them differently than the one in the AM who made the first one I had. Updating again, we have tried this place for a third time, and we placed an online order through their website about 45 minutes ago. We came to pick up the order, and they are so busy, they didn't even have the order, they only just put it in now. This is unfortunate because it creates an inconvenience for us. If you allow online ordering, you should have the order ready by the stated time. This does put a sour taste in our mouth.. However- this burrito was back to tasting as delicious as the first I had gotten. So it seems the morning is the time to have the breakfast burrito! read more

Great local Panaderia, when I go there for take out and I can never without a bag of their fresh cookies and pastries. Their tacos are delicious as well as many of their other dishes. You can also enjoy a sit down meal as well. Their Tamales are just as delicious, you can't go wrong with any of their entrees as well as bakery items. Don't forget to try their Tortas, but make sure you try their breakfast burritos. The chorizo is incredible and you can build your own when you order. I was in Moorpark yesterday morning, which is unusual since I live in East LA. I had a tiny little crew working and we needed breakfast. Carlas Bakery is hands down a gem in Moorpark! Not only a bakery but a full restaurant as well! This family business is doing things right and make you feel as if your part of their extended family. With an early morning sports event we needed to stop for some grub on the way and found Carla's who opens early at 6am. The morning was packed with people coming and going. The restaurant geared towards the working man with pre made burritos in the warming tray, tortas done and packaged ready to go and fresh made pan dulce individually packed for quick on the go eats. We ordered up 6 burritos and a 7th with just egg and cheese and to my disbelief the owner said no charge for the egg and cheese!!! What business have you been to that didn't charge you for a product! Needless to say a large tip was left because of the sheer gesture was beyond awesome! Family place treating you like family! Gotta love that and the product was absolutely amazing ! Omg this place is amazing!!! I had really Great chicken enchiladas, the pico de Gallo is to die for, the pan dulce at 7pm is STILL soft and fresh. The horchata was delicious! Ok people truly a hidden gem in of all places Moorpark... Seriously It's tucked away hidden in a strip mall next to a Domino's pizza and a Tractor supply. I golf at Moorpark Country Club occasionally and stumbled across this spot by accident. Thank you god, as it's a scratch made little gem serving up legit food with heaping portions and cheap. Oh yeah, the menu is entirely in Spanish and the TV is blaring Telemundo in the background 4.5 stars... Carla's Bakery is a Panaderia, it has a full kitchen serving up everything you need or want to eat in Mexican cooking imaginable. In fact, I want to go back in time and have my quinceanera catered by Carla's LMAO the menu is in Spanish but with pictures which helps a bit... I have had the breakfast burrito which is a heaping torpedo of goodness bursting with flavor and also sampled a few plates of my golfing buddies. The breakfast burrito comes with all the fixins just pick your protein and get after that badboy with two hands recommended to properly hold your Mexican mound of breakfast goodies all wrapped up and waiting to be devoured. Wait for it, wait for it $5.99 people. Please let that sink in and allow me to repeat myself $5.99. Bruce out!!! The bakery is a menagerie of sugary scratch made goodness in a self serve display case along with rolls, bread and cakes. Grab your tongs and get busy with the carbo loading. My Banana Nut muffin was so good and fresh out of the oven. Wait for it $1 seriously people what are you waiting for bring an appetite a few dollars and your Google translate app to Carla's and eat like El Chapo... It's a dive albeit very Homey and authentic. It's mostly a grab and go as it gets packed with locals and those in the know lining up for some serious scratch made grub throughout the day. They also serve up some freshly squeezed juices and assorted fruit parfaits. Parking is abundant, they have a few tables for those that need a table to spread out and get busy at Carla's. The staff is mostly family and they are really nice and eager which makes you feel welcome and treated with care as if you are having a meal with friends in Mexico at somebody's home. All in all Carla's isn't fine dining or white glove service but rather a legit spot to get your grub on for some authentic homemade Mexican goodies to tantalize the tastebuds and go easy on the wallet in Moorpark. Wow! Let me just say WOW!! I just moved to Moorpark and had to try Carla's! I wasn't sure where it was located, but we happened to stop by the Tractor store on LA AVE and there is was! So... of course we had to grab a couple breakfast burritos. We chose the chorizo and machaca burritos! And they were BOMB! My man and I both agreed that the Machaca was the BEST! It's Huge! I feel mislead and cheated ordered 3 carnitas burritos with chicharron. They might as well called them rice burritos..I didn't taste any carnitas and maybe a couple of tiny pieces of chicharron. I suppose there might have been beans but I didn't taste them. What a scam this is not the Carla's that I use to buy authentic well prepared Mexican food.Shame on you..for forty dollars I could have had a decent steak or rib dinner.
