    Chilaquiles verdes con cecina.

This place is a hidden gem, we've been here several times and I have ordered different food items. They have an extensive menu and anything you select is delicious. From food to agua frescas, i highly recommend. Sadly, I don't take pictures of my dish because I immediately devour my food. I have ordered the tamales, chilaquiles, caldo, menudo and tacos. The only downside is that it's cash only.

Came by this combination bakery and taco shop on TO Blvd and decided to try it out. The interior is large and has a lot of seating. It was pretty full on a weekday evening. Service was very friendly but extremely slow and it took a long time for the food to come out. There's a self serve salsa bar although they are a bit skimpy on the sauce places. We got six tacos and a beef soup. The beef soup was an unexpected favorite. The serving was a quart for 13.99 and came with strong flavors and packed with veggies and meat. The tacos were tasty but didn't really stand out. They were generously sized but also a bit pricey so it evened out. The meats were tender but a little under seasoned. Definitely worth a stop.

Ordered a dozen tamales. Generous in size. Delicious. Quick service. Ambiance was comfortable. Very casual. Lots of tables. Felt like a cozy kitchen.

Second time here. Cash only which is annoying and parking gets packed in this small lot but the tacos are a welcome change in the rotation of quick bites. They are consistently good in taste and quality. I appreciate the radish they stick in each meal to clean the palate. Today, I got 8 tacos at $2.75 each. The price is good too. Not my favorite but not bad by any means.

I should probably do two separate reviews since this place is two great Businesses under one roof. Parking was tricky as we decided to go at 11:00 am (brunch) parking lot was kinda full. But we found a spot in no time. Upon entering your eyes quickly notice the full case of fresh Mexican Breads! So distracting as I struggled to choose from the menu of delicious Mexican dishes. ( grab a to-go menu if you'd like some English translations for the dishes) The two young ladies at the counter did not have strong English and my Spanish is embarrassing. They Called Jose to help us with our order Friendly and patiently. With his help I decided on the Machaca Breakfast Burrito & My Husband got the Asada Burrito. Self seating we sat and we're brought a bowl of fresh warm tortilla chips, and a little bowl of salsa. Try not to fill up on that. It was so good. As we waited for our food, the little restaurant quickly filled up with hungry patrons! Got our meal in less than five minutes and it did not disappoint!! I will definitely be back there are so many things I want to try on this menu!! Not to mention, I was so full after my burrito. I had no room for the delicious Mexican bread. So I purchased plenty to take home.

Delicious carne asada burrito - plenty of meat and flavor. Definitely put on the green sauce!

I came here at 7am on a Wednesday and ordered a carne asada supreme burrito to go. Plenty of parking, CASH only. There are many Mexican pastries to choose from and a menu of hot items to order. I was told by the male employee that the supreme burrito came with sour cream and guacamole. It didn't. Came with lots of meat, rice, beans, onions and cilantro. The green sauce is delicious! A little on the small size for $12.00. Will return but next time, I will make sure that the burrito has the sour cream and guacamole!

If you want to try the most authentic , delicious plates and tacos in town, look no further. This place is amazing. The service is authentic , and by that I mean not many employees speak much English which may impact the flow of customers. Nonetheless , you can get by with whatever your level of English. Ambience is a relaxing , homey vibe. I recommend these tacos over any other taco place in town.

And in a way, that's exactly what El Sancho Cantina is: an escape. A secret. A little taste of something else. Whether you slide in for lunch, happy hour, or dinner, El Sancho is where you come to cheat on your routine. Tucked into Thousand Oaks, it's a getaway hidden in plain sight. Sit at the bar, let the cool breeze drift through, and allow the Spanish ballads to work their magic. For a moment, you'll forget where you are--and believe you've wandered into a dreamy cantina somewhere deep in Mexico. Start with the "El Viejo"--their riff on an Old Fashioned. Let the applewood smoke swirl above the glass as you lean in. The aroma hits first, then the deep flavors of añejo tequila and Mexican whiskey settle in with smooth confidence. Sip slow. This isn't a race--it's a seduction. If you're looking for something a little lighter--a healthy balance between indulgence and intention--try the two taco plate with the green salad substitution. I went for one Potato taco, one Shredded Chicken taco, and swapped out the rice and beans for a salad of mixed greens and cucumber, dressed with balsamic vinaigrette and a squeeze of fresh lime. The flavors were bright, clean, and satisfying. I walked away full--but not heavy. If I was meeting my Sancha after, I could've easily gone for a stroll. Maybe even dessert. But don't let me lead you down the wrong path--the tacos and cocktails are already all the temptation you need. And if that post-lunch lull starts to creep in, fight back with the "El Cafecito"--a soulful wake-up call of Licor 43, Kahlúa, cold brew coffee, and chocolate bitters. My personal pick over an espresso martini--bold, smooth, and unapologetically delicious. So yes, you might be cheating on SoCal for an hour with Mexico vibes, but El Sancho doesn't judge. In fact, it invites you back--with open arms, a strong pour, and just the right amount of trouble.

Some people may not love the counter ordering setup, but it moves quickly and I actually liked it just fine. My margarita was tasty, not too sweet, and came out fast. I ordered a combo with a hard chicken taco and a chile relleno with rice and beans. The taco was delicious. I added extra salsa because I love salsa. The beans come in an edible cup, which is both delicious and slightly dangerous because it will fill you up fast. In an effort to pace myself, I did the unthinkable and pulled the batter off the chile relleno and just ate the pepper with the melted cheese inside, which was fresh and wonderful. My fellow diners were very happy with their beef enchiladas and chimichanga. One thing I really liked is that when you are finished you can simply get up and leave. No waiting around for a check. Also worth noting: everyone working there was incredibly nice and almost suspiciously cheerful.

After checking out their Instagram page, I noticed they closed because of some national shutdown. The fact that a local business like this would openly support something like this is ridiculous. Not to mention the so called shutdown was against ICE enforcement activities which is disturbing.
