    Cucumber salad
    Janney A.

Went here for dinner during our girl's night out. We got there around 5:30 and it wasn't too busy. All the businesses in the plaza which its located in were closed so parking was not an issue at all. The restaurant is pretty big & they have plenty of seats. We were greeted and seated right away. Service was good & they kept checking up on us in case we needed anything else. My friends ordered half spicy miso & half tonkatsu with a large Angus Ribeye. I got tonkatsu with large Angus Ribeye as well. We all asked to sub some of our veggies (pumpkin & carrots for mushroom and bok choy) yet we only got 2 bok choys and a really small portion of mushrooms. I guess they don't sub veggies at this location. The one in Huntington Beach does give you a larger portion of the ones you request if you're subbing. I also asked if they marinate the meat and they don't. I did it for my friends though. Just had to ask for more garlic and onions. They did give us the ponzu/soy sauce/chili oil. Both of my friends thought their broths were too spicy. They actually do eat spicy, so I'm not sure how spicy it was for them to say that. They asked if they could get more tonkatsu broth to dilute it. Other than that they did like the broth & meat. The tonkatsu broth was flavorful, I thought it was pretty close to the one in HB. One of my friends also ordered the cucumber salad, it was good & the portion was bigger than what we expected. By the time we were done the restaurant was a bit busier. They were able to split the check 3 ways. I think we will come back to this location in the future.

portion size was perfect for one, the meat quality was good and the broth was good. Was able to make my own dipping sauce so it's hard to go wrong. Only gripe is the seating arrangement is a little uncomfortable to eat at first as the chairs are all raised and the stoves and very far from you. Overall solid but slightly on the pricier side.

We love this place! It's not near home unfortunately so when we are in the area or have a special date night we come here. Definitely join the waitlist on Yelp. Every time we have been the place fills up shortly after opening. I really love the layout at atmosphere of the restaurant. It almost feels like one big family. The service is always incredible. This team works so well together that someone is always helping the other out and the turnaround is amazing. As for the food- A+! There is something for everyone. And it's so customizable that you only get what you want with no food waste. I love their policy to bag up what you have left with more broth. It's practically a second dinner! We will see you again soon!

    Clean & detailed setup

At a loss for words- Honestly, Tabu Shabu in Thousand Oaks just doesn't miss. First off, the vibe is great. It's clean and modern but still feels relaxed- not stuffy at all. Perfect spot to grab dinner with friends or even a low-key date night. The food is where it really shines though !! The broths are super flavorful without being too heavy & the meat quality is legit. The thin sliced beef cooks in seconds && basically melts in your mouth. I went a little overboard at the sauce bar (no regrets) & mixed up my own combo that was probably 60% ponzu and 40% chaos... but somehow it worked ‍ Everything tasted fresh. Veggies were crisp, noodles were spot on- they don't cut corners. Service was awesome friendly, helpful, and they actually explain things if it's your first time without making you feel dumb. It's one of those places you leave feeling full but not gross. Already looking forward to going back

    Meal of champions!

Lots of changes and the menu is way bigger than it used to be! I loved the salmon sashimi and the appetizers are all amazing. The vibes are always so good here and the food is delicious. Make sure you go hungry because it is a lot of food!

100% this place is amazing in every way! The amount of food you get is massive. I love that you get so many fresh veggies. We opted for the handmade ramen noodles and it was SOO worth the extra money! The employees were really helpful and gave us complimentary jasmine tea and a broth booster sauce that gave lots of flavor. We had so much fun eating here and you leave super full! I'm so glad we came and would totally go again. Definitely worth the money!

The vibe is industrial and low-lit, like the kind of bar where the walls have stories but won't snitch. Small space, metal-and-concrete aesthetic, but somehow still warm and cozy. Perfect for a date night or a "let me mentally unpack my life over cocktails" hang with my best friend. What keeps me coming back? The bartenders actually listen. I can walk up and give the vaguest description -- "classic but not sweet, strong but not too whiskey-forward, smooth but still gives main character energy" -- and they'll just... create it. They've made me drinks that aren't even on the menu -- Army Navy, Aviation, etc. -- and every single one was spot on. They always manage to find the right drink for me, which is honestly a skill more people should have. The servers are genuinely nice, the liquor selection is solid, and the energy is chill without being pretentious. I've also heard there's a speakeasy hidden in here somewhere, and trust me, one day I'll find it like I'm unlocking a side quest. Definitely one of my favorite bars in Thousand Oaks -- industrial vibes, great people, and bartenders who match drinks to my personality better than most men can.

I was hit with valet parking ($7 charge) as soon as I arrived so I was a little worried it might be a little snooty but the vibe was super casual once we were inside. After parking we made our way into the ordering area which has both a food ordering section and bar section. The menu is fairly basic but there are options for just about everyone from salads and paninis to pizzas. I got a pepperoni pizza and a red sangria while my husband got a chicken Caesar salad. The salad was pretty typical, nothing standout about it. But the pizza was actually pretty good. It has a very thin, cracker-like crust and decent flavors. After ordering at the counter, you take the buzzer and go grab a table in one of their many seating areas. I first stopped by the bar area to grab my sangria though. Even for a busy Easter Sunday, there was more than enough seating for all the people there. Take my advice and do a lap so you know where to sit before committing to a spot. We sat right up front where everyone else was. But after eating , I took my sangria and went on a stroll through the little vineyard and other seating areas there. One order of Bagel and lox was served with what tasted like a store bought bagel and almost-old salmon, but still tasted ok. Teaspoon of cream cheese included.
